ALLAN D. DUNMEYER
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Allan Dwight Dunmeyer, 48, of Kennells Mill Road, Hyndman, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born June 5, 1950, in Kilmiton, Pa., he was a son of Elroy J. Dunmeyer, of Meyersdale, and the late Audrey D. (Verfoff) Dunmeyer.

Mr. Dunmeyer is survived by his wife of 26 years, Diane Lynn Dunmeyer, whom he married April 15, 1972; two sons, Leslie and wife Michelle, Cumberland, and Shawn, Kennells Mill; two daughters, Kelly Wolfe and husband Larry, Cumberland, and Stefanie Dunmeyer and fiance Jason, Kennells Mill; three sisters, Waneta Steinbiser, Youngwood, Pa., Mona Huffman, Hyndamn, and Gloria Bittner, Berlin, Pa.; and four grandchildren, Matthew Wolfe, Kyley Dunmeyer, Justin Dunmeyer and Tiffany Dunmeyer.

Mr. Dunmeyer was a disabled Vietnam veteran. He served in the U.S. Army where he earned the Army Commendation Medal with "V"Device, the Air Medal, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, and the Expert Gunner Badge with Mortar Bar 81MM. He attended the Calvary Bible Church, Ellerslie, and the Hostler Church of the Brethren, Meyersdale. He was a member of the D.A.V. of America Chapter 102, Moose Chapter 271, and the Kennells Mill Sportsman Club.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ken L. Korns officiating.

Interment will be in the Comps cemetery. The Fort Bedford Honor Guard will accord Mr. Dunmeyer military honors.

JOHN J. DURRETT
HYNDMAN, Pa. - John James Durrett, 83, of 463 Cooks Mill Road, Hyndman, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born June 19, 1915, in Cumberland, Md, he was the son of the late Roy Durrett and the late Artie (Stevenson) Durrett. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Roy Lee Durrett.

Mr. Durrett was a 1936 graduate of Penn Avenue High School. He was a retired parts manager at Spoerl's with 50-plus years of service. He was a 50-plus-year-member of Kingsley United Methodist Church.

Mr. Durrett was a member of the Ohr Lodge 131 AF & AM, Scottish Rite, Ali Ghan Temple, Antioch Commandery 6 Knights Templar, Ali Ghan Shrine Railroad Unit, Salem Royal Arch Masonry Chapter 18, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Loyal Order of Moose 271, Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion, Henry Hart Post 1411 VFW, State Trooper Lodge 40, and a charter member of the Maryland Sheriff's Institute and Golden Age Eagle Aerie 245. He was a veteran of the U.S Army/Air Corps of World War II.

Surviving are a wife, Adella Ruth (Boor) Durrett, Hyndman; a stepson, Sheldon Wagner, Hagarstown, Md.; two stepdaughters, Margaret Ruth Wagner, Albuquerque, N.M., and Elizabeth Ann Wagner-Simmons and husband Herbert, Everett; a sister, Alice Reitz, Williamsburg, Va.; three step-grandchildren, Connie Campitell, Martinsburg, W.Va., Bridgette Wagner, Albuquerque, and Matthew Simmons, Everett; three step-great-granddaughters; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating.

Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

Ohr Lodge will conduct a memorial service on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Kingsley United Methodist Church or Sheppard's Unit of Ali Ghan Shrine Club.

WALTER L. ELLIOTT
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Walter Leroy "Bud" Elliott, 88, of Hyndman, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Windber Hospital, Windber, Pa.

Born Oct. 21, 1910, in Bedford County, Pa., he was the son of the late Milton and Catherine (Smith) Elliott. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Leona Margaret Elliott.

Mr. Elliott is survived by one son, Jimmy T. Elliott and wife, Evelyn, Hyndman; one daughter, Mona Lee Lafferty and husband, Fred, Buffalo Mills, Pa.; two brothers, Chester L. Elliott, Hyndman, and Elmer Elliott, Ohio; one sister, Catherine M. Smith, Hyndman; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Elliott retired in 1972 after a 35 year career as a conductor for the B and O Railroad. He was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God, Hyndman.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Friday, Oct. 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and at Glad Tiding Assembly of God on Saturday, Oct. 9, from noon to 1 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the church on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gregory Sinclair, the Rev. James Hodges and the Rev. Richard Schrinco, officiating.

Interment will be in the Hyndman cemetery.

D. DONALD EMERICK
WELLERSBURG, Pa. - D. Donald "Sacum" Emerick, 64, of Wellersburg, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.

Born May 5, 1935, in Ellerslie, Md., he was the son of the late Lester C. and Florence Alverta (Lowery) Emerick.

