Ethel M. Wike Lied, 87, formerly of 17 N. Reamstown Road, Reamstown, Lancaster County, died Friday afternoon at 1:40 PM of complications with Alzheimer’s Disease in ManorCare Health Services, 100 Abbeyville Road, Lancaster, where she resided the past 10 years. Born in Lititz, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Harry H. and Alice (Whitcraft) Wike. Her husband, D. Webster Lied, died July 28, 1996. A 1931 graduate of Lititz High School, Ethel worked many years as a bank teller in Lititz and Lancaster. She was also an administrative assistant for Mel Horst, Witmer, Lancaster County, in his various business enterprises. She and her husband owned and operated Lied’s Gun Shop, Reamstown, from 1951 until moving to the nursing home. They also had continued a family business founded by her father, Wike’s Cough Drops, formerly of Lititz. Mrs. Lied was a former president of the Ephrata Community Hospital Auxillary, and was instrumental in creating the June Fete, an annual fund raiser that continues to this day. She was also a former president of the Home & School Association of the Ephrata School District. Ethel enjoyed reading, gardening and working in her yard. Surviving are 2 daughters, Sally A. Lied, Harrisburg; and Julie Lied Morrow, Reamstown. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Laura Delp & Ruth Garner, and 3 brothers, Lester, Monroe and Granville Wike.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday at 7:30 PM from Good Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Inc. of Reamstown. There will be no viewing, however, the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private inurnment in Pleasant View cemetery, Spring Township, Berks County, PA.

Helen E. Leid
1908 - 2001
Born in Brecknock Township, Berks County, PA, Helen was a daughter of the late Jeremiah H. and Lizzie A. (Kachel) Hoshauer. Her husband, Alfred H. Leid, died May 3, 1984. She was a member of Allegheny Evangelical Lutheran Church, Knauers, where she had been a member of the choir. Helen is survived by her devoted son, Charles A. Leid, Alleghenyville. She resided in Alleghenyville up until the last five years when receiving care at Denver Nursing Home. Helen received her reward on Saturday, April 28, 2001, at 6:45 AM.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at 11:00 AM from our parlor with The Reverend George P. Zacharda officiating.
Burial will follow in Muddy Creek cemetery, Swartzville.

Harry & Anetta Lefever
Harry H. Lefever, Jr., 76, and Anetta J. Wingenroth Lefever, 79, of 6 Faust Lane, Reamstown, Lancaster County, died as the result of an automobile accident on Friday at 2:58 PM on Route 772 in Salisbury Township, Lancaster County, near Gap, PA. Mr. Lefever was pronounced dead at the scene by Lancaster County Coroner, Barry Walp, D.O. and Mrs. Lefever was flown by helicopter to Brandywine Hospital and Trauma Center, Caln Township, Chester County, where she died later in the day. Harry was born in Conestoga, Lancaster County, a son of the late Harry H. Lefever, Sr. and Edna (Sigman) Lefever. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Reamstown, where he had served as an elder and deacon. He was an army veteran of World War II and was a life member of Post #3376 VFW, Ephrata. Harry was the parts manager for over 30 years at the former International Harvestor Company, Ephrata, later know as Heritage International. He was an avid bowler having been a member of the Ephrata VFW Bowling League at Dutch Lanes, Ephrata, and had bowled a perfect game with the Rocky Springs Bowling League of Lancaster. In earlier years he was know as “Lefty” for being the fastest left-handed pitcher in the former Reamstown Church Softball League where he had pitched a perfect game; no hit/no run. Lefever was a member of Ephrata Lodge #665 Free and Accepted Masons and the Lancaster Lodge of Perfection. In later years he enjoyed ping pong and woodworking, especially known for his decoratively painted pieces. Anetta was born in Reamstown, Lancaster County, a daughter of the late Isaac B. And Gertie M. (Frecht) Wingenroth. She was a member and former primary department Sunday school teacher at Salem United Church of Christ, Reamstown. A 1940 graduate of East Cocalico High School, she enjoyed bowling, being a “Cashew” in the Nut League of the Friday Night Dutch Bowl Teams, Ephrata. She also enjoyed playing Pinochle and other card games and dominos. She retired in 1990, after many years as a floor lade with Shirlee Manufacturing, Terre Hill, and the former C&B Trimming, Reamstown. They are survived by a daughter, Linda L., married
to Samuel E. Weaver, Jr., Reamstown; 2 grandchildren;and a great-granddaughter. Harry is also survived by a sister, Louise, married
to Eugene Hufford, and a brother, John, married
to Ruth Lefever, both of Brownstown, Lancaster County. Anetta is also survived by a brother, Clyde Wingenroth, Ephrata; and 3 sisters, Mildred I. Wingenroth, Reamstown; Alma G., married
to Clarence M. Summers, Lititz; and Patsy, married
to Nevin R. McQuate, Denver, PA.
Anetta and Harry's viewing will be held at our funeral home on Tuesday, November 6, 2001, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The funeral ceremony will be conducted from our parlor on Wednesday morning, November 7, 2001, at 10:00 AM with The Reverend Stephen E. Hollinger and The Reverend Gene Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, East Cocalico Township, PA.

