Helen M. Davis
Helen M. Davis, 93, formerly of Williamstown, died Thursday morning, October 2, 2003 at Pottsville Hospital.

Born in Newtown, June 4, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Martha Irvin McQuillian.

She was a member of the Williamstown United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy A., in 1993; an infant son; two brothers, Clyde and Lawrence McQuillian.

Surviving are a sister, Emily Schnell of Williamstown; two nieces; a nephew; cousins.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, October 7, at Fairview cemetery, Williamstown. The Rev. Elizabeth Whitehead will officiate. Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Williamstown, was in charge of arrangements.

Catherine A. Dietrich
Catherine A. Dietrich, 87, of Tower City, died Sunday, October 5, 2003, at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County.

Born in Clarks Valley, July 8, 1916, she was a daughter of the late William and Bertha Houtz Ney.

She was a member of Mountain Light Foursquare Gospel Church, Muir, where she had been a deaconess.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George M., who died in 1986.

Surviving are a son, Terry G. of Dillsburg; two daughters, Joanne C. Hand of Virginia, and Saundra L. Witmer of York; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, at Mountain Light Foursquare Gospel Church. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery, RD Tower City. Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City, is in charge of arrangements.

Helen E. Herb
Helen E. Herb, 88, of Tower City, died Friday, October 3, 2003, at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

Born in Muir, September, 1, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Annie Lehman.

She was last employed for various dress factories in the Tower City area.

She was a member of Mountain Light Foursquare Gospel Church, Muir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William M., in 1971; a sister, Betty Wagner; and two brothers, Hilbert and Clair Lehman.

Surviving are a son, William of Bel Air, Md.; a sister, Dora Evans of Bethlehem; and two grandsons.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 7, from Dimon Funeral Home, Tower City, with the Rev. Keith Whitmore officiating. Interment was in Fairview cemetery, Muir. Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, was in charge of arrangements.

Fred M. Schach Sr.
Fred M. Schach Sr., 83, of Pine Grove, died Friday, October 3, 2003, in the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont.

Born in Ravine, March 8, 1920, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Mary Jane Hoy Schach.

He was a veteran of World War II.

He had been employed as a mechanic for H.M. Felty Trucking, Pine Grove.

Surviving are a son, Fred M. of Pine Grove; a daughter, Linda Brobst of Schuylkill Haven; a brother, Charles R. "Haggerty" Schach of Pine Grove; two sisters, Elsie Scheib and Alice Wenrich, both of the Pine Grove; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held at convenience of the family. Interment was in St. Matthew's Lutheran cemetery, Ravine. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Robert C. Smeltz
Robert C. Smeltz, 78, of Millersburg, died Saturday, October 4, 2003, at the Polyclinic Medical Center, Harrisburg.

Born in Hegins, April 20th, 1925, he was a son of the late Daniel M. and Grace E. Huntzinger Smeltz.

He was the founder of Bob's Radio and TV lab, established in 1954 in Killinger. He was a member of St. Mathew's U.C.C., Spring Glen. He was a member of the Millersburg American Legion No. 326; Millersburg VFW Post No. 5507; Millersburg Moose Lodge No. 59; Millersburg Lions Club; Klingerstown Fire Co. He was an Army veteran of WW II.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie E. Phillips.

Surviving are his wife, Goldie S. Snyder Smeltz; two sons, Craig R. Smeltz and Todd B. Smeltz, both of Lykens; four daughters, Linda S. Miller of LaVern, CA, Janet L. Smeltz, Judy E. Zeiders, Lisa A. Sanford, all of Millersburg; a brother, Russell A. Smeltz of Lykens; two Sisters, Ruth F. Beissel and Shirley D. Brosius, both of Millersburg; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Memorial services will be held at his church on Wednesday, October 8, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Dauphin County Human Services, Dauphin County Administration Building 2 South Second Street, 5th Floor, Harrisburg, PA 17101. Hoover Funeral Home Inc., Millersburg, is handling arrangements.

Barbara A. Wilbert
Barbara Ann Wilbert, 57, of Millersburg, formerly of Dalmatia, died Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at Harrisburg Hospital.

Born July 5, 1946, in Richmond, VA, she was a daughter of Betty Joyce Ressler Eggleston, Millersburg, and the late Stuart Eggleston.

She graduated from the former Mahanoy Joint (Line Mountain) High School. She was a member of Assembly of God Church, Millersburg.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Steven E. Wilbert, whom she married on June 5, 1965; three daughters, Ginger Molar of California, Lisa Phillips of Millersburg, Tina Wilbert of Millersburg; a brother, Michael A. Eggleston of Millersburg; two sisters, Karen Roach of Sandston, VA, Connie Dietrich of Palmyra; and eight grandsons.

Religious services were held at Reinhard Funeral Home on Friday, October 3, with the Rev. Norman C. Lawrence officiating. Interment was in Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax, PA. Reinhard Funeral Home, was in charge of arrangements.

Arabel E. Adams
Arabel E. Adams, 84, of Dornsife, died Friday, September 26, 2003, at River Woods Nursing Home, Lewisburg.

Born February 3, 1919, at RR 1, Dornsife, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Laura Brosius Hilbush.

She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught for 40 years at the Leck Kill elementary School in the line Mountain School District, retiring in 1980.

She was a 1937 graduate of Pine Park High School at Leck Kill, and a 1943 graduate of the former Bloomsburg State Teacher College with a BS in education.

