Harry M. Weinhold
"Honey"
1912-2001
Born in Reamstown on March 10, 1912, a son of the late Stephen B. and Katie (Withers) Weinhold, he was married
for 62 years to Sadie (Becker) Weinhold, who died April 18, 1999. "Honey", as many knew him, was a 1929 graduate of East Cocalico High School, Reamstown. He served in the Army during World War II. His regiment served in the European Theatre and remains active guarding the tomb of the unknown soldier. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Denver; Cloister Post #429 American Legion, Ephrata; Cocalico Post #3376 VFW, Ephrata; Ephrata Lodge #665 Free & Accepted Mason; Lancaster Lodge of Perfection; Reading Consistory; Rajah Temple Shrine, Reading; and The Friendly Circle of Lincoln Sr. Group. He retired after 18 years as clerk at the Ephrata Post Office and was previously employed for 28 years by the former Berkshire Knitting Mill, Wyomissing. He is survived by a sister, Kathryn W., widow of H. Evans Sloat, a resident of Fairmount Homes, Farmersville, and several nieces and nephews. Formerly of South 4th Street, Denver, he resided since May of 1993 at Brethren Village, Neffsville, where he died Wednesday morning at 3:15 AM.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2001, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in our parlor and on Monday, June 11, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the Chapel at Brethren Village with the ceremony beginning at 10:00 AM. Graveside services will follow from Fairview cemetery, Denver, PA.

Eugene B. Wanner

Eugene B. Wanner, 78, of 2106 Northmont Boulevard, Reading, Berks County, formerly of North Sixth Street, Denver, Lancaster County, died Thursday morning in Ephrata Community Hospital where he was a patient for the past 5 days. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Clayton S. and Florence W. (Becker) Wanner. His wife, Elizabeth J. (Woodworth) Wanner, died August 19, 1998. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Adamstown, where he had been a former member of church council, church sexton, choir member, Sunday school teacher and secretary of the Lutheran Church Men. Wanner was a staff sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II, having served in the European Theatre. He was a member of the Adamstown VFW. Eugene was employed many years ago by the former Cloister Dairy, Ephrata; former Pennsupreme Dairy, Ephrata; Wertz Garage, Adamstown; and last, retiring in 1987 from Hope Hosiery Mill, Adamstown. Following retirement, he was employed part-time by Weis Markets, Ephrata, for several years. Surviving is a step-mother, Eva (George) Wanner, a guest at Fairmount Homes, Farmersville, Lancaster County; a daughter, Bonnie J., wife of Paul R. Line III, Reading; 2 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Leon, married
to Nancy Wanner, and Bruce, married
to Mildred Wanner, both of Ephrata; and Larry, married
to Sandy Wanner, Adamstown; and a half-brother, Richard L. Mull, Ephrata. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Wanner.
The funeral ceremony will be held on Monday, October 1, 2001, at 10:00 AM from our parlor with The Reverend Sandra L. Gideon officiating. A viewing will be held on Sunday evening, September 30, 2001, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Burial will take place in Pleasant View cemetery, Sinking Spring, PA.

Dale B. Trick

Dale B. Trick, 64, of 10 Stoudtburg Road, Reinholds, Lancaster County, died in his residence Sunday morning at 2:40 AM under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County. Born in Sunbury, PA, he was a son of the late Augustus H. Trick, Sr. and Anna (Weisbrod) Trick. He was the husband of Charlotte Mae (Hoyt) Trick for 39 years on May 12, 2001. Retiring in 1999, he was employed for 36 years as a tool maker with Dana Corporation, at their former Reading location. Trick was an Air Force veteran (peace time) and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving in addition to his wife are 3 daughters, Sharon, married

Dale's viewing and funeral will be held from the East Cocalico Church of the Brethren, Bunker Hill Road, Reamstown, PA, on Wednesday, December 12, 2001. The viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at which time the service will begin.
The burial will take place at 2:00 PM in Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville, Lebanon County, PA.

Julia Texter, age 95, formerly of Vinemont, Berks County, died Thursday afternoon at 5:05 PM in Berks Heim, Bern Township, Berks County, where she resided for the past 5 years. Born in Nesquehoning, PA, she was a daughter of the late John and Annie Milander. Her husband, Harvey K. Texter, died April 27, 1991. She was a member of Vinemont Community Lutheran Church, Berks County, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and Pianist. Mrs. Texter was a grammar school teacher many years ago at the former Merkel’s School, Spring Township, Berks County. She was a graduate of West Chester State Normal School, now West Chester University. Surviving is a son, Richard D., married

Thaddeus W. "Ted" Sybil
February 27, 1919 - August 14, 2001
Thaddeus W. “Ted” Sybil, 82, of 118 Red Gate Lane, Reading, Massachusetts, died Tuesday in youville Hospital, Cambridge, MA. Born in Saugus, MA, he was the husband of Kathleen Woods Sybil, formerly of Adamstown, Lancaster County, PA. He was a graduate of Saugus High School and Burdett College and was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Reading, MA. Ted had been employed as a manager for the New England Telephone Company and was an army veteran of WWII. Surviving in addition to his wife are 3 sisters, Lucille J. Hayes & Francis C. Sybil, both of Medford, MA; and Gertrude F. Cox, Saugus, MA; and nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at The Cota Funeral Home, 335, Park Street, North Reading, Massachusetts, on Thursday, August 16, 2001, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and at The Good Funeral Home, Reamstown, PA, on Monday, August 20, 2001, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the Cota Funeral Home on Friday at 9:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be given at 10:00 AM from St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Reading, MA.
Final Commendation and farewell will take place from Cedar Grove cemetery, Adamstown, PA, following the viewing from our parlors on Monday morning.

