WOODROW D. CLITES SR.
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Woodrow D. Clites Sr., 54, of Tiger Valley, Hyndman, died Friday, May 1, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Feb. 6, 1944, in Cumberland, he was a son of Irene S. (Twigg) Clites, of Tiger Valley, Hyndman, and the late Charles Woodrow Clites.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Lou M. (Emerick) Clites, whom he married on Sept. 3, 1963, in Cumberland; three sons, Woodrow D. Clites Jr. and wife Barbara J. (Beal), Brush Creek, Fairhope, Barry E. Clites and wife Crystal A. (Brick), Hyndman, and James R. Clites, at home; four grandchildren; and four sisters, Shirley I. Emerick, Hyndman, Laura J. Headley, Esther R. Gentry and Marguerite C. Crawford, all of Cumberland.
Mr. Clites had been employed for 26 years at Shaffer Bros. Lumber Co. He was a member of the Bedford Church of the Nazarene.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Connie J. Dixon officiating. Interment will be in the Hyndman cemetery.
JOHN "JACK" B. EVANS III
YORK, Pa. - John "Jack" B. Evans III, 51, of York, formerly of Red Lion, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at the Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
Born Feb. 5, 1946, in Scranton, he was the son of John and Janet (Davis) Evans, of Little River, S.C.
Mr. Evans was a truck driver for Venezia Hauling and Transport Inc., Limerick. He was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church, Justus; and Red Lion VFW Post 1446. He was a former semi-pro football player with the York Lions, Lackawanna Eagles and Scranton Eagles. He was a member of the Volunteer Fireman and Fire Police with Chinchilla Hose Company; UAW Local 786; and Central Pennsylvania Teamsters, AFL CIO, Local 430. He was a former member of the Sunday Night Mixed Bowling League of Suburban Bowl-a-rama.
Surviving are his wife, Deborah R. (Schramm) Evans, of York, formerly of Red Lion, and formerly of the Cumberland, Md., area; daughters, Heather L. Evans, Lemoyne, and Courtney L. Evans, York; brother Dean Evans, Warrington; sister Carol Love, Phoenixville; and many nieces and nephews.
The Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Home Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation, services and burial will be private.

FLORENCE C. BREWER
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Florence C. Brewer, 92, of Hyndman, died Sunday, May 17, 1998, at Meyersdale Manor Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 25, 1905, at Comps, Southampton Township, Somerset County, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Henrietta (Weightman) Emerick. She also was preceded in death by two husbands, John Divelbiss, on April 7, 1960, and Ayers Brewer, on March 5, 1967; and an infant daughter.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are a nephew, Johnny Shroyer; and two nieces, Betty Scritchfield and Shirley Chaney, all of Hyndman.
Mrs. Brewer was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hyndman, and a former member of the ladies auxiliary of the Hyndman Volunteer Fire Company.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Edward Shockey officiating.
Interment will be in the Comps cemetery.
MARY ANN B. CONWAY
HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. - Mary Ann B. Conway, 66, of 916 Hickory St., The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at Altoona Hospital, Altoona.
She was born April 27, 1931, in Cumberland, the daughter of the late Warren G. Lewis and the late Rose Elizabeth (Weber) Lewis. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Frederick Y. Borden II who died in August 1977.
On June 29 1987, at Cumberland she married William A. Conway, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Frederick Y. Borden III, Lynchburg, Va., a step-son, T.J. Shoemacker, Lynchburg; one daughter, Mary Martha Coleman, Fort Collins, Colo.; two sisters, Alma Elizabeth Warner and Geraldine Beegle, both of Cumberland; and eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Conway was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cumberland. She retired in 1985 as Librarian at American Philatellic of State College, and prior to that was a 1952 graduate of Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Cumberland.
She had been a softball player in high school in Cumberland. Her interests were her friends and in socializing.
Friends will be received at the Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Pastor T. Talbot-Moss officiating.
Interment will be in Centre Memorial Park, State College.
ALFRED A. DIPASQUALE
MEYERSDALE, Pa. - Alfred A. "Freddie" DiPasquale, 85, of Meyersdale, died Friday, July 31, 1998, at Meyersdale Manor.
