EMMA GRACE DEANER
BERLIN, Pa. - Emma Grace Deaner, 79, of White Horse Road, Berlin, died March 19, 1999, at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital, Johnstown.
She was born May 31, 1919, in Brothersvalley Township, a daughter of Alton and Mabel (Hentz) Coleman. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Daniel Lynn Deaner.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard E.; and these sons, Wayne, married to the former Donna McCurdy, Saxonburg, Ronald married to the former Donna Stern, Somerset, Larry, married to the former Kay Will, and Lynn married to the former Marjorie Vaughn, both of Berlin; grandchildren, Brenda Negley, Carrie Vernon, Bryan, Dawn, Adam and Douglas Deaner; great-grandchildren, Levi and Olivia Grace Negley; brothers Devon and John Coleman.
She was a foster mother to 14 boys, including Joseph Brothers, Somerset. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Berlin, where she served as president of the Women's Fellowship, and headed the refreshment committee for Bible School. She was Lecturer of the Valley Grange, a member of Second Society of Farm Women, Berlin Historical Society, Berlin Community Fair Committee, and Mountaineer Homemakers.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Carl W. Schwarm and the Rev. Ralph G. Landis will officiate.
Interment will be in Mount Lebanon cemetery, Glencoe.

OPAL A. DAVIS
WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Opal Armeda Davis, age 71, of HCR 80, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at the Western Maryland Hospital Center in Hagerstown, Md.
Born Aug. 22, 1927, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Dorey Franklin and Blanche Ray Robinette.
She was retired from Londontown Manufacture in Hancock as a seamstress, and she was a member of the Buck Valley Christian Church in Buck Valley.
She is survived by three daughters, Geraldine R. Burton, Beverly A. Malott and Brenda L. Poole, all of Warfordsburg; three sons, Arnold R. Davis, Warfordsburg, Kenneth T. Davis, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Ronald L. Davis, Reno, Nev.; six sisters, Lena Payne, Baker, W.Va., Esther Newton, Deridder, La., Velda Clanton, Eunice C. Robinette and Norma Robinette, all of Hagerstown, and Charlotte Clippinger, Needmore; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald L. Robinette and John Robinette; and one grandson, Ronald L. Davis Jr.
Services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the Buck Valley Christian Church. The Rev. William Swope will officiate.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, and at the church one hour prior to the service. For the convenience of friends the funeral home will be open on Tuesday from noon to 9 p.m.
JOHNSON C. DEVORE III
BURGETTSTOWN, Pa. - Johnson C. DeVore III, 68, of 62 Spruce Lane, Burgettstown, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at his residence.
Born Sept. 14, 1931, in Frostburg, Md., he was the son of the late Johnson C. DeVore II and Elizabeth (Thorp) DeVore. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Mollie L. (Wilt) DeVore, June 24, 1997.
Mr. DeVore was a member of the Unity Gospel Church, Burgettstown, and was a National Guard veteran. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Indian Association, American Legion and Logstown Association. He was a retired carpenter.
Surviving are three daughters, Dorothy Orgovan, Chester, W.Va., Mary K. Broadwater, Barton, Md., and Debra Speer, Burgettstown; one brother, William O. DeVore, Niles, Ohio; one sister, Mary Carter, Mount Savage, Md.; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, Md., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. James Boyer officiating.
Interment will be in the Bittinger (Md.) cemetery.
MAXINE E. DASH
WINTER PARK, Fla.-Maxine Esther Dash, 84, formerly of Delmont, Pa., died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at Regent's Park Nursing Home, Winter Park.
Born Nov. 18, 1914, in Ellerslie, Md., she was a daughter of the late John Richard and Minnie Blanche (Lowery) Close.
Mrs. Dash is survived by a son, John A. Dash and wife, Sandra, Orlando; two granddaughters, Jennifer Dash, New York, N.Y., and Erica Dash, Orlando; a brother, Richard L. Close and wife, Nina, Ellerslie; two nieces, Mrs. Duane (Betty) Shaffer and Peggy Emerick, both of Ellerslie; and two nephews, the Rev. Robert Close and wife, Phyllis, Lewisburg, Pa., and Charles Close and wife, Georgia, Hyndman, Pa.
She was preceded in death in 1975 by her husband of 36 years, Ellis Ervin Dash; a son, James E. Dash; and a brother, Clifton H. Close, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Dash was a homemaker and a member of the Holiday Park United Methodist Church. She moved to Winter Park in 1994.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rebecca J. Vardiman officiating.
Interment will be in Palo Alto cemetery, Hyndman.
HAROLD D. DIEHL
WELLERSBURG, Pa. -Harold ``Duck" Devon Diehl, 74, of Wellersburg, died Sunday, March 28, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born April 2, 1924, in Mount Savage, Md., he was a son of the late John Frank and Lula Ann (Michaels) Diehl. Three brothers and two sisters also preceded Mr. Diehl in death.
Mr. Diehl is survived by his wife, Mary Susan (Witt) Diehl; a son, Dwayne and fiancee Karla Hildreth of Wellersburg; a daughter, Cynthia Susan Linn and husband Ronnie of Mount Savage; four brothers, James and wife Jean of Ithaca, Mich., John L., Joseph O., Herbert and wife Jean, all of Mount Savage; a special nephew, Joseph Diehl of York, Pa.; two sisters, Mary Flanigan and husband Michael of Mount Savage and Thresa Pendleton and husband Phil of Safety Harbor, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Kayla and Ryan Diehl, Jeremy Ravenscraft, and Amanda and Veronica Linn.
Mr. Diehl was retired from CSX Corporation as a crane operator. He was a member of the New Hope United Church of Christ, Meyersdale. He was a charter member of the Wellersburg Fire Company and President since 1961. For the last 20 years, Mr. Diehl was in charge of the weekly Saturday night chicken fry at the Wellersburg Fire Company.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Pa., on Monday, March 29, from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday, March 30, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 31, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Welsh officiating.
Interment will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Wellersburg Fire Company.
LEROY A. DIXON
NEW OXFORD, Pa. - Leroy A. Dixon, 86, of 407D Peace Circle, New Oxford, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at The Brethren Home, New Oxford.
Born on July 29, 1913, in Waterloo, Iowa, he was the son of the late Wilbur J. and Anna Kessler Dixon.
Mr. Dixon was a member of the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church. He was a 1935 graduate of Illinois University. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad for 35 years and was superintendent of Equipment for the southwestern division prior to his retirement in 1970. He was a former president of the Kiwanas Club in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. He was a part member of the Masonic Lodge, Altoona, Pa.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ruth Berry Dixon; two sons, Wayne Dixon, of Gettysburg, Pa., Hugh Dixon, of Los Angeles, Calif.; two grandchildren; and a brother, Merrill Dixon, of Troy, MI.
Graveside services and interment will be held at the Evergreen cemetery, Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel T. Hans, officiating.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Monahan Funeral Home, Gettysburg, Pa.
