Donald R. Warfel
Donald R. Warfel, 80, of Ephrata, died on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Lancaster General Hospital. Mr. Warfel was the husband of Dorothy I. (Hilton) Warfel.
Donald was born in Lancaster, a son of the late Leon and Isabelle Warfel. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, worked in the Mobile Home Manufacturing Industry and later retired as a self-employed painter and wallpaper hanger. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing pinochle.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a step-daughter, Ashley S., wife of Phillip C. Yohn, of Ephrata; a step-son, Michael L. Fletcher, husband of Rebecca (Williams) Fletcher of Redford, MI; four grandchildren: David Yohn, Amy, wife of Louis Wright, Daniel Yohn and Alison Fletcher; and a sister, Nancy Hershey.
Friends will be received at Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Inc., 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, PA from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2009. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael L. Fletcher officiating. Interment with Military Honors at Memory Gardens, East Cocalico Twp., Pa.

Dorothy M. Good
Dorothy M. Good, 79, of Ephrata, PA, died on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Lancaster General Hospital after a short illness. She was the wife of Ivan R. Good and a daughter of the late Milo M. and Carrie (Sheaffer) Martin.
Dorothy was born in Lancaster and was a long-time resident of Lancaster County. She worked as a secretary and retired from Ford New Holland in 1988.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Ellen L. Good, wife of David Leonard of Kennett Square, PA; three sons: Dean A. Good, husband of Rebecca (Hess) of Terre Hill, PA, Vaughn N. Good, husband of Joyce (Miller) of Bird-In-Hand, PA and Glenn D. Good, husband of Xiling Liu of Chicago, IL; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Good was preceded in death by a son, Jay R. Good and daughter-in-law, Jean (Miller) Good.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 1. Family Visitation will be at 2 p.m., followed by the service at 3 p.m. It will be held at Ephrata Church of the Nazarene, 110 Durlach Rd. (off West Main St.), Ephrata, PA 17522.

Sara H. Schreck
Sara Hess Schreck a mother and homemaker died Sunday, August 9, 2009 in Youngstown, Ohio with her family by her side, at the age of 89-1/2, as Sara would say, "almost 90."
She was preceded in death by her husband Chester, son John and brother Stanley.
She is survived by her son, Tom Schreck, daughter Barbara (Ronald) McGarry and two grandsons, Jeff and Keith McGarry.
Sara was a native and long time resident of Lancaster County. She was born at Meadowview Farm in the Lincoln area and never forgot her farm roots and love of animals.
Sara graduated from Ephrata High School in 1937, where she was a cheerleader and loved to participate in elocution. She attended McCann Business School in Reading prior to marrying in 1940. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Akron.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2009 at Paul L. Gravenor Home for Funerals, Inc., 100 W. Main Street, Ephrata with the Reverend Henry E. Herbener officiating. Friends may call for two hours prior to the service. Interment will be at Cedar Hill cemetery, Ephrata.
Wilbur E. Faus, Sr.
Wilbur E. Faus, Sr., 81, of Lititz, PA, died on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the VA Medical Center in Lebanon, PA. He was married
to the late Verna (Hoover) Faus who died in 1997.
Wilbur was born in Lititz and was a lifetime resident. He served in the Merchant Marines. Wilbur was formerly employed by Hadad Shoe Co. in Lancaster, PA and retired from Travis Mills Fabric Manufacturing Co. in Lititz.
Surviving are two sons: Wilbur Faus, Jr., husband of Merlina (Dabby) of Mead, WA and James Faus, husband of Patricia (Felker) of Ephrata, PA; 3 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 1 brother and 1 sister.
In addition to his wife, Wilbur was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Whittle.
Funeral services and interment with Full Military Honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2009 at Indiantown Gap National cemetery, East Hanover Twp., Lebanon County, PA.

Leroy M. Keith
Leroy M. Keith, 89, of Ephrata, died on July 27 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the son of the late John & Anna Keith. He was the husband of the late Sarah Keith (Spayd) who died in 2003.
Born in Reinholds, he lived most of his life in Ephrata.
Leroy served in the Army First Division during WWII in the European Theater. He was wounded and taken prisoner in Sicily and was then taken to Meiningen, Germany where he remained in a POW Camp from August 3 - October 28, 1943.
He retired from the Walter W. Moyer Company (Gerber) as a shipping manager.
He was a lifetime member of the Reinholds Fire Company and a lifetime member of the Cocalico Post VFW. He was a member of Swamp Christian Fellowship Church. Leroy was an avid golfer and enjoyed collecting golf balls.
He is survived by a son, Dale L., husband of Denise of Ephrata. He was predeceased by a grandson, Darren L.
Friends will be received at Swamp Christian Fellowship Church, 390 Swamp Church Rd., Reinholds, PA on Friday, July 31, 2009 from 9-10 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Craig Snow officiating.

