LUCILE H. GOLLADAY
WINCHESTER, Va. - Lucile H. Golladay, of Westminster-Canterbury, Winchester, formerly of 170 E. Birch Lane, Romney, W.Va., died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1997, at Westminster-Canterbury.
Born at Pleasantville, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Dr. Harry Hatch and Minnie (Kingsley) Hatch. She was married to R. Miller Golladay, who preceded her in death on June 10, 1979. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Lenore Walker.

Mrs. Golladay attended school in Worchester, Mass., and Shepherdstown, W.Va. She taught for the elementary school at the West Virginia School for the Deaf.

She was an active member of the Romney Presbyterian Church; charter member of the Romney Federation of Women's Clubs, serving for two years as Eastern District President of the Women's Club, and charter member of the local chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star; Daughters of the American Revolution; Hampshire County Association of Retired School Employees; and the National Teachers Association. She was treasurer of the Hampshire County Library for 32 years. She also served on the Hampshire County Bicentennial Committee, and helped to edit the book, "Historic Hampshire."

She moved from Romney to Westminster-Canterbury in 1991.

Surviving are one daughter, Joann Bruyneel, Virginia Beach, Va.; two grandchildren, John and Peggy; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at The Abbey at Westminster-Canterbury on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Llewellyn Fairchild officiating.

Memorial services also will be held at the Romney Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Feb. 23, 1997, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. John S. Franklin officiating.

Private interment will be in the Indian Mound cemetery, Romney.

Memorials may be made to the Romney Presbyterian Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller Funeral Home, 115 E. Birch Lane, Romney.

ELIZABETH KNIPPENBERG BLUBAUGH
LANCASTER, Pa. - Elizabeth "Libby" Knippenberg Blubaugh, 79, of 874 Pleasure Road, Lancaster, died Tuesday, July 1, 1997, at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born February 12, 1918, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Howard and Myrtle (Elder) Brandt.

Mrs. Blubaugh was a retired employee of Sperry New Holland, Black and Decker, and Fidelity Electric Company. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Lancaster, and attended Calvary Bible Church Independent Baptist, Ellerslie, Md.

Mr. and Mrs. Blubaugh recently celebrated 49 years of marriage.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Russell Blubaugh, Lancaster; two sons, Harlan Knippenberg and wife Elizabeth, Lancaster, and Garnett Knippenberg and wife Joan, Lancaster; a daughter, Arveda Morris and husband Huey, Mountville; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Irvin Elder, Mount Joy.

Friends will be received at the Calvary Bible Church Independent Baptist, Ellerslie, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon.

Services will be held at the church on Saturday at noon with the Rev. Ken L. Korns officiating.

Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, is in charge of the arrangements.

RAYMOND S. COMPTON
MEYERSDALE, Pa. - Raymond Stanley Compton, 92, of Meyersdale, formerly of Markleton, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Tuesday, March 4, 1997, at Meyersdale Manor.
Born Nov. 7, 1904, on RD 4, Meyersdale, he was a son of the late Charles and Effie (Mankamyer) Compton. He also was preceded in death by his wife, the former Erma L. Tressler.

Mr. Compton was a retired track supervisor for the Western Maryland Railroad.

Surviving are three children, Leonard B. Compton, RD 1, Markleton, Idella M. Kennell, Somerset, and Joyce I. Storer, Hagerstown, Md.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rosalie Crosby, Berlin, and Madlyn Bittner, Corriganville, Md.

At the request of Mr. Compton, there will be no public visitation.

A private family service will be conducted at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, with Pastor John Snyder officiating.

Interment will be in White Oak cemetery.

ROBERT J. CONWAY
LATROBE, Pa. - Robert J. Conway, 67, of Latrobe, formerly of Mount Savage, Md., died Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997, at Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg.
He was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Mount Savage. He was preceded in death by his mother, Regina "Jean" Conway.

Mr. Conway was a retired service manager, with 20 years service, for the German Motors Company, Latrobe. He also was employed by Nace Brothers Garage, Latrobe. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Latrobe, where he also served as past president of the church council and the usher's club. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 6025 and the Knights of Columbus, both of Maryland, and was a member of the American Legion, Cooperstown Veterans and Sportsman's Club, and the Touchdown Club, all of Latrobe. He was also past president of the Tri-State Ford Parts and Service Manager's Club.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Shirley M. (Markwood) Conway, 101 Canyon Court, Latrobe; two sons, John R. Conway, North Huntingdon, and Michael F. and wife Suzanne, of Greensburg; a daughter, Helene M. Conway-Long and husband Thomas Long, Latrobe; a brother, Hubert Conway, Mount Savage; five grandchildren, Scott and Kristy Conway, Alexis Tragos, and Patrick and Caela Long.

Friends will be received at the John J. Lopatich Funeral Home, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose Catholic Church on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. William P. Donahue as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Rose cemetery, Latrobe.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Laurel Mountain, Chapter 1011, Old Salem Road, Greensburg, PA 15601.

MARY J. ELDER
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Mary Jane Elder, 70, of Hyndman, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997, at her residence.
Born July 9, 1926, at Hyndman, she was a daughter of the late Roland J. and Nellie I. (Willison) Shaffer. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Elder, on May 8, 1985; two brothers, Glenn R. Shaffer and Ray B. Shaffer; and two sisters, Jeanne E. Lohr and N. Joanne Gaumer.

Surviving are two sons, John G. Elder and wife Debby, Virginia Beach, Va., and Larry J. Elder and wife Mona, Hyndman; four grandsons and a granddaughter; three brothers, Wendell P. Shaffer, Fort Worth, Texas, James C. Shaffer and Donald H. Shaffer, both of RD 1, Buffalo Mills; and a sister, N. Irene Hillegass, RD 1, Buffalo Mills.

Mrs. Elder was a retired food service employee for the Bedford Area School District in Hyndman. She was a 1944 graduate of Hyndman High School.

She was a member of the First Avenue United Methodist Church, Hyndman, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hyndman VFW Oscar Jordan Post 7375. She served as a volunteer for the Hyndman Library.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor David A. Klink officiating.

Interment will be in the Hyndman cemetery.
