Margaret E. (Sedlack) Stanko, 83 of Brentwood, died suddenly on Thursday, August 3, 2000, in Mercy Hospital. She was the wife of the late Frank B. Stanko, Sr.; mother of Frank B., Jr., Richard J., Carol M., Robert C., (Pattie), James P., and William V. (Debbie) Stanko; Grandmother of Heather Stanko; sister of Mary (Chuck) Winkler, Veronica (Cyril) Zvolensky; and the late Joseph, Andrew, Edward, Ann and Elizabeth Sedlack. Friends will be received in CIESLAK AND TATKO FUNERAL HOME INC., 2935 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, SUNDAY ONLY 1 to 9 p.m., where a funeral prayer will be held on Monday, at 9:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Sylvester Church with Fr. Sister of Murray V. and William R. Johnston. Grandmother of Darrah R. Bird, Evan Skye Thompson, Emilie C. Bird and Kelly A. Silverman. Interment private. Frank "Champ" Vuckovich, 79, of West Newton, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000. He was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of the late Joseph and Margaret Salopek Vuckovich. He was a retired employee of the former U.S. Steel Corp., Christy Park Works, in McKeesport. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of VFW Post #7812, West Newton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Vukovich; and a grandson. Survivors include his wife, Texie (Hardway) Vuckovich; two stepchildren, Judith Keener of Rivesville, W.Va., and James McClung of LaFallette, Tenn.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six sisters , Margaret Phillips and Catherine Vukovich, both of Pittsburgh, Ann Martinelli of Smithdale, Agnes Scarcella of California, Mary McGuire of Colorado and Frances Vukovich of Michigan; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., West Newton, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Mary R. Cantella, 89, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, in the Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. She was born March 3, 1911, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Dominic and Josephine Salci D'Octavia. Mary had been a housekeeper at the former St. Paul Church Rectory in Greensburg's fifth ward for the Rev. Leo E. Sullivan and the Rev. Henry P. Dinicco. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral and the Women of the Moose, both in Greensburg, and the Italian Anita Garibaldi of Jeannette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel J. Cantella, in 1979; brothers , Nick, Albert, Johnny and Tony; and a sister, Lucia "Betty" Champion. She is survived by her son, Jack R. Cantella; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Cantella, both of Greensburg; a daughter, Charlotte J. Cantella of Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren, Debra Cantella Frye, John Christopher Cantella, Amy Marie Cantella, Heidi Cantella Noel, David Pankowski and Jessica Pankowski Lowther; three great-grandchildren, Sara, Melissa and Jon Frye; two sisters , Rose Broker of Sandusky, Ohio, and Pauline Pallitta of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitation. Relatives are invited to join the family Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, where a blessing service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the St. Clair Cemetery, Hempfield Township. She was born May 21, 1933, in Duquesne, the daughter of Dorothy Dovich Stojakovich and the late Stanley Stojakovich. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph J. Delmaster; and a brother, George Stojakovich. She was a member of St. Mark's Parish/St. Joseph's Worship Site, Port Vue. Survivors include three sons , Steven and wife, Debra Zyvith Delmaster, of Elizabeth, David and wife, Rose Donofrio Delmaster, of Aliquippa and Richard and wife, Karen Czuba Delmaster, of Greensburg; a daughter, Cynthia Langford and husband, Mark, of Olney, Texas ; 10 grandchildren; and two brothers , Nicholas Stojakovich of Syracuse, N.Y., and Stanley Stojakovich of Manassas, Va. Friends were received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at HUNTER-EDMUNDSON-STRIFFLER, McKeesport. Rudolph (Rudy) Gregory, 81, of Elizabeth Township, died Saturday, August 5, 2000 in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born March 12, 1919, he was a son of the late John and Agnes (Kirin) Gregory. He retired from Mesta Machine Company, West Homestead, and was a member of Christ the Light of the World Parish, Duquesne. Surviving are his wife, Catherine (Novosel) Gregory; two daughters , Catherine Bazylak of Elizabeth Twp. and Judy Heckman of South Park; two brothers , Walter P. Gregory of White hall and John Gregory; four grandchildren; also nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters , Helen Steele and Mary Pribicevich, and two brothers , Frank and Louis Gregory. Adelaide "Addie" Waltz Grindel, 79, died Saturday, August 5, 2000, in UPMC Passavant, McCandless. Mrs. Grindel worked at UPMC Passavant as a nurse's aide. She retired in 1989 after 15 years of service. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Pine. Survivors include a daughter, Alice Palermo; three sons , Edward Grindel, James Grindel and Paul Grindel; two sisters ; a brother; and six grandchildren. She was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served at the Pentagon. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Glenshaw. She was the beloved wife of Dominic D. Guardino; mother of Linda L. Guardino of Irwin, Joanne Cricks of Sarver, Donna Jean Kowach of Lawrenceville, Nancy Jean Regan of Lawrenceville, Anna Marie Mayhew of Natrona Heights, Daniel J. Guardino of Sharpsburg and Thomas A. Guardino of Nashville, Tenn.; sister of Mary Lou Colledge of Cheswick, Dorothy Sabo of Cheswick and the late Corrine Oblich, Geraldine Unferdorfer and Harry E. Louis J. Hurbanek, of Upper St. Clair, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, with his family at his side. He was the devoted husband of 48 years to Florence M. (Bruner) Hurbanek. Dear Father of Kathleen M. Bennett of Indianapolis, Ind., Carol A. Carter of Bethel Park and Gary L. Hurbanek of Poolesville, Md. Loving grandfather of four granddaughters, Michelle M., Carolyn A., Stacy A. and Stephanie A. Caring. Brother of Frances Steele, Marilyn Albitz, Albert Hurbanek and James Hurbanek. Loved by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Hurbanek was a retired electrician after 40 years at Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel of Bridgeville. He will also be remembered as a longtime member of the company's bowling team and league treasurer. As a member of the National Model Railroader Association, he was a lifelong collector of model trains. He spent quiet time working on jigsaw or crossword puzzles and collected stamps from an early age. He also will be remembered outdoors flying kites and shooting fireworks at family picnics.
