Donald "Ducky" Hughes, 72, of 1936 Walnut Street Ashland. passed away Monday,
May 5th, 2008 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading, PA.
Born in Ashland, PA November 30, 1935 he was the son of the late Frederick and Dorothy (Walsh) Hughes. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Ashland.
A United States Army Veteran serving in Viet Nam and also serving in the military for 27 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Ashland and a member of the V.F.W. Post of Ashland. He was a member of the Good Fellowship Club, Ashland.
Preceding him in death was a brother Edward Hughes in 1976.
Surviving are his wife Kyung (Yun) Hughes, Ashland
A daughter survives: Susan wife of Len Schistle, Shenandoah Heights, PA.
Surviving are two sisters - three brothers:
Joyce Schenk, Ashland; Linda McCaffrey, Florida.
Charles Hughes of Ashland; Walter Hughes, Ashland; & James Hughes, Breiningsville, PA.
One grandson survives: Lenny Schistle, Shenandoah Heights, PA
Nieces and Nephews survive
Memorial Services will be held at St. Joseph's Church, Ashland, PA, at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 9th, 2008 with Rev. Adam C. Sedar officiating.
Interment at Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville, PA.
Visitation Friday 9:30-10:30 AM from St. Joseph's Church, Ashland, PA.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph's Church, 1117 Walnut Street,
Ashland, PA 17921. Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland is in charge of arrangements.

BRADY E. FETTEROLF (three months old) of Gordon died unexpectedly Thursday
May 8, 2008 at his residence in Gordon, PA
Born in Pottsville, PA Feb. 11, 2008 he was the son of Crystal Fetterolf of Gordon, PA.
Surviving are his grandparents Lena and Dale Kimmel of Gordon and
Robert Malia of Mt. Carmel, PA.
Great grandparents Emma Fetterolf of Ashland and Harold Fetterolf of Jacksonville,
Florida survives. Great grandmother Bertha Malia of Ashland survives. Preceding him in death was his great grandfather: Edward Malia.
Surviving are his God Parents: Jennifer and Bryan Kimmel of Gordon, PA.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 12, 2008 at 11:00 AM in Simpson United Methodist Church, Gordon, PA. Rev. John Wallace officiating.
Interment in St. Joseph's cemetery, Fountain Springs, PA.
Visitation Monday 10:00 - 11:00 AM in Simpson United Methodist Church, Gordon, PA. Kull- Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland is in charge of arrangements

Sandra Dietz, 50, of 393 Beury's Road Ashland. passed away Friday, May 9th, 2008 at St. Catherine Medical Center, Ft. Springs, , PA.
Born in Patterson, New Jersey November 4, 1957 she was the daughter of
Maxillian and Suzette (Bourlez) Koberle. She graduated from Patterson High School and worked as a web designer for Dietz Designs, Ashland, PA.
Surviving are her husband James Dietz, Ashland, PA
One son one daughter survive: Richard Flanagan, Coaldale, PA and Stephanie
Flanagan of Ashland. Her mother in law: Leah Dietz of Ashland survives.
Services will be held at the convenience of the Family.

Karen Weyman, 52, of Girardville. passed away Saturday, May 17th, 2008 at Pottsville Hospital, Pottsville, PA.
Born in Ashland, PA she was the daughter of Ann (Kraph) McAndrew, Girardville, PA and the late Bernard T. McAndrew. She was of the Catholic Faith; graduated from
North Schuylkill High School Class of 1974.
In addition to her Mother she is survived by her husband Edward Weyman, Girardville, PA
Two sisters - one brother survive: Joanne wife of Jim Webb of Cary, N C.;
Linda wife of John Miller of Frackville, PA and Brother Bernard husband of Melanie McAndrew of Lavelle, PA.
Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles & Cousins survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul
Church, Girardville, PA, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 21st, with Rev. Gregory R. Karpyn officiating. Interment at St. Vincent's cemetery, Frackville, PA.
Visitation Wednesday 9:00-10:30 AM. from the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home in Ashland, PA. Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home Ashland, PA is in charge of arrangements.

Lamar F. Gross, 89, of Lavelle, PA passed away Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 at Pottsville Hospital, Pottsville, PA.
Born in Lavelle, PA November 19, 1918 he was the son of the late John L. and Emma Gross. He was a member of Grace E. C. Church, Lavelle. Served in the United States Army World War I I. He attended Lavelle Schools.
A daughter survives: Shirley wife of William Reed of Ashland, PA.
Three grandchildren survive.
Services were held Tuesday, May 27, 2008 from the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, PA, with Rev. Rose Marquardt officiating.
Interment in Citizens cemetery, Lavelle, PA.

