Marie E. Kocher
Marie E. Kocher, 80, of Elizabethville, died Monday, December 15, 2003, at her home.
Born in Buffalo Township, she was a daughter of the late Samuel F. and Jenny Witmer Reisch.
She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Elizabethville, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, junior choir leader, and the Women's Guild. She was a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Volunteer Home Care.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth K. Kocher.
Surviving are a son, Richard E. of Elizabethville; a daughter, Carol A. Koppenhaver of Enola; a brother, Clarence H. Reisch of Washington, PA; and a sister, Helen Henninger of Elizabethville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were held at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville on Friday, December 19. Interment was in Maple Grove cemetery, Elizabethville.

N. Marie Miller
N. Marie Miller, 89, of Villa Teresa Nursing Home, Millersburg, formerly of Halifax, died Saturday, December 20, 2003, at Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.
Born in Bloomsburg, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Violetta Drake Baum.
She was a secretary for 26 years in the Bureau of Traffic Safety of the PA Department of Transportation. She was a member of Peace UCC in Berrysburg; P.A.R.S.E.O.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas R. Mochamer and Paul Miller; and a daughter, Linda. She was the last survivor of her immediate family.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Myrtle Henninger of Hershey; and nieces and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday, December 23, in the Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg. Interment was in the New Rosemont cemetery, Bloomsburg.

Lillie I. Schaeffer
Lillie I. Schaeffer, 84, of Palmyra, formerly of Pine Grove, died Sunday, December 21, 2003, at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.
Born in Pine Grove, May 14, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Sherman and Mamie Heimbaugh Hummel.
She was a seamstress at the former Summit Station Manufacturing, Pine Grove.
She was a member of Salem Hetzel's United Church of Christ, Pine Grove, and International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William H., who died on October 9, 1990; two brothers, Norman and Claude Hummel.
Surviving are a daughter, Dawn Paioletti of Palmyra; two sisters, Florence Reiner of Bernville, and Betty Daubert of Pine Grove; two brothers, Ralph Hummel of Friedensburg, and Carl Hummel of Pine Grove.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 27, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove. The Rev. Debra Ernst will officiate. Interment will be in Hetzel's cemetery, Pine Grove.

Michael J. Scherbik
Michael J. Scherbik, 40, of Dalmatia, died Tuesday December 9, 2003, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Trenton, NJ, he has resided the past nine years in Dalmatia. He was formerly employed with M.I. Home Products in Elizabethville.
He was a son of Mary Scherbik of Hamilton, NJ and the late Elmer Scherbik, He In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Anna Scherbik Zadansky.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Tammy Miller Scherbik; two sisters, Anna Marie Latham and Cathy Scherbik, both of Hamilton, NJ; two brothers, Andrew and Robert Scherbik, both of Hamilton, NJ; a step-son, Jason Yeager, of Dalmatia; and nephews.
A time of visitation was held on Monday, December 22, at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc. in Millersburg.

Evelyn R. Snyder
Evelyn R. Snyder, 63, of Hollidaysburg RR 4, died Thursday, December 18, 2003 at UPMC Montfiore Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born in Williamstown, October 19, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Albert "Sport" and Iva E. Miller Lewis.
She was of the Protestant faith. She retired in 1995 as an office worker from Credit Bureau Services, Altoona; was a 1958 graduate of Williamstown High School.
Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Freddie R. Snyder; two daughters, Barbara L. Bostic of Linglestown and Lianne M. of Hollidaysburg; a brother, Albert "Buddy" Lewis of Middlesex, NJ; and a granddaughter, Danielle.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 23, at Grace United Methodist Church, Medical Road, Millersburg, with the Rev. Floyd S. Sollenberger, Jr. officiating. Interment was at Fort Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville.

Walter T. Strohecker
Walter T. Strohecker, 86, of Herndon, died Thursday, December 18, 2003, at home.
Born in Pillow, April 27, 1917, he was a son of the late Daniel and Carrie Schlegel Strohecker.
He retired as a grinder from Brubaker Tool Co. Millersburg, and as a farmer.
He was a member of David United Church of Christ, Hebe.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Derk.
Surviving are his wife, Marion A. Straub Strohecker; a son, Delroy Strohecker of Herndon; a daughter, Doris Wise of Halifax; four sisters, Mary Strohecker of Millersburg, Helen Shelly of Mifflinburg, Mae Wolfgang of RD Elizabethville, and Martha Bohner of RD Herndon; and two grandchildren.
Religious services were held Monday, December 22, at James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, with the Rev. Bon Sherfy officiating. Interment was in David's Church cemetery, Hebe.

