MARY BRAUGHLER DARR
Mary Braughler Darr, 89, of Johnstown, formerly of Ligonier, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Arbutus Manor, Johnstown. She was born May 24, 1910, in Seward, a daughter of the late Everett H. and Anne Johns Braughler. Mary worked for many years for the former Grimms Drug Store and the Nearly New Shop in Ligonier. She liked to walk, bake and play cards with her friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Darr, in 1963; a brother, Richard Braughler; and sisters , Ida Mae Thomas, Tirzah Knepp, and Anna Braughler. Survived by a son, Charles L. and his wife, Arleen Darr, of Ligonier; and grandchildren, Emily Horner, Sarah and Seth Darr. Friends will be received at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL HOME INC., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald F. Cook officiating. Calvin P. Demme, 73, of White hall, on Sunday, March 12, 2000. Dearly beloved husband of Kathleen Garman; extraordinary dad of Steve (Sandi) and Jeff (Kathy), all from Lancaster, and the late Brian. Awesome grandfather of Isaac, Ethan, Joseph, John, and Fritha. Brother-in-law of Robert Garman and Gloria Musin. Will also be missed by nieces and nephews. Friends received at the JOHN F. GUIDO R. HENRY
Guido R. Henry, 96, of Connellsville, died late Sunday, March 12, 2000, at his home. He was born Nov. 27, 1903, in Chicago, Ill., a son of the late Dr. Eugene H. and Berthe Rombauer Henry. He was a graduate of Kirksville High School in Kirksville, Mo., and was also a graduate of Cornell University, where he received a bachelor's of science degree in industrial chemistry. He was a longtime resident of Connellsville and in 1946 he founded the Bradley Paint Co. in Connellsville. He was president of the company until his retirement in 1968. He attended the United Presbyterian Church in Connellsville. He was also a member of the Connellsville Kiwanis Club, the B.P.O. Elks #503 in Connellsville, and the Pleasant Valley Country Club. He is survived by a son, Guido R. Henry Jr. and his wife, Aileen Anthony Henry, of Manchester, Vt.; a daughter, Patricia Henry Neff and her husband, Richard, of South Point, N.C.; his grandchildren, Tyson R. Henry and his wife, Lauri, Christine Hoffman and her husband, James, Richard Neff and his wife, Judy, Dr. Deena Neff, and Stephen Henry and his wife, Karen; his great-grandchildren, Alice Chandler Hoffman, Morgan Jean Henry, and Lindsey Louise Henry, Jackson Neff, and Henry Wynn Neff; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Naomi Fry Henry, in 1997; and a brother, Eugene H. Henry Jr. Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Margaret "Peg" (Miller) Jellison, 72, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, March 13, 2000, at Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 10, 1927, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late James D. and Anna (Butler) Miller. She was a retired shipping clerk at Westinghouse, Trafford (printing division). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel W. Jellison; and two sisters , Virginia R. Carey and Gladys M. Yankora. Survived by a daughter, Karen A. Prue of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, David T. Miller of Pittsburgh; a sister, Katherine Vonahnen of Philadelphia; several nieces and nephews; and many loving and caring friends. CLYDE R. KERR
Clyde R. "Dick" Kerr, 74, of North Versailles, peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2000, at his home. Born March 21, 1925, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Max M. and Harriet (Baker) Kerr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Filia) Kerr; and a sister, Maxine (Kerr) Boden. Beloved Father of Anthony Pesante and wife, Linda, of Fox Chapel, James Pesante of North Versailles, Nancy Miller and husband, John, of North Versailles, and Michael Kerr and wife, Rosanne, of Houston, Texas . Also survived by three sisters , Harriet May Whitaker and husband, Jack, of Florida, twin sister, Bette Johns and husband, Bill, of Connecticut, and Gerry Ferguson and husband, Norval, of Verona. Grandfather of Nicholas J. Pesante of Pittsburgh and Leanne Elizabeth Kerr of Houston. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Clyde was a veteran of World War II, having served overseas; was a salesman for more than 20 years with Kenny Ross Chevrolet in Irwin; a member of the Wilkinsburg Elks B.P.O.E. #577; and was an avid golfer. WILLIAM E. RESHENBERG SR.
