Edgar C. Lutz, 78
Memorial services were held in Christ (Little Tulpehocken) Church, Jefferson Township, for Edgar C. Lutz, a resident of the Lutheran Home at Topton since February 2002, who died July 11, 2004 in the residence of a daughter, Nancy E. (Lutz) Hopkins, Hereford Township. Private burial was in the church cemetery.
He was the husband of Lorene E. (Schaeffer) Lutz, Kutztown.
Born in Jefferson Township, he was a son of the late Lammas N. and Mabel (Hartman) Lutz.
In 1952, he graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
From 1980 until his retirement in 1990, Lutz was employed as an electrical engineer by Allied Chemical Co., Teterboro, N.J. He was employed in the same field by Radio Corporation of America, Camden, N.J., from 1955 to 1972.
He was a Navy veteran.
Surviving are two other daughters, Cynthia A. (Lutz) Kellogg, Oyster Bay, N.J., and Deborah L. (Lutz) Silverstein, Baltimore; and two sons, Arlan E., Hollywood, Fla., and Mark A., Center Valley, Lehigh County.
There are nine grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Jennie M. Lutz, Wernersville.
Ludwick Funeral Homes Inc., Topton, was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy M. Schappell, 79
Services were held in the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Homes, Hamburg, for Dorothy M. Schappell, formerly of Perry Township, who died July 11, 2004 in Laurel Center Genesis Elder Care, Tilden Township, where she was a resident since May 7. Burial was in Zion’s cemetery, Perry Township.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lester S. Schappell, on Feb. 24, 2001.
Born in Perry Township, she was a daughter of the late James M. and Eva L. (Balthaser) Yeager.
Until her retirement in 1989, she was employed as a machine operator by Dawson’s Knitting Mill, Leesport, for 38 years.
Schappell was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Perry Township.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth L., Perry Township, and David C., Bowers.
There are three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Also surviving are a brother, Curtis Yeager, Windsor Township; and four sisters: Grace Yeager and Barbara (Yeager) Mengel, both of Leesport; Mary Jane (Yeager) Scheidt, Middletown, Md.; and Arlene (Yeager) Burns, Trenton, N.J.

David C. Rickard, 26
Services were held in Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Cressona, Schuylkill County, for David C. Rickard of Pottsville, who died July 9, 2004 in New Castle Township, Schuylkill County. Burial was in Schuylkill Memorial Park, North Manheim Township, Schuylkill County.
Rickard was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-car accident along Mount Laffee Road.
The Schuylkill County coroner’s office is investigating the cause of death.
Born in Pottsville, he was a son of Harry C. Rickard and Linda L. (Beury) Rickard, both of Pottsville.
He was employed by Jetson Direct Mail Services Inc., Tilden Township, as a machine operator.
Rickard, who resided with Kimberly Brobst, is survived by a son, David C. Jr., and a daughter, Aubreyanna M. Rickard, both of Pottsville.
Also surviving is a sister, Lisa M. Rickard, Coatesville, Chester County, and his paternal grandparents, George and Bernadette (O’Neil) Rickard, Gordon, Schuylkill County.

Irene M. Reidenhour, 86
Services were held in Leibensperger Funeral Homes Inc., Hamburg, for Irene M. Reidenhour, formerly of Windsor Township, who died July 9, 2004 in Pottsville Hospital, where she was a patient for one day. She was taken there from Laurel Center Genesis Elder Care, Tilden Township, where she resided three years. Burial was in Becker’s (St. Peter’s) cemetery, Richmond Township.
She was predeceased by her husband, Morris W. Reidenhour, on Aug. 23, 1995.
Born in Greenwich Township, she was a daughter of the late Byron J. and Maggie S. (Christman) Rahn.
She was a member of Salem Evangelical Congregational Church, Windsor Township.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann (Moyer) Seidel, Shoemakersville, and Susan F. (Moyer) Schultz, Schuylkill Haven; and three sons: Robert S. Moyer, Canton, N.Y.; John W. Moyer, Bethlehem; and William A. Moyer, Hamburg.
There are 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Willis L. Rahn, Acworth, Ga., and a sister, Arline E. (Rahn) Moyer, Maidencreek Township.

