Lucinda E. Pearson Butz
Lucinda E. Pearson Butz, 94, of Bethlehem formerly of Hellertown died Apr. 9, 2003 at the Blough Health Care, Bethlehem, Pa.
She was the wife of the late Corson D. Butz and the late Paul A. Pearson.
Born in Lower Saucon Twp. she was the daughter of the late Preston T. and Ellie (Ebert) Laubach.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Springtown.
She was a member of the Women of Lutheran Evangelical Church of America and Senior Citizens Group, Springtown.
She is survived by two sons, Leon P. of Bethlehem and Dr. Richard E. of Brick, N.J.; two brothers, Wilmer of Butztown, and William of Allentown; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Kenneth P.
Services were held Apr. 12. Interment was in Springfield cemetery, Springfield Township.

Anna Scheetz
Anna Scheetz, 80, of Coopersburg died Apr. 11, 2003 in Genesis Eldercare, Quakertown.
She was the wife of the late Russell W. Scheetz.
Born in Quakertown she was the daughter of the late William and Leah (Neamand) Steeley.
She was employed in the bookkeeping department of the former Bucks County Bank & Trust Co. for 15 years before retiring in 1988. Previously, she worked as a bookkeeper for the former North Penn Store of Quakertown.
Mrs. Scheetz graduated second in her class in 1940 from Quakertown High School. She was active member of the Passer Community Assoc. and the Springfield Historical Society of Springfield Township for many years.
She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Richlandtown.
She is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Fisher of Quakertown and Rosemary Miller of Manassas, Va.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held Wed. Apr. 16 at 2 p.m. in St. John’s United Church of Christ, Richlandtown. Interment will be in Quakertown Union cemetery. Calling hours will be at the church Wed. from 1 to 2 p.m.

Bernard E. Showers
Bernard E. Showers, 76, of Coopersburg died Apr. 12, 2003.
He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Cressman) Showers. They were married
for 40 years last Nov.
Born in Bethlehem he was the son of the late George and Carrie (Schnell) Showers.
Mr. Showers was a carrier for the United States Postal Service, Bethlehem for 35 years until retiring in 1982.
He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War.
He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Coopersburg.
He was a life member of the 540 Democratic Club, Bethlehem.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one brother, George of So. Passadena, Fla.; one sister Esther Flager of New Rochelle, N.Y.
Services will be held Wed. Apr. 16, at 1:00 p.m. at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. 326 Main St., Hellertown, Pa. Interment will be in Union cemetery, Hellertown.

Elizabeth J. Petritsch
Elizabeth J. Petritsch, 77, of Kintnersville died Apr. 12, 2003 at the VNA Hospice at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill.
She was the wife of Gerald J. Petritsch. They were married
for 57 years in January.
Born in Mahanoy City, Pa. she was the daughter of the late George and Florence (Joseph) Youch.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one daughter, Geraldine M. Petrei of Quakertown; two granddaughters and one great-grandson.
Services will be private.

Theodore H. Rieger
Theodore H. Rieger, 85, of Bethlehem died Aug 2, 2003 in the VNA Hospice at St. Luke’s Fountain Hill.
He was the husband of Flora K. (Kunsman) Rieger. The couple celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary last Sept. 4th.
Born in Hellertown he was the son of the late Fred and Florence (Daubert) Rieger.
Prior to retiring in 1980, he was a employed by Bethlehem Steel Corp., Saucon Plant for 40 years.
He was a member of New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lower Saucon Township.
He was also a member of Spring Valley Sportsmen’s Club and the United Steel Workers of America.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Timothy and Jeffrey, both at home; three daughters, Jane M. at home, Janet E. Rieger of Hellertown, and Joan F. Johnson of Riegelsville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 7.

Melvin E. Fluck
Melvin E. Fluck, 92, of Quakertown, died Aug. 2, 2003 in his home.
He was the husband of the late Marian K. (Benner) Fluck.
Born in Bethlehem he was the son of the late Franklin and Amy (Achey) Fluck.
He was employed by a subsidiary of Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 30 years before retiring in 1973.
He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Springfield Twp.
He was also a life member and past president of Springtown Vol. Fire Co. He was a volunteer for the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. During his high school years he played football for Liberty High School and was a track star.
He is survived by a daughter, Carol A. Gressler at home and one granddaughter.
A memorial service was held Aug. 8.

Margaret M. Mayrose
Margaret M. Mayrose, 77, of Hellertown, formerly of Chicago, Ill. died Aug. 1, 2003 at her residence.
She was the wife of Leo Mayrose. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on April 27.
Born in Chicago, Ill she was the daughter of the late Florence and Mary Ellen (Kerrigan) Sullivan.
She was a member of the Church of St. Theresa of The Child Jesus, Hellertown, PA.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one son, Thomas, of Hometown, Ill; two daughters, Joan T. Mayrose of Hellertown and Nancy M Mayrose of San Mateo, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 6.

Edward H. Karte
Edward H. Karte, 94, of Allentown died Aug. 2, 2003 in the Cedarbrook, Fountain Hill Annex, Fountain Hill.
He was the husband of Elizabeth A. (Kurtz) Karte. The couple celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on January 1, 2003.
Born in Bethlehem he was the son of the late Robert and Bertha (Schreiber) Karte.
Prior to his retirement in 1971 he was employed by Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 37 years.
He was a life member of the Hellertown Sportsmen’s Association.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, David R. of Hellertown and Wallace E. of Zionsville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were private.

Josephine Anna Skraban
Josephine Anna Skraban, 83, of Hellertown died Aug. 4, 2003 at her home.
Born in Bethlehem she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Meri (Celeez) Skraban.
She was an assembly worker for the former Western Electric, in Allentown for 25 years, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Hellertown.
She is survived by one brother, Joseph of Bethlehem; one sister, Margaret Skraban, with whom she resided; and nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Stephen and John.
Services were held Aug. 7.