Sara (Sally) M. Sprecher
Sara "Sally" M. Sprecher, 96, of Ephrata, PA, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, died on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Ephrata Manor. Mrs. Sprecher was the wife of John M. Sprecher, with whom she would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this November.
Sally was born in Philadelphia on May 13, 1913 to the late Frank W. and Sara (Cooper) Mueller. She was a 1931 graduate of Simon Gratz High School and 1935 graduate of Bucknell University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education.
A resident of Ephrata since 1939, Sally was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the church's choir, Ephrata Women's Club and Ephrata Flower Club.
She enjoyed traveling.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children: David G. Sprecher, husband of Debra A. Hazel of Ephrata and Jane E. Sprecher of Dobbs Ferry, NY; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, J. Dallas Mueller and a sister, Jean M. Hoyt.

Jerome P. Brunner
Jerome P. Bruner, 70, of Denver, PA, died on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Barbara E. (Bogner) Bruner and son of the late Charles M. and Lucille E. (Casey) Bruner.
Mr. Bruner was a carpenter and a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

Dale K. Shirk
Dale K. Shirk, 77, of Ephrata, PA, formerly of Palmyra, PA, died on Friday, July 17, 2009 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center in Lancaster, PA. Dale was the husband of Shirley Ann (Wright) Shirk, with whom he would have celebrated 20 years of marriage in November.
Born in Terre Hill, PA, Dale was a son of the late Eli and Ruth (Marshall) Shirk. He was a retired Computer Operator and was formerly employed for 33 years by the Commonwealth of PA in Harrisburg.
Dale was a member of Word of Life Deaf Lutheran Church, the Lancaster Association for the Deaf Club, a member and past president of Keystone Central Deaf Senior Citizens and a 1950 graduate of the PA School for the Deaf.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters: Tammy, wife of Paul Klick of Palmyra, PA, Laurie, wife of Joseph Kramer of Hershey, PA, Christina, wife of Josef Stambulski of Creal Springs, IL, and Sharon, wife of Joel Nicarry of Jonestown, PA; 10 grandchildren; a sister: Ruth Atkinson of Ephrata, PA; and two brothers: Robert Shirk, husband of Elizabeth of Akron, PA and Harrison Shirk, husband of Peggy of New Holland, PA.
In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita (Sanders) Shirk, a son, Dale Jr. and a brother, Gilbert Shirk.

Chester E. Fasnacht
Chester E. Fasnacht, 79 of Ephrata, PA, died on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center in Lancaster.
He was the husband of Patricia D. (Herr) Fasnacht and a son of the late Elmer and Lucy (Zerbe) Fasnacht.
Chester was born in Lincoln, PA, was a member of Wiest Memorial Church in Schoeneck, PA and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was employed by Gooding, Simpson & Mackes, Inc. of Ephrata.
In addition to his wife, Chester is survived by a daughter, Susan A., wife of Doug L. VanOrden of Denver, PA; two grandchildren; and two sisters: Ella Mae Pannebecker of Mt. Airy, PA and Pauline McNulty of New Jersey.
In addition to his parents, Chester was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Bingeman.

Salinda B. Burkholder
Salinda B. Burkholder, 93, of Ephrata, PA, died on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the Denver Nursing Home. She was the widow of the late Edwin K. Burkholder and a daughter of the late Phares and Elizabeth (Bingeman) Burkholder.
Salinda was a member of the Ephrata Church of the Nazarene where she had been a Sunday School Teacher and a 50 year member of the choir. She was employed by the former Husin Shirt Factory in Ephratafor 26 years.
Surviving are four children: Almeta, wife of Justin Andrew, Carl L. Burkholder and William L., husband of Barbara (Shelly) Burkholder, all of Ephrata and Glenn L., husband of Carol (Edris) Burkholder of Lititz, PA.

Dorothy P. Murr
Dorothy P. Murr, 85, of Terre Hill, PA, formerly of Lancaster, PA, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Ephrata Manor in Ephrata, PA.
Dorothy was the widow of the late Walter F. Murr and a daughter of the late O'Donald and Fanny (Butler) West.
Dorothy was born in Nottinghamshire, England on June 21, 1924 and was a member of the British Air Force during World War II. She was formerly employed as a Private Duty Registered Nurse and was a member of Grace E. C. Church in Ephrata.
Surviving are five children: Carole Swinehart and Patricia McClenaghan both of Columbia, PA, Donald Murr of Ephrata, Mavis Hassler of Terre Hill and Sandra Murr of Lancaster; 7 grandchildren: Laura, Chuck, Anne, Neida, Junior, Jenny and Stephanie; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and two sisters: Doris Booker and Mavis Else, both of England.

Patrick F. Land
Patrick F. Land, 41, of Ephrata, PA, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Stacy (Leed) Land and a son of Jennie (Miller) Land and the late Robert C. Land.
Patrick was a member of the Ephrata Church of the Brethren. He was employed as a Pest Control Technician by J.C. Ehrlich in Lancaster.
He was involved with Scouting and enjoyed fishing at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. He also enjoyed hunting and Civil War History.
In addition to his wife and mother, Patrick is survived by two children: Alicia D. and Conner P. Land, both at home; three sisters: Teresa, wife of Greg Knoblich of CA, Kathryn Land of VA and Loretta, wife of John Gaetani of Reading, PA; and brother, Robert Land, husband of Jennifer of Lancaster, PA.
Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Ephrata Church of the Brethren, 201 Crescent Ave., Ephrata, PA. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rob Eshelman officiating. Interment will be in Mohler Brethren cemetery, Ephrata Twp., PA.
