Jane C. Esterline
Jane C. Esterline, formerly of Elizabethville, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at The Christopher Center Alzheimer's unit of Our Lady of Peace in Charlottesville, VA.
Born January 9, 1917, she was a daughter of the late C. Morris and Anna Fischel Richter.
She received a bachelor's degree from West Chester State College and taught Physical Education in Newport and Waynesboro. She also was a member of the Red Cross and spent time in Norfolk, VA. For many years she taught Sunday School in the "Blue Room" at the former EUB Church, now Trinity UM Church in Elizabethville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frederick A. Taxi Esterline, a grandson, Ryan F. Fogg, and two brothers, John and Carl Richter.
Surviving are a sister, Anne Schwartz of Jonestown; two daughters, Anne C. Fogg of Durham, NC and Nancy J. Tornello of Charlottesville, VA; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Hoover Funeral Home, Inc. in Elizabethville on Saturday, March 26, at 2 p.m. Family and friends are asked to join in sharing and remembering Jane in a memorial celebration at 3 p.m. Interment was in the Elizabethville Maple Grove Cemetery.

Hilda R. Grottenthaler
Hilda Ruth Grottenthaler, 89, of Halifax, died Monday, March 7, 2005, at Harrisburg Hospital.
Born in Hackelbernie, Carbon, January 16, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Elias and Lillie Mae Woodring Flickinger.
She was a graduate of Penn State University, with a Master's degree; retired from the Halifax Area Schools as a school teacher; was a member of the PA State Education Association; Market Square Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg; active in the Halifax Area Ambulance Association, member of the Millersburg branch of the American Business Women's Association; Golden Girls Investment Club and was very active in her church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Joseph E. Grottenthaler, who died on January 30, 1993; and by a son, Joel Grotten-thaler, who died in 1987.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Religious services were held Tuesday, March 15, at with the Reverend James D. Brown officiating. Interment was in Packerton Cemetery, Lehighton. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19, at 10 a.m. at the Market Square Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg.

Violet M. Griffiths
Violet M. Griffiths, 96, of Tremont, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at home.
Born in Donaldson, Jan. 13, 1909, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Gertie Brensinger Hoverocker.
She was retired from the former Donaldson Manufacturing Co.
She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Tremont, the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, the former Ladies Aid Society at Salem United Church of Christ, Donaldson, and the Ladies Moose Association, Sunbury; a life member of the Tremont Senior Citizens; and a member of the Pennsylvania Voters Hall of Fame for voting continuously for 50 years.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth, in 1944; a daughter, Laverne Leffler, in 2004; a grandson, Tommy Griffiths.
Surviving are three daughters, Diane Shandri of Altoona, Iowa, Betty Strubhar of Pine Grove, and Betty Zimmerman of Bernville; three sons, Dale E. of Donaldson, and Ronald J. and William A., both of Pine Grove; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. Interment will be in Donaldson Community Cemetery, Donaldson.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ. The Rev. Liddy Bileck will officiate.

William J. Harmon
William J. Harmon, 78, formerly of Halifax, died Thursday, February 17, 2005, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, MD.
He was a graduate of the New York State Ranger School and the University of Michigan. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Bureau of State Parks. He retired as Director of Waterways for the Department of Environmental Resources. He was the past president and an active member of the New York State Ranger School Alumni Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Russell Harmon, who died in 1983.
Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth H. Strittmatter of Philadelphia, and Jane H. Martin of Myersville, MD; his five grandchildren; his great-grandson; and a sister, Marilyn Harmon of Pittsford, NY.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 12 noon on Saturday March 19, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Middletown, MD. Interment will be private.

