Natalia H. Wyniawskyj

Natalia H .Wyniawskyj, 86, a resident of Fairmount Homes in Ephrata, PA, formerly of Terre Hill, PA and Lehighton, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 after a lengthy illness.

Her husband, the late Zynowij Wyniawskyj, passed away March 2, 1997. They were married for 41 years.

Born in Kalisz, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Josephine (Stanoch) Drobitun.

She and her late husband owned and operated the Natalia Motel in Lehighton for many years before retiring in 1982.

Natalia will be lovingly missed by her family and friends.

Natalia is survived by three sons: Richard W., husband of Donna E. (Hulsizer) Wyniawskyj of Charlevoix, MI, George, husband of Sherry (Huntington) Wyniawskyj of Oley, PA, and Woldoymyr, husband of Mary (Sweigart) Wyniawskyj of Reinholds, PA; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Walter Drobitun.

A viewing will be held at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals 100 W. Main St. Ephrata, PA 17522 on Sunday, March 15 from 6-8 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Andriy Rabiy at the Nativity of BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church 630 Laurel Street Reading, PA 19602 on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.

Final Commendation and Farewell will follow at Cedar Hill cemetery, State St. Ephrata, PA.

Alvin D. Haines

Alvin D. Haines, 98, a resident of StoneRidge Towne Centre in Myerstown, PA, formerly of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Towne Centre.

He was the husband of the late Helen M. (Haldeman) Haines, who passed away July 17, 2011, and son of the late Clayton and Carrie (Boyd) Haines.

Alvin was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and worked as a Production Foreman at New Holland Machine in New Holland, PA.

He is survived by one son, Lee D. Haines, husband of Mary Jane (Weber) Haines, of Ephrata, PA, one grandson, Bruce L. Haines, husband of Tami (Garman) Haines, of Manheim, PA, one granddaughter, Kimberly S., wife of Robert Cochran of Marienville, PA, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

In addition to his wife and parents, Alvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Clayton and Paul Haines, two sisters, Sarah Lindenberger and Edith Kretzing, and one step-sister, Mary Diviet.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 30th at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals 100 W. Main St. Ephrata, PA 17522 with Pastor Philip Walck officiating. Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m.

Place of interment is Cedar Hill cemetery, Ephrata, PA.

Donations in Alvin's memory may be made to Grace EC Church 131 Terrace Ave. Ephrata, PA 17522.

Jacqueline B. Serviss

Jackie Serviss, 47, of Lancashire Hall, Lancaster, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015 from complications of a brain tumor.

Prior to admission to Lancashire Hall Jackie resided in Ephrata, PA with her sister, Elizabeth, brother-in-law, Mike, and nieces Alicia and Isabelle Groff.

Jackie was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help church and a 1988 graduate of Ephrata High School. Jackie also attended Acadia, Inc. for neuro rehabilitation for the past 5 years.

The family is grateful to the staff of therapists at Acadia who worked with Jackie to enrich her life.

Jackie was a former Avon representative and she also used her knitting skills to make and donate baby blankets to the Ephrata Hospital.

For more than 20 years, Jackie volunteered her time with Our Mother of Perpetual Help kindergarten classes sharing her knowledge and love of sign language. Jackie also volunteered her time once a week at The Ephrata Manor helping residents with bingo.

Jackie was predeceased by her mother, Alice (nee Muldowney), in 1981 and her father, Bill in 2005. Besides her sister, brother-in-law and nieces, Jackie is survived by several aunts and uncles: Loretta Muldowney, Jack and Pat Muldowney, Bill Muldowney, Ann Marie and Dave DeBolt, Jane Muldowney, and Kathy and Jeff Simmons.

Jackie was a bright spot in the lives of others and enriched all with her positive attitude despite the many challenges she faced throughout her life. She was greatly loved and will be missed by many cousins and friends.