Ella M. Keiffer

Ella M. Keiffer, age 87, formerly of Stevens, died early Thursday morning in the Denver Nursing Home where she resided since October 4th. She had last resided at Colonial Lodge, Denver. Born in Ephrata, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph W. and Ella K. (Econroad) Cammauf. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Ephrata, and was a former member of Carpenter’s Community Church, Talmage, Lancaster County, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and Bible study leader. Retiring in 1960, she was employed for many years at the former A. N. Wolf Shoe Company, Denver; former Hesteco Manufacturing, Ephrata; and last for the former Ba-Ru-Be Co., Ephrata. Ella is survived by a daughter, Romaine, wife of Ronald E. Lorah, Melbourne Beach, Florida; a son, Joseph L., husband of Lucy H. (Hiester) Becker, Stevens; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Melo Cammauf, Denver Nursing Home, Stevens; and Floyd married
to Jane Cammauf, Ephrata. A brother, Garson Cammauf, preceded her in death.
Ella's funeral ceremony will be held Monday morning, October 15, 2001, from our parlors with Pastor Keith Sweitzer and Pastor Glenn Hoover officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services with interment following the service in Caernarvon cemetery, Morgantown, PA.

Alice M. Huyard, age 75, formerly of Reamstown, Lancaster County, died Friday at 1 PM in Conestoga View, 900 East King Street, Lancaster, where she resided since December. Born in Birdsboro, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late John and Kathryn (Wentzel) Fromm. She had attended the East Cocalico Church of the Brethren, Reamstown. Surviving are her husband, Jacob L. Huyard, a resident of Denver Nursing Home, Stevens; and a daughter, Kathryn Ann Huyard, Stevens.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday afternoon, October 16, 2001, at 2:00 PM in Muddy Creek cemetery, East Cocalico Township, PA. There will be no public viewing.
Woodrow R. Horst
Jan. 28, 1927 - June 20, 2001
Woodrow R. “Woody” Horst, age 74, of 306 Rolling Terrace, Leola, Lancaster County, formerly of Brownstown, died in his home under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County on Wednesday morning at 6:45 AM following a lengthy illness. Born in Brownstown, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Martin and Margie (Royer) Horst. He and his wife, Mary Helen (Becker) Horst, celebrated 51 years of marriage on October 8, 2000. He was a member and former Sunday School Superintendent of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Brownstown. Woody retired in 1995 from E&G Concrete, Inc., Stevens. He was previously employed by the former L. S. Weidman & Sons Construction Company, Brownstown, and by the late Allen Buch, Brownstown, in farming and septic system work. He was also a member of the Buckskins Hunting Club, Centre County, and enjoyed hunting, cooking, and vegetable gardening. Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Chris E. Horst, Schaefferstown, Lebanon County; a son, Ronald K., married
to Joyce (Beck) Horst, Hopeland, Lancaster County; and a sister, Betty E. Horst, Brownstown. A brother, John Horst, was killed in World War II.
It was Woody's request that there not be a viewing, however, the family will receive friends from Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 11 North Church Street, Brownstown, on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. A graveside ceremony will be held in the adjoining Brownstown cemetery at 10:00 AM with Pastor Dennis E. Spangler and Pastor Bruce H. Willier officiating.

