John L. Sultzbaugh
John L. “Johnny” Sultzbaugh, 80, formerly of Lykens, died Wednesday, May 19, at the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown.
Born in Elizabethville, February 20, 1924, he was a son of the late Earl. L. and Sally Rachel Yerges Sultzbaugh. He was a graduate of the former Elizabethville High School and was an Army veteran of World War II.
He had retired as an insurance agent from the Prudential Insurance Co.
He was a member and Past Master of Ashlar Lodge No. 570 F&AM; the Upper Dauphin Shrine Club; and served on the Upper Dauphin School Board for 14 and a-half years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Sass Sultzbaugh; and a sister, Anna Mae Sultzbaugh.
Surviving are a son, John S. Sultzbaugh of Elizabethville; a daughter, Suzanne S. Smeltz of Lykens; two sisters, Ruth Novinger and Joan Feidt, both of Millersburg; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Calvary United Methodist Cemetery, Wiconisco.

Randy L. Wetzel
Randy L. Wetzel, 51, of Elizabethville, died on Friday, May 21, at his residence.
Born in Sacramento, November 15, 1952, he was a son of Donald L. and Mabel G. Klinger Wetzel of Wiconisco.
He worked for 27 years as a machinist for Reiff and Nestor, Lykens. He was a member of Faith Evangelical Congregational Church, Wiconisco.
Surviving in addition to his parents are, his wife, Debra A. Kovak Wetzel; a brother, Rick Wetzel of Lykens; a sister, Ellen Tschopp of Wiconisco; nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Tuesday, May 25, at Faith E.C. Church 543 Center St., Wiconisco. Interment was in Calvary U.M. Cemetery, Wiconisco.

Violet E. Bressler
Violet E. Burger Bressler, 90, of Susquehanna Township, died Sunday, May 9, 2004, in the Villa Teresa Nursing Home.
Born in Lykens on October 18, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Park and Edna Thomas Burger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Jonathan Bressler on December 23, 1996.
Surviving are two sons, Albert G. Bressler of Harrisburg and Neal R. Bressler of Mechanicsburg; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 13, in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Hummelstown, with the Rev. Brian A. Fetterman officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Township.

Frances K. Donofrio
Frances Kay Donofrio, 62, of Pine Grove, died Monday, May 10, 2004, at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.
Born in Lebanon County, April 21, 1942, she was a daughter of Phyllis Knapp Ninkovich, Palmyra, and the late Stephen Ninkovich. She was a 1960 graduate of Bethel High School.
She worked as a gas station attendant at the former Red Arrow Gas Station, Pine Grove, owned by her father. She then operated the former Pine Grove Skateland, owned and operated the former Buddy's Arco, the former Buddy's R.V. Service and the former Buddy's Tropical Treat, all in Pine Grove, all with her husband.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald M. "Buddy, " who died on March 24, 1993.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are a son, Steven of Pine Grove; a daughter, Sheila Donofrio of Pine Grove; four sisters, Jacqueline Sattizahn of Cressona, Marion Palmer of Harrisburg, Patricia Smith of Hawaii, and Jane Barr of Pine Grove; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Friday, May 14, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Vonita Hess officiating. Interment was in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
Lee R. Dreibelbis
Lee R. Dreibelbis, 85, of RD Herndon, died Friday, May 14, 2004, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland County.
Born July 22, 1918 at Lower Mahanoy, he was a son of the late Luben and Lizzie Snyder Dreibelbis. He was a 1936 graduate of the former Mahanoy High School.
He was a self-employed farmer in RD Dalmatia, retiring in 1980.
Surviving are his wife Edith Hoffman Dreibelbis; two daughters, Rita Kimmel of Hegins, and Mary Boyer of Millersburg; two sons, Curtis Dreibelbis of Mifflintown, and Jeffrey Dreibelbis of RD Herndon; two brothers, Lloyd Dreibelbis of RD Dalmatia, and Frank Dreibelbis of RD Herndon; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 17, at the James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, with the Rev. Bob Sherfy officiating. Interment was in David’s Cemetery, Hebe.

Hannah W. Shertzer
Hannah W. Shertzer, 81, a resident of Susquehanna Lutheran Village and formerly of Halifax, died Friday, May 14, 2004 at the Village.
Born in Jackson Twp., she was a daughter of the late Riley and Catherine Bowman Weaver.
She was a retired registered nurse from Harrisburg Hospital; member of Faith U.M. Church in Fisherville; Fisherville Grange No. 2048; Harrisburg Hospital Alumni Association and Elizabethville Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Shertzer.
Surviving are a son, Jeffrey of Halifax; a daughter, Kay Hoffman, of Cabool, MO; three sisters, Cruzie Hoffner and Rosabella Lentz, both of Elizabethville and Pansy Shertzer of York; four grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.
Services were held on Tuesday, May 18, at Hoover Funeral Home, Elizabethville. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Enders.

