Suzanne R. Herb
Suzanne R. Gebhard Herb, 54, of Halifax, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, in Harrisburg Hospital.
She was a registered nurse with Visiting Nurse Association of Harrisburg, a graduate of John Harris High School, Class of 1968 and Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1971. She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Roman Catholic Church, Lykens.
Surviving are her husband, John C. Herb, Jr.; two daughters, Anna Maria Corradi of Middletown and Teresa L. Herb, at home; one son, John C. Herb III of Marietta; her mother, Ruth I. Cook Gebhard of Middletown; four sisters, Roberta Husic of Millerstown, Nancy Rhodes of Bressler, Jeanne Gebhard of Middletown and Cathy Gracey of Halifax; three brothers, John Gebhard of Annville, James Gebhard of Harrisburg and Daniel Gebhard of Bressler; six grandchildren, Alexandra, Thomas, Mario, Ava, Nicolas and Porter; one step grandchild, Audriana; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 22, in Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Middletown, with Rev. Louis P. Ogden as celebrant. Interment was in Resurrection cemetery, West Hanover Twp.

Rev. Russel L. Hoffman
Rev. Russel L. Hoffman, 79, of Polk Assisted Living, Millersburg, formerly of Big Run, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at SCCI Hospital, Harrisburg.
Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Albert and Mae Lenker Hoffman.
He was a retired United Methodist minister, having served numerous churches in central Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Halifax High School; Lebanon Valley College; and United Seminary, Dayton, OH. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church; a member of the Halifax VFW Post No. 5750; and the Elizabethville Senior Citizens.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois M. Ort Hoffman; a son, David; and two brothers, Richard and Robert.
Surviving are his wife, Esther M. Swab Hoffman; a son, Donald N. Hoffman of Columbia; two daughters, Nancy M. Farmer of Rock Hall, MD, and Beverly S. Barnes of Lakeville, MA; a step-daughter, Doris M. Snyder of Lykens; a sister, Jean Enders of Halifax; three grandsons; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Saturday, Feb. 19, at Lykens United Methodist Church, Lykens, with the Rev. Keith J. Schmuck officiating.

Olga C. Hoverocker
Olga C. Hoverocker, 90, of Pine Grove, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville.
Born in McAdoo, Dec. 31, 1914, she was a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Kurtz Zula.
She had been employed as a seamstress at the former Van Huesen factory.
She was of the Catholic faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, John F.; five brothers, August, Felix, Julius, John and Robert Zula; three sisters, Elizabeth Klimko, Alma Cielinski and Dorothy Phelan.
Surviving are a daughter, Jane G. Kerstetter of Pine Grove, with whom she resided; two grandsons, Kevin D. Kerstetter of Friedensburg, and Daniel J. Kerstetter of Pine Grove; and three great-grandchildren, Connor, Taylor and Carson Kerstetter.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the convenience of the family in St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Minersville, by the Rev. Eric Gruber. Interment will be in Donaldson cemetery.

Jennie M. Kahler
Jennie M. Kahler, formerly of RR1, Dornsife, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg.
Born at RR1, Klingerstown, March 11, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Sadie Scheffler Engle.
She was a retired employee of the former Dormar Manufacturing, Gratz. She was educated in the Klingerstown area schools. She was of the Protestant faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin 'Zip' Kahler, who died Jan. 3, 1985; three sisters, Helen Klinger, Macie Erdman, and Viola Guinther; and two brothers, Leon and Raymond Engle.
Surviving are three daughters, Shirley J. Wiest of Valley View, Jean E. Alvord of RD, Dalmatia, and Yvonne M. Maurer of Klingerstown; a son, Dennis G. Kahler of RR1, Dornsife; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Andrew H. Maurer
Andrew H. Maurer, 78, of Harrisburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Community General Osteopathic Hospital.
Born in Tremont, July 18, 1926, he was a son of the late John A. and Sallie Rissinger Maurer.
He retired in 1982 as Manager of the Postal Employee Development Center in Lancaster and was a Navy Veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific area.
Andy was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Harrisburg and Robert Burns Lodge 464, F&AM; , Harrisburg.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Lee; six brothers; and three sisters.
Surviving are his wife of over 55 years, Lola M. Bressler Maurer; two sons, Randall C. Maurer of Mechanicsburg and Keith A. Maurer of Coopersburg; two brothers, Charles Maurer of York and T. James Maurer of Grosse Pointe, MI; a sister, Mildred Handshew of Shippensburg; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Luke, David, Amy, Jessica and Jeremy; and many nieces and nephews.

