Anna T. Kutzer
Anna T. Kutzer, 89, of Pine Grove, died Sunday, April 26, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Port Charlotte, Fla.

Born in Tremont, September 7, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Margaret Schadle Thomas.

She was a secretary for the former Waldorf Motors, Tremont, and a bookkeeper for Eastern Shooters, Tremont.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Pine Grove, treasurer of Pine Grove United Methodist Women and the UM district women, held offices at First United Methodist Church, Tremont, past matron of the former Swatara Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Tremont, member of Mary E. Moore Chapter 372, Order of Eastern Star, Pine Grove, and was active in the Tremont food bank.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert F.; five sisters, Clara Wheeler, Bess Thissell, Bertha Carpenter, Evelyn Hendler and Helene Gottshall; three brothers, Harry, Paul and Donald Thomas.

Surviving are nieces and nephews.

Services were held Saturday, May 3, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Ira Lydic officiating. Interment was in St. John Lutheran cemetery, Tremont. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Peter H. Kehler
Peter H. Kehler, 94, formerly of Pitman, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at Tremont Nursing Home.

Born December 24, 1908, he was a son of the late Henry M. and Minnie Gahres Kehler.

He was educated in the Kehler School at RR 1, Pitman. He was a coal miner for the Reading Coal Company and was last employed as an equipment operator for PennDOT, retiring in 1979. He was a life member of the Zion Evangelical Congregational Church at RR 1, Pitman, where he had been a former church board member for over 20 years. He was a former member of the Mahantongo Valley Senior Citizens; the Mahantongo Fire Company; the Woodmen of the World Lodge, Camp No. 433 of Pitman; and was a former driver for the Mahantongo Valley Ambulance Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive E. Wetzel Kehler, who died August 4, 2002, and three brothers, Franklin, John, and James Kehler.

Surviving are six children, Felix Kehler, Mary Jane Willier, Gene Kehler, all of Pitman, Peter A. Kehler of Harrisburg, Minnie Mae Kehler of Myerstown, and Charles Kehler of Valley View; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Gladys Maurer of Valley View and Pauline Wasser of Millersburg.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 3, in Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, RR 1, Pitman. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Evangelical Congregational Church Memorial Fund, RR 1, Pitman, PA 17964. The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RR 1, Klingerstown, has charge.

John L. Hayes
John L. "Jack" Hayes, 73, of Pine Grove, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at Pottsville Hospital.

Born in Kitchener, Ontario, October 3, 1929, he was a son of the late Thomas and Martha Hayes.

He was a Korean War veteran, receiving the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and the U.N. Service Medal.

He was a security guard at Fort Indiantown Gap Military Reservation, Annville.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a member of North End Fire Company Fire Police and a former Pine Grove Ambulance Association driver and EMT for 10 years.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, the former Joan Powell; three daughters, Susan Engle of Pine Grove, Jennifer Kramer of Tremont, and Kathy Cooper of Molleystown; two sons, Franklin Kintzel and Brian Kintzel, both of Pine Grove; a sister, Norma Wettlaufer of Alabama; and 13 grandchildren.

Memorial service were held Friday, 2, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Jim Jackson officiating. Interment was in Church of the Brethren cemetery, Pine Grove. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Gerald R. Spotts
Gerald R. Spotts, 72, of Halifax died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at home.

Born in Hickory Corners, the son of the late Charles and Margaret Thurston Spotts.

He was a 1949 graduate of the former Mahanoy Joint High School. He was a retired truck driver and mechanic for Shaffer Trucking, Inc. He was a member of Stone Valley UCC; Charter member of Hickory Corners Community Fire Co.; lifetime member of the NRA; Gabriel's Four gospel Quartet; Men in Harmony.

Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Barbara Boos Spotts; two daughters, Rosalie Kessler and Jacqualyn Nichols both of Sunbury; a son, Richard of Camp Hill; a brother, Truman of Herndon; a sister, Betty Pick of Sunbury; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Saturday, May 3, at the Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg. Interment was in Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 1517 Cedar Cliff Drive, Camp Hill, 17011. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Zimmerman
Evelyn Zimmerman, 62, of Tremont Health & Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Pine Grove, died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

Born in Pine Grove, December 5, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Edwin I. and Violet M. Ditzler Zimmerman.

She was of the Protestant faith.

There are no immediate survivors.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 1, at Schuylkill Church of the Brethren cemetery, Pine Grove. The Rev. Calvin Roop will officiate. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

Fern A. Witmer
Fern A. Witmer, 82, of Halifax, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at home.

Born in Valley View, January 8, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Irvin G. and Edna Jenny Ellen Carl Snyder.

