Laura Hosler
Laura Hosler, 93, of Orange, Calif., died Oct. 29, in the Fountain Care Center, Orange, Calif.
Born in Lewistown Valley, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Agnes (Houser) Kistler and was employed as a dietary aide at the Orange County Hospital until her retirement.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Frank Hosler; brothers, James and George; and a sister, Mildred Kleckner.
Surviving are sisters, Arlene Shelhammer, Joshua Tree, Calif., and Alberta Arner, Orange, Calif.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Lamar Christ Funeral Home, 31 Mahanoy Ave., Hometown.
Friends may call from noon until the time of service in the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Odd Fellows cemetery, Tamaqua with the Rev. Doug French, her nephew, officiating.

Edward Torres
Edward Torres, 15, of 32 W. Maple St., died Sunday morning as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident early Sunday morning on Interstate 81, near Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Jose Guitierres and Anastcia Torres, Hazleton and was a student at Hazleton Area High School.
Surviving in addition to his parents are sisters, Annabella, Rosalba, and Claribel Torres, all at home; and a brother, Jason Torres, at home.
A number of uncles, aunts and cousins also survive.
Friends and relatives may call today at St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church, 122 S. Wyoming St., Hazleton from 2 to 8 p.m. to pay their respects. A wake service will be held at 6 p.m., another viewing will be held in New York City.
Interment will take place in the Dominican Republic.
Arrangements are under the direction of Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Inc., 542-544 N. Wyoming St., Hazleton.

Robert E. Wech
Robert E. Wech, 75, of Mechanicsburg, died Oct. 31 at his home.
Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Carl and Margaret Wech, and was raised in Hazleton.
He was a lifetime member of the Diamond Fire Company No. 2, Hazleton. Mr. Wech was an avid amateur ham radio operator under the call sign, W3Zkl, and was a member of the American Radio Relay League Inc., and the Quarter Century Wireless Association.
Mr. Wech was a Merchant Marine and an Army veteran.
Before retiring in 1988, Mr. Wech was employed for 31 years with Murata-Erie N. A., formerly located in Carlisle.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were brothers, Donald C., and Jay W.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, the former Dorothy Stash; a son, Robert, Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Patricia Wech Kanarr, Dillsburg; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Burial will be at Mt. Laurel cemetery, Hazleton.

Sandra L. Brown
Sandra L. Brown, R.R. 3, Bloomsburg, formerly of Nescopeck, died Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Wendy) Webb, following a four year illness.
Born in Shamokin, Jan. 7, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Fern (Troutman) Schickley, she spent the past six months in Bloomsburg prior to that she lived in Nescopeck.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was a son, Harry, in 1988.
Surviving in addition to her daughter, with whom she resided, are her husband of 44 years, Harry J., Bloomsburg; sons, John, Berwick; Thomas, Nescopeck; daughters, Mrs. John (Beverly) Fearon, Nescopeck; Mrs. Lewis (Tina) Mellor, Berwick, and Mrs. Cecil (Candy) Turberville, Mifflinville; brother, William 'Butch' Schickley, Sybertsville; a sister, Mrs. Thomas (Jane) Proto, Berwick; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Dennison Funeral Home, 44 Main St., Vincentown, N.J. The Rev. Cecil Turberville, son-in-law of the deceased, will officiate the service.
Burial will be in the Junior Mechanics cemetery, Tabernacle, N.J.
Friends may call at the Dennison Funeral Home Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Emil '˜Toots' Pollack
Emil 'Toots' Pollack, of 16, Laurel Lane, Freeland, died at his residence Tuesday morning.
Born in Freeland, he was the son of the late Michael and Julia (Dano) Pollack and was a member of St. John Nepomucence Roman Catholic Church, Freeland.
He owned and operated Toots Pollack Gas Station, Freeland for many years and later operated the same garage on the Freeland-Drums Highway.
He was affiliated with American Automobile Association and graduated from MMI in 1945 and the General Motors Technology School.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were a son, Michael, in March 2001; and a brother, John, in March 2002.
Surviving are his wife Eleanor (Hudock) Pollack; and a sister, Irene Kempchinsky, Drifton.
Three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from Cotteral-Petrilli Funeral Home, 706 Birkbeck St., Freeland.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. John Nepomucene R.C. Church.
Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Freeland Roman Catholic Community Bereavement Committee will host services at the funeral home Thursday evening.

Louise M. Kashimba
Louise M. Kashimba, 81, a resident at Mountain City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazleton, died early Tuesday morning at the Greater Hazleton Health Alliance, Broad Street Campus.
Born in Hazleton February 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Louise (Hasselberger) Stabert and spent most of her life in West Hazleton.
She was a member of the West Hazleton High School Class of 1939, and was a member of the West Hazleton Trinity Lutheran Church.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Paul; sisters, Ruth Stabert, and Elizabeth Johns; and brothers, William Stabert and Emil Stabert.
Surviving are her son, Paul T. Kashimba, Boca Raton, Fla.; brother, Marvin Stabert, Hazleton; and a sister, Sophie Henry, Macon, Ga.
Two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Mountain View cemetery, West Hazleton for a graveside memorial service, which will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Thomas Cvammen will preside.
Memorial donations may be made to West Hazleton Trinity Lutheran Church.

Lewis A. Wetzel
Lewis A. Wetzel, 82, of Blue Bell, formerly of Doylestown, died Sunday from complications associated with ALS Lou Gehrig's Disease.
Born in Lavelle, June 3, 1920, he was the son of the late Lewis and Blanche Wetzel and was a member of the Doylestown Presbyterian Church.
He graduated from Ashland High School and Carnegie Institute of Technology with a masters degree in chemistry.
Mr. Wetzel was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in Africa. Following that, he became a member of the Army Reserves, retiring as captain.
He was employed for 37 years for Rohm and Haas in research and international marketing and was an avid golfer. Mr. Wetzel also enjoyed singing as a member of college glee clubs, church choirs, and The Leisure Time Singers of the Barber Shop Harmony Society.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Jean (Bensinger) Wetzel, Blue Bell; daughter, Paula W. Schmid, Danville; son, Perry L. Wetzel, Telford; sisters, Grace W. Baum, Carlisle and Jane W. Kyler, Ashland; and a brother, Homer Wetzel, Ashland.
Five grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held at Normandy Farms Estates, Blue Bell, Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m.
Interment will be in Christ Church cemetery, Fountain Springs at the convenience of the family.