Arnold C. Miller
Arnold C. "Pete" Miller, 87, of Pine Grove, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, in Pottsville.
Born in Schuylkill Haven, Sept. 23, 1917, he was a son of the late Irvin and Maude Krause Miller.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 1226th SCU. He had been employed as an independent coal miner and was also a truck driver. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marlin "Pat" and Carl "Mike"; a sister, Kathryn Miller.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former Alice Geist; a daughter, Eileen Miller of Pine Grove; a grandson, Ronald Heinbach Jr. of Pottsville; a granddaughter, Kim Heinbach of Pine Grove; five brothers, Robert Miller of Womelsdorf, Thomas Miller, Arvel "Jeck" Miller and Earl Miller, all of Pine Grove, and Irvin "Chub" Miller Jr. of Schuylkill Haven; six sisters, Fern Miller of East Petersburg, Dorothy DeLong of Bernville, Priscilla "Sis" Baugh of Cherry Hill, N.J., June Wehry of Mount Pleasant, Arlene Beck of Pine Grove, and Dawn Keller of Friedensburg.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove. The Rev. Dr. Richard W. Schoenleber will officiate. Warren G. Morgan, 81, of Valley View, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at his residence.
Born in Valley View, Feb. 17, 1923, he was a son of the late Wilson and Emma Travitz Morgan.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He retired as a coal miner from the former Bush Coal Company, Good Spring.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former Mary E. Morgan; a daughter, Carol Ann Morgan of Stroudsburg; two grandsons, Thomas F. Minnich Jr. of Salunga, and Timothy M. Minnich of Hegins; two granddaughters, Tammy L. Schreffler of Lemoyne, and Trista A. Maurer of Gratz; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alma McCue, Lebanon, and Helen Miller, Elizabethville.

Terry L. Morris
Terry L. "Chicken" Morris, 36, of Tower City, died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005. while working in Williamstown.
Born in Pottsville, he was a son of Warren L. Sr. and Betty J. Soliday Morris, Tower City.
He was a self-employed carpenter.
He was a member of Tower City Loyal Order of Moose and the Tower City Fire Company.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Shutt.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his children, Kelsey M. Morris of Lykens, and Tyler J. Morris of Mechanicsburg; three sisters, Nancy Smith of Fountain, Judy Shutt of Hegins, and Sally May of Williamstown; three brothers, Kevin Shutt, Warren Jr. "Mike" Morris and Robert J. Morris, all of Tower City; nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, from the Chapel of Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the chapel. Harvey G. Raker
Harvey G. Raker, 80, of Millersburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Harrisburg Hospital.
Born in Hunters Station, August 1, 1924, he was a son of the late George W. and Gertie W. Sipe Raker.
He worked as a truck driver at the former Boyd Lenker Excavating; and also worked at the Goodwill store in Elizabethville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rolandis and Earl Raker.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth R. Leitzel Raker; three daughters, Carol Miller of Mifflinburg, Shirley Troutman of Harrisburg, and Dianna Simpkins of Millersburg; four sons, Donald Raker and Ronald Raker, both of Halifax, Richard Raker of Millersburg, and Steven Raker of Halifax; a sister, Gertie Schreffler of Fernandina Beach, FL; 12 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

James C. Schadle
James C. Schadle, 64, of Pine Grove, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at his home.
Born July 4, 1940, he was a son of the late Ray W. and Eva Klinger Schadle.
He was a retired truck driver for Felty Trucking, Pine Grove.
Surviving are two sons, Lynn C. Schadle of Harrisburg and Steven Schadle of Plano, TX; a daughter, Becci F. Schrock of Harrisburg; three brothers, Russel Schadle of Gratz, Leon M. Schadle of Tower City and Ray Schadle of Herndon; three sisters, Ellen Johnston of New Cumberland, Violet Williams of Sacramento and Kay Matter of Lykens; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Carrie C. Snyder
Carrie C. Snyder, 95, of Selinsgrove, formerly of RR1, Klingerstown, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at the Sunbury Community Hospital.
Born at Red Cross, Jan. 26, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Jay C. and Vesta Erdman Zartman.
She was a retired rural mail carrier, serving in Dornsife, Rebuck, and Leck Kill areas for many years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Leck Kill, and a former member of the Lutheran Church Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence N. 'Nipps' Snyder, who died Dec. 11, 1196; a son, Mark E. Snyder, who died May 24, 2004; and three brothers, Daniel, Fred, and Clarence Zartman.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Jean M. Snyder of Leck Kill; three grandchildren, Connie Ness, Mark S. Snyder, and Paul B. Gilbert; seven great-grandchildren, Kevin and Carol Warm, Krista and Sara Ness, Theresa Snyder, Gwendolyn and Helena Gilbert-Snyder; and two sisters, Anna Williams of Tremont, and Mary Barnhart of Millersburg.
