Wilbur F. Herb
Wilbur F. Herb, 78, died Thursday, June 8, 2004, at Baptist Memorials Center, San Angelo, TX.
Born in Lykens, April 24, 1926, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mabel Stutzman Herb.
He joined the Merchant Marines at he age of 18 and served until 1964 when he retired from the U.S. Air Force. He later spent time as a Peace Corp. volunteer in Brazil.
Surviving are nieces and nephews, Steve, Joseph and Heidi Fetterolf, Romaine Daub, Tanya Shadle, and Tom Herb, all of PA; Teri Hogan, Mary Pina, Jeanie Maceda, Patty Barclow, Tommy, Paul, and Cindy Herb in the Dallas TX area.
Cremation remains will be showered at a memorial service at the Statue of Christ, Rio de Jinero, Brazil, in July.
Martha M. Miller
Martha M. Miller, 83, of Harrisburg, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at the Harrisburg Hospital.
Born in Lykens Township, October 8, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Homer W. And Mary A. Kissinger Lebo.
She was a retired sales clerk for the former Pomeroy's Dept. Store, Harrisburg. She was a Lifetime member of Simeon's Lutheran Church, Gratz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl V. Miller Sr.; three brothers, LeRoy, Albert and Marlin; and her grandson, Matt.
Surviving are three sons, Charles R. Miller of Harrisburg; Clair H. Miller of Annville; Carl V. Miller Jr. of Grantville; two daughters, Virginia Koppenhaver of Manheim, and Mary A. Miller of Harrisburg; a brother, Charles Lebo of Dalmatia; two sisters, Betty Keefer of Bradenton, FL, and Dorothy Maltbie of Titusville, FL; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, July 10, at Hoover Funeral Home Inc., Elizabethville, with the Rev. Barry Ridge officiating. Interment was in Sweitzers Memorial Cemetery, Berrysburg.

Mildred B. Riegel
Mildred B. Riegel, 85, of Pine Grove, died Friday, July 9, 2004, at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Auburn, January 24, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Mary Moyer Bressler.
She was a member of Salem-Hetzel's United Church of Christ, Pine Grove.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay L. Riegel Sr., who died January 20, 1983; two sisters, Dorothy Diefenderfer and June Evangelista; two brothers, Miles and Harry.
Surviving are three daughters, Joyce C. Strause of Mohrsville, Patricia A. Brown of Pine Grove, and Sandra L. Dittman of Bernville; a son, Jay L. Riegel Jr. of Schuylkill Haven; three brothers, Arlin Bressler of Douglassville, Whitner Bressler of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Dorie Bressler of Auburn; two sisters, Madeline Reber of Pottsville, and Loretta Meck of Hamburg; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, from Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven. The Rev. Frederick Fisher will officiate. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

Shirley A. Schaeffer
Shirley Ann Schaeffer, 61, of Pine Grove, died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at home.
Born in Lebanon, February 18, 1943, she was a daughter of Evelyn L. Becker Kalbach of Lebanon, and the late Richard C. Kalbach. She was a 1961 graduate of Horace Scott Sr. High School, Coatesville.
She retired on September 1, 1995, as an administrative officer of the day at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Lebanon.
She attended Salem Hetzel's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband of 16 years, Donald L.; three daughters, Jennifer L. Morningstar of Hyde Park, N.Y., Esther E. Harris of Pine Grove, and Evelyn L. Snyder of Lebanon; a stepson, Karl E. Schaeffer of Suedberg; two sisters, Sandra E. Kalbach and Martha M. Merlin, both of Lebanon; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, July 13, in Salem Hetzel's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Debra Ernst officiating. Interment was in Hetzel's Cemetery, Pine Grove. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy L. Shrawder
Dorothy L. Shrawder, 82, of Millersburg, died Friday, July 9, 2004, at Susquehanna Lutheran Village.
Born in Paxton, she was a daughter of the late George and Edith Haines Wildsmith.
She was a member of Grace U.M. Church in Millersburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene M. Shrawder.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald of Halifax and Michael of Millersburg; two daughters, Jacqueline Martz of Millersburg and Jann Marie Shrawder of Palmerton; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Services were held on Tuesday, July 13, at Hoover Funeral Home in Millersburg. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg.