Roseann M. Taylor
Roseann M. Taylor, age 68, of Wiconisco, died Saturday, December 20, 2003, at the Harrisburg Hospital.
She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Lykens.
She was the daughter of the late Hyman and Annamarie Piano Fetterhoff.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Taylor, Jr.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann Marie Fisher of Lykens; two brothers, Robert Fetterhoff of Wiconisco, and James Fetterhoff of Lykens; three sisters, Marylou Schoffstall, Margaret Schoffstall, both of Wiconisco and Donna Updegrove of Orwin; and two grandchildren, James Schoffstall and Lori Fisher.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 23, at the John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, with Father Tri Luong officiating. Interment was in Calvary United Methodist cemetery, Wiconisco. John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, was in charge of arrangements.
Mark A. Coleman
Mark Austin "Mac" Coleman, 91, of Gratz, died Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at his home.
Born in Lykens Twp., October 13, 1912, he was a son of the late Austin and Buella Klinger Coleman.
He was a Maintenance Foreman at the Indiantown Gap Military Reservation, R.D. Annville, Pa until retiring. He was also a carpenter and a farmer.
He was a member of Simeons United Lutheran Church of Gratz.
He was a Life Member of the Gratz Fire Company; a member of the Erdman Sportman's Assoc., a former member of the Lykens Twp. Grange; and a former Lykens Twp. Judge of Elections, serving over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by a brother Charles J. Coleman and a sister Ruth Lebo.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years Evelyn Meadows Coleman; a son Mark E. Coleman of Gratz; a daughter Linda D. Atwell of Arlington, V.A.; a brother Robert Coleman of Belboa, N.Y.; three sisters Hilda Fleegal of Harrisburg, Sarah Beck of Carlisle, and Ethel Gurtz of Adelphia, Md.; two grandsons; and by two great-granddaughters.
Services were held Friday, December 12, at Simeons United Lutheran Church, Gratz, with the Rev. Barry Ridge officiating. Interment was in Union cemetery, Gratz.

Dennis A. Dietrich
Dennis A. Dietrich, 59, of Williamstown, died Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at his home.
Born in Pottsville, May 9, 1944, he was a son of the late Joseph and Alberta Smith Dietrich.
He was a graduate of the former Williamstown High School. He was a maintenance technician with Tyco, Lickdale. He was a member of St. James Church, Carsonville; and Liberty Hose Co. No.1, Williamstown.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Carole A. Peifer Dietrich; a daughter, Paula A.; three sons, Wade A., Andrew D. ad Joseph M., all at home; a sister, Marsha 'Pat' Krise of Pine Grove; two brothers, his twin Robert, and Charles, both of Williamstown; nieces and nephews.
Services were held Saturday, December 13, from his church, with the Rev. Ray Hackett officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Dimon Funeral Home, Tower City, was in charge of arrangements.
Robert A. Dinger
Robert A. Dinger, 75, of Muir, died Monday, December 8, 2003, in Tower City.
Born in Tower City R.D., May 17, 1928, he was a son of the late Ralph and Pauline Wolfgang Dinger.
He was a World War II Army Veteran and was a retired coal miner.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clair and Leon Dinger.
Surviving are two sisters, Doris L. Kintzer of Harrisburg and Nancy M. Fetterhoff of Tower City; a brother, Lamar L. of Wilkes-Barre; and nieces and nephews.
Services were held Friday, December 12, in the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City.

Josephine P. Drum
Josephine P. Drum, 88, formerly of Tower City and Lykens, died Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Muir, May 17, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Susan Mease Drum.
She was of the Lutheran Faith.
She was preceded in death by six sisters, Minnie Murray, Charlotte Linninger, Helen Matter, Vesta Colins, Elsie, Beulah and Eva Drum; and a brother, William. Surviving are a nephew and a niece.
Services were private. Interment was in the Fairview cemetery, Muir.

Marie R. Freeman
Marie Ruth Freeman, 77, of Lancaster, died Monday, December 8, 2003, at the Glen of Willow Valley.
Born in Valley View, November 12, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Bertha Schwalm Schlegel. She was a 1942 graduate of the former Hegins High School.
She worked at the Library of Congress, Washington, DC, during World War II. She later worked for National Geographic Magazine and the Prince George County (MD) Health Department.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Theodore Freeman; a son, Thomas of Davidsonville, MD; two daughters, Peggy Jean Dawson of Berkley Springs, WV, and Ann Fouse Novick of Chandler, AZ; a brother, Mark Schlegel of Valley View; a sister, Alma Howard of Wilmington, DE.; and six grandchildren.
The Cremation Society of Pennsylvania is handling arrangements.
