Mary Kartley
Mary Kartley, 79, of Waynesburg, died at 9:40 a.m. Sunday, September 5, 2010, in Washington Hospital, after a brief illness.
She was a daughter of the late Steve and Susie Mehalovich Kartley.
Surviving are six brothers, George Kartley and wife Joann and Stephen Kartley, all of Waynesburg, Michael Kartley and wife Maria of Hagerstown, Md., Vincent Kartley of Atlanta, Ga., John Kartley and wife Jeannette of Solon, Ohio, and Joseph Kartley and wife Debbie of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Ann Kartley of Canonsburg, Stephanie Colbert and husband Robert of Mentor, Ohio, and Susan White and husband Michael of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Melvin (Pete) Kartley and Nick Kartley.
Glennora J. Gibbs Cree Mansberry
Glennora J. Gibbs Cree Mansberry, 67, of Uniontown, passed away peacefully Friday, September 3, 2010, in Westmoreland Hospital, with her loving family at her side.
She was born July 16, 1943, in Uniontown, a daughter of the late Glenn and Louise Wingrove Gibbs.
In addition to her parents, deceased is a sister, Helen Debolt.
Mrs. Mansberry, or "Micki, " as she was known to her family and friends, was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Eastern Star, GWRRA, American Legion Auxiliary and Legion Riders.
She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Earl George Mansberry; her loving children, Bruce Cree and wife Lyn of Gainesville, Va., Robert Cree and wife Samantha of Carmichaels, Jeffrey Cree and wife Marsha of Garards Fort and John Cree and wife Carla of Vanderbilt; stepchildren Earl Mansberry and wife Beth of Lemont Furnace and Michael J. Mansberry and wife Paula of Hopwood; eight; three step-grandchildren; a sister, Stella Ross of Waynesburg; brother Joseph Gibbs and wife Kay of Connellsville; and many loving nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She also leaves many friends.
Thomas Anthony DeMurry
Thomas Anthony DeMurry (Tom), of Erwin, North Carolina and formerly of Rogersville, PA, died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Maude and Frederick DeMurry; one sister, Ruth Virginia; three brothers, Frederick Michael (Mike), James Joseph (Jim), and Richard Robert (Dick), all of Pennsylvania and Maryland. A sister, Grace Louise Johnson of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, survives him.
He is also survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his former wife, Gloria Pitcock DeMurry; daughter, Robin Dale; sons Thomas Anthony II, Gavin Daniel and wife, Sandra, and Christian Andrew and wife Tracy. Tom is also survived by five grandchildren. Also surviving are his wife's children, Lisa Cox and husband Alan and Donald Phillip Morrison II and wife Jennifer, and three grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Tom proudly served in the USMC from 1956-1976, retiring as a Master Sergeant, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and frame, Navy Commendation Medal with "V", Meritorious Unit Commendation, and good conduct medal.
Tom was responsible for writing the training manual for the Marine Corps accounting system, and was an instructor for the accounting system. He later retired from the USPS with 24 years of service.
He was a former member of the Queen's Creek UMC where he served as a Sunday school superintendent and lay speaker.
Tom was a gifted songwriter, singer and guitarist, and gave of his gifts at local retirement homes, nursing facilities, and at many public and civic events. He will be missed by friends and family, but will be remembered forever through his music.
Eleanor J. Bucenell
Eleanor J. Bucenell, 93, of Washington, formerly of Marianna, died Sunday, October 10, 2010, in Donnell House, Washington.
She was born August 27, 1917, in Crucible, a daughter of William and Elizabeth Quinn Morgan.
Mrs. Bucenell served as church pianist and choir director of Marianna United Methodist Church and gave private piano lessons for many years.
After moving to Washington, she became a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the choir. She also sang with Washington County Arts Choir for several years.
Surviving are a daughter, Eleanor (Vincent) Brunetti of Washington; four grandchildren, Rhonda (Richard) Shaw of Weirton, W.Va., Sandra Coram of Wheeling, W.Va., Daniel (Pamela) Stephens of Washington and David (Evelyn) Stephens of Marianna; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased are her husband, Richard Bucenell, who died January 11, 2004; a daughter, Loretta A. Fien; and three brothers, Arthur, William and Frank Morgan.

Linda K. Smitley
Linda K. Smitley, 60, of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., formerly of Waynesburg, died Sunday, October 10, 2010, in Phelps Memorial Hospital, Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.
She was born June 18, 1950, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Glen and Gladys Mayfield Leeper.
Mrs. Smitley was a senior project manager at Emerging Health Information Technologies in Yonkers, N.Y. She previously had worked as a registered nurse at Greene County Memorial Hospital and several other hospitals.
Surviving are her husband, Calvin John Smitley, whom she married September 21, 1967, and two daughters, Caire Ann Pena and Emily Beth Hamm (Fred), all of Waynesburg; and two grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters.