Viewings will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25 and from 10-10:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 26 at Gravenor Home For Funerals, 100 W. Main St. Ephrata, PA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 26 at OMPH Church 320 Church Ave. Ephrata, PA 17522. Final Commendation and Farewell will follow at Memory Gardens East Cocalico Twp., PA.

In lieu of flowers and because of Jackie's love for animals, donations to the Lancaster Co. SPCA, 848 S. Prince St. Lancaster, PA 17603-5812 in her memory would be much appreciated.

Karl J. Reddig

Karl J. Reddig, age 95 years, of Ephrata, PA, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Ephrata Manor.

He was the husband of the late Mae R. Reddig and son of the late Dallas and Viola (Becker) Reddig.

Karl is survived by his daughter, Joanne Petito of Bethlehem, PA, granddaughters: Suzanne Trautman of St. Louis, MO and Jennifer McGuire of Evanston, IL, and five great-grandchildren.

Karl was a member of Bethany UCC in Ephrata where he served as an Elder, Deacon, and Chairman of two building committees.

He was a graduate of Ephrata High School and Stevens Trade School in Lancaster, PA. Karl worked for many years as a Heating and Air Conditioning Salesman for SICO before his retirement.

Karl served in the US Navy during WWII and was Honorably Discharged in 1946.

He was also an avid salt water fisherman.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, March 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, 100 W. Main St. Ephrata, PA.

Friends will be received in the Cocalico Room at Bethany UCC Church, 140 E. Main St. Ephrata, PA 17522 on Friday, March 27 from 10-11 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. William LaSalle officiating. Place of interment will be Cedar Hill cemetery, Ephrata, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany UCC at the above address.

Robert D. Martin

Robert D. Martin, 78, of Ephrata, PA and formerly of Schaefferstown, PA, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Denver Health and Rehab in Denver, PA.

His wife, the late Goldie M. Martin, passed away March 7, 1997.

Robert was born in Schaefferstown, son of the late Granville and Pauline (Hetrick) Martin. He was a member of the US Army and PA National Guard and served as a Military Policeman during the Cuban Missle Crisis.

Robert attended Pine Grove Church in Bowmansville, PA.

He worked in the Petroleum Industry for most of his life and had been employed by the former Bob Lutz Co., Carlos Leffler Co., and most recently, Sauder Fuel, Inc. of Adamstown, PA

Robert was a member of Ephrata AMVETS Post 136, Ephrata Elks, American Legion Cloister Post 429 (Ephrata), Howell Lodge 405 F&AM (Honey Brook), Reading Rajah Shrine, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection Scottish Rite, and the Reamstown Athletic Association.

Surviving are three step-sons: William Haller Jr., husband of Mary Anne, of Denver, PA, Barry Haller, husband of Carol, of Denver, PA, and Garry Haller of Akron, PA; one step-daughter, Delories, wife of Leonard Fox Jr. of Ephrata, PA; one aunt, Ruth Hetrick of Lancaster, PA; and his close friend Arlene H. Good of Denver, PA.

In addition to his wife and parents, Robert was preceded in death by two step-children: Larry Haller and Violet Yunginger.

Friends will be received on Wed. March 4, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. and on Thurs. March 5, 2015 from 10-11 a.m. at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals 100 W. Main St. Ephrata, PA 17522. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Gravenor's with the Reverends David Parson and Delvin Martin officiating. Interment with Military Honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Jerusalem Lutheran cemetery in Rothsville, PA.

Dennis W. Rice

Dennis W. Rice, 65, of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Kathryn M. (Novotny) Rice and son of the late Augustus and Florence Rice.

Dennis was born in Tamaqua, PA and was a longtime Ephrata resident. He worked as a Press Operator in the Printing Industry.

In addition to his wife Kathryn, Dennis is survived by one daughter, Jennifer, wife of Adams Beears of Ephrata, PA, three grandchildren, one sister, Beverly Minnick of Lancaster, PA, and one brother, Gerry Rice, husband of Vickie, of Texas.

Dennis was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Rice.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family and are under the care of Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Ephrata, PA.