Surviving are his wife, Nellie Leweze (Weimer) Emerick; three daughters, Linda Swickard, Cresaptown, Md., Donna Emerick, Wellersburg, and Crystal Emerick, Cumberland; two brothers, Leslie "Sam" Emerick, Wellersburg, and Fay Marvin "Solly" Emerick, Montgomery, Ala.; three sisters, Patricia "Pat" Perdew, Montgomery, Ala., Paulette "Gerb" McCoy, Stringtown, and Beverly Sue Keifer, Cumberland; and two grandsons, Joseph Rice Jr., LaVale, and Crispin Swickard, Cresaptown.

Mr. Emerick, a veteran of the U.S. Army, worked as a manager for over 39 years for Acme Mills. He was Past Master of Masonic Order #154, and was Provost Guard at the Ali Ghan Shrine Club, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Tuesday, Nov. 9, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Mount Savage Masonic Lodge will honor Mr. Emerick with a service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in the Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The Fort Bedford Honor Guard will confer military honors.

HOWARD E. "GENE" EVANS
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Howard Eugene "Gene" Evans, 84, of Clarence Street, Hyndman, formerly of Utah Avenue, Cumberland, died Thursday, July 1, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born March 18, 1915, in Hyndman, he was a son of the late Mahlon and Edna Rae (Pierson) Evans. Following the tragic death of his mother in 1918, his maternal grandparents, the late Howard and Margaret Pierson, raised him.

Mr. Evans is survived by a son, Charles B. Halligan and wife, Joan, San Jose, Calif.; two daughters, Mary B. Stanfield and husband, Dallas, Bokeelia, Fla., and Shirley J. Moffitt, Tucson, Ariz.; two half-brothers, Glenn and Ray Evans, both of Hyndman; a half-sister, Idella Evans, Hyndman; cousin-caregivers, Linda and Katrina Appling; cousin Harold E. Sherman, with whom he lived; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

N. Margaret Evans, to whom he was married on Feb. 9, 1966; a grandchild; two half-sisters; and a half-brother also preceded him in death.

Mr. Evans was a graduate of Hyndman High School and the Pittsburgh School of Aeronautics. He was a lifelong member of First United Church of Christ-Hyndman. He was a member of the American Rose Society and had won many awards for his roses. He had retired from Martin Marietta Corporation and worked for many years in the Dietary Department of Cumberland Memorial Hospital.

Since suffering a stroke in 1995, Mr. Evans became an active participant in the Adult Day Care program, Bedford, which, under the direction of Peggy Snyder, was the brightest part of his week.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Tuesday, July 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the First United Church of Christ-Hyndman, Market Street, Hyndman, on Wednesday, July 7, at 2 p.m. with

Pastor Steven L. Craft, First UCC-Hyndman, the Rev. Edward C. Chapman, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Cumberland, and the Rev. David L. Wright, Christ-Providence Lutheran Parish, officiating.

Interment will be in Hyndman cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to First UCC, P.O. Box 214, Hyndman, PA 15545.

VIRGINIA J. EYLER
EVERETT, Pa. - Virginia Jean Eyler, 74, of North Spring Street, Everett, died on March 19, 1999, in Penn Knoll Village.
She was born July 3, 1924, in Artemas, a daughter of the late Albert and Sadie (Weicht) Shipley.

She was first married on June 23, 1947, in Everett to Alton E. Wright, who preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1957.

On Sept. 9, 1972, she married Dr. J. Albert Eyler, who survives, along with three sons, Edward A. Wright, Lake Tahoe, Calif., Gary A. Wright, Annapolis, Md., and Ronald R. Wright, Everett; one granddaughter, Leah N. Wright, Annapolis, Md.; two step daughters, Lynne, wife of Robert Martin, Indiana, Pa., and Janice, wife of Gerald Hess, Lancaster; five step grandchildren; and sisters, Ethel Smith, Flintsone, Md., Bertha Smith, Baltimore, Md., Sylvia Roeder, Palm Coast, Fla.; sister-in-law, Margaret Shipley, Davidsville, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her step mother, Maggie Riggleman; and a sister, Daisy Shaffer; brothers, Ralph Shipley and Roy Shipley.

She was a member of Christ's Community Church at Old Bedford Village, a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the UPMC-Bedford Memorial Hospital, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Bedford Chapter #41.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, March 21, 3 p.m. at the Christ's Community Church at Old Bedford Village, with the Reverends John and Kim Bennett officiating.

Friends will be received at the church one-half hour prior to services on Sunday.

The Order of the Eastern Star will conduct services at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday at the church.

If friends so desire, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Bedford Chapter, in memory of Mrs. Jean Eyler, or to Christ's Community Church, Old Bedford Village.

Arrangements are being handled by the Dalla Valle Funeral Service Inc., Main Street, Everett.

Private interment will be in the Everett cemetery.
