Sarajane A. Morgan
Sarajane A. Morgan, 60, of RR 1, Dornsife, died Tuesday, October 21, 2003, as the result of a traffic accident at RR 1, Herndon.

Born in Trevorton, January 11, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Franklin and Eva Maire Neihart.

She was an employee of the former Creative Play Things, Herndon, for 15 years, retiring this year. She was a 1960 graduate of the former Trevorton High School. She was a member of Fearnot Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Edmondson.

Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Fayne L. Morgan, at home; two daughters, Kathi S. Morgan of Valley View, and Rebecca A. Leffler of Gratz; three brothers, Clyde Neihart of Trevorton, her twin brother, Glenn Neihart of Shamokin, and Gary Neihart of New Jersey; a grandson; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 25, in the Fearnot Assembly of God Church. Interment was in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.

Orville J. Neidlinger
Orville J. Neidlinger, 80, of Tremont, former borough police chief, died Thursday, October 16, 2003, at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Blackwood, November 29, 1922, he was a son of the late John and Lucy A. Star Neidlinger.

He was an Army Air Corps private first class during World War II, serving with the 56th Fighter Control Squadron. He was in the following battles and campaigns, GO 33 and 40 WD 45, New Guinea and Luzon. He received a Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars and World War II Victory Medal.

He worked as a miner and heavy equipment operator. He was a police officer for 40 years and constable in Tremont Township. He was also employed as a security officer for various establishments.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Minnie Oxenrider; a brother, Gerald.

Surviving are a sister, Lucille Seiger of Zerbe; a stepdaughter, Edith Oxenrider of Minersville.

Graveside services were held Friday, October 31, at Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville, with the Rev. Emlyn Jones officiating. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret N. Nice
Margaret Nora Nice, 74, of Halifax, died on Monday, October 20, 2003, at the Harrisburg Hospital.
Born on October 3, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Anna Potter Koppenhaver, Sr.

She was a retired inspector at the former Johnson Bailey Shoe Co., Millersburg. She was a lifetime member of Salem Lutheran Church, Elizabethville. She was a membership of, O.E.S. Glen Chapter No.425, Lykens; Women of the Moose Chapter No.1083, Millersburg; Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary National Unit; and Farm Women's Group No.12, Fisherville. She attained hero awards for hospitalized veterans, she was donor of the year for 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003.

Surviving are her husband, John L. Nice at home; a daughter, Shirley Erb of Jackson Twp; a son, Charles Nice of Harrisburg; two brothers, Lester Koppenhaver, Jr., of Lenkerville, Kenneth Koppenhaver of Hummelstown; two sisters, Erma Miller of Millersburg, Miriam Lane of Napolian, OH; a grandson; and a great-grandson; nieces and nephews.

Religious services and Women of the Moose services were held at Hoover Funeral Home Inc., Elizabethville, on Saturday, October 25, with the Rev. Benjamin Brown officiating. Order of Eastern Star services were held on Friday, October 24. Interment was in Maple Grove cemetery, Elizabethville. Hoover Funeral Home Inc., Elizabethville, was in charge of arrangements.

Martha I. VanLierde
Martha I. VanLierde, 84, of New Bloomfiled, formerly of Hegins, died Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at the home of her son in Centre Twp., New Bloomfield.
Born March 31, 1919 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Mary Dunzik.

She had worked for Nationwide Insurance Co., the Derry Twp. School District and the Tri-Valley School District. She had attended Eastern Bible College. She was a member of the Fearnot Assembly of God Church, Hegins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil VanLierde, Jr.

Surviving are a son E. Bart VanLierde; and grandchildren, Chad and Jason VanLierde and Samantha Thompson.

Interment will be in the Indiantown Gap National cemetery, at the convenience of the family. David Myers Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.

Carol M. Warfield
Carol M. Warfield, 79, of Lebanon, formerly of Orwin, died Sunday, October 26, 2003, at ManorCare, Lebanon.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley and five children, Nancy, Amy, Michael, Steven and Timothy.

Services will be held on Thursday, October 30, at 12 Noon, from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City. Interment will be in St. Peters cemetery, Orwin. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon. Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City, is in charge of arrangements.

Donald L. Barry
Donald L. Barry, 76, of Elizabethville, died Friday, October 17, 2003, at his home.
Born in Elizabethville on January 17, 1927, he was the son of the late Frank P. and Maude Snyder Barry.

He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Elizabethville; a member of the TRW Pioneers; a Life Member of the Millersburg American Legion No. 326; and a Veteran of the US Army.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis M. Barry of Elizabethville; a nephew, Jeffrey E. Barry; a niece, Hazel B. Barry; great nieces, Angela and Nicole; great nephew, Shawn; and a great-great niece, Lauren.

Services were held on Monday, October 20, at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville. Interment was in Maple Grove cemetery, Elizabethville.

Memorial donations may be made to his church at 143 W. Main Street, Elizabethville, PA 17023. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville, was in charge of arrangements.

