Leah M. Alvord
Leah M. Alvord, 86, of Williamstown, died Tuesday, December 23, 2003, in Williamstown.

Born in Williamstown on July 7, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Leah Leininger.

She was a member of the Four Square Gospel Church, Muir, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles F., who died in 1971.

Surviving are her caregivers, Wendell and Martha Altland and family of Williamstown; and nieces and nephews.

Services were private, with Rev. Keith Whitmore officiating. Interment was in the Calvary cemetery, Wiconisco.

Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., was in charge of arrangements.

Ruth E. Barge
Ruth E. Barge, 91, of Susquehanna Lutheran Village, formerly of Millersburg, died Monday, December 22, 2003, at the village.

Born in Millersburg, she was a daughter of the late William and Ada Peters Meck.

She retired from the former Muskin Shoe factory in Millersburg. She was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church in Millersburg, since 1935.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence F. Barge, Sr.

Surviving are a son, Clarence F. Barge, Jr., of Millersburg; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.

Services were held on Friday December 26 at the Hoover Funeral Home, Millersburg. Interment was in Salem Lutheran cemetery, Killinger.

Memorial contributions may be made to Susquehanna Lutheran Village, 990 Medical Road, Millersburg, PA 17061. Hoover Funeral Home, Millersburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas O. Enders
Thomas O. Enders, 79, of Halifax, died on Saturday, December 27, 2003, at his home.

Born on July 22, 1924 in Jackson Twp., he was a son of the late Thomas F. and Jennie M. Enders.

He retired from the former Halls Motor Freight, Mechanicsburg and farming and was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Halifax.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and Jeffrey; three brothers, Claude, Samuel and James; two sisters, Esther Shoop and Mary Enders; and a great-granddaughter, Alexis Mauser.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Jean M. Hoffman Enders, at home; three sons, Dennis G. Hoffman of Berrysburg, Galen E. Enders of Halifax and Robert A. Enders of Halifax; four daughters, Linda S. Farner of Halifax, Polly A. Gross of Halifax, Pamela I. Dorman of Loyalton and Cindy M. Enders of Harrisburg; two sisters, Susan Hampton and Ruth Baker, both of Halifax; 15 grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Spring Grove cemetery "Fetterhoffs", Halifax, at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to his church, 3 Church Road, Halifax, PA 17032 or Visiting Nurse Assoc. Hospice, 3315 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville, was in charge of arrangements.

Marie H. Hoke
Marie H. Hoke, 54, of Donaldson died Monday, December 22, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville.

Born in Donaldson January 7, 1949, she was a daughter of the late James E. and Pearl I. Kroh Hoke.

She was a member of Zion's Lutheran Church, Donaldson.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Freeman who died September 17, 2003.

Surviving are two brothers, Mark Hoke of Fredericksburg, and Edward Hoke of Lincoln; a sister, Janice Gately of Primrose; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Friday, December 26, from the Minnig-Berger Funeral Home, Tremont, with the Rev. Mary Lou Eckels officiating. Interment was in the Donaldson Community cemetery, Donaldson. Minnig-Berger Funeral Home, Tremont, was in charge of arrangements.

Woodrow A. Kauffman
Woodrow A. Kauffman, 85, of Leck Kill, died Friday, December 26, 2003, at home.

Born in Dornsife, June 15, 1918, he was a son of the late Robert E. and Maude S. Hoch Kauffman.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He retired from Line Mountain School District in 1983, and was also a farmer.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Leck Kill, where he was a former secretary of church council, Mahantongo Fire Company, Pitman, Herndon Senior Action Center, Mahantongo Senior Citizens, Himmel's Lutheran Church, Rebuck, where he was former treasurer of church council.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Earl.

Surviving are his wife, the former Pearl M. Schreffler of Manor Care, Sunbury; a son, Luke H. of Leck Kill; three daughters, Barbara L. Yerger of Mechanicsburg, Karen S. Kauffman of Baltimore, and Sharon L. Kugler of Glenmore; three sisters, Violet Paul of Leck Kill, Lorene Reiner of Lavelle, and Gloria Gemberling of Copperopolis, Calif.; two grandsons; nieces and nephews.

Services were held Tuesday, December 30, at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Michael Ware officiating. Interment was in St. John's Lutheran cemetery, Leck Kill. Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RR1 Klingerstown, was in charge of arrangements.

Leon E. Kocher
Leon E. Kocher, 91, of Messiah Village, formerly of Millersburg, died Tuesday, December 23, 2003, at Messiah Village.

Born in Mifflin Twp., he was a son of the late Frederick and Carrie Shoop Kocher. Leon was the last of twelve children.

He was the retired owner of Kocher Coal Co. and Chairman of the Board of Kocher Enterprises, Inc. He also had owned Kocher Cattle Farms and former co-owner of Susquehanna Quarries.

He was Director Emeritus of Community Banks; formerly on the Board of Trustess of Messiah College; former board member, Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent and choir member of Peace UCC in Berrysburg; one of the founders of Central Susquehanna Valley Christian Businessman's Committee; former member of American Cabinet Men's for Missions International; former member of the board of United Church of Christ Home in Annville; former Millersburg Boro councilman; former board member of the Herndon Campground; and former member of Millersburg Lions Club.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Margaret M. Hoke Kocher; two sons, Frederick of Elizabethville and Ben of Millersburg; grandson, Christopher of Elizabethville; granddaughter, Rebecca and grandson, Matthew both of Millersburg; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held on Saturday December 27, at Peace UCC in Berrysburg. Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery, Millersburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church 2nd & Chestnut Streets, Berrysburg, 17005 or to Herndon Campground, Grove Road, Herndon, PA 17830 or to Messiah College, One College Avenue, Grantham, PA 17027.

Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg was in charge of arrangements.

Ina L. McNalis
Ina L. McNalis, 69, of Williamstown, died Tuesday, December 23, 2003, at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Lower Paxton Twp.

Born in Lykens on November 8, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Gurney and Josephine Kolva Knorr.

She was retired from the Finance Dept. at Ft. Indiantown Gap; was a graduate of the former Lykens High School; and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Williamstown.

Surviving are her husband, Robert C., to whom she was married 50 years; two daughters, Theresa M. Miller of Leck Kill, and Patty A. Ney of Williamstown; a son, Michael D., of Pine Grove; a sister, Irene Alvord of Lykens; two step-brothers, Lester Enterline of Camp Hill and Russell Enterline of Halifax; two step-sisters, Carol Mattern of Elizabethville and Marlene Weist of Lykens; five grandchildren, Brandon and Bridget Miller, Angie and Amy Ney and Mandy McNalis.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, December 27, from her church, with Rev. Tri Luong as celebrant. Interment was in the Parish cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Williamstown EMS, P.O. Box 74, Williamstown, PA 17098. Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., was in charge of arrangements.

Martha E. Mucher
Martha E. Mucher, 89, formerly of Lemoyne and more recently of Bethany Village, died Friday, December 26, 2003, at the Holy Spirit Hospital.
Born in Lykens she was a daughter of Vernon G. and Emma Maurer Mitchell.

She retired from the Pennsylvania State Department of Welfare. She was a member of the PA Association of Retired State Employees; the National AARP; Lemoyne Senior Citizens; the Lemoyne Civic Club; Calvary United Methodist Church, Lemoyne and its JOY Sunday School Class; and the Esther Circle of United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Allen Mucher and her husband, Edgar F. Mucher.

Surviving are two nephews, Lt. Col. Gilbert H. Mitchell of Camp Hill and the Rev. Robert Mitchell of Oley, PA; two nieces, Marilyn M. Reedinger of Lykens and Nancy Mitchell of New Bern, NC; and several grand nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2004 at 10 a.m. in the Community Room at Bethany Village. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. A gathering will be held immediately following the service in the Community Room.

Memorials may be made to her church at 700 Market Street, Lemoyne, PA 17043, or to the Bethany Village Care Assurance Fund, 425 Wesley Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.

Musselman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Lemoyne, is handling arrangements.

Mark R. Noel, Jr.
Mark R. Noel, Jr., 63, of Cheyenne, WY, formerly of Williamstown, died Monday, December 22, 2003.

He was the son of the late Mark R. Noel, and Mary F. Hall Noel.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia McCormic Noel and daughter, Kathy Noel Harrison of California.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family in Cheyenne, WY.

He was a graduate of Williamstown Catholic High, worked for Sun Micro Systems and traveled extensively in the Middle East, China, India and Europe.

Morris L. Neumeister
Morris L. Neumeister, 95, of Mohrsville, formerly of Tower City, died Friday, December 26, 2003, evening at Manor Care, Sinking Springs.

He was retired from J. Ray Patterson, Chester, PA, he was of the Protestant Faith, a member of the United Engineer Union and Loyal Order of Moose No. 1603, Tower City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Sara Minnich in 1960.

Surviving are two daughters, Betty J. Showers of W. Reading, Barbara A. McCray of Mohrsville; two grandchildren, Donald Showers and Kimberly Seyler and 2 great-grandchildren, Sara and Abby Showers.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, December 30, from Greenwood cemetery. Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City, was in charge of arrangements.

Dennis Phillips
Dennis Phillips, 64, of RR 1, Herndon, died Friday, December 26, 2003, at Loving Care Nursing Center, Selinsgrove.

Born in Klingerstown, July 25, 1939, he was a son of Jean K. Morgan Phillips of Elizabethville, and the late Lee W. Phillips.

He was a retired truck driver and landscaper, having operated Phillips Landscaping in the Elizabethville area. He was a 1957 graduate of Upper Dauphin High School.

Surviving are his mother, Jean K. Morgan Phillips of Elizabethville; two sons, Shane and Shawn Phillips, both of Elizabethville; two brothers, Alan C. Phillips of Minneapolis, MN and Roger L. Phillips of Elizabethville; and a nephew, Nathan Phillips.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, at the Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RR 1, Klingerstown. Viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, in the funeral home. Interment will be in the St. Michael's Lutheran cemetery at Klingerstown.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3211 N. Front Street, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, RR 1, Klingerstown, is in charge of arrangements.

John E. Seiger
John E. Seiger, 60, of Mifflin Street, Pine Grove, died Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

Born in Pottsville, March 4, 1943, he was a son of the late John M. and Amy Rattigan Seiger.

He was employed by Local Union 461, working construction.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove, Dixie Run Hunting Camp, Morris, Swatara Archers, a social member of North End Fire Company, former ambulance attendant and driver for Pine Grove Ambulance Association for 20 years, and member of the former Pine Grove Area Crime Watch.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the former Barbara Donton; two sons, Jon M. and Scott C., both of the Pine Grove area; a grandson. 
Services were held Monday, December 29, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Frederick I. Fisher officiating. Interment was at the convenience of the family in Jacob's Lutheran cemetery, Pine Grove.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 202, Harrisburg. PA, 17110, or to the American Health Association, Bldg. A. Suite 10, 25 Stevens Lane, West Lawn, PA, 19609.