Catherine E. "Kitty" Miller, 86, of 261 Germanville Road Ashland. passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, June 7th, 2008 at 261 Germanville Road, Ashland, PA. She had been in ill health for several months.
She was born in Byrnesville, PA July 23, 1921 the daughter of the late Thomas F and Margaret (Flannery) Brennan. She was a graduate of Conyngham Twp. High School and the Ashland Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a private duty nurse until her retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Ashland and a former member of St. Ignatius Church, Centralia. Catherine was devoted to her Religion and Family. She loved life, enjoyed music, cooking, sewing, and being with Family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Martin L. Miller in 1995. Three daughters preceded her in death: Theresa E. Feeney, 1999; Mary Ellen and Catherine Elizabeth who died in infancy. Two brothers preceded her in death: Thomas F. Brennan & Thomas Brennan. Four sisters preceded her in death:
Margaret Loeper, Mary Dillard, Gertrude Brennan and Joan Morris.
Surviving are a daughter: Margaret Mary "Meg" Finlan, Ashland. Six grandchildren survive: Rev. Robert T. Finlan, Bethlehem, PA; Martin J. Finlan, Lavelle, PA; John M. Feeney, Allentown, PA; James Feeney, Germanville, PA; Catherine Feeney, Germanville, PA & Robert Feeney, Germanville, PA.
A son-in-law survives; John Feeney, Germanville; sister- in law: Mrs. Thomas (Em)
Brennan, Louisiana; Brother in law:LeeRoy Miller, Royersford, PA.
Nieces and Nephews survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Joseph's Church, Ashland, PA, at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 12th, Rev. Robert Finlan officiating.
Interment at St. Joseph's cemetery Ashland, , PA.

Mary Louise Williams, 87, Bridgton, NJ. formerly of Ashland, PA passed away Saturday, June 7th, 2008 at the South Jersey Hospice Care in Bridgton, N. J.
Born in Ashland May 15, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Albert and Grace
(Green) Goyne. She was a member of the Union Chapel of the Church in New Jersey and previous member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Ashland.
She graduated from Ashland High School Class of 1939 and a graduate of Penn State University. She was a member of the Penn State Alumni Club, the Penn State Nittany Lion Club and was very active with the Girl Scouts of America.
Preceding her in death was her husband Thomas T. Williams in 1987.
She was preceded in death by her sister: Dr. Grace G. Goyne
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. from the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home in Ashland, PA. Rev. Carol Kehler will officiate the Service. Interment in Christ Church cemetery, Fountain Springs, PA.
Visitation Thursday 12:00 Noon until the time of Service.

Atty. Harry Strouse, 96, of Ashland, PA died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at St. Catherine Medical Center in Fountain Springs, PA.
Born in Lansord, PA May 14, 1912 he was the son of the late Edward D. and Emma Engel Strouse.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mabel (Kehler) Strouse who died in 1992.
Surviving are two sons: Atty. Robert H. Strouse of West Chester, PA and Atty. Kieth J. Strouse of Pottsville, PA.
Atty. Strouse graduated from Ashland High School in 1929, from Lafayette College
Summa cum laude in 1933 and the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1936. At college he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
He served in the United States Army World War I I, principally in the Intelligence Office at Hampton Roads Port of Embarkation, Newport News, VA..
He was admitted to the Bar on January 11, 1937 and served as Solicitor for the Ashland Borough for over 24 years. He served as a Director from 1965 and as President from 1981 of the then Citizens National Bank of Ashland until its merger with Community Banks.
Locally he was a member of Zion's Reformed Church, Ashland Elks, American Legion and Ashland Lodge No 294 F&AM which he was a Past Master.
He was one of the original organizers and Directors of Ashland Chamber of Commerce, Brock cemetery Association and Pioneer Tunnel. He was also one of the founders of Ashland Trusts, now Schuylkill Area Community Foundation.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 26, 2008 in Christ Church cemetery,
Fountain Springs, PA. Rev. J. Rex Thomas officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to Schuylkill Area Community Foundation, 216 S. Center St., Pottsville, PA 17901 or The Schuylkill County Bar Association, Law Lab, Schuylkill County Courthouse, Pottsville, PA 17901.
