Margaret E. Batdorf
Margaret E. Batdorf, 96, of the Colonial Pines Golden Age Home, Harrisburg, formerly of Williamstown, died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at the home.
Born August 14, 1907 in Williamstown, she was a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Mary A. Tucker Warlow.
She was a member of the Williamstown United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin L. Batdorf.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Jane Boyer of Mechanicsburg; a son, George J. Batdorf of Harrisburg; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 17, at the Methodist cemetery, Williamstown with the Rev. Elizabeth Whitehead officiating.

Frances M. Cummings
Frances Mae Cummings, 79, of Millersburg and a resident at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, died Friday, March 5, 2004, at the Village.
Born March 26, 1924 in Upper Paxton Twp., she was a daughter of the late Howard A. and Katharine Lehman Cummings.
She was Valedictorian of her 1941 graduating class at Millersburg High School. After graduating from the Central Pennsylvania Business College, she worked for the Evangelical Press in Harrisburg. She retired in 1983 from the Millersburg Area School District, where she was secretary to the Superintendent and also the School Board.
Frances was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the choir and the bell choir and served as Sunday School pianist and secretary. She also belonged to the Millersburg and Upper Paxton Twp. Historical Society, the Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art and the Millersburg Ferryboat Association. She was a life member of Pennsylvania Assoc. of School Retirees.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard "Bud" Cummings; a sister, Winifred Harris and a nephew H. Lee Cummings.
Surviving are two nephews, Michael Cummings of Mt. Joy and James Cummings of Elizabethtown; a niece, Kate Clark of Orlando, FL; several great-nieces and nephews and a number of cousins including Mary Lou Sweigard of Millersburg, who helped with her care.
Services were held Thursday, March 11, at her church, Millersburg. Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery, Millersburg.

Loretta M. Howell
Loretta M. Howell, 76, formerly of Schuylkill Haven and Pine Grove area, died Friday, March 5, 2004, at Charles Cole Hospital, Coudersport.
Born in Cressona, August 29, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Ester Starch Spittler.
She retired from Blue Mountain School District as a cook.
She was of the Protestant faith and a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cressona.
She was preceded in death was her husband, Edwin G., on June 2, 2002.
Surviving are two sons, Edwin G. Jr. of Schuylkill Haven, and Allen R. of Cressona; a daughter, Susan P. Heller of Coudersport; two sisters, Jean Geary of Schuylkill Haven, and Nancy Nemaugh of Illinois; two brothers, Dick Spittler of Schuylkill Haven, and David Spittler of Florida; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 9, from Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Cressona, with the Rev. Howard Souder officiating. Interment was in Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville. Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Cressona, was in charge of arrangements.
N. June Keiter
N. June Keiter, 81, of Williamstown, died Sunday, March 7, 2004, at home.
She was a daughter of the late George A. and Maud S. Adams White.
She was a graduate of the former Williamstown High School; a member of the High School Alumni Association; Immanuel Lutheran Church; Williamstown Senior Citizens; American Legion Post No. 239 Auxiliary; Williamstown-Williams Twp. Historical Society; member and past president of the Wiconisco Golden Age Club and member and past president of the former Women's Republican Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold F. Keiter; and a daughter, Linda Lou Keiter.
Surviving are her best friend, "Buddy" and many other friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 12, at the John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, with the Rev. Marleen E. Griffith-Stull officiating. Interment was in Methodist cemetery.