Lucille H. Smith
Lucille H. Smith, 89, formerly of Pottsville and Pine Grove, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont.
Born in Pottsville, August 26, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Willard C. and Jennie Elizabeth Weaver Smith.
She was of the Protestant faith and a 1931 graduate of Pottsville High school. She had been employed ad a cook and was a former member of the Pine Grove Kitchen Band, and the Pine Grove Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Sidney and John W. Smith.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol Keesey of Pine Grove; a sister, Jeanne Bowers of Pine Grove; a granddaughter, Kristen Ippolito, and a great-grandson, Evan Ippolito, both of Lancaster.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 14, at 11 a.m. in the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Terrence Jansma officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Muir. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Joseph F. Stakem
Joseph F. Stakem, 77, of Williamstown, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County.
Born in Williamstown, February 2, 1927, he was a son of the late Patrick and Lillian Kerwin Stakem.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the destroyer USS Charles R. Ware.
He was a retired mechanic at Fort Indiantown Gap and retired from the Pennsylvania National Guard 103 in 1980. He also was a retired self-employed carpenter.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church and American Legion 239, both of Williamstown, and was formerly active with the W.Y.A.A.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Lois L. Wise; two daughters, Linda M. Smith of Harrisburg, and Janette L. Shutt of Williamstown; three sons, Robert P. of Orwin, Kerry T. of Hummelstown, and David L. of Harrisburg; a sister, Frances Kasper of Williamstown; two brothers, Thomas of Williamstown, and James of Alabama; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Tri M. Luong will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Dimon Funeral Home Inc., Williamstown, is in charge of arrangements.
Harold G. Stoner
Harold D. Stoner, 70, of Williamstown, died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville.
Born in Goldsboro, August 16, 1933, he was a son of the late Benjamin and Elnor Armstrong Stoner.
He had been employed as an operator two by the Commonwealth of PA, Department of General Services for 42 years. He was a social member of the Wiconisco Fire Company.
Surviving are his wife, Candy A. Thomspon Stoner; two sons, Earl L. Rexroth, III, and Jesse D. Rexroth; a daughter, Lottie L. Rexroth; and four grandchildren, all of Williamstown.
Memorial services were held at the convenience of the family. John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, was in charge of arrangements.
Ronald G. Wanco
Ronald G. Wanco, 74, of Millersburg, died Friday, July 9, 2004, at his residence.
He was born April 13, 1930 in Hazleton.
He graduated from Hazleton High School in 1948. He served with the U.S. Navy on board the USS Worcester during the Korean War. He retired from PP&L; in 1992. He was a member of David's Church in Killinger, serving on the consistory, missions and music/worship committees. He also sang in the church choir and was a member of "Men in Harmony".
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Marilyn Woodring Wanco; two sons, Mark of New Cumberland, and Paul of Millersburg; a daughter, Ruth Borrmann of Warminster; and five grandchildren.
Services were held on Tuesday, July 13, at David's Church in Killinger. Interment with military honors was in the church cemetery.

Sharon E. Walker
Sharon E. Walker, 60, of Lykens, died Thursday, July 1, 2004, at home.
Born in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of the late Sherwood and Margaret Bomgardner Johns. She was a graduate of Camp Hill High School.
Surviving are her husband, Larry Witmer; three daughters, Patricia Flemister, Peggy Rodenhaber, and Pamela Zimmerman, all of Harrisburg; a sister, Susan Johnson of Norristown; and 11 grandchildren.
Memorial service and Committal services were held on Tuesday, July 6, at the John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, with the Rev. H. Robert Samuels officiating.

Allen L. Staller
Allen L. "Roy" Staller, 97, formerly of Pine Grove, died Sunday, July 4, 2004, at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Pine Grove, August 11, 1906, he was a son of the late George and Lillian Berger Staller.
He had been employed at Garden State Tanning, Fleetwood.
He was of the Lutheran faith, a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, and a life member of Hose, Hook & Ladder Company No. 1, Pine Grove, Summit Station Fire Company, Frystown Fire Company and Mount Aetna Fire Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mamie V. Berger, who died January 26, 1989; three brothers, William, Luther and Harry; two sisters, Katie Lengel and Lucy Smith.
Surviving are two sisters, Helen Miller of Pine Grove, and Annie Witmer of Tremont; nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.
William B. Petroski
William B. Petroski, 84, of Mays Landing, N.J., formerly of Pine Grove, died Sunday, July 4, 2004, at home.
Born in Philadelphia, September 27, 1919, he was a son of the late Michael and Antonine Wolzzak Petroski. He lived in Pine Grove for 35 years.
He was a truck driver for the former Walker Trucking, Philadelphia.
He was of the Catholic faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Betty Jean Kelchner, who died on September 29, 2002; four brothers, Paul, Victor, Pete and Leo; two sisters, Margaret and Sophia Petroski.
Surviving are a daughter, Julia Gardner of Mays Landing, N.J.; two sons, William B. Jr. of Egg Harbor Township, Atlantic County, N.J., and Stephan M. of Portsmouth, Va.; a brother, John of Philadelphia; two sisters, Julia Maxin and Olga Grobelny, both of Philadelphia; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 8, from Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home Inc., Pottsville. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
Justin J. Minnich
Justin J. Minnich, infant son of Neil Minnich, Pine Grove, and Mary Ellen Jaskulski, Plymouth, died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Jonathan Derhammer of Plymouth; grandparents, Stanley and Janice Minnich of Pine Grove, Jack and Thelma Fritz, formerly of Pine Grove, and Joseph and Peggy Jaskulski of Nanticoke; great-grandparents, Beulah Adams of Pine Grove, Ray and Elizabeth Minnich of Pine Grove and Helen Jaskulski of Nanticoke; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were private. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township, Luzerne County. Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home, Nanticoke, was in charge of arrangements.