William E. "Bill" Reshenberg Sr., 86, of Dunbar, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Uniontown Hospital. He was born Feb. 27, 1914, in Mt. Braddock (Piper Hollow), a son of the late Arthur and Christina Swearingen Reshenberg. He was a retired railroad conductor of the B&O Railroad, currently CSX. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving aboard the USS Bennett in the Pacific Theater and was involved in three major battles: the Battles of Pelilu, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was a member of the Dunbar Historical Society, American Legion Post 301 of Connellsville, served on the CCC Camp for 10 months during 1933 to 1934, served with the WPA for 18 months, and the CMTC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Miller Reshenberg, in 1938; his second wife, Shirley Brooks Reshenberg, in 1995; a sister, Gertrude Little; a brother, Harold Reshenberg; a grandchild, baby boy Russell; a great-grandchild, Perry Russell III; and grandparents, Emil and Valerie Reshenberg, who raised Bill from the age of 6 years. Survived by sons , Edward C. Reshenberg Martin and wife, Dolores, of Vanderbilt, William E. Reshenberg Jr. and wife, Karen, of Dunbar, Thomas E. Reshenberg and wife, Lorraine, of Scottdale, Harry A. Reshenberg and friend, Chris, of Dunbar; a daughter, Janet Reshenberg Russell and husband, Perry, of Dunbar; a sister, Sara Margaret Nicklow of Mt. Braddock; grandchildren, Edward Martin Jr., Terri Martin, and Rachel, Joy, Harry Jr., Michael, and April Reshenberg; and nieces and nephews. Leroy A. Schultz
Leroy A. Schultz, 78, of Slickville, died Monday, March 13, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Feb. 12, 1922, in East Wheatfield Township, Indiana County, a son of the late Leroy and Anna L. Forney Schultz. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a carpenter. He was a member of the Slickville American Legion, and a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army during four major campaigns in the European theater of operations. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Arlene B. Pratt Schultz; two daughters and three sons : Leanna J. Curtis and Edward J. Schultz, both of Slickville, David A. Schultz and his wife, Susan, of Saltsburg, Linda M. McComb of Mansfield, and Donald A. Schultz and his friend, Carol, of Saltsburg; two stepsons: Gary A. Pratt and his wife, Mary, of Slickville, and Glenn A. Pratt and his wife, Alice, of Saltsburg; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Mr. Schultz's family will receive friends at the JOHN L. Mary Grinarml Soltis, 83, of Level Green, died Monday, March 13, 2000, at her home. She was born July 7, 1916, in Reduction, Pa., a daughter of the late Anton and Mary Yakubcio Grinarml. She was a member of St. Regis Church, Trafford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Soltis, in 1994. She is survived by a son, William Soltis of Turtle Creek; three daughters , Dorothy Lakly of Monroeville, Linda Diemert of North Huntingdon, and Louise Carter of Harrison City; a sister, Helen Tomasy; and a brother, Anthony Grinarml, both of West Newton. Frank H. Stratton Sr., 69, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, March 13, 2000, in the Forbes Regional Health Center, Monroeville. He was born Feb. 1, 1931, in Irwin, a son of the late David and Janet Michie Stratton. He was a retired employee of BP Motor Express, North Huntingdon, and owned and operated Stratton's Saddle Shop of North Huntingdon. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Irwin; a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the U.S. Air Force, and a member of VFW Post 781 of Irwin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Stratton. He is survived by his wife, Alberta E. Common Stratton; two sons , Frank H. Stratton Jr. of Irwin, and Thomas A. Stratton of North Huntingdon; two grandchildren; and a sister, Sara Jane Shriver of Virginia. Lucy M. Altman, 89, of New Stanton RD1 (Middletown), died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Sept. 1, 1910, in Hempfield Township, a daughter of the late Isaac and Lavina Henry Fox. She was a member of the Middletown United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Fox; and four sisters , Catherine Trenney, Ellen Fox, Olive Baum and Florence Steiner. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Walter L. Altman Sr.; a son, Walter L. Altman Jr. and his wife, Rose M., of Greensburg; two daughters , Naomi Coughenour and her husband, Donald, of Belle Vernon, and Patricia Allshouse and her husband, Thomas, of New Stanton; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ira Fox of Dauphin, Philadelphia; and four sisters , Clara Etta Mensch of South Greensburg, Ruth Woodward of New Stanton, Hilda Riddle of Hemet, Calif., and Emma Baird of Greensburg. She was born May 17, 1936, in Marguerite, Pa., a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Fallat Davis. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Jeannette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dave Cecchetti; and a brother, Ralph Davis. Rudolph S. Kerecz, 77, of Plum, died Sunday, March 12, 2000. He was the husband of the late Clara M. (Reihms) Kerecz. He was the beloved Father of Mary Ann Racki; dear grandfather of Krystin Michelle Racki; brother of Carl and White y Kerecz. He was a retired employee of Fruehauf Truck and an Army veteran, having served in World War II. Phyllis M. (Bellich) Kovalcik, 61, of Delmont, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, in IHS, Greensburg. She was born June 26, 1938, in Export, a daughter of the late Miller and Mollie (Altman) Bellich. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Edward C. Kovalcik; three daughters , Rebecca Urchek and husband, Peter, of Blairsville, Victoria "Vicky" Smith and husband, Cary, of North Huntingdon, and Pamela Zimmerman and husband, Nathan, of Apollo; a son, Edward Kovalcik Jr. and wife, Donna, of Greensburg; a sister, Mary Reagan and husband, Grant Jr., of Hunker; and four grandchildren, Charlie and Anastasia Urchek, Christopher Kovalcik and Josh Zimmerman. In addition, she is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Phyllis was a member of the St. John Baptist de la Salle Church of Delmont. The family received friends at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC.
