VICTOR M. RICKER JR.
HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. - Victor M. Ricker Jr., 82, of 414 W. Fir St., Hollidaysburg, died Sunday evening, March 22, 1998, at Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg, following a brief illness.
He was born July 19, 1915, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Victor M. and Cora Mae (Dunlap) Ricker. He married
Mary J. Griffin Aug. 18, 1938, in Cumberland, Md. She went to be with the Lord on Feb. 4, 1994. Preceding him in the care of the Lord were a sister, Elizabeth, and brothers Raymond and Thomas.
Mr. Ricker was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.
He retired as an instrumentation engineer from Appleton Papers Inc., Roaring Springs, in 1981 after 30 years of service. He was a registered professional engineer and a member of the Instrument Society of America, Cumberland.
Mr. Ricker was a U.S. Navy Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed golfing.
Surviving are two sons, Victor M. III of Altoona, James G. of Hilliard, Ohio, a daughter, Catherine Parsch of Hollidaysburg, 10 grandchildren, a great-grandson, a brother-in-law, Walter Gatrell, and two nephews, Robert H. Ricker and Thomas D. Ricker, of Cumberland.
Services were held at Plank, Stitt and Stevens Funeral Home, and a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, by Father Clement G. Gardner, Wednesday, March 25, 1998.
Interment was at Green Lawn cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
NORRIS B. RILEY
MARKLEYSBURG, Pa. - Norris Benton Riley, 77, of Markleysburg, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, in the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa.
The son of the late Stephen and Katherine "Bessie" Hinebaugh Riley, he was born March 12, 1921, in Akron, Ohio.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the Sand Spring Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Vesta R. Teets Riley , Markleysburg; three sons and spouses, Karol and Marianne Riley, Dale City, Va., Tommy and Janet Riley, Crofton, Md., and Stephen and Patricia Riley, Joppatown, Md.; two daughters and spouses, Carolyn and Frank Hebert, Pikesville, Md., and Dorothy and Jeffrey Phillips, Hixon, Tenn.; a sister, Ruth Lee, Baltimore, Md.; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy V. Riley; and a grandson, Todd D. Riley.
Friends may call in the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, Brandonville, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, July 26, 1998, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.; and in the Sand Spring Church, Friendsville, Md., on Monday, July 27, 1998, from 10 to 11 a.m. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. with Pastor William Rodahaver, Pastor Dennis Dawson and Pastor Sonny Putt officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sand Spring cemetery, Friendsville.
MARY E. ROBINETTE
SALISBURY, Pa. - Mary E. Robinette, 79, of 871 Engle's Mill Road, Salisbury, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Jan. 26, 1919, in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Herbert C. Smalley and Mary E. (Wagner) Smalley. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh S. Robinette, on June 14, 1987; and two brothers, Clarence and Daniel Smalley.
Mrs. Robinette was a homemaker and worked at the New England Gear Works, Salisbury. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Salisbury; and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Rebecca House, Grantsville, and Elizabeth Ann Emerick, Salisbury; three sons, Craig, of Flint, Mich., Brian S., of Salisbury, and Hal S., of Fayetteville, N.C.; one sister, Maude Hockenberry, Salisbury; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, P.A., Grantsville, Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Raymond Brown officiating.
Interment will be in the Salisbury cemetery.

JOSEPH M. RUBY
CLEARVILLE, Pa. - Joseph M. Ruby, 74, of Clearville, died Friday, Aug. 7, 1998, in Sacred Heart Hospital.
He was born Nov. 25, 1923, in Chaneysville, the son of the late Spencer L. and Elma C. (Bennett) Ruby. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Ruby; and a sister, Freda Ruby.
Mr. Ruby was a retired Major from the U.S. Army Air Force, and had served in World War II. He was employed by GSA, and was a member of the Chaneysville Volunteer Fire Department, and the 483rd Bombardier Organization.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth L. (Mills) Ruby; a son, Gregory Howard Ruby, Long Beach, Miss.; a daughter, Sandra Kay Cavanaugh, Southern, Md.; a step daughter, Cheryl Eckert, Columbia City, Ind.; a brother, Howard C. Ruby, Baltimore; and four granddaughters, Caitlin A. Ruby, Morgan N. Ruby, Christie L. Cavanaugh, and Sherry M. Cavanaugh.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Jimmie D. Flanagan, Minister, officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Zion cemetery, Chaneysville.
Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
REV. MONSIGNOR CHARLES D. RAGER
HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. - The Rev. Msgr. Charles D. Rager, 58, of Dmitri Manor, Hollidaysburg, and a native of Twin Rocks, died April 11, 1998, at Bedford Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 22, 1939, in Twin Rocks, he was a son of the late Edward J. and Verona E. (Woodling) Rager Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward J. Rager Jr.
He is survived by brothers, James H. Rager, Putney, Vt., Robert Rager, Vancouver, Wash., Thomas Rager, Littleton, Colo.; a sister, Mary Lekewa, Wichita, Kan.; aunts, June Greene, Twin Rocks, and Dorothy Falatic, Warren, Ohio; an uncle, Robert Woodling, Warren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Msgr. Rager was ordained a priest at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, on May 20, 1967, by the Most Rev. Bishop James J. Hogan, D.D. A 1961 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, with a B.A. in Education, he had also attended St. Francis Seminary. He received a bachelor degree in Sacred Theology from the Catholic University of America, and later an M.A. in Counseling & Guidance from the University of Detroit.
He had served the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese in the following appointments: 1967-68 at Bishop Guilfoyle High School, Altoona, with residency at St. Mark's Parish; 1968-79 at Bishop McCort High School, Johnstown, with residence at St. Andrew's Parish; and in 1979-80 he had served as Associate Pastor of St. Andrews until his appointment as Pastor of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Everett, in 1980.
On April 1, 1992, Msgr. Rager retired due to health, but he continued service with administration of the Seven Dolors of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish at Beans Cove, Bedford County. On Feb. 16, 1994, Pope John Paul II elevated Fr. Rager to the Chamberlain of Holiness as a Monsignor.
A Memorial Mass was celebrated by Most Rev. Bishop Joseph V. Adamec on April 16 at Msgr. Rager's home parish of SS. Timothy & Mark in Twin Rocks, Cambria County.
A Month's Mind Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, May 8, at the Seven Dolors of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Beans Cove, concelebrated by the Rev. Bernard White, parochial administrator, and priests of the diocese. Following the Mass, remarks will be offered by Rev. Ed Andrews.
WILLIAM T. REMBOLD
MEYERSDALE, Pa. - William Theodore "Ted" Rembold, 92, of Meyersdale, Greenville Township, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Aug. 6, 1906, in Greenville Township, he was the son of the late John Henry and Sue (Kendall) Rembold. He also was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott K. Rembold; six brothers; and three sisters.
Surviving are his wife, the former Kathryn E. Bittner; son, William T. Rembold Jr., married
to the former Nancy Lind, Cincinnati, Ohio; and daughter, Kathryn E., wife of Patrick Delaney, Meyersdale; two grandsons, Ryan Patrick and Jared William Delaney; step-granddaughter, Sheri; and step-great-grandchildren, Jody and Brandon.
Mr. Rembold was a retired carpenter, millwright and farmer.
Friends will be received at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in the Hostetler Church cemetery, Meyersdale.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the New Hope United Church of Christ, Meyersdale.
