NELL F. COLLINS
HONEY BROOK, Pa. - Nell R. Collins, 89, of Honey Brook, died on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, in the Hickory House Nursing Home, after a brief illness.
Born in Lewisburg, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late James Franklin Floyd and Estelle Corlette Floyd. She was the wife of the late Robert O. Collins, who died on April 17, 1995.
Mrs. Collins was a former resident of Cumberland, and moved to Tel Hai Retirement Community, in Honey Brook, in July of 1991. She is a member of the Centre Street United Methodist Church, Cumberland, a member of the McKenly Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and the Ladies Schrine, Cumberland. She was also a member of the Optimist Club in Cumberland.
Surviving are a son, Scott C. Collins husband of Judy W. Collins, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two daughters, Robin C. Sheetz wife of Randall L. Sheetz, of Charles Town, W.Va., Brenda Dawn Budetto wife of Charles W. Budetto, of Downingtown, Pa.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bill Floyd, of Frederick.
Friends may call at the Tel Hai Chapel on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Tel Hai Chapel, Beaver Dam Road, Honey Brook, on Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Timothy Herr, officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac United Methodist cemetery, Potomac, at Monday 3:45 p.m.
DONALD H. EMERICK
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Donald Harvey Emerick, 65, of Hyndman, died Monday, March 8, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born May 26, 1933, in Fairhope, Pa., he was a son of the late Merle and Goldie (Shroyer) Emerick. One grandchild, Darla, also preceded him in death.
His wife, Norma Jean (Sheirer) Emerick; two sons, Daryl and Dean Emerick; and two brothers, John and Gerald Emerick, all from Hyndman, survive Mr. Emerick.
Mr. Emerick was retired from Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. He was a member of the Bible Gospel Church, Buffalo Mills.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Faye Leydig officiating.
Interment will be in Lybarger cemetery.
DALE EUGENE BAER
MEYERSDALE, Pa. - Dale Eugene Baer, 66, of 3562 Greenville Road, Meyersdale, died Monday, March 8, 1999, at Meyersdale Manor Nursing Home.
Born May 31, 1932, in Greenville Township, he was a son of the late Marshall and Tillie (Baer) Baer.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pocahontas, Pa. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was also a member of Grantsville Post #214, American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret C. (Drees) Baer; a son, David E. Baer, Meyersdale; a daughter, Theresa Kamp and husband, Ed, Grantsville; two brothers, Wayne Baer, Salisbury, Paul Baer, Meyersdale; a sister, Barbara Bodes, St. Paul, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Angie and Neil Kamp.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Bernard White officiating.
Interment will be in Finzel cemetery.
A Christian Wake service will be held on Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. in the funeral home.
Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by Grantsville Post #214, American Legion.
MARIE D. CRIDER
WAYNESBORO, Pa., - Marie Dora (Furlow) Crider, 80, of Waynesboro, died May 17, 1999.
Born June 5, 1918, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Elmer C. and Tiny L. (O'Baker) Furlow, Mount Savage, Md.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow W. 'Pete' Crider Sr., May 15, 1995; and one brother, Elmer C. Furlow Jr., Feb. 29, 1995.
She is survived by one son, Woodrow W. Crider Jr.; one sister, Loretta Merbaugh, Potomac Park, Cumberland, Md.; and one brother, Lester Furlow, Mount Savage, Md.
NELLIE G. BOONE
UNIONTOWN, Pa. - Nellie Glynn Boone, 85, formally of 833 Gephart Drive, Cumberland, Md., died Saturday, March 27, 1999, at Mount St. Macrina Nursing Home, Uniontown.
Born Feb. 4, 1914, in Aberdeen, S.D., she was the daughter of the late John H. Kidwell and the late Laura (Wright) Kidwell. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Boone; and a son.
Mrs. Boone was a retired employee of the Celanese Corporation of America.
Surviving are a nephew, Arnold Clements, Connellsville, Pa.
Mrs. Boone's wishes were that she be cremated at The Cumberland Crematory, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland.
No services and no visitation are scheduled at this time.
The Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, was in charge of arrangements.
LOLA M. CONNELLY
FURLONG, Pa. - Lola M. Connelly of Furlong, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1998, in her sleep at Pine Run Health Center.
She was the wife of the late John E. Connelly, who passed away December 1992. She has resided in Furlong with her son, John, and family since 1993.
She was the beloved mother of John, Richard Connelly, Kirtland, Ohio, and Dr. Steven Connelly, Canton, Ohio. She is survived by her sister, Nellie Thomas, Moorefield, W.Va.; and eight loving grandchildren.
Born in Moorefield, she resided in Cleveland, Ohio, as a homemaker, a den mother and a homeroom mother since 1950. She was a resident of Willowick, Ohio, and a member of St. Mary Magdalene Church from 1967 until her move to Furlong.
Graveside memorial services will be held at Rocky Gap Veterans cemetery, Cumberland, Md., in late April. She was loved by all and will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.
VIOLET V. ARNOLD
MEYERSDALE, Pa. - Violet V. Arnold, 78, of Meyersdale, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Aug. 2, 1920, in Finzel, Md., she was a daughter of the late Edward G. and Velma (Wagner) Baker.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Owen F. Arnold; five daughters, Shelba, wife of Roland Coburn, Jamesville, N.C., Jane, wife of Paul Brode, and Mildred, wife of Anthony Milcetich, both of Frostburg, Md., Lois, wife of Dennis Cook, Corriganville, Md., and Darlene, wife of John Bull, Pasadena, Md.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three brothers and three sisters, Carl Baker, Finzel, Edward Baker, Heath, Ohio, Everett Baker, Rock Hill, S.C., June Fissell, Fort Washington, Md., Lillian Crowe, Frostburg, and Janice Wilhelm, Walton Hills, Ohio.
Mrs. Arnold was a member of the New Hope United Church of Christ.
Friends will be received at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Lamar Bender officiating.
Interment will be in the Greenville Union cemetery.