Fred M. Smith

Fred M. Smith, 93, a resident of Maple Farm Nursing Home in Akron, PA, formerly a long time resident of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Maple Farm.

Born in Lancaster, PA, Fred was a son of the late Jonas S. and Katie S. (Mentzer) Smith. He worked as a painter for Kenneth Gettle Painting of Schoeneck, PA for 20 years and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by a step-daughter, Janet Dosch of New Holland, PA, a sister, Emma Bertzfield of Lancaster, PA, a brother, Melvern Smith, 3 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are step-children from his second marriage: Barbara Ginder of Reinholds, PA, Kelly Newswanger of Lititz, PA, Jerry Royer of Robesonia, PA, Jeff Walters of Lititz, PA, Jody Walters of Stevens, PA, Randy Walters of Lititz, PA, and Jamey Walters of Reinholds, PA.

Fred was predeceased by his first wife, Marie (Mull) Smith in 1983 and his second wife, Betty (Lesher) Smith in 2000.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Daryl L. Smith, two step-sons, Vernon Weidman and Rick Walters, sisters: Violet Givler, Kathryn Howe, Mabel Smith, and Betty Waid, and brothers: Clarence, Irwin, and Henry Smith.

Friends will be received at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, 100 West Main St., Ephrata, PA from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, April 22nd. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Jeffrey H. Goodman officiating. Place of interment will be Memory Gardens, E. Cocalico Twp., PA.

Phyllis A. Miller

Phyllis A. Miller, 78, a resident of Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, PA, formerly of Denver, PA and Folson, PA, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 14, 2013. Phyllis was the wife of Howard W. Miller.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Herbert E. and Vera A. (Wagner) Jahn. She was a member of First Church in Ephrata, PA and was a retired Church Secretary, formerly employed by Ridley Park United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband Howard, she is survived by two daughters: Lea, wife of Michael Nester of Allentown, PA and Janice, wife of John Cordes of New Hope, PA; a son, Bruce Miller, husband of Becky, of Denver, PA; and 7 grandsons.

Memorial services will be held at the Sell Chapel of Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, PA on Wednesday, April 24th. Doors will be open at 1 p.m. and the service will begin at 2 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided afterwards.

Services are under the care of Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Ephrata, PA.

Sanford S. Robinholt

Sanford S. Robinholt, 83, of Leola, PA, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Hamilton Arms Center in Lancaster, PA.

He was the husband of Janice A. (Riley) Robinholt and son of the late Henry R. and Elizabeth A. (Shistle) Robinholt.

Sanford was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Leola.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-72 and was a Life Member of the Air Force Sergeants Association. He was also a member of Cocalico Post #429 American Legion.

After leaving the military, Sanford worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Lancaster, PA until 1986. He was most recently employed as a School Bus Driver in the Conestoga Valley School District until retiring in 1996.

Sanford was a member of Lancaster Masonic Lodge #43 F&AM and Scottish Rite Valley of Harrisburg Consistory.

In addition to his wife, Janice, he is survived by a step-son, Kenneth Zanderfecht of Pueblo, CO, 4 step-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-great-granddaughter, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Edwin Stricker

Edwin Stricker, 87, of Stevens, PA, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center in Lititz, PA. He was the husband of Maida (Angel) Stricker.

Edwin was born in Schoeneck, PA and served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. After retiring from the Air Force, he was employed at High Concrete in Denver, PA. Edwin was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Ephrata, PA.

In addition to his wife, Maida, Edwin is survived by a son, John P. Stricker, husband of Haley (Orth) Stricker, of Stevens, PA, a daughter, Patricia, wife of Peter Jacobs of West Reading, PA, four grandchildren: Brandon, Jeremy (Denise), Madelynn, and Shree, and one great-granddaughter, Autumn.

Edwin was preceded in death by a son, Nickolas Stricker.

Prayer services will be held at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, PA at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2nd followed by interment with Full Military Honors at Indiantown Gap National cemetery, E. Hanover Twp., Lebanon County, PA.
