DOROTHY M. MCCURDY
WILLOW STREET, Pa. - Dorothy M. McCurdy, 83, of Willow Street, and formerly of Grantsville, Md., died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster.
Born Oct. 21, 1916, in Greensburg, she was a daughter of the late Marshall A. and Josephine C. (Johnson) Butler.
Mrs. McCurdy was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde C. McCurdy; and one son, C. Lawrence McCurdy.
She was a retired cosmetologist and beautician, having operated Dottie's Beauty Shop in Grantsville for many years.
She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Willow Street.
Survivors include a son, Richard D. McCurdy, Frederick, Md.; a daughter, Charlotte McCurdy Marsh, Lancaster; a brother, Ray L. Butler, Greensburg; three sisters, Mildred Butler Ford, New Florence, Nancy Butler Maley, Clawson, Mich., Laura Butler Carnahan, Belle Vernon; four grandchildren, Denise Marsh Walton, Capt. William Dale Marsh II, Elizabeth Anne McCurdy, Michael Lawrence McCurdy; and three great-grandchildren, Ashlee Charlotte Walton, Sara Elizabeth Walton and Jonathan Jeffrey Lawrence Walton.
Friends will be received at Ascension Lutheran Church, Willow Street, Pa., on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time services will be conducted by the Rev. Anne R. Roser and the Rev. Timothy A. Roser officiating.
Friends will then be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Grantsville cemetery with the Rev. David E. Fetter officiating.
Interment will follow.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to either Ascension Lutheran Church or to Hospice of Lancaster County, Pa.
ROSE MARIE DAVOLL
ANTHONY, Fla. - Rose Davoll, 36, went home to be with her Lord on Aug. 23, 1998, after a long and brave battle with cancer.
A native of Hyndman, Pa., she has lived in the Anthony area since 1982. Rose worked as a supervisor for the University of Florida Horse Research Center. Her great love has been for her church at Unity Baptist in Anthony where she has served faithfully within its many ministries.
She is survived by many who love her and will miss her greatly. They include her husband, Jonathan Davoll; daughter, Chrystal Davoll, of the home; stepdaughter, Amanda Davoll, Citra; parents and step parents, Charles "Dick" and Joline Lowery of Cumberland, Md., and Brenda and Richard Davis, Ocala; grandparents, Evelyn Leydig, Belleview, and Carl and Dorothy Leydig, Cumberland; sisters, Kathy Flores, High Point, N.C., Christine DeLawder, Cumberland, and Crystal Murray, Cumberland; brothers, Phillip Lowery, Whitmore Lake, Mich., David Lowery, San Diego, Calif., and Shayne Ward, Cumberland.
Rose was truly an incredible woman who loved deeply, gave freely and trusted her Savior with everything.
Her memorial services will be handled by Hiers Funeral Home, Ocala.

MARY M. MCNEESE
DELAND, Fla. - Mary M. McNeese, 59, of Wisconsin Avenue, a cafeteria worker at DeLand High School, died Monday at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.
Mrs. McNeese was born in Cumberland, Md., and moved to DeLand in 1974 from Bedford, Pa.
She was a member of the YMCA and enjoyed gardening, cooking, camping and boating.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; two sons, Kevin Dunn, DeLand, and Danny Dunn, Deltona; three daughters, Colleen Rettman, Louisiana; Kathleen Hires and Erin Flowers, both of Pierson; a brother, Charles Ruppert, Westminster, Md.; two sisters, Kathleen Stafford, Cumberland, Md.; and Ann Horn, DeLand, and 15 grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32119.
Carpenter-Curry, DeLand, is in charge of arrangements.
CLYDE E. MELLOTT JR.
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Clyde Elvin Mellott Jr., 59, Second Ave., Hyndman, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Sept. 30, 1939, in Shippensburg, he was a son of Ethel (Kane) Mellott, Shippensburg, and the late Clyde E. Mellott Sr.
Mr. Mellott married
Beatrice A. (Alther) Mellott on August 6, 1960.
She survives along with two sons, Greggory E. Mellott and wife Sara, Shippensburg, and Richard Michael Mellott and wife Stephanie, Charleston, S.C.; one daughter, Julie E. Waugerman and husband Allen, Hyndman; one sister, Helen Devor, Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Greggory Mellott II, Allen III and Megan Waugerman; and several nieces and nephews.
In 1957, Mr. Mellott graduated from Shippensburg High School and attended Shippensburg State University from which he received a Masters degree.
Mr. Mellott worked as a secondary school teacher at Hyndman High School, retiring in 1996.
During his 35-year teaching career, Mr. Mellott served as coach for the wrestling team for 16 years.
In 1978, he was recognized as District 5 Coach of the Year.
For more than 15 years he served as Athletic Director, and was a member of the National Educators Association and the Pennsylvania State Educators Association.
Mr. Mellott attended Grace United Methodist Church and served on the board prior to his illness.
He was a member of AARP, NRA, Hyndman Rod and Gun Club and Buckmasters.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching his grandchildren participate in sports.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Sunday, Sept. 26 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Grace United Methodist Church, Hyndman, Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger A. Johnson and Rev. Julie L. Applegate officiating.
Interment will be in Hyndman cemetery.
VERNON "MIKE" NORTHCRAFT
ARTEMAS, Pa. - Vernon "Mike" Northcraft, 86, of Artemas, died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born July 23, 1912, in Northcraft, Pa., he was the son of the late Vernon Northcraft and the late Agnes (Smith) Northcraft.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bridget Isabelle Northcraft, on March 9, 1999; a brother, Theodore Northcraft; and three sisters, Delphine Clingerman, Zoe Fisher and Opal Smith.
Mr. Northcraft was a retired dairy farmer.
He was a member of Fairview Christian Church.
Surviving are a son, Edward V. Northcraft and wife, Beverly, Flintstone, Md.; a grandson, Shawn Northcraft and fiance, Jennifer, Flintstone; a brother, Leo Northcraft, Warfordsburg, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Fairview Christian Church with the Rev. Milton Morris officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview Christian cemetery.
