Carl T. Carroll
Carl T. Carroll, 47 of Williamstown, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, from injuries suffered from a roadside attack in Iraq. Carl was in Iraq for the past six months working for Titan Corporation, where he was the Kalsu Site Manager with linguist operation.
Born in Washington, DC, Jan. 27, 1958, he was a son of Anne Marie Carroll of West Virginia, and the late Clarence Carroll.

He was a US Army veteran. He retired in 2000 from Fort Indiantown Gap as a helicopter pilot instructor earning the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. He then worked for Keystone, as a helicopter pilot with Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, until he joined the Titan Corporation.

He was a member of the Williamstown United Methodist Church; life member of the Williamstown American legion; and a life member of the NRA. he had also been a volunteer with the Williamstown Ambulance Association.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife of 15 years, Karen L. Hay Carroll; a daughter, Brandy M. Carroll of Duncannon; two sons, Jason C. Carroll of Norfolk, VA, and Justine R. Welker, at home; two bothers, David of California, and Brian of West Virginia.

Funeral services with full military honors are pending and will be announced by Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City.

Memorial donations may be made to the Williamstown United Methodist Church, East and Spruce Streets, Williamstown, PA 17098. Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary C. Finley
Mary C. Finley, 61, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005 in San Antonio, Texas.
Born in Pottsville, Feb. 2, 1944, she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Roach of Newtown.

She was a graduate of Tremont High School. She was a retired Civil Service employee of the Lackland AFB Fire Department.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, C. Vance "Rocky" Finley.

Surviving are a son, Steven Finley of San Antonio, TX; a daughter, Stephanie Castillo of Bulverde, TX; a sister, Anna of Elizabethville; three grandchildren; a niece; and a grandnephew.

Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, San Antonio, Texas, was in charge of arrangements.

Richard K. Franck
Richard K. Franck, 71, of Pine Grove, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, in his home.
Born in Lancaster County, Oct. 19, 1933, he was a son of the late Christian S. and Kathryn S. Kreiter Franck.

He retired in 2003 from Oliver Sensenigs and Sons as a professional truck driver after 52 years of employment.

He was a member of Sinking Spring Fireman's Association and Dutchman Hunting Club, Juniata County.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James E.

Surviving are his wife of 15 years, the former Raeanna R. Krammes; two daughters, Tracey Franck and Holly Franck, both of Denver, Pa.; two sons, Brian Franck of Denver, and Dale Franc of Adamstown; a step-daughter, Penny Wolfe of Pine Grove; a step-son, Daryl Smith of Pine Grove; two brothers, Donald of Reamstown, and Carl of Denver; two sisters, Doris "Jeanie" Keith and Betty Schonour, both of Ephrata; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Celebration of life services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, in H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Lance Mills officiating. There will be a calling time from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hetzel's cemetery, Hetzel's Church Road, Pine Grove.

Memorial donations may be made to Covenant Home Care, c/o Hospice, 1510 Highway 61 South, Pottsville, PA 17901. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

John E. Gradwell
John Edward Gradwell, 99, of Valley View, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, at the home of his daughter, Sandra G. Thomas of Valley View.
Born in Shenandoah, Oct. 27, 1905, he was a son of the late William H. and Anna M. Gable Gradwell. He was raised in Shenandoah and in 1943 moved to Norristown, where he lived until his retirement, when he moved to Valley View.

Before retiring, he was employed by G. & W.H. Corson, Plymouth Meeting, as a foreman in the lime processing plant.

He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, and, before moving to Valley View, was a member of Ridge Avenue Methodist Church, Roxborough, Philadelphia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former E. Millicent Parfitt, who died Oct. 14, 2001; and three brothers, Charles, Philip and William.

Surviving are two daughters, Sandra G. Thomas of Valley View, and Janice E. Wrubleski of Ocean City, N.J., formerly of Blue Bell; four grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Valley View, with the Rev. George Reynolds officiating. Interment is in St. Andrews United Methodist cemetery, Valley View.

Memorial donations may be made to Tri-Valley Volunteer Home Care, 160 Red Horse Road, Pottsville, PA 17901. Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, is in charge of arrangements.

Patty S. Hatter
Patty Sue Hatter, 58, of Tremont, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, at home.
Born in Donaldson, May 19, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Ney Bressler.

She was a member of Donaldson United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Ralph Hatter; a daughter, Megan Zimmerman of Pine Grove; two sons, Joel and Daniel Hatter, both of Tremont; four sisters, Emily Boyer of Tremont, Sharon Lemke, Mary Minnichbach and Betty Luckenbill, all of Pine Grove; a brother, Tom Bressler of Donaldson; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 19, from Minnig-Berger Funeral Home, Tremont, with the Rev. Ira Lydic officiating. Interment was in Saint John's Lutheran cemetery, Tremont. Minnig-Berger Funeral Home, Tremont, was in charge of arrangements.

