Kathryn Ullom Hinerman
Kathryn Ullom Hinerman, 96, of Aleppo Township, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010.
She was born August 10, 1913, in Aleppo Township, a daughter of the late Robert and Ida Moore Ullom.
Mrs. Hinerman was a lifelong resident of Aleppo Township, where she attended Aleppo High School.
She had worked several years at the former Cameron Clay Products Factory in Cameron, W.Va.
On October 11, 1930, she married Albert (Ed) Hinerman, who died November 4, 1990.
Surviving are a son, William K. Hinerman of Waynesburg; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, David Clair Ullom of Kittanning.
Deceased are three brothers, Robert (Doc), Rex and James Warren Ullom; and six sisters, Olive Miller, Nell Pounds, Edna Nichols, Pauline Jones, Norma Jean McCracken and Margaret Riffle.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Greene County Humane Society, 183 Jefferson Road, Waynesburg, PA 15370.
Leonard Martof
Leonard (Leo) Martof, 85, of East Brainerd, Tenn., formerly of Crucible, died Saturday, January 16, 2010, in his home.
He was born November 6, 1924, in Crucible, a son of the late Michael and Mary Bandish Martof.
Mr. Martof served his country in World War II as a sergeant with the 34th Bomb Group in Europe and also participated in relief efforts after the war.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6303 in Greensboro.
After the war, he married Elizabeth Margetich, who died in 1988.
Mr. Martof worked at the U.S.S. Robena Mine, Chrysler Corp. and retired from General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio, where he worked as a machinest/machine repair person and was a member of UAW Local 1112.
Surviving are two sons, Jim Martof and wife Edie of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Tom Martof of Salem, Ohio; six grandchildren; two brothers, Edward Martof of Masury, Ohio, and Lorence Martof of Florida; and a sister, Frances Skavarch of Florida.
Deceased are four brothers.

Paul E. Davis
Paul E. Davis, 61, of Waynesburg, formerly of Amity, died Friday, January 22, 2010, in his home.
He was born November 29, 1948, in Washington, a son of the late Paul E. and Ida Steele Davis.
He attended Washington High School.
Mr. Davis was a retired maintenance worker for V-Bat Plastics in Washington.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served two tours of duty in Vietnam.
Mr. Davis was a member of American Legion Post 330, Veterans of Foreign Wars 4793 and Disabled American Veterans 123, all in Waynesburg. He was also a member of Washington Independent Club and Waynesburg Eagles Aerie 589.
Surviving are three sons, Steven M. Davis of Sycamore, Christopher Davis of Washington and Paul E. Davis Jr. of Waynesburg, and two grandchildren.
Richard C. Hawkins
Richard C. Hawkins, 95, died Monday, January 18, 2010, in Malcolm Randall Veterans Hospital in Gainesville, Fla.
He was born August 31, 1914, in Waynesburg, a son of Ernest L. and Charlotte Addleman Hawkins.
After graduation from Jefferson High School, he attended Waynesburg College.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces in World War II. He was a prisoner of war in the Philippines and Japan for three years. Even though these years were difficult, he continued to be cheerful and sociable. He was an inspiration to everyone.
Mr. Hawkins enjoyed his employment at S.C. Johnson Wax Co. as a sales representative for many years and retired to Beverly Hills, Fla., in 1985.
After retirement, he enjoyed golf and other social activities.
Survivors include a daughter, Caryl Jean Hawkins of Denver, Colo.; a son, Richard E. (Teresa T.) Hawkins of Birmingham, Ala.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Charlotte A. McCarrell of Washington, Sara C. Roberts of Media and Margaret H. Bower of Boynton Beach, Fla., and a brother, James F. Hawkins of Waynesburg.
Deceased are his beloved wife, Sara, who died July 9, 2003, after 58 years of marriage, and brothers and sisters Joseph C. Hawkins, Earl L. Hawkins, Lena C. Hawkins, Virginia H. Harshman and J. Willis Hawkins.
Charles R. Hickman
Charles R. "Chuck" Hickman, 61, of Sycamore, died at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010, in his home, following a lingering illness.
He was born Friday, March 19, 1948, in Washington, a son of the late Sidney E. Hickman and Mabel E. Mitchell Hickman.
Mr. Hickman was affiliated with West Union Presbyterian Church and enjoyed woodworking.
He worked as a custodian for 20 years with Central Greene School District, retiring in 2005.
Surviving is his wife, Monna Scott Hickman, whom he married on November 27, 1968.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mariam Hickman of Sycamore; two sons, Eric Hickman and Sidney S. Hickman, both of Sycamore; four grandchildren, Cooper Hickman, Gertrude Hickman, Jacob Hickman and Izabella Hickman; a sister, Paulette Knox of Claysville; two brothers, Robert Hickman of Washington and Edwin Hickman of New Kensington; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a sister, Betty Jean Shriver; and two brothers, James and William Hickman.
Jean Zimmerman
Mrs. Jean Zimmerman, age 89, of Concord, Ga., formerly of Waynesburg, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Providence Healthcare in Thomaston, Ga.
She was born July 6, 1920 in Wheeling, W, Va., to the late Merle Thomas Ochsenbein and Irene Mount Ochsenbein.
