Lillian M. Keiter
Lillian M. Keiter, 96, of Millersburg died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at the Susquehanna Lutheran Village.
Born February 8, 1907, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie James Arnold.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer L. Keiter.
Surviving are a son, Ted Keiter of Lykens; a daughter, Margaret Klinger of Elizabethville; two step-sisters, Ida Lower of Liverpool, and Minnie Lauver of Mount Pleasant Mills; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren.
Services were held on Monday, May 5, at Hoover Funeral Home Inc., Elizabethville, with the Rev. Edwin Kessler officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove cemetery, Elizabethville.

Jeannette P. Jacoby
Jeannette P. Jacoby, 81, of Tower City, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at the Pottsville Hospital.
Born in Pottsville, April 22, 1922, she was a daughter of the late John and Lois Pearl Boyd Hale.
She was of the Methodist faith; and a former member of the Eastern Star, Glen Chapter, Lykens.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herman, who died on January 25, 1990.
Surviving are two daughters, Ellen L. Carroll of Tower City, and Jeannette A. Rautzhan of Reading; a brother, John Boyd Hale of Schuylkill Haven; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 12, from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City, with Rev. Marcia Haller officiating. Interment was in Charles Baber cemetery, Pottsville. Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City, was in charge of arrangements.
Louise B. Heckert
Louise B. Heckert, 86, formerly of Tremont, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Toccoa Nursing Center, Toccoa, Ga.
Born in Minersville, October 26, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Robert E. and Catherine W. Sheeder Balliett. She was a 1934 graduate of Pottsville High School.
She was a retired secretary at the former Richmond Screw Anchor Co., Tremont.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur W. "Bill."
Surviving are a son, Craig R. of Pittsboro, N.C.; a daughter, Kathryn L. "Kay" Gauthier of Demorest, Ga.; a niece and three nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services were held at the convenience of the family from Lord Funeral Home Inc., Pottsville, with the Rev. Lynette Chapman officiating. Interment was in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Lord Funeral Home Inc., Pottsville, was in charge of arrangements.
Kathryn G. Gavaletz
Kathryn G. Gavaletz, 83, of Williamstown, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at the SCCI Hospital, Harrisburg.
Born in Spring Glen, January 29, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Katie Gilbert Coles.
She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Williamstown and a social member of the Williamstown American Legion No. 239.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Gavaletz who died in 1995 and a son, Dennis M. Charney in 2002.
Surviving are her daughter, Yvonne M. Artz of Williamstown; a brother, John Coles of Harrisburg; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two nieces.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 12, from the Dimon Funeral Home, Williamstown, with Rev. Marleen Griffith-Stull officiating. Interment was in the Fairview cemetery.

Louis Gatling
Louis Charles Gatling, Sr., 75, of Lykens, died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at the Stonebridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born October 13, 1927, in Kinston, NC.
He attended New Jersey schools and after two years at Princeton University, he extended his employment with the Two Guys Chain in NJ, for which he had worked since he was 8 years old and remained with them as a Senior Buyer for 40 years, until the company was sold. Louis was then employed by Trader Horn and worked for them until retirement. He relocated to Pennsylvania in January 1993. He was a member of the Elizabethville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1993.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis, who died in 1993.
Surviving are his wife, Loretta; four sons, Louis, Jr. of Etters, David of Elizabethville, Leonard of IL and William of Elizabethville; a sister, Madelyn J. Moore of East Orange, NJ; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Saturday, May 10, at the Kingdom Hall of Elizabethville.
Florence E. Zimmerman
Florence E. Zimmerman, 88, formerly of Wiconisco, died April 22, 2003, at Conestoga View Nursing Home, Lancaster.
Born January 31, 1915 in Lykens, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Verna Stayer Rowe.
She attended Lancaster Church of the Brethren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley "Snook" Zimmerman, who died April 22, 1993, and a brother, Raymond "Bud" Rowe.
Surviving are a son, Donald Zimmerman of Williamsport; a granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, May 3, at the Twin Valley Christian Alliance Church, with the Reverend Donald Morgantini, officiating. Interment was in Calvary U.M. cemetery. Kaufman Funeral Home, Williamsport, was in charge of arrangements.
Christopher E. Wallace
Christopher Edward Wallace, 17, of Tremont, died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, as a result of an automobile accident in Tremont Township.
Born December 17, 1985, in Willingboro, NJ, he was a son of Edward Wallace Jr. and Ann Giginis Wallace.
He was a junior member of at Pine Grove Area High School where he was a member of the Jr. ROTC. He was a member of New Beginnings Four Square Gospel Church, Tremont.
Surviving are his father and step-mother with whom he resided, Edward Jr. and Virginia Wallace; his mother, Ann Wallace of Florence, NJ; a brother and sister, Matthew and Victoria Wallace, at home; two step-brothers, Doug and Dustin Adams of Florence, NJ; and paternal grandparents, Edward and Virginia Wallace of Mount Holly, NJ.
Memorial service were held Friday, May 2, at New Beginnings Foursquare Gospel Church, with the Rev. Alfred Roeckel officiating. Interment was in New Beginnings Foursquare Gospel cemetery, Tremont. Edgar R. Shadle
Edgar Raymond Shadle, 80, of Annville, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.
Born September 15, 1922 in Hegins, he was a son of the late Raymond and Verdie Lucas Shadle.
He retired from Hershey Foods in the Mill Production, Hershey. He was a member of Church of God, Weishample; the American Legion Post 559, Annville; and Confectioners Union 464 of Hershey. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Len, Marvin, and Harvey Shadle.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mae Witmer Shadle; a son, Ronald Shadle of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Gloria Reed of Annville; two brothers, Kenneth Shadle of Hegins, and Earl Shadle of Sacramento; two sisters, Virginia Maurer of Horca Path, SC, and Doris Smith of Ashland; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Religious service were held on Friday, May 2, at Buse Funeral Home, Palmyra, with Rev. William Peters, officiating. Interment was in Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville.

