Kathryn Hummel
Kathryn Hummel, 92, of Orwigsburg Center, formerly of Pine Grove and Schuylkill Haven, died Monday, October 13, 2003, at the center.

Born in Pine Grove, August 9, 1911, she was a daughter of the late Daniel T. and Clara Aungst Hummel.

She retired in 1964 as secretary to Dr. John Galson, Pine Grove.

She was a member of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Schuylkill Haven.

Surviving are two sisters, Margaret Galson of Pottsville, and Florence Frank of Lansdale; nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Orwigsburg Center. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove. Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, is in charge of arrangements.

James A. Leitzel
James Alan Leitzel, 64, of Elizabethville, died Saturday, October 18, 2003, at his residence.

Born on November 7, 1938 in Bloomsburg, he was a son of the late Fred and Hattie Brodner Leitzel.

He was a member of Free Grace Brethren in Christ Church, Millersburg and retired from Advanced Scientifics, Millersburg.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Leitzel and sister, Romaine Botts.

Surviving are his wife, Phoebe J. Shoop Leitzel at home; three sons, David A. Leitzel of Lykens, James E. Leitzel of Elizabethville, and Jeffrey L. Leitzel of Millersburg; a daughter, Andrea J. Kessler of Millersburg; three brothers, Robert Leitzel of Dillsburg, William Leitzel of Herndon, Lynn Leitzel of Elizabethville; two sisters, Sue Lebo of Elizabethville; JoAnn Hefron of Minersville; and five grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at his church on Wednesday, October 22, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Bethesda Mission, 611 Reily Street, Harrisburg, PA 17102 OR Hunger Relief Fund C/O Free Grace Brethren in Christ Church, Box 2134, Millersburg, PA 17061. Hoover Funeral Home Inc., Elizabethville, is handling arrangements.

Peter M. Marshue
Peter M. Marshue, 84, of Williamstown, died Thursday, October 16, 2003, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.
Born in Centralia on September 13, 1919, he was a son of the late Martin and Frances Kodack Marshue.

He was a World War II Army Veteran. He was a retired Coal Miner. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Williamstown American Legion Post No. 239 and a life member of the D.A.V., Chapter 31, Frackville.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Sandra A. Bensinger who died on June 2, 2003.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Romanick Marshue, to whom he was married 61 years; his son-in-law, Lance Bensinger of Williamstown and a sister, Agnes of CT.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, October 20, from his church, with Rev. Tri Luong officiating. Interment with military honors was in the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to his church, 140 E. Market Street, Williamstown, PA 17098. Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., was in charge of the arrangements.

Philip Miller
Philip Miller, 77, of Lykens, died Friday, October 10, 2003, at his home.
Services were held at the convenience of the family.

The Central Pennsylvania Cremation Society was in charge of arrangements.

Eric R.Musser Jr.
Eric R. Musser, Jr., 2, of Halifax, died Thursday, October 16, 2003, at Harrisburg Hospital.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday October 21, at Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax. Hoover Funeral Home, Elizabethville, was in charge of arrangements.

Alfred L. Troutman
Alfred L. 'Whitey' Troutman, 66, of RR 1, Herndon, died Monday, October 20, 2003, at the Sunbury Community Hospital.

Born at RR 1, Herndon, January 8, 1937, he was a son of the late Harvey E. and Carrie V. Kratzer Troutman.

He was a retired equipment operator for Meckley's Limestone, RR 1, Herndon, for 41 years, retiring in 1958.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving are his common law wife, Ethel Klinger Troutman of RR 1, Herndon; a daughter, Roxann L. Ness of Enola; a grandson, Brett R. Huff; three brothers, Wayne R Troutman of Mt. Joy, Darvin E. Troutman of RR 1, Klingerstown, and Kenneth D. Troutman of Montoursville; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday evening, October 23, at 7 p.m. at the Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RR 1, Klingerstown, with the Rev. Robert Sherfy officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Union cemetery, Pillow.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RR 1, Klingerstown, is in charge of arrangements.

