F. Newton Lyter
F. Newton "Newt" Lyter, 87, of Halifax, died Tuesday, June 8, 2003.
Born in Dauphin, he was a son of the late Frank and Sarah Thompson Lyter.
He retired from the former PA Railroad. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Fisherville; he was a pianist for the Sunday school at St. Peter's "Fetterhoff's" Lutheran Church, Halifax; lifetime member and past master of Pleasant Hill Grange No. 1358; charter member of Fisherville Fire Co.; he sang with the former PA railroad chorus; and he enjoyed music, gardening, hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Jane Seiders Lyter.
Surviving are his wife, Rema W. Lenker Schadel Lyter; a son, Richard N. of Halifax; a daughter, Charlotte Deibler of Halifax; step-sons, Roger Schadel of Halifax and Cois Schadel of Herndon; step-daughters, Judy Paul of Middletown and Rita Krakowski of Halifax; three grandsons; eight step-grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Monday, July 14th at St. Peter's "Fetterhoff's" Lutheran Church. Interment was in Long's cemetery, Halifax.

Clifford D. Krammes
Clifford D. Krammes, 85, of Pine Grove, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
Born in Rock, May 13, 1918, he was a son of the late Lewis and Esther Werdt Krammes. He was a graduate of Pine Grove High School.
He had been employed as a miner and in the remelting department of Alcoa, Cressona.
He was a sergeant in the Army during World War II having served with Battery C 206th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion. He served in GO33WD45 and the Western Pacific. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon and American Theater Ribbon.
He was of the Protestant faith, and was a member of the Pine Grove Homing Pigeon Club.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 25 years, the former Anna Patako, who died on April 17, 1970; a granddaughter, Wendy Jo Krammes.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, the former Edna Mae Loy Nagle; a son, Clifford L. of Rock; three daughters, Sandra Krammes Standley of Center Valley, and June Nagle Derfler and Gloria Nagle Knehr, both of the Pine Grove area; a sister, Dora Krammes Knauer of Bernville; six grandchildren; a great-grandson.
Services were held Monday, July 14, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Mary Lou Eckels officiating. Interment was in Manbeck's cemetery, Schuylkill Haven. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
Henry W. Klinger
Henry W. Klinger, 85, died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Harrisburg Hospital.
Born in Lykens, October 20, 1917, he was a son of the late Phillip and Elizabeth Chubb Klinger. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, and the American Legion Post 124, both of Lykens; and the Minstrel Association for many years.
He was preceded in death by a wife, Mabel Klinger.
Surviving are his wife, Helen A. Klinger; a son, Henry R. Klinger of Wiconisco; a daughter, Sandra J. Constance of Warminster; two step-daughters, Grace Miller and Constance Miller, both of Elizabethville; four sisters, Elizabeth Raho of Tower City, Margaret Ressler of Wiconisco, Evelyn Hunter of Lykens, and Mildred Griffin of Centerpoint, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 18, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Lykens, with the Rev. Grace T. Lawrence officiating. Interment will be in Calvary United Methodist cemetery.

Orpha M. Kitchen
Orpha M. Kitchen, 72, of Millersburg, died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at the Harrisburg Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A. Kitchen.
Graveside memorial services will be held at Riverview Memorial Gardens on Friday at 10 a.m.

Kim M. Browning
Kim M. Browning, 41, formerly of Tower City, died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg, after a lengthy illness.
She was of the Protestant faith and a graduate of Williams Valley High School.
Surviving are her mother and step-father, Faye and Richard Rabuck of Tower City; three children; a brother and a sister.
Private services were held at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Donald Morgantini officiating. Interment was in Northumberland Memorial Park. Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City, was in charge of arrangements.
David L. Baumert
David L. "Davy" Baumert, 47, of RR1 Herndon, died Monday, July 7, 2003, on the family farm as the result of injuries suffered in a skid loader accident.
Born in Sunbury, November 15, 1955, he was a son of Margaret J. Shaffer Baumert, RR1 Herndon, and the late George E. Baumert, who died February 25, 1985. He was a 1974 graduate of Line Mountain High School.
He was a self-employed farmer.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are three brothers, George of RR1 Dalmatia, Kevin of Elizabethville, and Ricky of RR1 Herndon; six sisters, Ruby Brown, Jean Erdman and Margaret Derck, all of RR1 Herndon, Barbara Adams of RR1 Dalmatia, Sandra Bolton of RR1 Millersburg, and Debra Donmoyer of RR1 Lykens; nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; aunts and uncles.
Services were held Friday, July 11, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Urban, with the Rev. David Walthour officiating. Interment was in St. Paul's UCC cemetery, Urban. Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RR1 Klingerstown, was in charge of arrangements.
Edward F. Bair
Edward F. Bair, 65, formerly of Williamstown, died Friday, July 4, 2003, at the Holy Spirit Hospital.
He was an Army Veteran and a Disabled American Veteran.
Surviving are two sons, Richard and Matthew Bair, both residing in Pennsylvania; and a sister, Ida K. Peters of Clarks Valley.
Graveside services with full military honors were held Thursday, July 10, at Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville.

