Helen R. Scherle, 83, died Tuesday, August 1, 2000 in her home. She was born March 24, 1917 and was a homemaker. Survivors include a son, William Scherle of Ross; a daughter, Patricia Jankowski of Ross; two sisters , Ruth Yoest of West View, Rita Stoehr of Shaler; six grandchildre; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William V. Scherle. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in WALTER J. SPERLING JR. FUNERAL HOME, 123 North Ave., Millvale. Christian Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Spirit Church, Millvale, with the Rev. John Weber as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Sharpsburg.

Ruth L. Sprinkle, 83, of Scottdale RD1 (Thornwood), passed away Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 2, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born June 8, 1917, in Scottdale, a daughter of the late Mary Golden Faulkner Dillon. She married Jesse J. Sprinkle on Dec. 22, 1936. Ruth was a loving wife, mother , and grandmother to her family. She was a member of the Kingview Mennonite Church and years ago served as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. She was known for her baked goods, providing many to church, family and neighbors. She was a graduate of East Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1935. She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Jesse J. Sprinkle; her four children, James Sprinkle and wife, Jane, Nancy Keyser and husband, Carl, Jerry Sprinkle and wife, Becky, and Rodney Sprinkle and wife, Barbara, all of Scottdale; nine grandchildren, Tim Sprinkle, Traci Rhodes, Scott Keyser, Mark Keyser, Joshua Sprinkle, Jessica Sprinkle, Lisa Martin, Amy Sprinkle and Kristen Sprinkle; her five great-grandchildren, Samantha Rhodes, Kyle Rhodes, Brianne Keyser, Anthony Keyser and Brock Keyser; her two sisters , Grace Calvert and husband, Presley, of Melbourne, Fla., and Betty Kothenbeutel and husband, Ira, of Front Royal, Va.; her brother, Mahlon Dillon Jr. of Columbus, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother , Ruth was preceded in death by her stepfather, Mahlon Dillon; her daughter, Sylvia Loretta Sprinkle in 1939; two brothers , John and Daniel Dillon; and an infant brother. Former director of PRCUA, current financial secretary of Society 479 Ladies of St. Hedwig and a member of Society 678 St. Stanislaus Kostki. Beloved wife of the late Julian Stecki. mother of Celestine Grskovich, Geraldine Sable, and Natalie Stecki. Sister of Joseph Mandela and Dorothy Phillips, and the late Jane Kupiec, Theodore, Archie, Alios "Shorty" Mandela; also survived by five grandchildren, Julianne Castaneda, Sean Grskovich, Christopher, Timothy, and Michael Sable. Fred A. Stefkovich, 53, of Penn Township, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, in his home. He was born Feb. 11, 1947, in Avella, a son of the late Andrew J. and Dorothy Laborie Stefkovich. He was the co-owner for 21 years of the Walker & Associates Insurance Agency in Turtle Creek. He was a member of St. Barbara Church in Harrison City. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary Jo Stumpf Stefkovich; two daughters , Kimberly A. Stefkovich of Greensburg and Heather M. Stefkovich of Penn Township; two brothers , James M. Stefkovich and Andrew J. Stefkovich, both of Avella; a sister, Sonya Petricca of Burgettstown; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Barbara Church with the Rev. Jean C. Tito, 85, of Latrobe, died Friday, July 14, 2000, in Redstone Highlands, Greensburg, after a short illness. She was born Nov. 13, 1914, in Hazelwood, a daughter of the late John and Blanche Gray Cox. She was a member of the Latrobe Presbyterian Church, where she held a number of offices. She was a 1934 graduate of the nursing school at St. Margaret Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was a member of the Civic Club and served both with FISH and Meals on Wheels. In addition, she was on the boards of both the Red Cross and the Adams Memorial Library, Latrobe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Tito. She is survived by three children, James L. Tito of Latrobe, Patricia T. Rutzler of Erie and Richard J. Tito of Sewickley; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Logan W. Cox of Hot Springs, Ark. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m. in the Unity Chapel, Unity Township. Beatrice Vidal Urbach, 88, of North Huntingdon, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000. She was born Feb. 16, 1912, in Heidelberg, a daughter of the late Emil and Clara Linsley Vidal. She was a member of the Penn Hebron Garden Club of Penn Hills and was an avid bridge player. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Herman G. "Mike" Urbach; a daughter, Patricia Caughey and her husband, Roger, of North Huntingdon; a granddaughter, Wendy Milne and her husband, Scott; also her beloved pet dog, Pandee. There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, with the Rev. Frank M. Sherman officiating. Frances Vesely, of Gillespie, Fayette City RD, entered into eternal rest and went to be with her family and her Lord in the Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc., Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000. She was born in Gillespie, Washington Township, a daughter of the late Peter Sr. and Franceska Shirocky Vesely. She, with her family, was owner of the Vesely Brother's, the Mover's, and the Vesely CloverFarm Market in Gillespie. She was one of the first women to become a licensed school bus operator in the state of Pennsylvania . She was a member of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church and the Hand Maidens of the church. She was preceded in death by brothers , Joseph, Stephen, Peter Jr., Edward and Dr. John Vesely; and two sisters , Mary and Marguerite Vesely. She is survived by a sister, Ann Cheti of Fayette City RD; by two sisters -in-law, Katherine and Olga Vesely, both of Fayette City RD; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the ELEY/McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, and Friday until 9:30 a.m. where a prayer service will be held followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Holy Spirit R.C. Sarah K. White , 84, of Delmont, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born May 2, 1916, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Morgan Kelley. She was a reading specialist for the Association for Children with Learning Disabilities for many years. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Delmont, and was very active in the Cloverleaf Estates Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank M. White , in 1986. She is survived by two daughters , Carol Wilson and her husband, Ron, of Russellville, Ky., and Gail Wasson and her husband, George, of Nottingham Township; two sons , the Rev. Kenneth White and his wife, Gwen, of Delmont, and Dr. Keith White and his wife, Leora, of Oakland, Calif.; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 5, at 1 p.m. in the Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church, Murrysville, with the Rev. Marnie Silbert officiating, followed by visitation with the family after the service. George Bennett, 84, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, in the Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born March 2, 1916, in Sturgeon, Pa., a son of the late Thomas and Lily Gardiner Bennett. George was a World War II veteran, having served as a technicians sergeant at Company Headquarters of the U.S. Army's 727th Amphibian Tractor Battalion. Prior to his retirement, he had been an accountant for the former West Penn Power Company of Greensburg. He was a charter member of the Charter Oak United Methodist Church of Greensburg, a life member of the American Legion Post 485 of McDonald and the VFW Post 33 of Greensburg, a member of the B.P.O.E. 907 of Latrobe, the Westmoreland County Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants of Greensburg, and had served as regional council president of the Keystone Mountain States Council of the I.M.A. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, M. Aileen Bennett; two brothers , Thomas and Benjamin Bennett; and a sister, Florence Kish. George is survived by his wife, Alice Malone Bennett; three sons , Jay T. Bennett of Crestview, Fla., Richard G. Bennett of Latrobe and Gary J. Bennett of Derry; two stepdaughters, Patricia Olsen of Albany, Ore., and Kathleen "Cathy" Malone of Pittsburgh; four stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Charter Oak Methodist Church with the Rev.
