Luther P. Lengel
Luther Paul Lengel, 79, of Pine Grove, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont.
Born in Pine Grove, November 4, 1923, he was a son of the late William and Annie Lengel Lengel. He was a 1940 graduate of Pine Grove High School.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a medical airman with the Station Hospital Company, 2101st Area Service Unit. He received the World War II Victory Ribbon.
He had been a steel worker at Quaker Alloy Casting, Myerstown.
He was a member of Schuylkill Church of the Brethren and a former member of the Pine Grove Men's Bowling Association.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Dorcas Harris; a daughter, LaVerne Houtz, Pine Grove; a son, Dean, Pine Grove; three granddaughters.
Services were held Wednesday, April 9, in Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, Sweet Arrow Lake Road, Pine Grove, with the Rev. Calvin Roop officiating. Interment was in Schuylkill Church of the Brethren cemetery, Pine Grove. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Phillip R. Lahr
Phillip R. Lahr, 69, of Dalmatia, died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at home.
Born in Dalmatia, December 22, 1933, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Mabel L. Radel Lahr.
He was a member of Grace Bible Church, Sunbury. He was a retired laborer from the former Quakerstate Farm, Klingerstown.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, four brothers, and three sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Bohner Lahr of Dalmatia; a daughter, Brenda L. Shaffer of Dalmatia; a brother, Kenneth Lahr of Lebanon; three sisters, Edna Chubb and Dora Basom, both of Selinsgrove, and Nancy White of Easton; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, from the James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, with the Rev. Dave Deetz officiating. Viewing will be Thursday at 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax.

Roy E. Kissinger
Roy E. Kissinger, 81, of Millersburg, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg.
Born in Lykens, May 22, 1921, he was a son of the late John D. and Esther Laura Etta Philips Kissinger.
He was a retired coal miner and carpenter. He was a member of Salem Church UCC, Pillow.
Surviving are his wife, Lenna M. Erdman Kissinger; two daughters, Trena M. Landis of Lebanon, and Betty A. Warfel of Millersburg; two brothers, John and Robert Kissinger, both of Gratz; a sister, Mae Starr of Gratz; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Religious services were held Monday, April 14, from the James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, with the Rev. J. Robert Snyder officiating. Interment was in Pillow Grandview cemetery, Pillow.

Millie K. Kauffman
Millie K. Kauffman, 88, of Tower City, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at ManorCare Health Services, Pottsville.
Born in Orwin, February 1, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Maude Woll Bendigo.
She was a retired clerk at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, its WELCA and Williams Valley Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Neal Woll.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Earl W.; a son, Jack E. of Quakertown; a daughter, Jill M. Rabuck of Tower City; four grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, April 14, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reinerton, with the Rev. Arthur Sonnenberg officiating. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery, RD Tower City. Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City, was in charge of arrangements.

Fred Beitler
Fred Beitler, 69, of Lykens, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at home.
He was a retired employee of the former AMP Inc., Williamstown. He was a graduate of the former Williamstown High School, and a member of the Gratz VFW Post 2385. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora M. Harter Beitler.
Surviving are two sons, Paul of Camp Hill, and Grant of Millersburg; a brother, Jacob Fredrick of Pottsville; a sister, Anna Jones of Williamstown; and a grandson, Kenny Batz of Lykens.
Memorial services were held at the convenience of the family at Calvary United Methodist cemetery, Wiconisco, with the Rev. Ann B. Overmiller officiating.
John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, was in charge of arrangements.

Henry C. Baugh, Jr.
Henry C. Baugh, Jr., 81, of Pillow, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at home.
Born in Richmond, VA, September 15, 1921, he was a son of the late Henry C. Baugh, Sr. and Annie Kirkham Baugh.
He was a retired engineer from the former Reading Railroad, Reading. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Marie Baugh, who died September 25, 2002; a brother, Raymond 'Pete' Baugh.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas of Denver, CO, and Gregory of reading; two daughters, Kathy Hankey of Poconos, and Joan Daniels of Pillow; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Religious services were held Monday, April 14, at St. Catherine of Siena RCC, Reading, with the Msgr. William W. Lynn assisted by the Rev. Harry McCreedy officiating. Interment was in Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville.
Memorial donations may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, 2938 Columbia Ave. Suite 1002, or a charity of your choice.
James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, was in charge of arrangements.