Thomas P. Freymoyer, 60
Memorial services were held in Bausman Memorial United Church of Christ, Wyomissing, for Thomas P. Freymoyer of Wyomissing, who died July 9, 2004 in Hamburg. Private burial was in St. Luke’s cemetery, Shoemakersville.
The cause of death was ruled a suicide by Dr. Nicholas Bybel, Berks County coroner. Freymoyer hung himself on a property at 3006 Mountain Road, Upper Bern Township.
He was born in West Reading.
Freymoyer was a 1961 graduate of Reading High School.
He was vice president of O.B. Dyers, Reading, for 32 years and was president of Mountain Road Textiles, Shoemakersville, since 1999.
Surviving are a son, Jeremy P., San Francisco, and a daughter, Mary R. Freymoyer, Wyomissing.
Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, was in charge of arrangements.

Delmer W. Rollman, 64
Services were held in Leibensperger Funeral Homes Inc., Hamburg, for Delmer W. “Tony” Rollman of Reading, who died of natural causes July 13, 2004 in Reading Hospital, shortly after admission. Burial was in St. John’s cemetery, Hamburg.
He was the husband of Rita J. (Bosefskie) Rollman.
Born in Hamburg, he was a son of the late Irvin P. Rollman and Mada A. (Kline) Rollman Rissmiller.
Last working in 1991, he was employed as a bus driver by the Grey Line, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Previously, he was employed as a police officer in New Philadelphia and Mahanoy City, both of Schuylkill County.
Rollman was an Army veteran.
Surviving is a son, Jason C., Fort Lauderdale, and one grandson.
Also surviving are a brother, Irvin, Temple, and a sister, Catherine (Rollman) Lambert, Temple.

Floyd S. Graeff, 95
Memorial services will be held July 23 at 11 a.m. in Immanuel United Church of Christ, Shillington, for Floyd S. Graeff of Wernersville, formerly of Shillington, who died July 8, 2004 in Phoebe Berks Health Care Center Inc., Wernersville, where he was a patient since May 14. Private burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Shillington.
He was the husband of Marie E. (Lutz) Graeff.
Born in Jefferson Township, he was a son of the late James H. and Miranda B. (Heister) Graeff.
Graeff graduated from Bethel High School in 1926.
Until his retirement in 1969, he was employed as an insurance agent by Prudential Insurance Co. for 30 years. Later, he was employed part-time for Croll & Keck, Berkshire Mall.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran.
Graeff was a life member of the Keystone Fire Company No. 1, Shillington, and the Sinking Spring Fire Company.
He volunteered for the Reading Soup Kitchen and Reading Emergency Shelter.
Graeff was a member of Immanuel UCC, where he was in the choir.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy M. (Graeff) Sechrist, Mohnton; and two sons, James H., Hummelstown, Dauphin County, and Stanton F., Wyomissing.
There are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a brother, Alton W., Buffington, S.C.
The Klee Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Shillington, was in charge of arrangements.

Antoinette L. Hess, 51
A private burial was held in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township, for Antoinette L. Hess of Leesport, formerly of Reading, who died of natural causes July 15, 2004 in Reading Hospital, where she was a patient one week.
She was the wife of Frederick W. Hess.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Janet K. Lavigna.
She was employed as a dental assistant by Dr. William R. Ueberoth, Birdsboro, for eight years and also operated her own dental temporary service.
Surviving are a daughter, Tara J. Hess, Leesport; and two stepdaughters, Robin L. Hess and Sharon L. (Hess) Steinle, both of Reading.
There is one grandson.
John P. Feeney Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Josephine W. Monde, 86
Retired school teacher
Services were held in Trinity Lutheran Church, Wernersville, for Josephine W. Monde, formerly of Wernersville, who died July 9, 2004 in Reading Hospital, where she was a patient five days. She was taken there from Phoebe Berks Health Care Center Inc., Wernersville, where she was a resident eight years. Burial was in Schwarzwald cemetery, Jacksonwald.
She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony D. Monde, in 1983.
Born in South Heidelberg Township, she was a daughter of the late Edward S. and Ellen S. (Kissling) Wenrich.
She was a 1933 graduate of Wernersville High School and a 1936 graduate of Kutztown State Teachers College. In 1960, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Kutztown and her master’s degree from Kutztown in 1965.
Until her retirement, she was employed as an elementary school teacher for Antietam School District. Previously, Monde taught school in Wernersville Elementary School and taught third grade in Bernville Elementary School.
She was a former program chairwoman of the Heidelberg Heritage Society, Wernersville.
Monde was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two sisters, June M. (Wenrich) Porter, a resident at the Evangelical Congregational Church Retirement Village, Albright Campus, Myerstown, and Anne K. (Wenrich) Snyder, Wernersville.
Lamm & Witman Funeral Home Inc., Wernersville, was in charge of arrangements.
