George Mehalic
Seger, Derry Township

George Mehalic, 85, of Seger, Derry Township, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, in the Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born April 23, 1915, in Bradenville, a son of the late John and Mary Blaschak Mehalic. He was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Church in Bradenville. He was a retired United Mine Worker from the Helen Mine in Homer City. He was also a member of the Kingston Veterans and Sportsmen's Club, the Derry Rod and Gun Club, the American Greek Beneficial Society, Twin Maples Hunt Club and the Millwood Sportsmen's Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Yuscanitch Mehalic; an infant son; a son, George A. Mehalic; five brothers , John, Steve, Pete, Mike and George Mehalic; and four sisters , Eleanor Bauer, Anna Gulas, Mary Hatala and Helen Mehalic. He is survived by three sons , John "Jack" Mehalic and his wife, Mary, of Latrobe RD2, Joseph Mehalic and his wife, Betty, of Derry RD2 and Thomas Mehalic and his wife, Dolores, of Marguerite; three daughters , Kathleen Bergman and her husband, James, of Ravenna, Ohio, Mary Pavlik and her husband, William, of Blairsville RD3 (Brenizer) and Eleanor Yakel and her husband, David, of Manassas, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Mehalic of Riverview, Fla.; two sisters , Peggy M. Hohn Wayda of Latrobe and Catherine Yates and her husband, Donald, of East Northport, N.Y.; 25 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Parastas service will be held Monday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Panachida service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Byzantine Church, Bradenville. Interment will follow in St. Mary Byzantine Church Cemetery.

Robert P. Miller
Cleveland, Ga.

Robert P. Miller, 64, of Cleveland, Ga., died Friday, July 14, 2000, of complications of leukemia while vacationing in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mr. Miller was born Sept. 19, 1935, in Pittsburgh. He worked for 30 years at Southern Bell in various positions, and was a member of the team that developed the picture phone. Mr. Miller then retired to the Cleveland, Ga., area, where he started his own construction company. Prior to moving to Cleveland, he lived in Stuart, Fla., from 1970 to 1984, where he served as a city commissioner, vice-mayor and mayor. He was also chairman of the Tri-County Rehabilitation Center and chairman of the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Commission. Mr. Miller was also a Past Master of Masonic Lodge 759, Pleasant Hills, and a member of the Civitans of Stuart, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Norma J. Miller of Cleveland, Ga.; a son, Robert L. Miller of Cleveland, Ga.; daughters - and sons -in-law, Dr. Connie L. and N. Mark Keck, of Cleveland, Ga., and Lisa Heller, L.L.D. and Robert J. Heller, L.L.D., of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Peter T. Keck and Amanda Keck of Cleveland, Ga., Seth D. Heller and Benjamin C. Heller of Atlanta, Ga.; and a brother, Joseph C. Miller of Greenville/Stuart's Draft, Va., and his wife and children. A celebration of his life will take place Saturday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m. in the Mossy Creek United Methodist Church, Cleveland, Ga., with the Rev. Waldon McNeal and the Rev. Thad Rudd co-officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or the Straub Hospital of Honolulu, Hawaii. Antionette Peternell Mozina
Plum

Antoinette Peternell Mozina died Friday August 4, 2000. Wife of the late Frank V. Mozina for 68 years. Dear mother of Grace Cardinal of Plum and Frank Mozina Jr. of Bedford, Texas . Survivors include 6 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Friends may be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the GENE VAN HORNE FUNERAL HOME, Beatty Road and Route 48 North, Monroeville. Mass of Christian Burial will at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Plum.

