Frederick D. Gillogly
Frederick D. Gillogly, age 77, passed away on Monday, November 22, 2010. He was born in Greene County, Pa. on April 4, 1933 and was raised in Waynesburg, Pa.
Fred graduated from Waynesburg College and relocated to Massillon, Ohio, where he accepted a position as a Math teacher in the Perry Local School District, teaching at Watson Elementary, Pfeiffer Middle School and Edison Jr. High, retiring with nearly 40 years of service.
Fred enjoyed his grandchildren, reading, going out to eat and also had a great love for sports, especially Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association (ORTA), Stark County Retired Teachers Association (SCRTA) and was a 20 year member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred T. Gillogly and Jeannette (Church) Gillogly.
He is survived by his sister, Betty Jean Sands of Dauphin, Pa.; his two sons, Michael D. (Lisa) Gillogly of Massillon, Ohio and Mark D. (Bridget) Gillogly of Massillon, Ohio. He was very much loved by his four grandchildren; the mother of his children, Diane K. Gillogly-Green; and his dear friend, Joanne Seccombe.
Georgia Jane Cumberledge, 95, of Brave, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg.
She was born February 7, 1915, in Brave, a daughter of the late Ira Cleveland Phillips and Della Anderson Phillips.
Mrs. Cumberledge was a homemaker and a member of Miracle Run Revival Center.
Surviving are four sons, Robert Cumberledge of East Lake, Ohio, William Cumberledge of Brave, Ammon Cumberledge of Cleveland, Ohio, and Eugene Cumberledge of Brave; four daughters, Martha Rogers and Jane Cumberledge, both of Cleveland, Catherine Ponzoo of Obrien, Fla., and Annette Tetter of Branford, Fla.; two sisters, Vanie Tedrow of Waynesburg and Olive Temple of Ohio; 38 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, deceased are her husband, Tompy Cumberledge, who died September 8, 1994; four sons, James, Ray, Edward and Gary Lee; a daughter, Leota Lemasters; three sisters, Eva Gump, Nellie Martin and Violet Carter; and two brothers, Paul Phillips and Alvin Phillips.

Carolyn D. McClure
Carolyn D. McClure, 82, of Waynesburg, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, in Evergreen Assisted Living, Waynesburg.
She was born November 25, 1927, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Harold C. Dunham and Agnes Baxter Dunham Little.
Mrs. McClure attended Waynesburg College and worked there as a secretary in the English department. She also worked in the Greene County office of the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind.
On April 20, 1947, she married Paul McClure, who died June 5, 1970.
She resided most of her life in Waynesburg, where she was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. McClure had served as president of Central Greene School Board and also served on the board of directors for Intermediate Unit I. She was a past president of Bowlby Library Association.
As a pilot, she enjoyed flying and studying weather conditions. She was a member of Greene County Airmen's Association and the EAA.
Surviving are three sons, D. Craig McClure (Dayna) of Paulson, Mont., Gary A. McClure (Anna) of Littlestown and Keith D. McClure (Betsy) of Waynesburg; six grandchildren; a brother, Harold C. Dunham of San Diego, Calif.; a half brother, David B. Little of Cooper City, Fla.; and a half sister, Leith Schoeck of Miami, Fla.

Joseph M. Fabery
Joseph Michael Fabery, 87, of Raytown, Mo., formerly of Carmichaels, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 29, 2010, as a result of esophageal cancer, in his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Crabtree, a son of the late Steve and Hilda Keck Fabery. He was one of eight children.
Mr. Fabery was a graduate of German Township High School in McClellandtown. Upon graduation, he worked at Nemacolin Buckeye Mine with his father and brother.
He served in the medical corps of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where he met Laurette Archambault, whom he married in 1944. He and Laurette later moved from Pennsylvania to Niagara Falls, where he worked for DuPont, taking an early retirement as an electrical systems foreman in 1983 and moved to Kansas City, Mo.
Mr. Fabery had a great love for travel with his wife and dog in their recreational vehicle to several parts of the country, including Yuma, Ariz., which was a yearly favorite vacation destination to visit their many friends.
He loved gardening and working with his hands. There was nothing he could not build or repair.
Surviving are children Paulette M. Surface and husband Hal of Mission Hills, Kan., and Doreen L. Juszkiewicz and husband John of Buffalo, N.Y.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Cunningham of Waynesburg and Helen Vavrinec of Ramsey, N.J.; a daughter-in-law, Rhoda Fabery of Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are his wife, Laurette; a son, Gary M. Fabery; four brothers, Paul, who died in infancy, and Bill, Steve and Bob Fabery; and a sister, Rose Saunders.

