Evelyn B. Graeff
Evelyn B. Graeff, 90, of Millersburg, died Tuesday, November 11, 2003, at Susquehanna Lutheran Village.
Born May 18, 1913 in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Budd Beistel and Carrie Arnold Beistel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Graeff, who died on February 8, 1983.
She was a secretary for the Commonwealth of PA, retiring in 1972. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Millersburg and the Women's Auxiliary of the Millersburg American Legion Post No. 326.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Norwood, Budd and Richard Beistel; and two sisters, Emma Deibler and Lois Gordon.
Surviving are a niece, Deanna Bellis of Millersburg, who she helped raise. She was Nanna to Heather Fox-Kauffman and Matt and David Bellis; and a great Nanna to Logen, Hollen, Masen, Hayden, Dylin and Delaney Bellis and Kaitlin Fox.
Graveside services were held Friday, November 14, at Oak Hill cemetery, Millersburg. A memorial service was held on Friday at Grace United Methodist Church Chapel, with Rev. Floyd S. Sollenberger, Jr., officiating. Burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Elaine M. Lettich
Elaine Marie Lettich, 49, of Sacramento, died Sunday, November 16, 2003, at Ashland Regional Medical Center, Ashland.
Born in Pottsville, January 26, 1954, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Miriam Koppenhaver Cirullo.
She was a graduate of Williams Valley High School and Empire Beauty School of Pottsville.
She was employed as a seamstress by Lebo Shirt Factory, Lykens, prior to becoming ill. She was a member of the ACTWU Garment Workers Union; and was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving are her husband of 24 years, Randy R. Lettich of Sacramento; three sons, Kyle G. Mattern of Sacramento, Michael D. Mattern of Spring Glen and Randy R. Lettich of Cressona; ; a daughter, Mary L. Richter of Palo Alto; and five grandchildren.
Religious services will be held Wednesday, November 19, at 11 a.m. at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. William Danis officiating. Viewing will be Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Peter's cemetery, Fearnot.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

James A. Shutt
James A. Shutt, 61, of Tower City, died Friday, November 14, 2003, at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.
Born in Ashland, December 14, 1941, he was a son of the late Charles and Toleda Troutman Shutt. He was a 1959 graduate of Porter Tower High School.
He was vice president of operations at Desert Dry Water Proofing Contractors, Willow Grove.
He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Orwin, Ashlar Lodge 570, F&AM; , Lykens, Harrisburg Consistory, Moose Lodge 1603, Tower City, and Orwin Fire Company.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, the former Cardella M. Adams; two sons, Ted J. and Wes E., both of Orwin; a daughter, Amy J. Grimm of Williamstown; a brother, Robert of Tower City; a sister, Marie Schaeffer of Lykens; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, at St. Peter's cemetery, Orwin. Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City, is in charge of arrangements.
Alma L. Smeltz
Alma Lillian Smeltz, 77 of Elizabethville, died Saturday, November 15, 2003, at the Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Township.
Born January 9, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Gertrude Nelson Hawk.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Elizabethville. She was retired from the former Lebro Shirt Co., Elizabethville.
She was preceded in death by a sister, June Hoffman.
Surviving are her husband Ralph Leroy Smeltz, at home; a brother, Ira Esterline of Camp Hill; a brother-in-law, Robert Hoffman of Millersburg; three nieces, Nancy Tornello of Charlottesville, VA, Anne Fogg of Durham, N.C., and Helen Bryan of Camphill; a nephew, Scott Esterline of Wichita Falls, TX.
Services were held on Monday, November 17, at Hoover Funeral Home Inc., Elizabethville, with the Rev. Joe Yorks officiating. Interment was private in Maple Grove cemetery.