Gust Nassis
East Pittsburgh

Gust Nassis, 63, of East Pittsburgh, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000. He was a son of the late Elias and Alexandra (Panopoulos) Nassis. Beloved brother of Agnes Vesly, Cleo Ziegler, Olga Nassis, James Nassis and the late Peter Nassis. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the ALFIERI FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 Marguerite Ave., Wilmerding, where a blessing service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Edith Olszewski
Blawnox

Edith Olszewski, 74, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, in UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh. Born March 26, 1926, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa Fabian Mazzie. Mrs. Olszewski worked as a secretary for St. Edward Roman Catholic Church in Blawnox for 10 years until her retirement in 1988. Survivors include her husband, Louis A. Olszewski; two daughters , Lou Ann Szelong of Hampton and Mary T. Olszweski; a son, Mark T. Olszewski of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; two sisters , Carol Beining of O'Hara and Jean Hohman of Blawnox; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Sam Astorino; and a sister, Marie Frole. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday in THOMAS M. SMITH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 930 Center Ave., Blawnox, where prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Christian Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. in St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, Blawnox. Theodore M. Pishko
Feasterville

Theodore M. Pishko, 72, of Feasterville, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at the White Billet Nursing Home in Hatboro. He was born in Slickville to the late Michael and Pauline Koczera Pishko. Ted was a resident of the Olney section of Philadelphia for 40 years before moving to Feasterville last year. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Mr. Pishko had retired after 35 years as an electronics service manager with Philips Electronics. Ted enjoyed music, particularly the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. He had been a communicant of St. Ambrose Parish in Philadelphia before becoming a member of the Assumption BVM Parish in Feasterville. Beloved husband of Ruth Louise Long Pishko for 48 years. Devoted Father of Cathy and her husband, John Metzger, of Yardley, Timothy Pishko of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Andrea and her husband, Ken Ambs, of Pennington, N.J. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Allyssa and Natasha Metzger. Relatives and friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the LAMB FUNERAL HOME, 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, and Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Assumption BVM Church, Bristol and Meadowbrook roads, Feasterville, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer Mass cards or donations to the Assumption BVM Building Fund, 1900 Meadowbrook Road, Feasterville, PA 19053.

Richard E. Puza
Greensburg

Richard E. Puza, 57, of Greensburg, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born July 29, 1943, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Joseph and Laura Rozewska Puza. He had retired in 1999 as a correction counselor for S.C.I. in Greensburg, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg, the South Greensburg Hunt Club, and the Fort Allen Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Robertson) Puza; two daughters , Mrs. Christian (Tracy) Petersen of Greensburg and Mrs. Michael (Bonnie) Bialecki of Latrobe; a son, Rick Puza of Greensburg; five grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ed (Nancy) Stabryla of Pittsburgh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Puza. Friends will be received at the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Larry R. Kiniry as celebrant. Interment in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg.

Helen Pyrick, 80, died on Friday, August 4, 2000. Beloved wife of the late William; mother of Nancy Harris; sister of Mary Harvat, Nick and Mike Roman; preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Todor Roman; brothers Raymond, Thomas, and Harry Roman, Robert and John Manton. Friends will be received SUNDAY ONLY from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in SOXMAN FUNERAL HOMES, LTD., 7450 Saltsburg Road, Penn Hills, where services will be held Monday at noon. Gerry M. (Geraldine) Rodgers, 67, of Mt. Lebanon, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 1, 2000. She was born January 21, 1933 in Brookline, a daughter of Helen and the late Joseph Gutowski. Beloved wife of George Thomas Rodgers; mother of Mark, Chrissy, Amy, Molly, Colette and Arthur; loving grandmother of nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Gutowski. She is survived by sisters , Chris Walton, Flo Lang and brother, Ralph Gutowski. Audrey S. Speicher, 68, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at her home in McCandless. Born July 16, 1932, in McCandless, she was the daughter of the late Harold S. and Mildred F. Early Sarver. Mrs. Speicher was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Highland. She was Past Matron of the Robert C. Clarke Chapter 429 of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Norwood Herrington Chapter 356 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband, Edwin W. Speicher; a son, Warner K. Speicher; three daughters , Lynne Speicher, Laurie Vogt and Lisa O'Donnell; and a sister, Phyllis Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold S. Sarver Jr.; and a sister, Beverly Szopiak. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday in H.P. BRANDT FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Perry Highway, Ross.
