Catherine "Kay" M. Kelleher Kingdom - 20 Feb 2000

Catherine "Kay" M. Kelleher Kingdom, West Scranton, died Sunday evening in the VNA hospice unit of the Community Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the widow of Joseph Kingdom, who died 19 Feb 1969.
Born in New York City, daughter of the late Patrick and Katherine O'Malley Kelleher, she made her residence in Scranton at an early age and was educated in Scranton public schools. She formerly was employed in the housekeeping department of Scranton State General Hospital until her retirement in 1988.
Surviving are two daughters, Estelle Doherty, Douglasville; and Jacqueline Honick, Old Forge; a son, Joseph, Scranton; five grandchildren, a great grandson, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis, and a twin sister, Patricia Kelleher.
The funeral will be Thurs from the Carl J. Savino Funeral Home, 157 S. Main Ave, with mass at 9:30 am at St. Patrick's Church. Internment Cathedral Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Kitchen.

Harriet Kingdom - 19 Feb 1934

Mrs. Harry Kingdom of 211 N. Garfield Ave, one of West Scranton's well known women, died suddenly this morning of a heart attack. Mrs. Kingdom was a native of STS, England. In her early young womanhood she came to America and made her home in West Scranton ever since.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Harry Jr., five grandchildren and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Polly Preston, Mrs. James Keenan, George and John Evans, all of England.
The funeral will take place Thursday afternoon with services in St. David's Episcopal Church. Interment Washburn St. Cemetery.

Katharine G. "Kit" Hennigan - 3 Jan 1996

Katharine G. "Kit" Hennigan, 1505 Madison Ave, Dunmore, died Wednesday at home. She was the widow of John J. Hennigan who died 26 Oct 1967.
Born in Pittston, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Wegge Gillespie, she was a graduate of Marywood Seminary and College. Prior to retirement, she was a teacher in the Scranton School District for many years. She was a former member of St. Clare's Church and a member of the Marywood Alumnae Association.
Surviving are a daughter, Kay O'Donnell of Dunmore; a twin sister, Grace G Hall, of Paupack; 4 grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank.
The funeral will be Sat from the Albert P. O'Donnell Funeral Home, 2025 Green Ridge St., Dunmore, with mass at 10:30 at St. Mary's of Mt Carmel. Internment Cathedral Cemetery.

Phillippine Huss - 26 Mar 1992

Phillippine Huss, 93, formerly of the 300 block of Pittston Ave, died Thursday in the Community Medical Center after an illness. Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Barnie and Phillippine Huss, she was a member of the St. Mary of Assumption Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. Nieces and nephews survive.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Phillip.
The funeral will be Monday from the August J. Haas Funeral Home, 202 Pittston Ave, with Mass at 10:30 in St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Internment, parish cemetery.

Mrs. Keisling Dies at Age 79
Mrs. Louise M. Keisling, 79, 837 Maple St., died Saturday after a long illness.
A native of Germany, Mrs. Keisling resided in South Scranton 75 years. A daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Frank Huss, she was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and its Women's Guild, the Workingmen's Society Auxiliary and Augusta Victoria, Temple 45, Ladies of the Golden Eagle.
Surviving are her husband, William; four daughters, Mrs. Louise Morgan, Mrs. Mildred Armstrong, Miss Esther Keisling, all of this city, and Mrs. Lila Miller, RD Olyphant; three sons, William, Moscow; Albert and Bernard, both of this city; a sister, Miss Philippina Huss, this city, a brother, Joseph Huss, this city; 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Arthur E. Strauch Funeral Home, 602 Birch St., at a time to be announced. The Rev Braynard E Kurkowski, Trinity Church, will officiate. Internment, Abington Hills Cemetery.

