HELEN I. BITTNER
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Helen I. (Burkett) Bittner, 79, of Hyndman, died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at Meadowveiw Nursing Center, Berlin.
Born March 8, 1920, in Hyndman, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Pleasant A. (Hite) Burkett.
On April 23, 1991, Mrs. Bittner was preceded in death by her husband, of 52 years, Carl W. Bittner; sister, Mildred Burkett Emerick; and one great-granddaughter, Janel Gillingham, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bittner is survived by two sons, Terrance W. and wife, Glenda, of Glencoe, Pa., and Jay L., of Cresaptown; two daughters, Cheryl S. Kuster and husband, Robert, and Pamela K. Bittner, both of Ashboro, NC; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bittner worked as a laborer for the Kelly Springfield Tire Corporation, and a clerk for Gross Cleaners of Hyndman. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Hyndman, for over 50 years.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeighler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Julie L. Applegate, officiating.
Interment will be in Hyndman cemetery.
Mrs. Bittner's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
RONALD L. "BOUB" EMERICK JR.
WELLERSBURG, Pa. - Ronald "Boub" Lee Emerick Jr., 28, of Wellersburg, died Monday, March 22, 1999, at University Hospital, Baltimore, Md.
Born May 27, 1970, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of Ronald Lee Emerick Sr. and Karen (Blubaugh) Emerick, both of Wellersburg.
Mr. Emerick is also survived by his best friend and companion, Melissa S. Clites, mother of their daughter, Sadie Lynn Clites; a second daughter, Brittany S. Lindeman, who resides with him and his parents; a brother, Michael L. Emerick of Wellersburg, and a grandmother, Dolly Emerick.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Thursday, March 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, March 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, March 27, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Edward Shockie and Assistant Pastor Roger Huffman officiating. Interment will be in Comps cemetery.
DALE E. BLANK
POCAHONTAS, Pa. - Dale Eugene Blank, 55, of Pocahontas, died Friday, June 25, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born March 12, 1944, in Cumberland, he was a son of Dorothy E. (Blank) Blank of Wellersburg, and the late Raymond D. Blank.
Mr. Blank also is survived by his wife of 18 years, Margaret T. Blank; two sons, Joseph Michael Darvy and wife Bernadette, Fairfax, Va., and Montana William Blank, Pocahontas; four brothers, Leslie Blank and wife Laverne, Hyndman, Gary Blank and wife Louise, Eckhart, Md., and David Blank and wife Barbara and Dwayne Blank and wife Renee, all of Wellersburg; four sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Stott, Akron, Ohio, Joan Sager and husband Joe, Hyndman, Norma Middleton and husband Gerald, Frostburg, Md., and Diane DeHaven and husband James, Corriganville, Md.; and several special nieces and nephews.
Mr. Blank will be sadly missed by his in-laws Kitty and Joe Darvy of Frostburg.
Mr. Blank, a construction worker, served in the United States Marine Corps and attended the Ministry of the Living Temples.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Wednesday, June 30, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, July 1, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Nancy Clark officiating.
Interment will be in the Hyndman cemetery.
MILO H. CLEM JR.
HERSHEY, Pa. - Milo H. Clem Jr., 80, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey.
Mr. Clem was a former resident of Cumberland, Md. He was a Fort Hill High School alumnus who began working as an office boy for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Company in the summer of his 16th birthday.
In 1944 he married
June Elizabeth Kirk, also of Cumberland. The couple honeymooned in Niagara Falls before he was shipped overseas as a member of the U.S. Army's 4th Armored Division. Chief Petty Officer Clem was awarded the Bronze Star.
After World War II, Mr. Clem completed a course at Cathermine's Business School and continued working for the B&O; at Queen City Station. In 1964, he was promoted to the company's headquarters in Baltimore where he retired as Assistant Manager of Labor Relations after 35 years with the railroad.
Surviving are one son, David, a physical education teacher in Westminster, Md., one daughter, Mary Lou, a newspaper editor in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
"Anyone who knew Daddy in his later years knows that he is happily teeing off on that big golf course in the sky every morning, " his daughter remarked.

PAULINE E. BRANT
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Pauline Elizabeth (Bryant) Brant, 87, of Clarence Street, Hyndman, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at her residence.
Born June 17, 1911, in Hyndman, she was a daughter of the late Snively Keefer and Mary (Howser) Bryant. Her husband, Raymond Brant; one son, Robert Bryant; a sister; and seven brothers also preceded Mrs. Brant in death.
Her daughter, Bonnie Richotte and husband, Charles, Enfield, Conn.; five grandchildren, Sherry, Grady, Tracey, Michelle and Scott; and a great-grandchild, Danielle, survive Mrs. Brant.
Mrs. Brant was retired from the Fair Foot Shoe Factory and was a member and the pianist of Glad Tidings Tabernacle.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Thursday, April 29, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Glad Tidings Tabernacle on Friday, April 30, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gregory Sinclair officiating.
Interment will be in the Hyndman cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Glad Tidings Tabernacle and the Hyndman Area Health Center.
WILLIAM C. GARDNER
BEDFORD, Pa. - William C. ``Clyde" Gardner, 88, formerly of Bedford, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at the home of his daughter in Baltimore.
He was born June 26, 1910, in Bedford County, the son of the late Frederick and Mary Belle (Williams) Gardner. Mr. Gardner was preceded in death by his wife Elsie Catherine (Miller), on Aug. 12, 1989.
He is survived by the following children: Charles W. ``Skip" and wife Louise of Everett, Margaret C. ``Sue" and husband Clyde Leonardi of Baltimore, Harry P. and wife Debbie of Pearisburg, Va., John S. of Bedford, Pa., Jane and husband Daniel O'Brien and Kevin A., all of Manns Choice RD 1, and Keith A. and wife Julie of New Paris. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Tallon of Pinellas Park, Fla., and Alvernia ``Ebby" Barrett of Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. at the with the Rev. Dr. M. Edgar Datesman officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Thomas Catholic cemetery.
OLLIE M. BURKHOLDER
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Ollie Mae Burkholder, 95, formerly of Hyndman, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, at Penn Knoll Village, Everett, Pa.
Born April 24, 1904, in Garrett, she was a daughter of the late Ira and Susan (Frickey) Johnson.
Mrs. Burkholder is survived by a son, Eugene L. Burkholder and wife Anna of Big Fork, Minn.; a daughter, Irene A. Hite and husband Clarence of Hyndman; two brothers, Clarence Johnson of Johnstown and John Schrock and wife Donna of Summit Mills, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence J. Burkholder; one daughter; one brother; and four sisters.
Mrs. Burkholder was a homemaker and a member of the Cumberland Grace Brethren Church. She worked for several years in the Meyersdale Sewing Factory.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Raymond McCoy, Cumberland Grace Brethren Church, officiating.
Interment will be in the Meyersdale Union cemetery, Meyersdale.
