Margaret M. Ney
Margaret M. Ney, 91, of Tower City, died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lititz.
Born in Lykens, Aug. 20, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Bertha L. Wise Cooper.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City, and White Shrine, Galilian Chapter 34, Pottsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. "Pinky, " in 1996.

Surviving are a daughter, Betty J. Minnich of Manheim; two sons, James R. of Lansdale, and Thomas G. of Manahawkin, N.J.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, from the Chapel of Dimon Funeral Home Inc., Tower City. The Rev. Linda L. Bonfiglio will officiate. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services, with a White Shrine service at 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, RD Tower City.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church, East Grand Avenue, Tower City, PA 17980. Dimon Funeral Home Inc., Tower City, is in charge of arrangements.

Jennie E. Schaffer
Jennie E. Schaffer, 90, a resident at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at the village.
Born in Dalmatia, May 28, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Elias and Laura Lauden-Slayer Phillips.

She was a graduate of the former Lock Haven State Teachers College; was employed as a elementary teacher at the former Dalmatia and Wernersville schools.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Clarence R. Schaffer, who was pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilkes-Barre from 1965-1983; Christ Lutheran Church in Hellertown from 1952-1965; and Trinity Lutheran from 1941-1952. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Ray, Roy, Ben, and Lee; and three sisters, Martha, Clara and Sara.

Surviving are two sons Richard L. of Belmont, MA, Luther C. of Poway, CA; a granddaughter, Sandy Tracy of Temple, AZ; and three great-grandsons, Harrison and Tyler Tracy.

Services were held Saturday, April 2, at Stone Valley U.C.C., Dalmatia, with Rev. Charles Oldland III officiating. Interment was in Stone Valley Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to a local Lutheran Church congregation. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., in Millersburg was in charge of arrangements.

Pauline G. Smeltz
Pauline G. Smeltz, 91, of RR 1, Dornsife, died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at the Sunbury Community Hospital.
Born in Dornsife, Nov. 30, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Lena Snyder Kobel.

She was educated in the Dornsife area schools. She was a member of Himmel's United Church of Christ, Rebuck, where she had been a former member of the Women of the Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W. Smeltz, who died Sept. 23, 1985; a granddaughter, Jacqueline Erdman in 1963; and three sisters, Dorothy Kobel, Mae Fetter, and Lena Derrick; and a brother, Bobby Kobel.

Surviving are three daughters, Dorothy Erdman of RR 1, Dornsife, Joan Bobb of Etters, and Carol Dreibelbis of RR 1, Dornsife; a son, David Smeltz of Elizabethville; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 6, at 11 a.m. from Himmel's Church, Rebuck, with the Rev. Frederick Faust officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Himmel's Cemetery, Rebuck.

Memorial contributions may be made to Himmel's Church Memorial Fund, Rebuck, PA 17867. The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown, is in charge of arrangements.

Ethel Reeser-Smith
Ethel Harriet Reeser-Smith, 87, of Friendly Nursing Home, Pitman, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
Born in New Ringgold, May 24, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Jennie Knapp Gerber. She was a 1935 graduate of Tamaqua High School, and received her teaching degree from Kutztown University.

She worked as a school teacher and sewer in the textile industry.

She was a member of Zion's Stone Church, Snyders.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Russell R. Reeser and Roy C. Smith; two sons, Robert Reeser and Larry R. Reeser; two brothers, Russell and Richard Gerber; two sisters, Dorothy Gerber and Ruth Romanchik; a granddaughter, Lori Reeser.

Surviving are a son, Mark E. Reeser of Baltimore; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Saturday, April 2, at Zion's Stone Church Cemetery, Snyders, with the Rev. Michael A. Frost officiating. Interment was in Zion's Stone Church Cemetery. Robert S. Nester Funeral Home Inc., Snyders, was in charge of arrangements.

Stanley C. Baker, Jr.
Stanley C. Baker, Jr., 83, of Millersburg, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.
Born in Newburg, Jan. 8, 1922, he was a son of the late Stanley and Elma Crist Baker. His father was the former pastor of David's UCC in Killinger.

He was a graduate of Millersburg High School, Class of 1940; was a retired machine operator at the former TRW in Harrisburg for 33 years; and was a Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member, councilman, and treasurer of the building fund of Salem Lutheran Church in Killinger; member of the Millersburg Gun Club; Erdman Sportsman Assoc.; P.A. Flyers Assoc.; PA Trappers Assoc; NRA; and Pioneer Club at TRW.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Marie Fogel Baker; a sister, Virginia Baker; and two brothers Sterling and Glenn.

Surviving are a daughter Bonnie Kabonick of Halifax; and a son, Gary of Halifax; five grandchildren; and a dear friend, Shirley Whitman of Millersburg.
Services were held on Saturday, March 26, at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg, with Rev. Elizabeth George officiating. Interment with military honors was at Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Killinger.

Family request donations to his church, P.O. Box 331, Millersburg, PA 17061. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Billie L. Fetterhoff
Billie L. Fetterhoff, 73, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Orwin, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005.
Born in Reinerton, Jan. 9, 1932, he moved to Arizona in 1996.
He was an Army veteran.

He retired from Perk Foods.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Louise Barnhart; two brothers, Hal and Charles.