Ada M. Wolfe
Ada M. Klinger Wolfe, 97, of Lykens, died Sunday, October 19, 2003, at home.
Born in Sacramento RD, August 24, 1906, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Jennie Rothermel Klinger.

She played guitar with the Wolfe Family and was a retired farmer. She was a member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church, Fearnot.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Wolfe; a son, Billy, four grandchildren; and two great grandsons.

Surviving are a son, Robert of Gratz; four daughters, Violet Snyder and Twila Geistwite, both of Lykens RD; Millie Leffler of Gratz, and Carol Ney of RD Lykens, with whom she resided; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Religious services will be held at St. Peters UM Church, Fearnot, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, with the Rev. William Danis officiating.

Friends are invited to call Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow. Interment will be in Gratz Union cemetery, Gratz.

Robert Wolfgang Jr.
Robert Wolfgang Jr., 29, of Lavelle, died Sunday, October 12, 2003, in Tremont Township.

Born in Ashland, Aug. 1, 1974, he was a son of Robert and Susie Fetterolf Wolfgang, Lavelle. He was a graduate of North Schuylkill Junior/Senior High School and Culinary Arts Institute of New York City.

He was a chef at the Hershey Hotel, Hershey.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Fetterolf, who died in 1998; and a paternal grandmother, Dorothy Wolfgang, who died in 1979.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Russell Weikel of Tremont; a sister, Suzanne Wolfgang of Kulpmont; a maternal grandmother, Marie Fetterolf of Mowry; a paternal grandfather, Robert O. Wolfgang of Danville.

Memorial service was held Saturday, October 18, in Christ Evangelical Congregational Church, Lavelle, with the Rev. Michael Eck officiating. Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, was in charge of arrangements.

Eva Deppen Bower
Eva Deppen Bower, 100, of R.D. Herndon, died Saturday, October 11, 2003, at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg.

Born September 18, 1903 in Hebe, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Harriet Troutman Deppen.

She was a member of St. Paul's U.C.C. Church, Urban.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Bower.

Surviving are a daughter, Leah O. Kessler of Herndon R.R.; two grandsons, Dale and Lynn Kessler, both of Herndon R.D.; a brother, Elmer Deppen of Fairless Hills, PA; and four great grandchildren.

Religious services were held at the James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, on Tuesday, October 14, with the Rev. Amy J. Schultz officiating. Interment was held at the convenience of the family in Urban cemetery.

Maude N. Bucher
Maude N. Bucher, 92, of Millersburg, died Sunday, October 5, 2003, at the Susquehanna Lutheran Village.

Born in Berrysburg on Saturday, July 15, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Cora Dockey.

She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Lykens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Bucher.

Surviving are two sons, Bruce L. of Gratz and Donald D. of Elizabethville; a brother, Clyde Dockey of Hegins; a sister, Hilda Miller of Gratz; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Thursday, October 9, at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville. Interment was in Maple Grove cemetery, Elizabethville.

Memorial contributions may be sent to her church at 1289 S. Crossroads Road, Lykens, PA 17048. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville, was in charge of arrangements.

William A. Carson
William A. "Smokey" Carson, 77, of Hunters Drive, Pine Grove, died Monday morning, October 6, 2003 at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

Born in Niles, Mich., November 13, 1925, he was a son of the late Byron and Mabel Irwin Boltinghouse.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 9th Infantry Division, 47th Infantry Regiment. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, a Purple Heart for wounds received in action in Germany, the World War II Victory Medal and German Occupation Medal.

He had been employed at Schuylkill Products Inc., Cressona.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Weand; a brother, Byron Boltinghouse; and a sister, Mary Thomas.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, the former Shirley Stafford; a son, William C. of Pine Grove; a brother, Robert Boltinghouse of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Jean Masterman of Indiana; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.