Walter L. Good
Jan. 27, 1908 - July 8, 2001
Walter L. Good, 93, formerly of 101 Franklin Street, Reading, Berks County, died Sunday afternoon in the Berks Heim Annex, Bern Township, Berks County, where he had resided for the past 7 years. Born in Reamstown, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late John S. and Minnie (Leisey) Good. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Army during World War II having served in England, Germany, France and Belgium. Good was employed in the 1930’s by the York Bar-bell Company, York, PA, doing promotional and educational weight lifting. He was a member of the 1936 United State Olympic Team as a Middle Weight Lifter. Walter and his two brothers, William L., Reamstown, and the late Harry L., were a well-known weight lifting performance team throughout the United States in the 1930’s and also performed for the Queen of England of that period. He was also employed many years ago at the Textile Machine, Wyomissing. He founded the former Reading Bar-bell Company, West Reading, in 1950 and continued in business until the 1980’s.
Surviving in addition to his brother, is a sister, Mary Lehman, a resident of Ephrata Manor, Ephrata, 2 nieces and a nephew.
The funeral ceremony will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2001, at 10:00 AM from our parlor with The Reverend Melvin H. Stehr officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will take place in Cedar Hill cemetery, Ephrata.

Dorothy Laverne Good, 60, of 555 North Peartown Road, Reinholds, died in her home Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Raymond H. Good. Born in Bowmansville, Laverne was a daughter of the late Frank Z. and Irene (Good) Hersh. She was a woodworker for Conestoga Wood Specialties, East Earl, last working in 1999. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Terre Hill. Surviving in addition to her husband is a son, Scott A. Kissinger, Reinholds; 2 daughters, Sara L., wife of John Miller, Ephrata, and Shelly A., wife of Fred Martin, Denver; 2 step-daughters, Marjorie, wife of William Orth, Reading; and Beverly, wife of William Evans, Wyomissing Hills; 7 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Frank Hersh, Terre Hill, and Richard Hersh, Denver; and 4 sisters, Arlene Loose, Martinsville, Virginia; Marian Fox, Martindale; Marie Hersh, Reinholds, and Teresa Amsbaugh, Reading. A brother, Gerald Hersh, preceded her in death.
Lavern's viewing will be held on Friday, November 23, 2001, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM from our funeral home and prior to the service at the church on Saturday. The funeral service will be held from Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 129 Pleasant Valley Road off of Route 625, East Earl, on Saturday, November 24, 2001, at 10:00 AM with Reverend Merle G. Stoltzfus officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Rosa Michelle Gonzalez

Rosa Michelle Gonzalez, age 25, of 200 N. Mill Street, Birdsboro, Berks County, died Saturday morning in the Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading, following an apparent drive by shooting on Front Street in Reading Friday evening. An autopsy was performed in Allentown on Sunday. Born in Coamo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of Luis R. Gonzalez, Coamo, Puerto Rico, and Rosa M. (Alvarade) Rea, Denver, PA. She had been a waitress and a volunteer teacher’s aide at a Birdsboro Christian school where her daughter, Samantha R. Steel, attended. Surviving in addition to her parents and daughter, is her companion with whom she resided, Richard J. Steel III; 2 sisters, Kathy Jo (Gonzalez) Mayers, Manon, Indiana; and Janitza (Gonzalez) Mace, Ephrata; a brother, Luis R. Gonzalez, Denver, PA; Step-father, George E. Rea, Denver, PA; maternal grandmother, Myra V. Luna, Coama, Puerto Rico; and paternal grandparents, Luis Antonio & Theda Gonzalez, Bowmansville, PA.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, August 8, 2001, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a ceremony at 8:00 PM. All from our parlors.

Minerva F. Gonzalez, 57, of 1550 Putnam Road, Lancaster, formerly of New Holland, died Saturday at 4:45 PM in her residence under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County. Born in Ephrata, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Mabel (Lausch) Ditzler. She was a 1962 graduate of Ephrata High School and enjoyed cooking. Minerva was employed for 27 years by Dart Container, Leola, having worked until her illness. She is survived by a daughter, Michelle L., married
