Janice A. Hoke
Janice A. Harmon Hoke, 68, of Lower Paxton Twp., formerly of Williamstown, died Friday, March 4, 2005, at Community General Osteopathic Hospital.
Born in Pottsville, Oct. 22, 1936 she was a daughter of the late Allen and Lillian Wolfe Harmon.

She graduated from Williamstown High School and was a member of the National Honor Society. She worked and retired from AMP, Inc., after 33 years of service.

She was preceded in death by a son, James A. Hoke, Sr.

Surviving are her husband of 48 years, James W. Hoke; a brother, George A. Harmon of San Antonio, TX; a grandson, James A. Hoke, Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Bailey DeEtta Hoke; two aunts, Mary Zimmerman of Pine Grove, and Verna George of Lykens.

A memorial service will be held Thursday morning, March 10, at 10 a.m., in Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Linglestown. A time of visitation will be held Thursday morning from 9:30-10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Maple Grove cemetery, Elizabethville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of PA, 3001 Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011. Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Linglestown, is in charge of arrangements.

Nancy I. King
Nancy I. King, 58, of Elizabethville, formerly of Millersburg, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.
Born in Wiconisco, December 5, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Ray and Evelyn Shiley Kemrer.

She was a past member of Welsey U.M. Church, Wiconisco.

She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Kemrer and sister, Rose Kemrer.

Surviving are her husband, Donald R. King; two daughters, Heather M. Clouser of Lykens, and Amanda M. Leal of Vacaville, CA; two sons, Rodney D. of Millersburg, and Brian D. of Elizabethville; six sisters, Thelma Klahre of Halifax, Linda Kemrer of Carsonville, Debra Lathrop of Vancouver, WA., Kay Riggs and Laura Grubb both of Portland, OR., and Patty Shaffer of Bisbee, AZ; five brothers, Terry Shiley of Lynden, WA.; Dale Kemrer of Shermansdale.; Larry Kemrer of Vancouver, WA.; Jay Kemrer of Halifax.; Stanley Kemrer of Billings, MT.; three grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; and a step-great-granddaughter.

Service's were held at Straws Church, Halifax, Friday, March 4, with the Rev. Ed D'agostino officiating. Interment was at Straw's Church cemetery, Halifax.
Hoover Funeral Home, Inc., Elizabethville, was in charge of arrangements.

Gertrude C. Shuler
Gertrude C. Shuler, 88, of Millersburg, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg.
Born in Liverpool, November 19, 1916, she was a daughter of the late H.A.S. and Elizabeth Leffler Shuler.

She was a graduate of Liverpool High and Shippensburg University with a B.S. in elementary education. She taught for four years in Liverpool Twp. School and retired after 39 years teaching in the Millersburg Area School District. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she served on the Administrative Board; Finance Committee; pastor parish relations committee; lay member to conference; sang in the choir and was a former Sunday school teacher and Sunday school pianist; was a member of PSEA; PSER; Millersburg Ferryboat Assoc.; Millersburg and Upper Paxton Twp. Historical Society; National Republican Committee; PASR and DCPSAR.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary E. Wert.

Surviving are two nieces, Martha Wert Vasiliades of Fayetteville, NY and Christine Wert Carlyon of Orwigsburg; a great-niece, Jane Adams of Dillsburg; and a great-great-niece Rachel Adams of Dillsburg.

Memorial services were held Sunday, March 6, at First United Methodist Church, Millersburg with the Rev. Dr. James Bonsell officiating. Interment was in the Liverpool cemetery.

Donations may be made to Gertrude C. Shuler Scholarship Fund, c/o 1st National Bank of Liverpool, 104 N. Front Street, P.O. Box A, Liverpool, PA 17045-0600. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg, was in charge of arrangements.

John H. Witmer
John H. Witmer, 82, of Hershey, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, in the M. S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born October 20, 1922 in Pillow, he was a son of the late Wayne and Katie Engle Witmer.

He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Palmyra.

He was preceded in death by three sisters.

Surviving are his wife, Faye M. Snyder Witmer; two sons, Roger Witmer of Sugar Land, TX, and Kerry Witmer of Bluemont, VA; a daughter, Annette Mastrangelo of Palmyra; a brother, Kermit Witmer of Dalmatia; three sisters, Brenda Smeltz of Valley View, Betty Moore, and Dolly Davis, both of FL; four grandchildren, Andrew, Allison, Amy and Heather.

Services will be held Thursday, March 10, at 11 a.m., in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Route 422 and Lucy Avenue, Hershey. Visitation will be Thursday from 10-11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Hershey cemetery.

Mildred N. Zimmerman
Mildred Naomi Zimmerman, 92, of Hegins, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Ashland Regional Medical Center, Fountain Springs.
Born in Valley View, Nov. 7, 1912, she was a daughter of the late William Henry and Rebecca Eva Kissinger Hoover.