George A. Snyder
George A. Snyder, formerly of Country Meadows of Hershey and Dalmatia, died Monday, November 10, 2003, in the Lebanon Veterans Hospital.
Born May 19, 1920 in Malta, he was a son of the late Albert and Mabel Spotts Snyder.
He was a Veteran of World War II; a retired plasterer; and member of the Cement Masons and Plasterers Union Local No. 592.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Elda M. Peifer Snyder; two daughters, Jane C. Snyder of Harrisburg, and Susan M. Reno of Columbia; two granddaughters, Stella Reno of Lancaster, and Alice Reno of Columbia.
Graveside services were held on Friday, November 14, in Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.

Mary J. Adams
Mary J. Adams, 94, formerly of Williamstown, died Sunday, November 9, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville.
Born at Clarks Valley, February 12, 1909, she was a daughter of the late James and Florence Hatter Adams.
She was a retired seamstress from the former Bestok Garment Factory.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City and its women's' club.
Surviving are a brother, Marlin Adams of Williamstown; three sisters, Maude Morgan of Hegins, Helen Hudsinus and Vera Adams, both of New Jersey; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 13, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City, with the Rev. Linda Bonfiglio officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood cemetery, Tower City. Viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. in the chapel.

Betty Mae Adley
Betty Mae Adley, 65, of Spring Creek Nursing Home, Harrisburg, formerly of Lykens died Wednesday, November 5, 2003, at the nursing home.
She was born in Schuylkill County, a daughter of the late Charles and Iva Neumeister Kukuk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Adley, Jr.
Surviving are a daughter Marie Adley of Lykens, RD; two brothers Jim Kukuk of Ashland and Jack Kukuk of Tower City; a sister Melody Troup of Ashland; a granddaughter.
Services were held on Monday November 10, at the Hoover Funeral Home, Elizabethville. Interment was in Indiantown Gap National cemetery.
Nina Hodgson
Nina "Alice" Hodgson, died Friday, November 7, 2003, at the Tremont Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late George and Nina Campbell Perine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard.
Surviving are a son, Wally, Tremont; two grandchildren.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, is in charge of arrangements.

John D. Griffith, 79, Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg, formerly of Lykens, died Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at Harrisburg Hospital.

Bobbie Lamar Miller, 73, of Valley View, died Friday, November 7, 2003, at Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Valley View, May 13, 1930, he was a son of the late Robert William Miller.
He was a retired coal miner having worked for Summit Anthracite, Good Spring.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Freida Mae Swartzlander; and a brother, Raymond.
Surviving are a son, Robert L. of Hegins; a daughter, Linda Mowery of Valley View; a sister, June Boyer of Valley View; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter.

Mildred A. Schwartz
Mildred A. Schwartz, 96, of Pine Grove, died Thursday, November 6, 2003, at Pottsville Hospital.
Born in Pine Grove, May 9, 1907, she was a daughter of the late George H. and Sarah E. Houtz Mease.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Pine Grove, and Mary E. Moore Chapter 372, Order of the Eastern Star, Pine Grove.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Slater A., who died on August 29, 1963; a son, Donald S.; three sisters, Beulah Behney, Jennie Lehman and Pauline Breininger; three brothers, Ralph, George and Elmer Mease.
Surviving are a son, Richard C. of Reading; a sister, Martha Olt of Lebanon; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Paul E. Zerbe
Paul E. Zerbe, 83, of Pine Grove, died Saturday, November 8, 2003, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
Born in Molleystown, January 10, 1920, he was a son of the late Adam N. and Mabel I. Brensinger Zerbe. He was a graduate of Porter Township High School.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving with the 88th Airborne Squadron. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal and Victory Medal.
He was employed as a miner and worked for 24 years at Alcoa, Cressona.
He was a member of Salem Hetzel's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove area, where he served on its council, Pine Grove American Legion Post 374 and Pine Grove Masonic Lodge 409. He was a former Washington Township supervisor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Verna Ferrebee, who died in 1962; and a brother, Harold, who was killed in World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, the former Luise B. Schaub; four daughters, Brenda M. Pike and Sherry L. Zerbe, both of Lebanon, and Melissa V. Rehrer and Annegret E. Herb, both of Pine Grove; a son, Rodney P. of Pine Grove; a sister, Mae Sharon of Ohio; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