Holly Lynn Lowry
Holly Lynn Lowry, 18, of Nemacolin, died Monday, May 10, 2010, from injuries sustained in an auto accident on Route 21, near Waynesburg.
She was born June 1, 1991, in Morgantown, W.Va., a daughter of Cheyenne and Amy Casseday Lowry of Nemacolin.
She was a 2009 graduate of Carmichaels Area High School. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the school chorus.
She was employed by McDonald's Restaurant in Waynesburg.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a brother, Seth Lowry; a sister, Gabrielle Lowry; maternal grandparents Lawrence Casseday of Nemacolin and Judith McNabb of Texas; and paternal grandparents Gary and Naomi French of Dilliner.
William A. Morris
William A. Morris, 53, of Spraggs, died Monday, May 10, 2010, in Washington Hospital.
He was born April 2, 1957, in Waynesburg, a son of Rae Priscilla (Sue) Anderson Morris of Spraggs and the late Raynor H. Morris.
Mr. Morris worked for several local businesses, including Western Auto and Waynesburg Livestock Auction. He also worked at the Greene County Fair for many years.
He attended Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church in Waynesburg and was a member of Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Company.
Mr. Morris made his home with his mother and her fiance, Ben Barber. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are a brother, Alan Dean Morris (Wendy) of Mt. Morris; six sisters, Sarah Mason (Larry) of Aleppo, Wilhemina Snodgrass (Kirt) of Claysville, Penny Orndoff (Randall) of Waynesburg, Peggy L. Pepple (Mark) of Kansas, Rosemary Ringer (David) of Waynesburg and Joan Morris (Rich Sexton) of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Charles Harvey Morris, and a niece, Jessica Petrie.

Daniel Swestyn
Daniel Swestyn, 85, of Wellington, Fla., formerly of Rices Landing, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, in Arbor Oaks Assisted Living, Greenacres, Fla.
He was born February 4, 1925, in Rices Landing, a son of the late Charles and Mary Clarchick Swestyn.
Mr. Swestyn served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a mechanic for Eastern Airlines.
Mr. Swestyn was a member of American Legion, Brooks-Crago Post 816 of Rices Landing and BPOE Elks of Miami, Fla. He also was a member of Rices Landing United Methodist Church.
He married Norma Jean Sprague, who died August 12, 1993.
Surviving are a son, Kerry Swestyn and wife Gwen of Deland, Fla.; two daughters, Ruth Chapman of Belleview, Fla., and Mary Stark and husband Robert of Wellington; five grandchildren; a granddaughter-in-law; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lillian Zemba of Ohio, Helen Shickel of Virginia, Kay Pecharka of Maryland and Mary Jane Keith of Florida; a brother, Andrew Swestyn of Carmichaels; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a grandson, Daniel A. Swestyn, and two brothers, William Swestyn and Stephen Swestyn.
Harry Henry Szczyrbak
Harry Henry "Hank Snow" Szczyrbak, 83, of Bobtown, died Monday, May 10, 2010, in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
He was born January 14, 1927, in Denbo, a son of the late Kazimier and Mary Kovalcheck Szczyrbak.
Mr. Szczyrbak was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict.
He was a coal miner, retiring after 44 years employment at Shannopin Mine in Bobtown.
In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, raising rose bushes and fishing.
Surviving are five children, Bonne Lee David of Nemacolin, Martha E. Johnson of Bobtown, Carmella Wilczynski of Tower Hill 1, Mary Ann Pennington of Dilliner and Joseph H. Szczyrbak of Granville, W.Va.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Szczyrbak of Virginia; a sister, Anna Marie West of Kentucky; and a dear friend and companion for the past 20 years, Agnes Chipps.
Deceased are his wife, Mary Elizabeth Lilley Szczyrbak, who died February 17, 1975; brothers Walter Szczyrbak and Rudy Ferenc; and sisters Bertha Ferenc and Frances Curley.
Erma J. Baker
Erma J. Baker, 81, of Carmichaels, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, in her home, following a brief illness.
She was born July 17, 1928, in Maxwell, a daughter of the late John and Margaret Henderson Gency.
Mrs. Baker was a homemaker and resided in the Carmichaels area most of her life.
She was a member of Carmichaels Women's Civic Club and enjoyed playing bingo.
Mrs. Baker was a member of St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels, where she was active with its Rosary Society.
On August 28, 1948, she married Joseph Baker, who died January 18, 1994.
Also surviving are three sons, Joseph Baker and wife Barbara of Mechanicsville, Md., Robert Baker and wife Joyce of Waynesburg and Donald Baker of Carmichaels; a daughter, Kathleen Baker of Carmichaels; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Peggy Goda and husband Edmund of Lakewood, Ohio, and Cleo Cobb of McKees Rocks.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a brother, John Gency, and a sister, Freda Griffen.
Charles R. Kubasik
Charles R. Kubasik, 82, of Clarksville, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.
He was born July 24, 1927, in Thompson 2, a son of the late John and Mary O'Brochta Kubasik.
Mr. Kubasik served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked as a coal miner for more than 40 years and retired from Gateway Coal Co.
Mr. Kubasik was a member of St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church, Clarksville.
He was also a member of United Mine Workers of America and American Legion Hanson-Cole Post 391, Fredericktown.
Mr. Kubasik was a skilled carpenter and welder. He enjoyed showing others how to work at each craft. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He most of all loved his wife, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On February 24, 1951, he married Flora J. Byers, who survives.
Also surviving are four children, Patty Simkovic and husband Dave of Clarksville, Darla Hayhurst and Dan McDonald of Morgantown, W.Va., Chuck Kubasik and wife Jill of Rices Landing and Rick Kubasik and wife Catrina of Jefferson; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Kubasik of Clarksville; and three sisters, Helen Gates of Brownsville, Stella Zalom of Clarksville and Elizabeth Brindle of Smock.
Deceased are a brother, John Kubasik, and a sister, Rose Koziel.
