Anita (Sassano) Garvey, 77, of Kennedy Township, died on Friday, July 13 [2001]. She was born in Stowe Township on March 1, 1924. She was a member of St. Malachy Church. Her husband, Lawrence (Sonny) Garvey, preceded her in death. Surviving are her daughter, Marlane, and her husband, Kenneth SOBECK of Scott Township, and her granddaughter, Melanie Sobeck. Friends were received in Anthony J. Sanvito Funeral Home in Stowe Township. Funeral services were held in St. Malachy Church. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery

Age 80, very peacefully on November 14, 2001, of McKees Rocks. Beloved wife of John J. Gethen; stepmother of John L. and his wife Karen, and James E. Jean K. Gmitter, age 95, of LaBelle, FL, passed away November 29, 2004 in LaBelle. She was born July 15, 1909 in Poland. She has resided in LaBelle since 2001 and was a longtime resident of McKees Rocks, PA where she was a longtime member of St. Marks Church. Survivors include her sons: Ronald Gmitter of LaBelle, FL and Robert Gmitter of Pittsford, NY; sister, Jean Samko of Burbank, CA; 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and niece, Lorry Flowers of Greensburg, PA. Last rites were given on Friday, Dec. 3, 2004 at AKIN-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, LaBelle, FL with Father Chester Domaszewicz officiating.
GLORIA J. GREENAWALD
Gloria J. Greenawald, 60, of Eldersville, Jefferson Township, and formerly of Robinson Township, died Wednesday morning, January 16, 2008, in her home, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. She was born April 8, 1947, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Harry Leroy Sr. and Ida Mae Martin JACKSON. A graduate of McKees Rocks High School, she retired in 1982 from Red Roof Inn, Robinson Township, where she worked at the front desk. A Presbyterian, she enjoyed gardening and sewing. Dale E. Greenawald Sr., who survives.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Dale E. Greenawald Jr. and wife Jennifer of Frankfort Springs and Scott T. Greenawald Sr. of Eldersville; three grandchildren, Katelynn and Kristen Greenawald and Scott T. Greenawald Jr.; and a brother, Harry Leroy Jackson Jr. and wife Ursula of Tennessee. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the hour of service, Friday, January 18, in Lee and Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, with the Rev. RALPH W. GUSTAFSON
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in McDermott Brothers Funeral Home, 1225 Chartiers avenue, McKees Rocks for Private Ralph W. Gustafson who was killed in action in France in October, 1944. Burial will be in Union Dale cemetery. Private Gustafson attended Stowe Township High School and entered the army in November, 1943. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Gustafson, he also is survived by three brothers, Carl, Clarence and Ernest Gustafson and five sisters, Mrs. Edith JOHNSON, Mrs. Mabel VITTUCIO, Mrs. Ruth MILLER, Mrs. Pearl BRUECKMAN and Mrs. Hazel JENKINS.
ROBERT BRUCE GUTHRIE
The many friends of Robert B. Guthrie in this city will regret his demise, which occurred at his residence at McKee's Rocks on Thursday. Mr. Guthrie is well known as an old citizen of Pittsburg, having been born on Fifth Avenue in 1822, where he resided for some thirty-five years. When the Mexican War broke out he enlisted in the Duquesne Grays, and served for some time as orderly sergeant. however falling sick at Vera Cruz, he was compelled to relinquish service, and receiving his discharge, returned home. During the Civil War he served as captain of one of the United States supply-boats running between Cincinnati and Memphis. About fifteen years ago he retire to his farm, consisting of about two hundred acres at McKee's, where he has resided ever since. His wife has been dead for the past seven years, but he leaves a family of six children, with whom a large circle of friends join in mourning his loss. From a Pittsburg paper, October 3rd, 1874.

ALEX PROCYK
Age 72, a Green Tree resident for over 40 yrs, passed away in a Pittsburgh area hospital on Nov. 26, 2006 of congestive heart failure. He was married
to his wife Sylvia for 49 yrs and is a retired Vice President and Manager of Davy International Engineering and Construction Division. He was a graduate of McKees Rocks High School and the University of Pittsburgh. Upon receiving his Bachelors and Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a 4 yr stint in the U.S. Army, Alex was hired as a design engineer for the Dravo Corp. Engineering Works Division. During his time of employment he was also a Mechanical Lead Engineer, Chief Mechanical Engineer and V.P. and Manager of Design Engineering dept. At his retirement he was Manager of Value Engineering at Davy Intl Engineer and Construction Division, formerly Dravo Corp Engineering Works Division. While he was employed there he was an active member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Iron and Steel Engineers, Iron and Steel Society and Society of American Value Engineers (S.A.V.E.) He was also honored with Outstanding Engineer for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Pittsburgh section- May 1982. Outside work he kept busy with numerous activities. He was band president for Keystone Oaks Marching Band, Corp. Director of Steel City Senior Drum and Bugle Corp., and a member of the Green Tree Council. In the little free time he had, he enjoyed watching his grandson play soccer, reading, model trains, relaxing at Myrtle Beach, attending Steeler and Pitt football games and watching Jr. and Sr. Drum Corp events. Alex is survived by his wife Sylvia and a daughter Patrice RUHE of Lufkin, TX and her husband John and 2 grandchildren, Gregory and Matthew Ruhe. CHARLES B. DAVIS
Charles B. Davis, a retired teacher from TUSD, born March 4, 1924 in McKees Rocks, PA., passed away on September 15, 2008. He was a 1949 graduate of Penn State University where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. In 1943 he volunteered for the U.S. Army and served overseas in the E.T.O. in an Engineer Combat Construction Battalion and was honorably discharged in 1946 as a 2nd Lieutenant. He received his Masters' Degree in Education at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. Married while at Penn State in June 1948 to Betty FOGLE, the family moved in 1949 to Pittsburgh, PA. In the 1950s, he was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge and continued on through the Consistory to become a 32nd degree Mason. In June 1959 the family moved to Tucson. He taught in TUSD for 25 years; 20 of those years at Townsend Middle School. He retired from TUSD in 1983 and resided in Green Valley on two different occasions returning to Tucson in 2000. A 60th wedding anniversary was celebrated in June 2008. Besides his wife, Betty, survivors include daughter, Debby GOEBEL (Roger) and grandson, Chad Goebel - all of Tucson - son, Scott (Rachel) of Flagstaff, Arizona.