Mamie Irene Koppenhaver, 88, of Schuylkill Haven, formerly of Donaldson, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Schuylkill Haven.
Born in Hegins Twp., June 10, 1915, she was a daughter of the late George and Beulah Bressler Noll.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Koppenhaver, who died in 1992; and a sister.
Surviving are a son, Robert Koppenhaver of Pottsville; three sisters; and four brothers.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, at 10 a.m. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
Lillian A. Kramer
Lillian A. Kramer, 92 of Millersburg, formerly of Lykens, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, in the Susquehanna Lutheran Village.
Born on June 27, 1911 in Washington Twp, Dauphin County, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Carrie Hoover Crabb.
She retired from sales with the former Woolworth Dept. Store, Harrisburg. She was a member of St. Peter's U. C. C., Lykens.
She was preceded in death by a son, George A. Kramer; a daughter, Georgina L. Foster; two brothers, Russell and Nevin Crabb; and a sister, Alma Crabb.
Surviving are a brother, Lamar Crabb of Harrisburg; a sister, LaRue Smeltz of Mechanicsburg; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Hoover Funeral Home Inc., Elizabethville, on Monday, March 13. Interment was in St. Peter's U. C. C. "Hoffman's" cemetery, Lykens. Hoover Funeral Home Inc., Elizabethville, was in charge of arrangements.
James R. Lark
James R. Lark
James R. Lark, 51, of Elizabethville, died on Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at his residence.
Born on July 21, 1952, he was a son of the late Norman and Ellen H. Hepner Lark who survives him, at the same residence.
He worked in the past for Metal Industries, Millersburg.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Ronald N. Lark of Elizabethville and David E. Lark of Lenkerville; two sisters Amy Miller of Hegins and Betty M. Kroh of Mount Pocono; four nieces and three nephews; three great-nieces and three great-nephews.
Services were held at Hoover Funeral Home, Inc., Elizabethville on Saturday, March 13, with the Rev. Benjamin Brown officiating. Interment was in St. John's cemetery, Berrysburg.

Edward D. Paumer, Sr., 83, of Halifax, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at his home.
Born August 27, 1920 in McAdoo, he was a son of the late Lewis and Nellie Ushinsky Paumer.
He was a retired Conductor for Conrail. He was a 50 year member of United Transportation Union; was an Army Veteran of World War II; member of American Legion Post 340; life member of VFW Post 255, where he was a Past Commander.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Savage Paumer.
Surviving are his children, Lidia J. Strohecker, Peggy I. Paumer and Edward D. Paumer, Jr., all of Halifax, Linda M. DeHoniesto of VA and Gloria J. Strohecker of Halifax; two sisters, Grace Scott of Wormleysburg and Claire Shiprak of Harrisburg; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside service with military honors by American Legion Post 340 and VFW Post 255, were held on Saturday, March 6, at 11 a.m., in Long's cemetery, Halifax, with Rev. George W. Barto III officiating.

Kenneth M. Schade
Kenneth M. Schade, 89, of Boothwyn, formerly of Fearnot, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at the Willmington Hospital, Wilmington, Delaware.
Born in Fearnot, August 9, 1914, he was a son of the late William and Emma Troutman Schade.
He was a retired local cola miner. He was a former member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church, Fearnot.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Iva I. Nee Underkoffler Schade in 1999; and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are a son, Woodrow Schade of Boothwyn; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, March 17, at the Miller-Berger Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Bill Danis officiating. Interment will be in the St. Peter's United Methodist cemetery, Fearnot. The Miller-Berger Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.
Carol A. Schaeffer
Carol A. Schaeffer, 58, of Pine Grove, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, in Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading.
Born in Pottsville, June 24, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Willis C. and Ruth Ann Aungst Fidler. She was a 1963 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School.
She was a member of Living Waters Chapel, Lebanon, past president of the Pine Grove Women's Club, secretary of the Schuylkill County Rural Letter Carriers, past matron in 1981-82 of the Mary E. Moore Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 372, and the mother adviser of the former Swatara Assembly No. 2 Order of the Rainbow Girls.
Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Donald "Gus"; two daughters, Renee Hughes of Lake Wynonah, and Donna Raudabaugh of Harrisburg; a son, Timothy, Jonestown; five grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, March 15, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. D. Dean Cover officiating. Interment was in Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville.

Flora E. Schminky
Flora E. Artz Schminky, 93, of Hollywood, Fl, formerly of Hegins and Harrisburg, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Memorial Hospital, Hollywood, FL.
Born in Hegins, July 11, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Clara King Artz. She was a graduate of the Allentown School of Nursing, and a retired nurse.
She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Schminky, who died in 1984; two brothers, Mark and Clair Artz; and a sister, Martha Maurer.
Surviving are two daughters, Joan Henry of Hollywood, FL, and Janet Thompson of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Religious services will be held on Friday, March 19, at Friedens Lutheran Church, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Warren Egebo officiating.
