Lois Davis Connell, age 85 of Waynesburg, Pa., died Saturday, January 2, 2010.
Surviving are two daughters: Debora Lei Parker Purdy and Lois P. Buyce.
Marlene Miller Eitner Kulha
Marlene Miller Eitner Kulha, 73, of Crucible, died Friday, January 8, 2010, in Donnell House, Washington.
She was born January 10, 1936, in Crucible, a daughter of the late Clyde H. and Mary Smillie Miller.
Mrs. Kulha was a graduate of Carmichaels Area High School in 1954, Maison Beauty Academy in 1969 and West Virginia Career College in 1972.
She was employed by Dr. A. Carl Walker of Waynesburg for five years, Supreme Bumper Plant in Crucible for five years and Curry Memorial Home, now Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, for more than 33 years.
Mrs. Kulha loved her family, friends and enjoyed people in general.
Surviving are two sons, Robert C. "Muck" Eitner of Crucible and David F. Eitner and wife Andrea of Crucible; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, James Miller and wife Debbie of Uniontown; two nephews; two nieces; and two cousins.
Deceased are her husband, Steve Kulha; a son, Ricky (Hermie) Eitner; two sisters, Mary Gail and Nona Miller; and a brother, Donny Miller.
Ann Marie Lacek Feduk
Ann Marie Lacek Feduk, 87, of Waynesburg, formerly of Uniontown, passed away Saturday January 9, 2010, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.
She was born June 21, 1922, in Lieth, Fayette County, a daughter of the late Andrew and Victoria Jendral Lacek.
Mrs. Feduk was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and it Confraternity of Christian Mothers.
Surviving are her daughter, Victoria A. Funk and husband Earnie; and a brother, Andrew Lacek.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Michael Feduk; brothers Joseph Lacek, William Lacek, Alexander (Walter) Lacek and Frank Lacek; and sisters Victoria Lacek, Irene Lacek and Louise Dzurilla.

Melvin Cooke, 90, of Waynesburg, formerly of Center Township, Greene County, died at 11 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2010, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.
He was born March 27, 1919, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Thomas Byron and Gladys Roberts Cooke.
Mr. Cooke resided in Center Township from 1941 until returning to Waynesburg in 2007.
He was a member of Trinity Independent Baptist Church in Waynesburg and West Greene Senior Citizens.
Mr. Cooke enjoyed farming, raising a garden and yard work, as long as his health permitted.
He was last employed as a truck driver for National Sanitation Service in Republic, prior to retiring in 1984.
On January 10, 1940, he married Dorothy Grace Hatfield, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert, husband of Barbara Cooke of Blacksville, W.Va., Earl B. (Jack), husband of Janice Cooke and Jerry, husband of Linda Cooke, both of Waynesburg; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a grandson, Scott Cooke; a great-granddaughter, Desiree Brosovich; and a sister, Mae Edgar.
He was the last of his immediate family.
Porter E. Herrod
Porter E. Herrod, 61, of Carmichaels, died Monday, February 8, 2010, in his home, following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 2, 1948, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Porter E. Herrod Sr. and Marie I. Miller Herrod.
Prior to his illness, he worked for Piatt Machine.
Mr. Herrod made his home with his former wife, Catherine Teagarden Krosinger Herrod.
Surviving are two daughters, Jeanie Herrod of Washington and Judy Herrod of Waynesburg; a son, Thomas Herrod of Canonsburg; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Orville Herrod of Waynesburg, Ed Herrod of Annville, Ga., and Paul Herrod of Washington; three sisters, Leona Lemmon of Rices Landing, Anna Harmon of Bridgeport, Wash., and Ruth Wade of Aleppo; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Melvin and Jack Herrod.
Shannon L. Hudak
Shannon L. Hudak, 57, of Waynesburg, died Sunday, February 7, 2010, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg.
She was born December 1, 1952, in Uniontown, a daughter of Ella Mae Franklin Jordan Fabian of Uniontown and the late Buddy Jordan.
Mrs. Hudak attended Laurel Highlands High School and studied bookkeeping at Fayette Area Vocational Technical School.
On January 29, 1971, she married David M. Hudak, who survives.
She was a homemaker and a former resident of Uniontown, where she was a Girl Scout and Brownie troop leader.
Mrs. Hudak was baptized at Salvation Army in Uniontown and later baptized and confirmed as a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Uniontown, where she was a member of Christian Mother's and Catholic SOKOL. She also was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Waynesburg.
She enjoyed baking and arts and crafts. She was awarded ribbons for many of her paintings at local fairs. She was an avid reader.
Surviving, in addition to her mother and husband, are a son, David Lee; a daughter, Angela Renee; a grandson; two brothers, Gary and Randy; two sisters, Melody and Debra; her mother-in-law, Elizabeth Hudak of Uniontown; three sisters-in law, Becky Varndell (Harry) of Utah, Jane Ann Hudak of Florida and Mary Elaine Williams (David) of Uniontown; and five brothers-in-law, Joseph A. Hudak Jr. (Judy) of Utah, William J. Hudak Sr. (Debbie) of Smithfield, Matthew P. Hudak of West Virginia, the Rev. Mark Hudak O.F.M. of Ohio and Edward P. Hudak (Lisa) of West Virginia.
Laura Jane Rein
Laura Jane Rein, 90, of Waynesburg, died Saturday, February 6, 2010, in the home of her caregivers.
She was born September 6, 1919, in Waynesburg, a daughter of J.A. (Lon) and Helen S. Minor Bell.
Mrs. Rein graduated from Waynesburg High School and attended Waynesburg University and Penn Commercial.