Robert E. Fox
Robert E. Fox, 85, of Cambridge, Ohio, passed away Monday, October 11, 2010, in Cardinal House, Cambridge.
He was born July 23, 1925, in Garards Fort, a son of the late Francis and Dessie Pratt Fox.
Mr. Fox worked for Holderman Sons Construction for many years and retired from R&F Coal Mine.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Mr. Fox loved camping and playing golf.
He is now with the love of his life, Marjorie Alene Knight Fox, who passed away February 26, 1994. They were married July 3, 1948.
Surviving are two sisters, Agnes Fox Lemunyon of Greensboro and Janie Fox Hardy of Carmichaels; two brothers, Delmar (Linda) Fox of Hampton, Va., and Allen (Ruth) Fox of Lenoir, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents and wife, are three brothers, John Fox, Thomas Fox and Franklin Fox, and five sisters, Evelyn Fox Stewart, Emma Fox Belford, Myrtle Fox Morris, Betty Fox Wilson and Letta Fox Wade.
Wilma G. Stollar Johnston
Wilma G. Stollar Johnston, 100, of Waynesburg, formerly of Nineveh, died at 2:35 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2010, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home in Waynesburg.
She was born Saturday, May 14, 1910, in West Finley, a daughter of the late Chauncey Allen and Eulalia Ethel Sprowls Stollar.
Mrs. Johnston was a member of Nineveh United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed scrapbooks and cooking.
On August 22, 1936, she married Frank Tilton Johnston, who died April 30, 1995.
Surviving are a daughter, Joyce Dykman of Timonium, Md.; a son and his wife, Francis R. and Pauline Johnston of Rogersville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three sisters, Mildred Stollar, Ellen Earnest and Evelyn Mahan, and a brother, Dale Stollar.
She was the last of her immediate family.

Inez F. Patrick
Inez F. Patrick, 75, of Brave, formerly of New Freeport, died unexpectedly at 9:12 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2010, while visiting her daughter, Reene Casto, in Buffalo, W.Va.
She was born May 27, 1935, in Garrison, Turkey Knob, a daughter of the late William Samuel and Helen Irene Six Lemmon. She had been a resident of Brave since 2004.
Mrs. Patrick was a member of New Freeport Church of Christ.
She enjoyed computer games and crocheting.
Mrs. Patrick was last employed as a seamstress at the former Flushing Shirt Factory in Jefferson for approximately 12 years, prior to retiring in 1994.
On October 6, 1957, she married Franklin Delano Patrick, who died December 30, 2001.
Surviving are three daughters, Cindy Lou, wife of Richard Johnson of New Freeport, Lora, wife of Steve Hennen of Brave and Helen I. (Reene), wife of Tim Casto of Buffalo; a son, Franklin Delano Patrick II, husband of Delores Patrick of Buffalo; two brothers, Gary, husband of Jeanette Lemmon of Milton, W.Va., and William S. Lemmon Jr., husband of Donna Lemmon of Holbrook; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are two sisters, Rosa Imogene Bickerstaff and Madolyn Renner.

Thomas J. Shogren
Thomas J. Shogren, 51, of Waynesburg, died unexpectedly at 6:54 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2010, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.
He was born Saturday, November 1, 1958, in Auburn, N.Y., a son of the late Thomas Norman and Jean M. Scholz Shogren.
Mr. Shogren was affiliated with the Methodist faith.
He enjoyed all sports, especially the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Mr. Shogren worked as a coal miner for 20 years for Consol Coal Co. at Enlow Fork Mine. He was a member of Teamsters Union.
Surviving is his wife, Pamela Morris Shogren, whom he married May 30, 1981.
Also surviving are a daughter, Marci Shogren of Waynesburg; two sisters, Karen and husband Mike Phillips of Greensburg and Kristen Shogren of Jefferson; three sisters-in-law and their husbands, Timmie M. and Mike Ely, Lida M. and James Orbash and Kathy M. and Jerry Lee Cooke, all of Waynesburg; two brothers-in-law, Jed and Judy Howard and Lew Rice, all of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Clara Lou Nelson Zollars
Clara Lou Nelson Zollars, 78, of Waynesburg, died at 2:15 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2010, in Washington Hospital.
She was born Saturday, January 9, 1932, in Bristoria, a daughter of the late James and Dora Hughes Nelson.
Mrs. Zollars was a member of Throckmorton United Methodist Church in Eastview.
She enjoyed reading and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Zollars worked as an inspector at Greenway Manufacturing in Waynesburg and later worked at Greene County Memorial Hospital as a nursing assistant.
On October 18, 1953, she married Donald W. "Snowball" Zollars, who died August 31, 1989.
Surviving are three daughters, Sherry Cornwell, Tammy and husband Will Vance and Candy and husband Ronald "Fuzz" Hoskins, all of Waynesburg; two sons, David Donald Zollars and fiancee Cheryl of Waynesburg and Steve and wife Pamela Zollars of Owings Mills, Md.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Grace Eileen Wood of Waynesburg, Jackie Wood of Monacca, Judy Hoge of Waynesburg and Marjorie Wise of Conway, S.C.; a brother, Joe Nelson of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a grandson, Stephen Craig Hoskins; a sister, Lucy Wilkerson; and three brothers, James Nelson, Don Nelson and Jerry Nelson.
Carl E. Knestrick Sr.
Carl E. Knestrick Sr., 80, of Jefferson, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010, in Washington Hospital, from a bout with lung cancer.
He was born September 26, 1930, in Scenery Hill, a son of the late George and Edna Knestrick Stathers.
On November 26, 1955, he married Ruby Seese Knestrick, who survives.
He was retired as a coal miner from Marianna Mine 58, where he worked for 19 1/2 years. He was a mechanic all his life and was known as the "Escort Man" because he always worked on Ford Escorts. He also enjoyed going to The Meadows and playing cards with his wife and kids.
Mr. Knestrick was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather.
Surviving are a brother, Kenny Knestrick; two half brothers, Lee Stathers and wife Mary Lee and Keith Stathers and wife Carolyn; two half sisters, Ilene Lants and husband John and Shirley Davis and husband Tom; children Dennis Knestrick of Jefferson, Harvey Knestrick and wife Christinia of Nemacolin, Jeff Knestrick and wife Sonja of Waynesburg, Mark Knestrick and wife Marcia of Nemacolin, Carla Krajnak and husband Randy of Nemacolin, Merle Gates of Smithton and Carl Knestrick Jr. (Peggy) of Virginia; ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two stepbrothers, Howard Stathers and Bill Stathers, and a grandson, Paul Renaldi.