Kevin E. Steely, 36, of 90 Cocalico Creek Road, Stevens, Lancaster County, was found dead unexpectedly in his residence December 25th. An autopsy was performed at Conestoga View, Lancaster, results are pending. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of Delores (Kohl) Steely Jaxel, Stevens, and the late Gerald E. Steely, Sr. He was employed by D & M Concrete, Stevens. Also surviving is his step-father, Charles W. Jaxel, Sr., Stevens; and a brother, Gerald E. Steely, Jr., Stevens.

William G. Schwarzmann, Sr., age 91, of 1373 Clearview Drive, Denver, Lancaster County, formerly of Abington and Frankford, died Thursday morning at 4:40 AM in the Ephrata Community Hospital where he was a patient for the past 8 days. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late George and Lillie (Fritchie) Schwarzmann. His wife, Dorothy H. (Harrer) Schwarzmann, died June 21, 1990. Retiring in 1968, he was employed for 41 years as a regional salesman for the Uniroyal Corporation, Philadelphia, and formerly employed by Masland Duraleather Company, Philadelphia. He was a life member of the Jerusalem Lodge #506 Free & Accepted Masons, Philadelphia, and the LuLu Temple Shrine, Plymouth Meeting. Surviving is a son, William G. Schwarzmann, Jr., with whom he resided; and a sister, Katherine Link, St. Petersburg, Florida.
The viewing is scheduled from 7:00 to 9:00 PM with the services at 8:00 PM on Sunday, August 12, 2001, from our parlors. A Masonic tribute and celebration of memories will be offered.
Graveside committal will be held on Monday, August 13, 2001, at 11:00 AM in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, Montgomery County, PA.

Jane L. Schaeffer, age 55, of 1125 Pfeiffer Hill Road, Stevens, Lancaster County, died Monday afternoon at 3:00 PM in the Ephrata Community Hospital, Ephrata, Lancaster County, where she was admitted on Sunday evening. Born in Ephrata, she was a daughter of the late C. William and Margaret Mae (Haws) Clark. She attended the Lancaster First Church of God. Mrs. Schaeffer was employed by Skip’s Cutting at their Denver Location as a sewing machine mechanic and inspector. Surviving is a son, C. Scott, husband of Sandra A. (Longsderff) Schaeffer, Ephrata; 2 grandsons; a sister, Ruth D., wife of Harvey E. Reich; and a brother, William L., husband of Patricia J. (Musser) Clark, both of Stevens.
The funeral ceremony will be held on Friday, July 27, 2001, at 10:00 AM from our parlor with Pastor Donald G. Price officiating. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Burial will take place in Salem Union cemetery, Reamstown.

Thomas M. Sanford
January 9, 1921 - November 16, 2001
Thomas M. Sanford, 80, of 16 Brian Court, Stevens, died at 11:30 AM on Friday in Ephrata Community Hospital where he was admitted earlier in the day. Born in Philadelphia he was a son of the late William and Elizabeth Sanford, and was the husband of Edna (Schroeder) Sanford for 53 years on November 6th. He was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor and had served as a Navy Veteran during World War II on the USS Detroit which earned six battle stars. Also served on the USS Iowa and the USS New York. He was a member of the American Legion and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Oganization, where he served the group as secretary, past president, vice president and treasurer. Sanford was a stationery steam engineer for the Philadelphia Electric Company for 32 years, retiring in 1979. Graduated in 1939 from North Catholic High School of Philadelphia. Surviving in addition to his wife are twin daughters, Linda M. Sanford, Philadelphia; and Carol A., wife of James Cesari, Drexel Hill; and 5 grandchildren.
Thomas' viewing will be held from our parlor on Tuesday, November 20, 2001, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM with the service beginning at 1:00 PM, The Reverend Jeffrey K. Lott officiating.

Ralph R. Ruth, 79, of 165 Parkview Heights Road, Ephrata, Lancaster County, died Thursday morning at 9:23 AM in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Lebanon, where he was stricken with a heart attack while arriving for a doctor’s visit. An autopsy was conducted at the facility showing death due to natural causes. Born in Manheim, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Paul I. and Ruth A. (Yeager) Ruth. He was the husband of Caroline R. (Root) Ruth for 50 years on March 1, 2001. Ruth retired in 1974 after 22 years as a masonry worker with the Reading Bricklayer’s Union Local #21. He was last employed as an inspector with Huth Engineers, Lancaster. He was a World War II veteran of the Marine Corps. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sons, R. Robert Ruth, at home; and Rick, married
to Mary Sue (Emerick) Ruth, Ephrata; 4 granddaughters and a great-grandson. Also surviving are 4 sisters, Betty (Ruth) Enck, Lititz, PA; Sylvia (Ruth) Breitigan, Lititz, PA; Gladys (Ruth), married
to William Wechter, Elm, PA; and Nancy (Ruth), married
to Robert Bradfield, Mt. Joy, PA; and 3 brothers, Walter, married

to Susan Ruth, Lititz, PA. A daughter, Brenda Hoover, died in 1998.

Ada L. Roth, age 88, of 3915 Oregon Pike, Ephrata, Lancaster County, formerly of 114 East Chestnut Street, Ephrata, died Saturday in Ephrata Community Hospital where she was a patient since September 12th. Born in Bird-in-hand, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late John and Kathryn (Wagner) Englert. Her husband, Arthur E. Roth, died February 7, 1983. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Brownstown. Ada was employed for over 50 years by the former Miller-Hess Shoe Company, Akron, until their closing. She was an avid bingo player. to Jacob W. Buch, with whom she last resided; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandsons; and 3 great-great-grandchildren