She was a member of St. James Church, Carsonville and taught Sunday school at Pilgrim Holiness Church and Nazarene Church, both in Harrisburg. She was a missionary leader for 20 years at Pilgrim Holiness Church. She was a member of Lykens Valley Roamers Camping Club.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charles I. Witmer, Sr.; a granddaughter, Baby Girl Witmer; and a great-grandson, John David Osman.

Surviving are her husband, Charles C. Witmer; two sons, John and Dan Witmer, both of Carsonville; a daughter, Dorothy Strohm of Millersburg; two brothers, Earl E. Snyder of Halifax, and Irvin G. Snyder, Jr. of Wiconisco; two sisters, Erma Deitrich and June Lenker, both of Wiconisco; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 25, at St. James Church, Carsonville, with the Rev. Eric K. Yingst officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, was in charge of arrangements.

Anna E. Seiger
Anna E. Seiger, 82, of Pine Grove, died Friday, April 25, 2003, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

Born in Washington Township, February 5, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Bertha Daubert Morgan.

She had worked in the former Morgan's Meat Market, Pine Grove, and was last employed as seamstress at the former Summit Station Mfg., Pine Grove.

She was a member of Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, Pine Grove Senior Citizens and Mary E. Moore Chapter 372, Order of the Eastern Star, all of Pine Grove.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George A.; a sister, Miriam Madenford; two brothers, Arthur and Russell Morgan.

Surviving are nieces and nephews.

Services were held Tuesday, April 29, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Calvin Roop officiating. Interment was in Schuylkill Church of the Brethren cemetery, Pine Grove. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Kathryn A. Schreffler
Kathryn A. Schreffler, age 95, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2003, at Dauphin Manor, Harrisburg.

Born at Lykens, October 17, 1907, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Jennie Shoop Schreffler.

Surviving are two brothers, Thomas L. and Frank G. Schreffler, both of Lykens; three sisters, Jennie Dodd of South Carolina, Elsie Noggle of Middletown, and Betty Fromme of Lykens.

Graveside services were held at the convenience of the family, at Calvary United Methodist cemetery, Wiconisco, with the Rev. Keith J. Schmuck officiating.

John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens was in charge of arrangements.

Ann D. Schmidt
Ann Dolores Schmidt, 63, of Elizabethville, died Sunday, April 12, 2003, at her home.

She was a member of the Penbrook United Church of Christ.

Surviving are her father, Martin Schmidt of New York; one nephew, Jason Schmidt of New York and one niece, Lina Schmidt of Missouri.

Graveside services were held Friday, at the William Howard Day cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Stoudt, officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made to Penbrook United Church of Christ, 56 Banks Street, Harrisburg, 17103.

Hetrick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Stanley Roadcap
Stanley Roadcap, 79, of Millersburg, died Friday, April 25, 2003, at home.

He was retired from the Kocher Coal Company, Valley View, and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

Born in Broadway, VA, he was a son of the late Ward and Mary Rinker Roadcap.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Warner.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley D. Erdman Roadcap; two daughters, Joanne Frank of New Cumberland and Mildred Teter of Lemoyne; two brothers, Ward, Jr., and Les, both of Millersburg; two sisters, Eunice Lower of Berrysburg and Margie Bellis of Millersburg.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 1, at 2 p.m., at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg. Interment with military honors will be in Salem Lutheran cemetery, Killinger. Viewing will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg, is handling arrangements.

John Osag
John Osag, 83, of Sewaren, N.J., formerly of Williamstown, died April 15, 2003, at home.

Born in Hungary, November 23, 1919, he was a son of the late John and Mary Poloncak Osag.

He enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1939, and served in the Army from 1941-45, attaining the rank of staff sergeant.

He worked as a chemical operator for American Agriculture Chemical Co., for 34 years. He worked as a mechanic and maintenance worker for Woodbridge Township for 10 years.

He was a former member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, where he was a founder and first president of its Holy Name Society, a member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Port Reading, N.J., serving as a trustee, Eucharistic minister and adult altar server, its Holy Name Society and a member and 10-year president of ICWU Union, Local 434, member of Port Reading-Sewaren Senior Citizens and former member of the mayor's Senior Citizens Advisory Board.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Ethel Bodak; two daughters, Arlene Pedersen of Edison, N.J., and Karen Brenner of Port Reading, N.J.; a brother, Vince of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Mary Underkoffler and Margaret Turns, both of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services were held Tuesday, April 22, from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, Woodbridge, N.J. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Interment was in St. James cemetery, Woodbridge.