Dorothy M. Zerby
Dorothy M. Zerby, 96, formerly of Highspire, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Frey Village Retirement Center, Middletown.
Born in Williamstown, October 9, 1906, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Clara Spotts Geist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford McNeal; and her second husband, John A Zerby.
Surviving are two nephews, John Rusbatch of Lykens, and Robert Rusbatch of Harrisburg.
Grave side services will be held Wednesday, July 9, at 11 a.m. at the Williamstown United Methodist cemetery, with the Rev. Marleen Griffith-Stull officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation. John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, is handling arrangements.
Hazel V. Shrawder
Hazel V. Shrawder, 92 of Millersburg, formerly of Elizabethville, died on Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at the Susquehanna Lutheran Village.
She was a retired sewing operator for the former Ned Rich shirt factory, Elizabethville.
She was a daughter of the late James and Lillian Bechtel Brenneman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther H. Shrawder.
Surviving are a son, Larry E. Shrawder of Elizabethville; two daughters, Fern M. Heberling of Tower City, and Linda K. Straub of Millersburg; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Clayton Cletus Shoop, 23, and his 7-month-old son Nathaniel Thomas Shoop, both of 236 N. West St., Williamstown, who died June 19, 2003 in a fire at their home, were held Tuesday, July 8, at Williamstown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Elizabeth M. Whitehead and the Rev. Linda L. Alvin R. Scheib
Alvin R. Scheib, 60, of York, formerly of Spring Glen, died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at York Hospital.
Born March 3, 1943, in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Ralph and Helen Fetterolf Neugard Scheib. He was employed at York Concrete. He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Spring Glen.
Surviving are his wife, the former Linda Miller; two sisters, Mae Jones of Milton, and Janet Costa of Hegins; three step-sons; seven step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday, July 10, at 11 a.m. from Workinger-Semill Funeral Home, York. Interment will be in Prospect Hill cemetery, York. Workinger-Semill Funeral Home, York, is handling arrangements.
Kimberly D. Miller
Kimberly D. Nicholas Miller, 44, of Millersburg, formerly of Lemoyne, died Sunday, July 6, 2003, at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
She was a legal secretary for the law offices of Goldberg, Katzman & Shipman, P.C., Harrisburg; she was a graduate of Harrisburg Area Community College, with two Associate Degrees; a member of the 1977 graduating class of Cedar Cliff High School, Camp Hill; a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Lemoyne; and attended Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Gratz.
Born December 23, 1958, in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of Robert L. and Sandra A. Dysert Nicholas of Lemoyne.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Neal R. Miller; a daughter, Tawney L. Miller; a brother John R. Nicholas of Harrisburg; her paternal grandmother, Florence R. Nicholas of Harrisburg; two nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, in Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Gratz, with the Revs. Tim Dotson and Byron K. Krapf, officiating. Interment will be in Emmanuel Wesleyan Church cemetery, Gratz. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, in the church.

James R. Ludwig
James R. Ludwig, 84, of Niceville, Fla., formerly of Barry Township, died Friday, July 4, 2003, in Niceville.
Born in Weishample, January 3, 1919, he was a son of the late Irvin Sr. and Cora Moser Ludwig. He attended Barry Township schools.
He was a trackman for Conrail until his retirement.
He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Niceville, a former member of Church of the Nazarene, Lavelle, and a member of Railroad Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees, Lodge 1923.
Preceding him in death were five brothers, Jay, Irvin Jr., John, Allen and Joel.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, the former Pearl Klinger; a son, Bradley of Niceville; two grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, from Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Rick Newman and the Rev. Richard Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Salem United Methodist cemetery, Weishample. Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, is in charge of arrangements.
Ruth E. Jones
Ruth E. Jones, 71, of Wiconisco, died Friday, July 4, 2003 at home.
Born in Lykens, April 25, 1932, she was a daughter of the late John and Florence Hunter Stuppy. She was a graduate of Wiconisco High School.
She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Lykens.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Bowerman and Jean Snody.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph W. Jones; a son, Michael R. Jones of Ladson, S.C.; three daughters, JoAnn J. Kelleher of Plymouth, Janet C. Machamer of Wiconisco, and Shirley J. Bard of Williamstown; a sister, Doris Litchfield of Enola; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, July 8, at Our Lady Help of Christians Church with the Rev. Robert S. Panza officiating. Interment was in Calvary United Methodist cemetery. John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, was in charge of arrangements.

Abraham L. Huey, 85, of Donaldson, died Friday, July 4, 2003, at home.
Born in Schuylkill Haven, September 19, 1917, he was a son of the late Roy and Helen Frehafer Huey.
He worked as a miner all his life in different coal mines.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Elva M. Krommes Huey; a daughter, Beverly Paul of Schuylkill Haven; a sister, Jean Snyder of Greenville, S.C.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were private at the convenience of the family from Ebling Funeral Home, Cressona, with the Rev. Shawn Van Dyke officiating. Interment was in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Ebling Funeral Home, Cressona, was in charge of arrangements.