She was a life-long member of Himmels United Church of Christ, Rebuck, its Sunday school, and Women of the ELCA of the church. She was a member of the Local retired Teachers Association and the National Education Association. She was a member and Past Nobel Grand of the Idella Rebekah Lodge No. 58 of RR a, Dornsife, where she received the Decoration of Chivalry Award. She was a member of the Messiah Lodge No. 44, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Northumberland, and a member of the former Greenbriar Grange No. 1148, where she served as secretary for many years.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Bordner and Katie Rebuck.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Clyde C. Adams; two sons, Richard C. of RR 1, Dornsife, and Don C. of Lewisburg; four grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 30, from Himmels Church, Rebuck, with the Rev. Frederick Faust officiating. The Idella Rebekah Lodge No. 58 conducted a service on Monday evening. Interment was in the Himmels cemetery, Rebuck.

Memorial contributions may be made to Himmels Church Memorial Fund, Rebuck, 17867. The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RR 1, Klingerstown, was in charge of arrangements.

Esther M. Aungst
Esther M. Aungst, 89, formerly of Donaldson, died Monday, September 22, 2003, at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont.

Born in Donaldson, November 11, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Annie Reiner Seiger.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Donaldson. She had been meployed a a seamstress at the Pottsville Shirt Factory, Pottsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Aungst, who died June 21, 1976; a son, Robert Aungst; a grandson, Ronald Aungst; three sisters, Mabel Dinger, Alma Heiser, and Adella Long; and two brothers, Charles Seiger and Arthur Seiger.

Surviving are two daughters, Joan Kimmel and Lucille Fetter, both of Donaldson; a son, Ronald Aungst of Tremont; two brothers, Clyde Seiger of Donaldson, and Robert Seiger of Newtown; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 25, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Mary Lou Eckels officiaiting. Interment was in Donaldson cemetery, Donaldson.

Memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, c/o Frank Mohn, 19 E. Centre St., Donaldson, PA 17981. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrnagements.

William E. Davis
William E. Davis, 83, of Lower Paxton Twp., died Monday, September 29, 2003.

Born May 13, 1920 in Tower City, he was a son of the late Simon and Cora Davis.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Linglestown. He worked in management with Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, where he retired after 36 years of service. He was a Veteran of World War II, a Personnel Sgt. Major of a Fighter/Bomber Group in the Ninth Air Force in the European Theatre of Operations, was a life member of Lions International, a former President of the West Hanover Twp. Club and the Lower Paxton Twp. Club, was a life member of the Tower City Moose Lodge and a former Governor for the lodge. William was also a member of Harrisburg Lodge No. 629, F&AM; of PA, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Order, the Zembo Temple, the Zembo Luncheon Club, the Zembo Greeters Unit, the Cumberland Co. Shrine Club, and the Capital Area Scottish Rite Club. He was a member of the Linglestown American Legion Post No. 272, and had been a tutor for the Literacy Council of Central PA.

Surviving are his wife, Martha L.; a son, Thomas at home; a daughter, Melanie Whistler of Royalton; two brothers, Tom of Wormleysburg and Ted of Las Vegas.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 1, from 6-8 p.m., at Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Linglestown, with a Masonic Service at 7:45 p.m. and Thursday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Linglestown. The funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. at the church. Burial with full military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church Building Fund, 1214 Crosby Street, Linglestown, PA 17112.

Harvey A. Fetterolf
Harvey A. "Tuff" Fetterolf, 73, of Ashland, died Monday, September 22, 2003, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading, where he had been a patient since September 17.

Born in Mowry, July 10, 1930, he was a son of the late Harvey and Catherine Reinoehl Fetterolf.

He was an Army veteran.

He was a retired coal miner, having worked for various coal companies and was last employed at the Porter Tunnel Coal Mine for the former Kocher Coal Co., Valley View, retiring in 1983.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a life member of the East Cameron Township Fire Company, Gowen City, a social member of the Clover Hose Company, Mount Carmel, and a former member of the Ashland VFW Post.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Elmer and Gerald.

Surviving are his common-law wife, Bella M. Paul; four daughters, Joyce Balsavage of Ashland, Barbara Stepanchick of Lavelle, Deb Petro of Catawissa, and Catherine Kline of Mahanoy City; a step-son, Robert Paul Sr. of Ashland; a brother, Dean of RR1 Shamokin; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RR1 Klingerstown, is in charge of arrangements.

Jennifer L. Genner
Jennifer Lynn (Jante) Genner, 18, of Halifax, died Wednesday, September 24, 2003, at Hershey Medical Center as the result of an automobile crash that occurred on September 20.

She attended Milton Hershey, Susquenita and Halifax School Districts. She played softball and field hockey.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Larry Jante and her cousin, Shawnee Sposili.

Surviving are her parents, Michelle Jante and Richard L. Hoover, Jr., of Halifax; her father, Dennis W. Genner of Columbia; two sisters, Danielle and Sarah Jante of Halifax; maternal grandmother, Helen Jante of Duncannon; uncle and Godfather, Mark Jante of Halifax, uncle, Larry Jante, Jr., of Linglestown; aunt, Dee Walter of Halifax, aunt, Susan Jante of Linglestown; and a cousin, Chad Johnson of Linglestown.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4, from 2-4 p.m., at Hoover Funeral Home, Elizabethville. A Time of Sharing service will be held at 3 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jennifer Genner memorial fund, c/o any Community Bank's Office. Hoover Funeral Home, Elizabethville, is handling arrangements.