She worked as a caseworker for the Waynesburg office of the Department of Public Welfare, as a meter reader for Waynesburg Borough Police Department and as a part-time dispatcher for Greene County Emergency Control. She also was employed by the U.S. Coast Guard in Washington, D.C., Houston Post in Houston, Texas, as a journalist and the Democrat Messenger in Waynesburg as a freelance writer.
On April 29, 1944, she married Lt. Charles M. Rein, formerly of Houston, whose B-26 bomber was shot down August 25, 1951, during his eleventh mission over North Korea, along the Yellow Sea. Neither the plane nor the crew was ever recovered.
Mrs. Rein, in conjunction with Bill Davison, was instrumental in having Freedom Bridge, located near McDonalds in Waynesburg, dedicated in her husband's memory.
During the 1950s and '60s, she was a member of Civil Defense. She also was a member of Gold Star Wives of America and First Presbyterian Church of Waynesburg.
Mrs. Rein was an avid defender of animal rights and worked to establish the Greene County Humane Society. She rescued many stray and neglected animals in conjunction with Dr. and Mrs. Elmer Marx, now of Juneau, Alaska. She had several devoted friends, who were helpful to her over the years, including Maureen Mulvaney, Joe Ayersman and Jack and Doloris McCracken and family.
She will be missed by her beloved dog, Pebbles, also known as Pebbie.
Surviving are a brother, Robert W. (Norma) Bell of Waynesburg and Summerfield, Fla.; a niece; two nephews; several grandnieces and grandnephews; her husband's niece; her husband's nephew; and her caregiver, Alice Hennen and family, with whom she resided for the last several years.
John E. Yoders Jr.
John E. Yoders Jr., 52, of Waynesburg, died at 11 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2010, in Washington Hospital. He had been in his usual health and death was caused by an apparent heart attack.
He was born Thursday, November 14, 1957, in Holbrook, a son of the late John E. Yoders Sr. and Fern Whipkey.
Mr. Yoders was a member of the AFSCME local.
He enjoyed gardening and yard work. He also enjoyed aggravating his friends and family, all in good fun.
Mr. Yoders worked for 31 years as an equipment operator for the state Department of Transportation and was a certified equipment trainer.
His wife, Betty Bedilion Yoders, whom he married September 11, 2008, survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jessie and Nikki Yoders, both of Waynesburg; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Bianca and Wes Simpson of Spraggs and Tera and Craig Bland of Waynesburg; a granddaughter; his stepmother, Jane Yoders of Carlisle; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Raymond E. Snodgrass II
Raymond Edward (Ed) Snodgrass, 64, of Waynesburg, died Monday, February 8, 2010, in his home.
He was born August 18, 1945, in Waynesburg, a son of Erna Morgan Snodgrass of Waynesburg and the late Raymond Edward (Pete) Snodgrass.
Mr. Snodgrass was a 1963 graduate of Waynesburg High School and a 1972 graduate of Waynesburg College.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1967 as a clerk typist in Tan Son Nhut Air Base near Saigon during the Vietnam War and received an Army Commendation Medal.
Mr. Snodgrass was employed by Greene County Industrial Development and as an assistant to the director of Housing and Residence Life Department at West Virginia University for several years.
He retired in 2005, after 22 years in the local Public Assistance office, as an income maintenance caseworker assisting clients with job retraining skills in the employment and training program.
He enjoyed gardening, writing, music and family gatherings with nieces and nephews he adored.
Surviving are his mother, Erna Snodgrass; an aunt, Edith Teagarden of Barnesville, Ohio; a sister, Lovella Burns of Waynesburg; a brother, Bill (Kathy) Snodgrass of North Huntingdon; three nephews; and two nieces.
Charles E. Stockdale
Charles E. Stockdale, 89, of Monroeville, formerly of West Newton, died Monday, February 8, 2010, in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville, following a brief illness.
He was born December 19, 1920, in Carmichaels, a son of the late D.M. and Lucy Snider Stockdale.
Mr. Stockdale was a member of West Newton Presbyterian Church.
He was a graduate of Cumberland Township High School.
Mr. Stockdale was a veteran of World War II, having served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Forces.
His love of flying led him to become a flight instructor. He later worked as an accident investigator for the Federal Aviation Administration until his retirement in 1988.
Mr. Stockdale loved to snow ski.
He was a member of Blyth Lodge 593, F&AM, West Newton.
In January 1953, he married Betty Biddle, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Gary Stockdale of Birmingham, Ala., Chad Stockdale and wife Debbie of Economy Borough and Mark Stockdale and wife Angela of Somerset; a daughter, Judy Holzapfel and husband Kris of Pensacola, Fla.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, William C. Stockdale of Westerville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are three brothers, James Stockdale, who died in infancy, Fred Stockdale and Robert Stockdale, and two sisters, Helen Baily Draper and Ruby S. Gideon.
Virginia Edwards
Virginia "Aunt Ginny" Edwards, 88, of McMurray, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010, in McMurray Hills Manor, following a lengthy illness.
She was born October 30, 1921, in Waynesburg, a daughter of Forney J. and Violet Boyd Huffman.
For 40 years, she worked as a nurse at the University of Virginia.
She enjoyed reading, sewing and needlepoint as well as spending time with Alan and Chalese, whom she considered to be her grandchildren.
Mrs. Edwards was Methodist.
On August 9, 1947, she married John Edwards, who died in 1975.
Surviving are three brothers, Richard Huffman of Finleyville, Warren Daniel Huffman of Georgia and Forney Leroy Huffman of Washington, and two sisters, Betty (Thomas) DeJohn of Canonsburg and JoAnn (Fred) Reihner of Washington.
Deceased are five brothers, Theodore, Lawrence, Frederick, Kenneth and Robert.