Lawrence K. Hoy
Lawrence K. Hoy, 72, of Mifflin Street, Pine Grove, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in St. John's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.
Born in Pine Grove, Nov. 4, 1932, he was a son of the late John and Hilda Smith Hoy.
He was a 1950 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School, a graduate of Lebanon Valley College and Ford School of Business.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove, where he served as organist and choir director for more than 50 years. He was a former member of the church council, Sunday school pianist and Sunday school teacher and treasurer. He served as president of St. John's Lutheran Cemetery Board, and gave many historical tours of the cemetery.
He taught piano instruction for 45 years and was a member of American Guild of Organists since 1977. He was the organist for more than 3, 500 weddings.
Surviving are a brother, Herbert; a niece, Rose Newswanger; and a nephew, Christopher Hoy, all of Pine Grove area.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 14, in St. John's Lutheran Church, with John Ziegler, a synodically authorized lay minister, officiating. Interment was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
Rev. Clyde E. Huber
Rev. Clyde E. Huber, 83, of West Lawn, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at his residence.
Born in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late Edward I. and Helen P. Smith Huber. He was a native of Pine Grove and graduated from high school in 1939. He was a 1943 graduate of Gettysburg College, a 1945 graduate of Eastern Baptist and Evangelical School of Theology and a 1950 graduate of the Gettysburg Lutheran Theological Seminary.
He served as a pastor in Williamstown for three years, Steelton, for seven years, Jim Thorpe for three years, and Cressona for four and one-half years. He also served as pastor emeritus of Schwarzwald United Church of Christ, Reading, for 32 years.
During his retirement, he performed interim pastorates at Molltown, St. John's United Church of Christ, Friedensburg, Christ United Church of Christ, Temple, and St. John's Gernant's United Church of Christ, Leesport.
Surviving are his wife, the former Anna Mae Hoy; a son, Dr. David C. Huber of Wyomissing; a daughter, Christine A. Anne of Rensselaer, N.Y.; four grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, 11 from Lutz Funeral Home, Reading. Interment was private at the convenience of the family.

Betty L. Jones
Betty L. Jones, 78, of Harrisburg, died Wednesday March 9, 2005, in Villa Teresa Nursing Home.
Born in Donaldson, March 24, 1926 she was a daughter of the late William and Isabelle Jones.
She graduated from Tremont High School and Pottsville Barber School. She owned and operated five Barber Shops for over 45 years in the Harrisburg and Middletown areas.
She was a member of the Paxton Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg.
Survived are a long time friend, Frances C. Green, with whom she made her home; an aunt, Catherine Hatter of Tremont; and several nieces and cousins.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Paxtang Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Rita B. Koch
Rita B. Koch, 78, of Halifax, formerly of Jamul, CA, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at her residence.
Born in Springfield, MA, Sept. 26, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Obline Lagasse Morel.
She was a member of Reigle's Bible Fellowship, Millersburg.
She worked as a surgical nurse at Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, CA, before moving to Halifax.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, William E. Koch; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Reigle's Bible Fellowship, Millersburg, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, with Rev. Benjamin Brown officiating.

Phyllis L. Lebo
Phyllis L. Lebo, 84, a resident of Susquehanna Lutheran Village, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born in Millersburg, May 16, 1920, she was a daughter of the late William W. and Alvina E. Hassinger Howard. She was also preceded in death by her step mother, Lesta Latsha Howard.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Millersburg, former Sunday school teacher; and member of women's church organizations.
She was a retired homemaker and farmer's wife.
She was [preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Morris J. Lebo; two brothers, Eugene and John; and a sister-in-law, Alice Zimmerman.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Warfe of Millersburg; three sisters, Frances Shoop, Leona Moore, and Kathryn Teats, all of Millersburg; two grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Millersburg, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, with Rev. Dr. Richard and Ruth Ballard officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Burial in David's Church Cemetery, Killinger.

Gary D. Lileck Sr.
Gary D. Lileck Sr., 65, of Pine Grove, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at the Pottsville Hospital and Warne Clinic.
Born in Tamaqua, Sept. 10, 1939, he was a son of the late Andrew and Helen Smith Lileck. He was a 1958 graduate of Tamaqua High School and attended the Penn State Technical School in Allentown, where he received his draftsman certificate.
He had been first employed as a mechanic at Mars Motors, Tamaqua, and then he was employed as a structural Steel draftsman at the former Krop Steel, now Kane Steel, on the Pottsville Minersville Highway. He was last employed for 25 years as a plant manager at Atlantic Track and Turnout Co. in the Saint Clair Industrial Park.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Lileck Jr.; two sisters, Patricia Verity and Irene McGregor; and a nephew, Andrew Lileck III.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Anna Marie Lohenitz Lileck; two sons, Gary D. Lileck Jr. of Ashland, and Dwayne Lileck of Pine Grove.
Services were held Saturday, March 12, in the H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Michael Ahrensfield officiating. Interment was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua.

Roseanna E. Ness
Roseanna E. Ness, 77, of Pine Grove, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at home.
Born in Pine Grove, April 17, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Calvin and Alice Klinger Neal.
She was a graduate of Pine Grove High School and Kutztown State Teachers College.
She was a school teacher in the art department in Myerstown, and then Auburn, New York. Following that, she was an editor for Yoh Company, which made Army manuals.
She returned to the area and taught in the Blue Mountain School District, and then the Pine Grove School District.
She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Neal Ness, and a daughter, Deborah Ann Howell.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Edward W.; a grandson, Keeton Edward Howell of Pine Grove; two sisters, Betty Doran of Pine Grove, and Lorraine Pace of Wyoming.