Born April 8, 1913, in Shaw Mines, he was a son of the late Luigi and Antonia (DiCruzio) PiPasquale. He also was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph N. DiPasquale; and three sisters, Rose Spazzaferro, Viola Tattarelli and Ethel Navlisky.
He is survived his wife, the former Roseline Latlip. He and his wife are the kind and loving parents of four children, Louis F. DiPasquale and Diane M. DiPasquale, both of Meyersdale, Marion L. Shuttle, Rockwood, and Mary Ann Snyder, Somerset. He was the brother of Marcella Moore, Broomall. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Fred, Steve, Nick, Tony, Michael and Brian DiPasquale, and Angela and Kristen Snyder.
Mr. DiPasquale was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. A well-known businessman, Mr. DiPasquale with his father and his brother Joseph, owned and operated the DiPasquale Florist in Meyersdale for more than 50 years. DiPasquale Florist was a wholesale and retail business serving a 100-mile radius.
Friends will be received at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the SS. Philip & James Catholic Church, Meyersdale, Monday at 11 a.m. with Father Donald W. Dusza as celebrant.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
IRA L. BROOKE
BEDFORD, Pa. - Ira L. Brooke, 97, of Bedford, died Friday, June 5, 1998, at Bedford County Memorial Hospital.
Born July 30, 1900, in Clearfield County, he was the son of the late William and Sarah Ella (Marshall) Brooke. He also was preceded in death by one son, A. Donald Brooke; one great-grandson, Jordon R. Cox; one brother, Lloyd Brooke; and one sister, Grace Hearton. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Brooke was retired from the B&O; Railroad and was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Friends Cove.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Nellie (Emmart) Brooke; one son, Blair W. Brooke and wife Carole, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; one daughter, Colleen Cox and husband Donald, Route 4, Bedford; one daughter-in-law, Marie Brooke, Fort Ashby; six grandchildren, Kim Crowley, Scott Cox, Kenney Cox, Donna Brooke-Alt, Bill Brooke and Deanna Brooke; two step-grandchildren, David and Steve Cox; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David G. Borden officiating.
Interment will be in the Fort Ashby cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
ALMA MAE DODGE
SALISBURY, Pa. - Alma Mae (Blocher) Dodge, 83, of Ord St., Salisbury, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Dec. 6, 1915, in Salisbury, she was a daughter of the late Aden and Mildred Ruth (Hawn) Blocher. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Reuben E. Dodge, on Jan. 29, 1996; three brothers, Glenn, Roy and Fred Blocher; and two sisters, Vesta Blocher and Grace Brown.
Mrs. Dodge had been employed by the Acme Markets and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church Women.
She is survived by three sisters, Mary Harris, Havre de Grace, Md., Margie Tressler, Salisbury, Lois Blocher, Mobile, Ala., Sue Blocher, Conyers, Ga.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, Md., where services will be conducted on Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David E. Fetter officiating.
Interment will be in Salisbury cemetery.

DIED: Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Jennersville Regional Hospital Born in Chester, PA, he had been a resident of Aston, PA before moving to Nottingham, PA 8 years ago.
VETERAN: US Army serving during World War II
EMPLOYMENT: A Duie Pyle, Inc as a Driver for 10 years until his retirement in the late 1980's. PRIOR EMPLOYEMENT; Ewing Transportation as a Driver/Dispatcher for 40 years until they closed.
ORGANIZATIONS: A man who was devoted to his home and family. He and his family loved vacations in Ocean City, Maryland and he especially enjoyed boating and fishing. Mr. Murray enjoyed his work and never missed a day of work in 40 years. He was a member of the Teamsters.
Husband of the late Loretta (nee Guydes) Murray.
Father of the late Dawn Ahearn and Stephen Murray.
SURVIVORS: Survived by One Daughter: Gail H. Moore of Nottingham, PA; Two Brothers: Thomas Murray of Aston, PA and John Murray of Chichester, PA; Also survived by Three Grandchildren: James Moore of Nottingham, PA, Christopher Moore of West Chester, PA and Matthew Moore of Aston, PA; A Great-Grandson: Nicholas Moore of Nottingham, PA.