Surviving are his companion and friend, Marie Lemmon; a daughter, Lisa Sukenic; two sisters, Ruth Ochs, Tower City, and Grace Umbenhauer, Orwin; a brother, Jack, Harrisonville; two grandsons, Tyler and Aaron of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 12 in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Mariposa Gardens Funeral Home, Arizona, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary E. Hain
Mrs. Mary Ellen 'Sue' Hain, 81, of Millersburg, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at the Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Upper Paxton Twp. She was formerly of Elizabethville.
Born in Washington Twp., December 18, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Harry N. and Mary A. Mumma Troutman.

She was a secretary for the Nedrich Shirt Mfg. Co., and also had retired from the Elizabethville Garment Factory, both formerly in Elizabethville. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Elizabethville. She also was a member of the church Parish Life Committee; was the chairperson of the CLC Community Blood Bank for 22 years; and a member of the Reliance Hose Co. No.1, Elizabethville.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Norman Jay Hain; a sister, Catherine A. Troutman; and four brothers, John W., Paul A., Harry F., and Charles N. Troutman.

Surviving are a son, Thomas N. Hain of Elizabethville; a daughter, Martha Jane Fulkrod of Elizabethville; a sister, Anna L. Stoneroad of Elizabethville; three brothers, Donald R. Walter L., and James D. Troutman, all of Elizabethville; three granddaughters, Nancy Lee Spacek, Mary Alice Carns and Laura Ann Motter; and great- granddaughter, Jessica Spacek.

Services were held Tuesday, March 29, at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville, with the Rev. Nancy Weiss and Rev. Charles H. Oldland III officiating. Mausoleum encryptment was at Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville.

Memorial donations may be made to her church at 205 West Main Street, Elizabethville, PA 17023. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville, was in charge of arrangements.

Ethel M. Klinger
Ethel Mae Klinger, 77, of Harrisburg, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Lykens, November 12, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Helen Snyder Kopp.

She retired from the State Department of Labor and Industry and was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Harrisburg, where she sang in the choir and was previously a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Lykens Valley Roamers Camping Club and had volunteered at the Polyclinic Hospital for years.

Surviving are her husband, Ralph W. Klinger; a son, Thomas R. Klinger of Harrisburg; a sister, Janet Willard of Gratz; three and grandchildren, Andrew T. Klinger, Justin Jones, and Sarah E. Klinger.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 28, at Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Harrisburg. Interment was in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.

Robert H. Klinger
Robert H. Klinger, 71, of Annville, died Thursday, March 24, 2005, in the Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Hegins Twp. July 29, 1933, he was a son of the late Claude and Sadie Dunkelberger Klinger.

He was a Truck Salesman for Mack Trucks, Inc. Harrisburg. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of Korea and a former member of Chapel Hill United Church of Christ, Camp Hill.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Claude Klinger, Jr., and a sister, Betty Wolfgang.

Surviving are two daughters, Audrey M. Shenk of Annville and Bridget C. Wheeler of York Haven; a sister, Dolores Klinger of the Poconos; three grandchildren, Rose Shenk, Shelby Wheeler and Taylor Wheeler.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 29, at the Kreamer Funeral Home, Annville. Interment was held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Avenue, Suite 202, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Kreamer Funeral Home, Annville, was in charge of arrangements.

Robert H. Klouser
Robert H. Klouser, 81, of Hegins, died Friday, March 25, 2005, at home.
Born in Hegins Township, Dec. 31, 1923, he was a son of the late Charles and Katie Koppenhaver Klouser.

He served in the Army during World War II and was awarded a Bronze Star.

He was employed by Kane Steel Co., Pottsville, as a miner and later as a laborer until his retirement.

He was a member of VFW Post 8237, Valley View, American Legion Post 575, Valley View, and Hegins Fire Company.

Surviving are his companion, Judy Shutt of Hegins; a daughter, Yvonne Specht of Hegins; a sister, Naomi Schucker of Millersburg; two granddaughters, Shannon Melideo of Reston, Va., and Somer Parker of Hershey; a grandson, Shane Specht of Hyannis, Mass.; and five great-grandchildren.

Religious service were held Tuesday, March 29, at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Carl Shankweiler officiating. Interment was in Church of God Cemetery, Valley View.

Memorial donations may be made to Pinnacle Health Hospice, 301 One Norwegian Plaza, Pottsville, PA 1790. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.

George F. Knapp
George Franklin Knapp, 65, of Pine Grove, died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at home.
Born in Ravine, April 13, 1939, he was a son of the late John and Ruth Shutt Knapp.

He was a graduate of Tremont Township School. He was a Marine Corps veteran having served during peacetime.

He had been employed as a supervisor and machinist at the former Canoe Mfg. and J.E. Knitting Mills. He last worked in the sporting goods department of Wal-Mart, Lebanon.

In addition, he was a driver and attendant for Pine Grove Ambulance Association for 13 years.

He was a member of Jacob's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, the former Diane Wolfe; two sons, George F. Jr. of Schuylkill Haven, and John H. of Pine Grove; and four granddaughters, Heather, Jenna, Megan and Jolene Knapp.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 28, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Gregor Bileck officiating. Interment was in Jacob's Cemetery, Pine Grove.