Nancie J. Keisling - 24 Jan 1996

Nancie J. Keisling, Moscow, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening in Moses Tailor Hospital. Her husband, Woodrow W Keisling, died 24 Feb 1986.
Born in Spring Brook Twp, daughter of the late Michael & Catherine Repella Hrywnak, she was a life long resident of the Moscow area and a member of Gospel Hall, South Scranton. She was employed for the past 22 yrs by Angelica Healthcare Group.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth R., of Princeton, NJ; two daughters, Nancie Karen Renaud, Albia, Iowa; and Kathleen Keisling, Moscow; five sisters, Olga Balleo, Hartford CT; Annie Garelli, Newington, CT; Mary Ropiak, Throop; Judy Millard, Scranton; and Millie Wladlarski, Monticell, NY; two brothers, Paul and Harold, both of Springbrook; three granddaughters; four grandsons; and nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by a son, Nelson W, who died in 1991, and two brothers, John and Wesley.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2pm from the Miller Bear Funeral Home. Internment Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Illness is Fatal to Whitehouse
Albert Whitehouse, 810 Woodrow Ave, Baltimore, MD, died Thursday in Baltimore City Hospital after an illness. Born in Old Forge, he was the son of the late Eli and Mary Jane Hayes Whitehouse. He was a former resident of Sibley and was a retired Baltimore City employee. A WW II veteran, he was a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are two brothers, John Hayes, Mays Landing, NJ, and Walter Whitehouse, Binghamton, NY; three sisters, Mrs. William Lewis, Sr, Rush, PA; Mrs. Margaret Noakes, Old Forge; and Mrs. Thomas Holmes, this city; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 pm from the Sultzer Funeral Home, 125 N Main St., Taylor, with Rev Burton Easton, Stewart Memorial Church, Old Forge, officiating. Interment , Milwaukee Cemetery.

Alice Whitehouse - 2 Aug 1932

The funeral of Mrs. Alice Whitehouse was held yesterday afternoon from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Wylam, if 2106 Boulevard Ave and was largely attended. Services in the residence were conducted by Rev BLC Baer, pastor of the Jackson St. Baptist Church. Mrs. Fred Lentz and Mrs. Arthur Evans, accompanied by Miss Martha Wainwright, sang "Ivory Palaces" and "No Night There." There were many beautiful floral pieces sent to the home, rememberances of her many friends and acquaintances.
The flower bearers were: Martha Edwards, Dorothy Jones, Alice Wylam, Edith Conrad, Doris Whitehouse, Lillian, Marian, and Elsie Kingdom. The casket-bearers, her nephews, were Thomas Jones, William Edwards, William, Richard, Harry, and Arthur Kingdom. Burial was in Washburn Street Cemetery.

Emma Whitehouse - 11 Apr 1995

Emma Whitehouse, 98, formerly of Ransom Twp, died Tuesday in the Clarks Summit State Hospital following an illness. She was the widow of Benjamin Whitehouse, who died in 1958.
Born 9 May 1896 in Taylor, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Pfaff Bray.
Surviving are two sons, Benjamion J, Clarks Summit, and George, Emmaus; two daughters, Audrey Zeiss & Marion Palmer, both of Clarks Summit; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
The funeral will be private at the convenience of the family, with the Rev Dr. Michael Shambora, chaplain of Clarks Summit State Hospital, officiating. Internment, Washburn Street Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church. Arrangements by the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S State St., Clarks Summit.

William Keisling, Sr. - 18 July 1961

W. Keisling, Sr. Dies in Hospital; Funeral Friday
Funeral services will be held Friday for William Keisling, Sr, 873 Maple St., who died in Moses Taylor Hospital Tuesday morning at the age of 83. He had been ill for sometime.
Mr. Keisling, a south Scranton resident 80 years, was born in Germany, son of the late George and Thelma Bishop Keisling. He retired 13 yrears ago from Consolidated Molded Products Co and was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ and a life member of the German American Association and the Workingman's Society. His wife, the former Louise Huss, died 6 June 1959.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Louise Morgan and Mrs. Mildred Armstrong, this city; Miss Esther Keisling, Bay Village, OH, and Mrs. Lila Miller, RD Olyphant; three sons, William Jr., Maple Lake, Albert and Bernard, this city; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Oliver, this city; two brothers, Charles Keisling and August Oeftering, this city; 11 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10:30 am from the Arthur E Strauch Funeral Home, 602 Birch Street, with Rev. Joseph M. Kim, pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ, officiating. Internment will be in Abington Hills Cemetery, Chinchilla.