John C. Keiter
John C. Keiter, 93, of the Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at the home.
Born in Elizabethville, Sept. 10, 1911, he was a son of the late Glacie and Annie Rowe Keiter.

He was a World War II Navy Veteran, where he received the Purple Heart; was a retired Pharmacist, having owned his own pharmacy in St. Louis and retiring from St. Joseph Hospital, Phoenix, AZ, where he resided for over 40 years. John was of the Protestant faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret M. Pahira Keiter on December 31, 1996.

Surviving are a son, John "Jack" Keiter of Tower City; a sister, Gladys Masterson of Elizabethville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 21, from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City, with the Rev. Paul Keefer officiating. Interment was in the Resurrection cemetery, Harrisburg, with Rev. Bernard McGinley officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604. Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City, was in charge of arrangements.

Randy R. Koch
Randy R. Koch, 47, of Tremont, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2005, in the emergency room at Pottsville Hospital.
Born in Pottsville, Jan. 22, 1958, he was a son and step-son of Lonnie and Frances Knapp Noll of Tremont, and the late Roy Koch.

He was a 1975 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School and attended Penn State Schuylkill. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Tremont, and had been employed as a laborer for Supreme Corp., Jonestown.

He was a member of Civil War Preservation Trust and Paul Revere Society.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 22, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home, Pine Grove, with the Rev. Mary Lou Eckels officiating. Interment was in St. John's Lutheran cemetery, Tremont.

Donations in his memory may be made to Hillside SPCA, Hillside Road, Pottsville, PA 17901. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home, Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Harry E. Machamer
Harry E. Machamer of Wiconisco, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at home.
Born in Wiconisco, July 12, 1935, he was a son of the late Theodore and Anna Walborn Machamer.

He was a 1953 graduate of Wiconisco High School and an Army veteran.

He was a retired employee of the former American Heat Reclaiming Corporation, Lykens.

He was a lifetime member of Wiconisco Fire Company, Dauphin Fire Company and Volunteer Firemen's Association. He was a member of Dauphin County Fire Police Association and a social member of Liberty Hose Company No. 2, Lykens. He was a driver for the former Lykens and Wiconisco Ambulance associations.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James Machamer.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia J. Mazakas Machamer; a daughter, Christine Pell of Lykens; two brothers, William Machamer of Bellefonte, and John Machamer of Wiconisco; and a sister, Betty Maletich of Lykens.

Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Our Lady of Help Christians Catholic Church, Lykens, with the Rev. Tri M. Luong officiating. Interment was in Calvary United Methodist cemetery.

John A. Minnich
John A. "Ted" Minnich, 67, of Tower City, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, near his home.
Born in Wiconisco, Oct. 10, 1937, he was a son of the late Arthur F. and Mary E. Molko Minnich.

He was a graduate of Williamson Trade School.

He was a retired brick layer.

He was known as Bass Master at his camp in Oswego, NY.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael.

Surviving are his wife, Yvonne L. "Bonnie" Bohner Minnich, to whom he was married 47 years; two daughters, Debbie L. Kandybowski and Lori J. Deiter both of Clarks Valley; four brothers, Terry and Tom, both of Tower City, Rich of North Carolina, and Dave of Clarks Valley; two grandchildren, Jimmy and Christine Deiter; and a great-grandson.

Services were private.

Memorial donations may be sent to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Wiconisco St., Tower City, PA 17980. Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City, was in charge of arrangements.

Robert S. Reber
Robert Scott Reber, 42, of Pine Grove, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, in Hegins Township.
Born in Pottsville, June 27, 1963, he was a son of Ronald L. Reber, Auburn, and Carol E. Riegel Reber, Pine Grove.

He was the husband of Stephanie Lehr Reber. He was employed at Brush-Wellman, Reading.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was an Army veteran as a sergeant in the Grenada Conflict. He was a member of Disabled America Veterans, National Organization.

Surviving are a daughter, Zoa Reber, Hamburg; two sons, Zachary and Nicholas Reber, both of Pine Grove; a brother, Randy Reber of Auburn; a sister, Brenda Bashore of Pine Grove.

Religious services were held Sunday, Aug. 21, from Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Cressona, with the Rev. Howard Souder officiating. Interment was in Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville.

Clara A. Ressler
Clara Alverta Ressler, 92, of Valley View, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont.
Born in Hegins, June 19, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Carrie Kroh Kauffman. She was a graduate of the former Hegins Township High School. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen A. Ressler, who died in 1972.

Surviving are three sons, John A. Ressler of Valley View, Dennis K. Ressler of Bangplee, Thailand, and David C. Ressler of West Chester, OH; three sisters, Kitty Deardorff of Harrisburg, Irene Schovel of Millersburg, and Grace Hornberger of Valley View; and a granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, with the Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating. Interment was in Friedens cemetery, Hegins.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View PA 17983. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