Audrey A. "Sally" Shive, 80, of Halifax, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at home.
Born in Harrisonburg, VA, she was a daughter of the late O.E. and Ollie Hoover Roadcap.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd R. Shive.
Surviving are two sons, Gregory F., Jr. and Timothy R., Jr. both of Halifax; and four grandchildren.
Services were held on Friday, May 14, at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg. Interment was in Long's Cemetery, Halifax.

Walter R. Morgan
Walter R. "Short" Morgan, 69, of Valley View, died Thursday, May 13, 2004, at Pottsville Hospital.
Born in Valley View, October 26, 1934, he was a son of the late Wilson and Emma Travitz Morgan.
He was a coal miner for 38 years in area mines before retiring from Kocher Coal Co., Tower City.
He was of the Protestant Faith.
He was a life member of the Valley View Fire Co.
Surviving are his wife, the former Alice W. Wiest; a son, Rick R. Morgan of Valley View; three daughters, Dianne Lisella of Orwigsburg, Sandy E. Reightler of Dauphin, and Karen S. Stutzman of Hershey; a brother, Warren Morgan of Valley View; three sisters, Alma McCue of Lebanon, Verna Ceresini of Elizabethville, and Helen Miller of Elizabethville; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, May 18, from Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with Randy Bowman officiating with Terri Lee Bowman assisting.

Alvin E. Spicher
Alvin E. Spicher, 84, of Elizabethville, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at the Tremont Health and Rehab Center.
Born in Elizabethville, February 15, 1920, he was a son of the late Walter, Sr. and Nora Barge Spicher.
He was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving in North Africa, Sicily and the D-Day Invasion at Omaha Beach, France, where he was wounded and awarded the purple heart.
He was retired from the Garment and Textile Industry; was of the Protestant Faith; and a member of the Elizabethville V.F.W. No. 6343 and the D.A.V.
He was predeceased by five brothers, Leon, Royce, Donald, Earl and Paul; and two sisters, Alice Snyder and Buelah Keifer.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Elva M. "Tilly" Gentile Spicher; three sons, Gary P. and Rodney D., both of Elizabethville and Scott A. of Hershey; three sisters, Ruby Zeigler, Gloria Nice and Molly Wiest, all of Elizabethville; four brothers, Walter, Jr. of Tower City, Jay of Middletown, Bruce of Minnesota and Larry Rice of New York; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Monday, May 17, from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City. Interment was in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Charles A. Sturm, Jr.
Charles Augustus Sturm, Jr., 80, of Halifax, died Friday, May 14, 2004, from cancer.
He was a son of the late Charles and Myrtle Bechtel Sturm, Sr.
His career began as a farmer, who after being discharged for medical reasons from the Navy, then served his country by supplying food for the military during World War II. He and his father were the first electricians to bring electricity to the Armstrong Valley. He was an electrician for Herre Brothers for 45 years; a former Jackson Twp. supervisor and Upper Dauphin council of Government member; a 50 year member of I.B.E.W. Electrical Union Local No. 143; life member of NRA; a recipient of the Governor's Award for 50 years of citizenship for voting in every election and the donor of land for the Pleasant View Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Surviving are his wife, June V. Stahl Sturm; three sons, Jerry I. of Newport, Neil D. of Powells Valley and Darold E. of Millersburg; four daughters, Sandra K. Kittle of Carlisle, Darlene I. Sturm of Florida, Paulette M. Smith of Rife and Brenda V. Reigle of Powells Valley; two sisters, Bernadine E. Williams of Landisburg and Ardella V. Knapp of Dauphin; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 6, at Pleasant View Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 11 a.m., with Elder Brad Cassell officiating. Cremation is being handled by Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville.

Clarence R. Trathen
Clarence R. Trathen, 79, of Hegins, died Friday, May 14, 2004, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Gordon, October 22, 1932, he was the son of the late Clarence E. and Sarah Wagner Trathen.
He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
He retired in 1994 from Goulds Pumps, Ashland.
He was of the Lutheran faith and a member of the American Legion Post, Ashland, Ashland Fish & Game Club, Gordon Fire Company and Bull Run Camp, Renovo.
Surviving are two sisters, Jane Huhn of Gordon, and Eleanor Rosenmiller of York; his companion of 33 years, Elsie Neumeister of Hegins; aunts, nieces and nephews.