Dale K. Shadle Sr.
Dale K. Shadle, Sr., 77, of Tower City, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.
He was a World War II Navy Veteran; was a retired Heavy Equipment Mechanic from Susquehanna Valley Construction. Dale was of the Lutheran faith; a member of the Williamstown American Legion No. 239; the Tower City Fire Company; a life member of the Gratz VFW; and was a former member and past Master of the Ashlar Lodge No. 570 F&AM; , Lykens.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Nancy J. Klinger Shadle; his children, Dale, Jr., of Mechanicsburg and Darlla Tolley of NC; his step-children, William Messner of Valley View and Melissa Smith of Millersburg; a brother, Dean; and a sister, Ellen Stump, both of Tower City; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services were held on Monday, May 5, from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., with Rev. Linda Bonfiglio officiating. Interment with full military honors was in Ft. Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville. Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City, was in charge of arrangements.
Mary K. Schwalm
Mary K. Schwalm, 85, of Pine Grove, died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Pine Grove, October 3, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Elma Schucker Martin. She was a graduate of Pine Grove High School and a 1936 graduate of West Chester Normal School.
She had been employed as a teacher in Shoemakersville and as a substitute teacher in Pine Grove Area School District in music and English.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A., who died on March 14, 1989; a sister, Dorothy Clements; a brother, John Martin; and a granddaughter, Allyson Schwalm.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jo Rudiman of Girardville, and Sally LeVan of Pine Grove; a son, Richard of Lebanon; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Bernice L. Mace
Bernice L. Mace, 79, formerly of Spring Glenn, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont.
Born in Lykens, February 3, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Daniel J. and Nora Poly Ann Williard Wiest.
She was a member of Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz.
Surviving are her husband, James B. Mace; a daughter, Suzanne E. Tallman of Tower City; three sons, Russell E. Kerstetter of Spring Glen, Dennis R. Mace of Hegins, and Guy L. Mace of Shamokin RD; a brother, Williard Wiest of Hollidasburg; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Religious services were held Saturday, May 3, at Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz, with the Rev. Barry Ridge officiating. Interment was in Gratz Union cemetery.

Kevin T. Lucas, Jr.
Kevin Todd Lucas, Jr., 18, of Donaldson, died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, in Frailey Township, as the result of an automobile accident.
Born January 1, 1985, in Pottsville, he was a son of Kevin T. Sr. and Robyn Y. Murphy Lucas of Donaldson.
He was a senior member at Pine Grove Area High School where he was a member of the Jr. ROTC attaining the rank of Sergeant; a former member of the football team; an honor roll student; and a member of the National Honor Society. He was enrolled in the electrical program of the school's VOTEC and recently took an aptitude test to begin apprenticeship with the Electrical Union of Reading. He also received a certificate for high achievement in the reading aptitude test. He was employed by McCarty's Tire, Mechanicsburg, through the high school's Co-op Program.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ray A. Lucas.
Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother, Dakota P. Lucas, at home; paternal grandmother, Lila J. Lucas of Donaldson; maternal grandparents William P. and Betty J. Murphy of Joliett; several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Religious services were held Saturday, May 3, from the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Don Boyd officiating. Interment was in Salem United Methodist cemetery, Weishample.
