MILDRED GARLICK
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mildred Garlick, 84, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Friday, June 5, 1998, at the home of her daughter on Mountain View Drive, Chambersburg.
Born Jan. 25, 1914, at Mount Savage, Md., she was the daughter of the late John Henry Knieriem and Emma Ellen (Smith) Knieriem.
Mrs. Garlick was a 45-year member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are two daughters, Margaret P. Fuller Spagnolo and Katherine M. Reese, both of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Greg Fuller, Rodney Fuller and Joseph Fuller, all of Cumberland, Vickie Greenawalt, Frederick, Md., and Thomas Neidinger, Germantown, Md.; and 15 nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, LaVale, Md., on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Bishop Steven C. Grow officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends and family may call at the church on Tuesday at noon.
EDMUND "BUD" HILLEGASS
MANNS CHOICE, Pa. - Edmund "Bud" Lincoln Hillegass, 75, Manns Choice, died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at UPMC Bedford Memorial, Everett.
He was born Feb. 12, 1923, in Buffalo Mills, a son of the late Eldy and Gertrude (May) Hillegass.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Willa Mae (Logsdon) Hillegass; sons Edmund, Richard, and wife, Lisa, all of York, and John, and wife, Julie (Cole), Manns Choice; brothers, Andrew and wife, Ruth, Hyndman, and Earl, and wife, Mary Lou, Johnstown; a sister, Hilda Turner Smyers, Berlin; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Hillegass was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
He was a veteran of World War II and was twice awarded the Bronze Star Medal for bravery. He worked for more than 30 years out of Local #37 Operating Engineers. He was a member of the New Baltimore Sportsman's Club, the Buffalo Run Rod & Gun Club, and V.F.W. Post #4440.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Charles F. Rhodes officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Zion Lutheran cemetery, Berlin.
Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
MARY LIPKO HOFFMAN
BERLIN, Pa. - Mary (Lipko) Hoffman, 89, of Hyndman RD, died Friday, July 17, 1998, at Meadowview Manor.
She was born Oct. 19, 1910, in Hazelton, a daughter of the late John and Anna Lipko. In 1981 she was preceded in death by her husband Luther C. Hoffman; also three brothers, Joseph, Nicholas and John Lipko.
Mrs. Hoffman worked for the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company during World War II. She was a member of the Palo Alto United Methodist Church.
She is survived by sons, John L., Brunswick, Md., Robert C., York, Richard G., Florida, and Joseph M., Hyndman; a brother, Pete, Towson, Md.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, July 20, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger Huffman officiating.
Interment will be in the Comps cemetery.
MAUDE HOCKENBERRY
SALISBURY, Pa. - Maude E. Hockenberry, 89, formerly of Salisbury, Pa., died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born March 16, 1909, in Salisbury, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Mary (Wagner) Smalley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyal D. Hockenberry, on Dec. 21, 1980; two brothers, Daniel, March 1998, Clarence, October 1998; and a sister, Mary Robinette, October 1998.
Mrs. Hockenberry was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Salisbury. She was a retired school teacher in Somerset County School System. She received her B.S. degree from California State Teachers College and M.S. degree from Slippery Rock State Teachers College. She was a member of Springs Historical Society, the National Audubon Society, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy and Salisbury Firemen's Auxiliary.
Survivors include seven nieces; four nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, where services will be conducted on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Raymond Brown officiating.
Interment will be in Salisbury cemetery.
CLARENCE R. "PINEY" FULLER
SALISBURY, Pa. - Clarence R. "Piney" Fuller, 84, of 146 Grant Street, Salisbury, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at Meyersdale Medical Center, Meyersdale, Pa.
Born Sept. 15, 1913, in Salisbury, he was a son of the late Harrison and Lilly (Fauzy) Fuller. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Mirial M. (Bolden) Fuller; two sisters; and two brothers.
He is survived by a son, John Fuller, Meyersdale; three daughters, Charlotte Farner, and Dorothy Haines and husband, Larry, all of Salisbury, Nancy Brendle and husband, Rick, Fort Hill, Pa.; a sister, Maggie Butler, Cumberland; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a former member of Salisbury VFW and American Legion. He was a retired heavy equipment operator.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home Inc., Salisbury, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. David E. Fetter officiating. Interment will be in the Salisbury cemetery.
FLOYD B. IMLER
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Floyd B. Imler, 78, of Palo Alto Road, R.D. 1, Hyndman, died Saturday, March 28, 1998, at James E. Van Zandt Veterans Administration Medical Center, Altoona.
Born Oct. 23, 1919, at Cumberland, Md., he was a son of the late John S. and Ethel (Lowery) Imler. He also was preceded in death by a son, Duane D. Imler.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, A. Ruth (Kennell) Imler; two sons, Floyd B. Imler Jr., and wife, Jenny of R.D. 1, Hyndman, Mark A. "Tony" Imler of Pleasantville; a daughter, Gloria M. Frazier and husband, Chip of Dunkirk, Md.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Imler of Altoona; and four sisters, Nellie Miller of Cumberland, Izola Smith of Ellerslie, Md., Virginia Page of Altoona, and Shirley Stoy of Ashville.
Mr. Imler retired from Department 43 at the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company in Cumberland. He served in the Pacific Theatre with the U.S. Army in World War II.
He was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union, Local 26, of Cumberland, the Bedford American Legion, Post 113, and the Disabled American Veterans.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ken L. Korns officiating. Interment will be in Comps cemetery.

SANDRA ELIZABETH HOOPENGARDNER
WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Sandra Elizabeth Hoopengardner, age 52, of Route 3, Warfordsburg, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at the Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born Sept. 27, 1946, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of Helen (Price) Stahle, Buck Valley, and the late Cloyd Stahle; and was the wife of Ronald J. Hoopengardner, Warfordsburg, whom she married
on Oct. 10, 1970, in Buck Valley.
She and her husband owned and operated Sideling Hill Amoco, Little Orleans, Md. She was an active member of the Buck Valley Christian Church, Warfordsburg, and a member of the Buck Valley Memorial cemetery Association and the Buck Valley Park Association.
Besides her mother and husband, she is survived by four daughters, Justine E. Murray, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Jenna D. Hoopengardner, Jolene H. Hoopengardner and Jada J. Hoopengardner, all of Warfordsburg; one sister, Dianne Myers, Elyria, Ohio; and one grandson, Luther John Murray.
Services will be held on Friday, Nov. 27, at 11 a.m. at the Buck Valley Christian Church with the Rev. Clint Bahrenburg and the Rev. Dennis Kletzing will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, Md., and at the church one hour prior to services on Friday. For the convenience of friends the funeral home will be open from noon until 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