She was a seamstress for the former Philmark Manufacturing Co., Valley View, for 44 years until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, and a former member of Tri-Valley Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis B., in 1975; a son, Richard E.; a brother, Charles Hoover; five sisters, Florence Green, Ruth Kimmel, Margaret Hoffman, Elda Evans and Blanche Felty.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, from Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View. The Rev. George S. Reynolds will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. There will be no viewing. Interment will be in Zions cemetery, Pitman. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.

Helen M. Bahm
Helen M. Bahm, 82, of Pine Grove, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at the home of her daughter, Diane Achey.
Born in Mount Aetna, July 19, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Beulah Zerbe Wagner.

She had been employed as a sewing machine operator at the former Summit Station Mfg., Pine Grove.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove, and Pine Grove Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sr., who died in 1979; a son, Joseph Jr.; a grandson, Michael Bahm; a great-granddaughter, Lillie Anspach; three brothers, Ernest Wagner Sr., Wally Wagner and Richard Hoffman; and a sister, Betty McHenry.

Surviving are two daughters, Diane Achey of Pine Grove, and Carol Hall of Vance, Ala.; a companion, John Krammes of Rock; a sister, Catherine Chapman of Tremont; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 19, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Dr. Richard Schoenleber officiating. Interment was in Hetzel's cemetery, Pine Grove.

Donations may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 312 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, PA 17963. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Bruce L. Bixler
Bruce Leroy Bixler, 79, of Valley View, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at home.
Born in Hubley Township, Dec. 31, 1925, he was a son of the late George W. and Minnie E. Rothermel Bixler. He was a graduate of Hubley Township High School.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant.

He retired as a coal miner from Kocher Coal Co., Valley View.

He was a member of the Sacramento Fire Company.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bryant L., in 2004.

Surviving are three sons, Don E. and George A., both of Hegins, and Steven B. of Valley View; a companion, Allberta Matter of Valley View; a sister, Betty Lila Welker of RD Lykens; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, from Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Curtis H.E. Zemencik officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Andrew's cemetery, Valley View. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.

Caroline M. Deeney
Caroline M. Deeney, 81, of Pine Grove, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at home.
Born in Philadelphia, April 7, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Marie McKenna.

She was of the Catholic faith, and was a graduate of Gratz High School, Philadelphia.

She had been employed as head secretary for Philco Ford, Philadelphia.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charles; a brother, Fred McKenna.

Surviving are her husband, Charles J.; two daughters, Maureen E. Kohn of Bloomingdale, Ill., and Susan Deeney of Havre de Grace, Md.; three grandchildren, Brian Kohn, Rachel Kohn and Hannah Close.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove. The Rev. Michael Ahrensfield will officiate. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Holy Sepulcher cemetery, Cheltenham. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

Esther M. Deiter
Esther Mae Deiter, 76, of Hegins, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville.
Born in Hegins, November 18, 1928, she was a daughter of the late William W. and Edna E. Wetzel Bloch.

She was a graduate of the former Hegins Twp. High School.

She retired as an egg candler and grader at Twin Valley Farmers Exchange Hegins.

She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church Hegins, where she was a member of the St. John's United Methodist Women and former member of the church choir.

She was also a member of the Tri-Valley Senior Citizens and a former member of the area women's card club.

She was preceded in death by a brother Leroy M Bloch.

Surviving are her husband, Earl E. Deiter; a brother Albert W. Bloch of Hegins; a niece; and a nephew.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 21, at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. William Danis officiating. Interment was in St. John's cemetery, Hegins.

Memorial donations may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church P.O. Box 285 Hegins PA 17938-0285. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.

Anna E. Dengler
Anna E. Dengler, 91, formerly of RR1 Ashland, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville, where she had been a patient since 1996.
Born in Hegins, Nov. 1, 1913, she was educated in the Barry Township schools.

She retired in 1973 from the former Starr Poultry Plant, Valley View.

She was a member of Christ's United Lutheran Church, Ashland, and its League of Christian Women and was a former member of the Valley View Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard R., on March 1, 1967.

Surviving are a daughter, Grace S. Johnson, and a son, Richard H. Dengler, both of Ashland; five grandchildren, Ralph R. and Allen L. Johnson, Melissa Klinger, Brenda Holmes and Jennifer Dengler; six great-grandchildren, Ralph R. and Allen L. Johnson, William and Kevin Holmes, Katlyn Klinger, and Jamie Dengler; two great-great-grandchildren, Virginia and Ralph H. Johnson.

Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 17, at Christ's United Lutheran Church, Ashland, with the Rev. Robert F. Hoenich officiating. Interment was in St. John's Kimmel's cemetery, Ashland.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ's United Lutheran Church, 437 Airport Road, Ashland, PA 17921. Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown, was in charge of arrangements.
