PEARL V. GROWDEN
BEDFORD, Pa. - Pearl V. Growden, 77, of RD 3, Bedford, died Sunday, March 9, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born May 16, 1919, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and May (Miller) Bosley. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin M. Growden, on Jan. 8, 1984. They were married
on July 12, 1933. She also was preceded in death by daughters, Gladys Bennett and Ruthella Growden; sons, Philip, Junior, David and an infant son; and sister, Della Growden.
Mrs. Growden has been a maid at the Bedford Springs Hotel for 25 years. She was a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church. She was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cumberland Valley Fire Company.
Surviving are two sons, Eugene Growden and wife Teresa (Whitacre), Bedford, and Victor Growden and wife Diane (Jay), Elizabethtown; a daughter Edith Shepherd and husband Raymond, RD 3, Bedford; a sister, Lucy Ruby, Baltimore; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
Services will be conducted at the Centerville United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Doris Lohr officiating.
Burial will be in the Fellowship cemetery, Centerville.
A memorial service will be held by the Cumberland Valley Fire Company on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
NELLIE F. BELL
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Nellie F. Bell, 67, of 11620 Bemisderfer Road, Greencastle, died unexpectedly at 4 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, in her home.
Born March 19, 1930, in Derry Township, Westmoreland County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Alice (Burkett) St. Clair. She also was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
She was a homemaker. She was a very active volunteer in working at the Shady Grove Community Center, Shady Grove, Pa. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Greencastle.
She and her husband were married
April 8, 1949.
Surviving family are her husband of 48 years, Edward F. Bell; daughters, Myra I. Kidd, Shady Grove, Edna Jane Cushing, Virginia Beach, Va., and Charlotte B. Elliott, Greencastle; one sister, Mary Stamper, Belton, Texas; brothers Tim St. Clair, Somerset, Pa., Tom Faushnacht, Vincennes, Ind., Jack Burkett, Fort Collins, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
It was her desire to have her body donated to the Humanity Gifts Registry of Pennsylvania for medical research at Hershey Medical Center.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. from the Otterbein United Brethren Church, 146 Leitersburg Street, Greencastle, with the Rev. David G. Rawley officiating. The famly will receive friends at the church one hour before the service on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Greater Philadelphia Area Chapter of A.L.S., P.O. EARL SILAS "SQUIRE" HOLLER
BARD, Pa. - Earl Silas "Squire" Holler, 78, of Bard, Buffalo Mills R.D. 1, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born June 24, 1919, at Bard, he was a son of the late Jacob H. and Annie (Corley) Holler. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Arlo J. Holler.
Surviving are two sisters, Pauline L. Foor and husband, Marl, Bedford, Pa., and Pearl K. Shoemaker and husband, William, Buffalo Mills R.D. 1; a foster sister, Nellie G. Holler, Buffalo Mills R.D. 1; four nephews; three nieces; and a long-time caregiver, friend and companion, Velma G. Waugerman.
Mr. Holler retired as a self-employed truck driver and had driven trucks for New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company for 30 years.
He served with the Signal Corps, U.S. Army, in the European Theatre during World War II.
Mr. Holler was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ at Dry Ridge; member and past commander of Hyndman V.F.W. Oscar Jordan Post 7375; and a member of the Rocky Ridge Sportsmen Association.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Trinity United Church of Christ on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Loyal W. Kelso officiating. Interment will be in Dry Ridge cemetery.
Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

FLORENCE V. BENNETT
MEYERSDALE, Pa. - Florence V. Bennett, 86, of Route 1, Artemas, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997, at Meyersdale Manor Nursing Home, Meyersdale.
Born Nov. 16, 1910, in Artemas, she was the daughter of the late Kurt and Agnes (Barnes) Wigfield. She also was preceded in death by her husband George Otha Bennett on June 27, 1979.
Mrs. Bennett was a member of Lebanon Christian Church, Artemas.
Surviving are two sons, Franklin J. Bennett, Artemas, and Merle O. Bennett, Everett; one brother, Dennis Jay, Bedford; one sister, Ruth Fizer, Hagerstown, Md.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Miller officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview cemetery near Artemas.
HAZEL S. FAY
SALISBURY, Pa. - Hazel S. Fay, 79, of 162 Ord St., Salisbury, died Friday, April 19, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Oct. 28, 1917, near Salisbury, she was a daughter of the late Karl D. and Margaret (Hotchkiss) Swartzwelder. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilber and Karl D. Swartzwelder; and a grandson, Jeffrey Wisseman.
Mrs. Fay was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, and the Salisbury Firemen's Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband, Willard G. Fay; two daughters, Elizabeth A. Fay, Salisbury, and Kathy L. Spence and husband James E., Kingsport, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Jodi Lowrey, Mike Wisseman and Andrea Spence; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Salisbury, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Raymond Brown officiating.
Interment will be in the Salisbury cemetery.

HAZEL A. HOLLER
MANNS CHOICE, Pa. - Hazel A. Holler, 73, of RD 1, Manns Choice, died Saturday, March 8, 1997, at her residence.
Born June 5, 1923, in Juniata Township, Bedford County, she was a daughter of the late Clyde H. and Nora M. (Fair) Hillegass. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Ray V. "Buck" Holler, on Oct. 27, 1987; and a sister, M. Pearl Hyde.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda M. Mortimore and husband Thomas, RD 1, Bedford, and Wanda E. Carpenter and husband Delos, McHenry, Md.; a son, Carl R. Holler and wife Jane, RD 1, Manns Choice; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Roy Hillegass, Schellsburg; a sister, Vera Snyder, Manns Choice; and a special friend, Sandra Wilson.
Mrs. Holler was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Manns Choice. She served the church each week for more than 28 years as a member of the cleaning detail.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Loyal W. Kelso officiating.
Interment will be in the Schellsburg cemetery.