Richard A. Beck
Richard A. Beck, 70, of Pine Grove, died Saturday, October 18, 2003, at home.

Born in Pine Grove, August 27, 1933, he was a son of the late Robert and Myrtle Clements Beck. He was a 1951 graduate of Pine Grove High School.

He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, stationed at the submarine base in New London, Conn., with more than a year of sea time. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was an electrician with Electrical Union Local 743, Reading. He helped install the first outside lights at the football field at Pine Grove Area High School.

He was a member of Salem Hetzel's United Church of Christ, Pine Grove, where he was a former council member, former Sunday school treasurer, member/treasurer of Hetzel's Best Years Club and was active in doing electrical work for the church. He also was a member of American Legion Post 374, Pine Grove, and the Rock Fish & Game Club.

He was preceded in death were a brother, Sterling; a great-grandson, Joshua Hiester.

Surviving are his wife, the former Arlene Miller; two daughters, Cheryl Beck of Mahopac, N.Y., and Penny Hindman of Pine Grove; two brothers, Ernest of Pine Grove, and Kenneth of Harrisburg; a sister, Ruth Beck of Pine Grove; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter.

Services were held Tuesday, October 21, at Salem Hetzel's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. William A. Pifer-Foote officiating. Interment was in Hetzel's cemetery, Pine Grove. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Verna I. Bordner
Verna I. Bordner, 84, of Herndon, died Sunday, October 19, 2003, at the Harrisburg Hospital, having previously been a patient at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg.
Born in Red Cross, February 16, 1919, she was a daughter of the late John and Agnes Smith Latsha.

She was employed for 28 years by the former Muskin Shoe Factory at Millersburg, retiring in 1980.

She was a member of Himmels Church in Rebuck and a charter member of the Idella Rebekah Lodge No. 58 of Dornsife.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Bordner, two sisters, Gertie Smeltz and an infant sister; four brothers, Fred, Samuel, William, and an infant brother.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Cloyd A. Bordner of Herndon; two children, Glenn Bordner of Millersburg and Joan Seachrist of Herndon; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 23, in Himmels Church, Rebuck. Viewing will be in the church Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 10-11 a.m. Idella Rebekah Lodge will conduct at the service at 7 p.m. in the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Himmels Church Memorial Fund, Rebuck, PA 17867. The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RR 1, Klingerstown is in charge of arrangements.

Wilbur H. Furman
Wilbur H. 'Whip' Furman, 79, of Highspire, died Monday, October 13, 2003, at his home.
He was born on February 5, 1924 in Hegins.

He was a retired employee of the New Cumberland Army Depot and an Army Veteran of World War II, receiving the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Highspire First Church of God, where he taught Sunday School and served on the Church Council. He also served on the Highspire Borough Council for the past 10 years and was a former Boy Scout Master.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Clark Furman; a son, James H. of Highspire; three brothers, Alfred of Leola, Wallace of Valley View and Forrest of Illinois; a sister, Mildred Ebert of Hegins; two grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and four step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Friday, October 17, in his church. Interment was in the Highspire cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurses Association Hospice, 3315 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111. K.M. Knight Funeral Home, Highspire was in charge of the arrangements.

Sylvia A. Goho
Sylvia A. Shultz Goho, age 75, of Wormleysburg, died Monday, October 13, 2003, in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born March 5, 1928 in Reinerton, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Ester May Shadle Shultz.

She was retired from the U.S. Naval Depot, former Naval Supply Depot, Mechanicsburg and was a member of the Church of God, Wormleysburg.

She was an ardent and dedicated genealogist, who with her husband, Wayne Goho, published their family history dating back to the year 1079 in Europe and America, which was accepted and on file in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Shultz Michael.

Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Wayne Goho; a step-son, Stephen Wayne Goho of Middletown; a brother, Donald Watts of Harrisburg; a sister, Lilly Nilsen of Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nephews; and a niece.

Services were held Thursday, October 16, at Musselman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Lemoyne, with the Rev. Paul R. Albert officiating. Interment was in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.

The Rev. William J. Hower Sr.
The Rev. William J. Hower Sr., 74, of Temple, died Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading.

Born in Frackville, he was a son of the late Geary C. and Hannah P. Fowler Hower. He was a 1946 graduate of Mahanoy Township High School, and a 1958 graduate of United Wesleyan College, Allentown, with a degree in theology.

He was an Army veteran.

He served as pastor of Wesleyan churches in Millville, N.J., Pine Grove, Muir and North Rome, Bradford County, and retired in 1991 after 26 years as pastor of Reading Wesleyan Church.

He was a member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene, Muhlenberg Township, Berks County.

Surviving are his wife, the former Irene K. Olock; a son, William J. Jr. of Reading; two daughters, Bonnie Lee Ray and Rebecca Lynn Kelly, both of Reading; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held Monday, October 20, from Bean Funeral Home, Hampden Heights, Reading. Interment was in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