She enjoyed painting and was an amateur archeologist. She was a former board member of the Greene County Humane Society, a member of the First Christian Church, the Greene County Museum in Waynesburg and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James B. Zimmerman and her twin sister, Jane Dydek.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Cynthia Zimmerman of Concord, Ga. and George and Rhonda Zimmerman of Lawrenceville, Ga.
She is also survived by four grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. the hour of service on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc., located at 197 N. Maiden St. Waynesburg, Pa. 15370, with the Rev. Bill McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Greene Mount Cemetery, Waynesburg.
Janet L. Cratty, 82, of Garards Fort, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in her home.
She was born April 12, 1927, in Brownsville, a daughter of the late John Abraham and Naomi Leona Grawthrop Wheeler.
Mrs. Cratty was a 1945 graduate of Brownsville High School and was a resident of Headlee Heights since 1959.
She worked for a short time as a licensed practical nurse before working as a pharmacy technician at the former Greene County Memorial Hospital, until her retirement.
Mrs. Cratty enjoyed reading and was very active with her high school class reunion committee. She most enjoyed her "card ministry, " constantly sending cards and encouraging those around her.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Greensboro, Uniontown Chapter 263 and Order of the Eastern Star of Uniontown.
Mrs. Catty cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On September 4, 1948, she married Herman G. Cratty, who died November 21, 1998.
Surviving are a son, Kelly T. Cratty of Clarksville; two daughters, Sally Gail Crouser and husband Brad of Charleston, W.Va., and Jill Pekar and husband J. D. of Dilliner; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, John A. Wheeler and wife Lorraine of Salinas, Calif.; and a sister, Dakota Thornton of Merritt Island, Fla.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are a son, H. G. Cratty; and a brother, Harry Wheeler.

William F. Lewis Sr.
William F. Lewis Sr., 74, of Carmichaels, died Monday, February 1, 2010, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.
He was born November 24, 1935, in Millsboro, a son of the late William M. and Elsie Mae Bane Lewis.
Mr. Lewis first served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1953 to 1957 and later served as chief of police of Clarksville and in the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1957 to 1959.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1959 to 1974, retiring as a chief petty officer. While enlisted in the U.S. Navy, he served as a police officer for the city of San Diego, Calif.
In 1974, he moved back to Greene County and served as chief of police of Carmichaels Borough from 1974 to 1981. In 1981, he moved to Cumberland Township police department and served as chief of police, until his retirement April 4, 2009.
He also served as a deputy coroner from 1976 to 1994 and chief deputy from 1994 until the time of his death. At one time, he served on the Greene County Drug Task Force and as a Greene County detective.
He attended Christian Nation Church in Carmichaels.
Mr. Lewis was a member of American Legion Post 400 in Carmichaels, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 and Blue Knights Lodge of Pennsylvania Post 16.
On December 30, 1955, he married Mary Ann Robinson, who survives.
Also surviving are nine children, Debra Ellsworth and husband Tracy of Crucible, Lou Lewis of Carmichaels, William F. Lewis Jr. and wife Christine of Carmichaels, Mike Lewis and wife Kim of Crucible, Herbie Long and husband Mike of Carmichaels, Judy Armstrong and husband Ryan of Carmichaels, Douglas Lewis and wife Amanda of Carmichaels, Crystal Pratt and husband Steve of Carmichaels and Barbara Harvey and husband Ryan of Waynesburg; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six brothers and sisters, Mary Ellen Howes of Deemston, Tom Lewis of Millsboro, Robert Lewis of Clarksville, Jim Lewis of Clarksville, Judy Lightner of Waynesburg and Kathy Conley of Ohio.
Deceased is a brother, Harry Joseph Lewis.
Martha Murphy
Martha (Elaine) Murphy, 89, of Clarksville, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in Our Country Home, New Salem.
She was born November 25, 1920, in Clarksville, a daughter of the late Ewing and Erma Lewis Lippencott.
Mrs. Murphy was a homemaker who loved to cook and bake.
She was a member of Marianna Christian Church and former member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
On May 19, 1940, she married William L. Murphy, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Hrin and husband Michael of Jefferson; two grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Neff of Oakdale.
Deceased are a grandson, Christopher Hrin; and two sisters, Thelma Venick and Beatrice Adamson.
Mary E. Guzik Wahula
Mary E. Guzik Wahula, 82, of Carmichaels, passed away Monday, February 1, 2010, in Lasosky's Personal Care Home, Clarksville.
She was born April 8, 1927, in Nemacolin, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Boggio Guzik.
Mrs. Wahula was a graduate of Cumberland Township High School in Carmichaels.
She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Nemacolin and a member of Catholic Daughters of America and Our Lady Altar-Rosary Society.
On July 5, 1947, she married Walter S. Wahula. They operated the family farm for 60 years.
Mrs. Wahula was a member of Greene County Farmers Association and enjoyed crocheting and bowling.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary L. McKean and husband Adam, and a son, Stanley J. Wahula and wife Terry, both of Carmichaels; four grandchildren; and a brother, Matthew Guzik and wife Susan of Eastlake, Ohio.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a daughter, Nancy Hughes; two brothers, John and Edward Guzik; and two sisters, Clara McFeaters and Jennie Lasko.