Ronald J. Sankus
Ronald Joseph Sankus, 62, of Hegins, died Friday, April 4, 2003, at Good Samritan Regional Medical center.
Born at Ashland, May 16, 1940, he was a son of Tillie M. Carl Sankus of Ashland, and the late John F. Sankus.
He was a graduate of Father Judge High school, Philadelphia. He was a retired police officer form the city of Philadelphia; a member of the Fraternal Order of Police No. 5; and the Bass and Blues Surf Club of Philadelphia.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife of 43 years, Joyce R. Neild Sankus; two sons, Ronald J., Jr., of Philadelphia, and Dennis J. of RD Klingerstown; a brother, John A. Sankus, Sr., of Philadelphia; a sister, Patricia Cassano of Ashland; and seven grandchildren.
There will be no services.
Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View is handling arrangements.

Pauline R. Peifer
Pauline R. Peifer, 78, of West Shore Health & Rehabilitation, formerly of Millersburg, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born in Millersburg, she was a daughter of the late Grant and Grace Lebo Peifer.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Millersburg.
Surviving are a nephew, Donald E. Teats of Linglestown.
Memorial graveside services were held on Monday, April 7, at Salem Lutheran cemetery, Killinger.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church, 324 North Street, Millersburg, 17061.
Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg, was in charge of arrangements.

A. Isabel Peiffer
A. Isabel 'Honey' Rissinger Peiffer, 97, of Brookshire, Virginia, formerly of Mt. Gretna, died Friday, March 14, 2003.
Born in Sacramento, she was a daughter of the late Jacob John Rissinger and Maybelle Saltzer Rissinger.
She was a 1923 graduate of Hubley Township School where she taught after her graduation from Kutztown University in 1928.
She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania, Swatara Chapter of Tremont, as well as the Historical Society of Lebanon County. She was a member of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem of Lebanon; a past member of the Lebanon Valley College Auxiliary; the American University Women's Club of Bradenton, Florida; and a long-time patron of both Music at Gretna and Gretna Productions.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Staley E. Peiffer of Lebanon.
Surviving are a daughter, Treasure R. Johnson of Washington DC; two granddaughters; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in July. Interment was in Camp Hill.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, National Office for Research, 1330 W. Peachtree St., Atlanta, GA 37309. Designate for research.

William R. Morgan
William R. "Peanut" Morgan, 89, of Williamstown, died Friday, April 4, 2003, at his home.
Born in Williamstown on March 3, 1914, he was a son of the late William D. and Lillie Frew Morgan.
He was a graduate of the former Williamstown High School. He was retired from the former Olmsted Air Force Base and had also worked for the former Donaldson Coal Co. He formerly served on the Williamstown Boro Council for over 28 years and had been President.
He was a member of the Williamstown United Methodist Church; a life member of the Liberty Hose Co. No. 1, Williamstown; over 35 year member of the Dauphin County Fireman Association; over 50 year member of the Ashlar Lodge No. 570 F & AM, Lykens and the Royal Grand Lodge; 61 year member of the Williamstown American Legion No. 239; and over 50 year member of the Williamstown V.F.W. He volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels in Williamstown for over 20 years and was a member of Williamstown Senior Citizens.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth E. Shomper, to whom he was married 67 years; a daughter, Anna Mae Wren of Havertown; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Masonic services will be held Wednesday, April 9, at 11 a.m. from the Williamstown United Methodist Church, with funeral services following with Rev. Elizabeth Whitehead. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, at the church. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Williamstown.
Memorial donations may be made to his church, East and Spruce Streets, Williamstown, 17098, or the Williamstown EMS, P.O. Box 74, Williamstown, 17098.
