Betty M. Reed
Betty M. Reed, 71, formerly of Tamaqua, died Saturday in the Shenandoah Heights Nursing Home, Shenandoah, where she resided.
She was an executive secretary for General Elevator, Philadelphia, before retiring.
Born in Tamaqua, she was a daughter of the late Oliver M.S. and Edna (Heisler) Reed.
A 1943 graduate of Tamaqua High School, she attended the Wesleyan Church, Lehighton.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Krause of Tamaqua and Jean of Pasadena, Calif.; and four brothers, Carl and Kenneth O., both of Tamaqua, Paul of Fair Oaks, Calif., and Harold of Fort Myers, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Zedonek.
The Jon M. Zizelmann Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, is in charge of the arrangements.
William Shiner Sr.
William Shiner Sr., 61, of 38 new St., Bangor, died Saturday in the Easton Hospital. He was the husband of Clara M. (East) Shiner. They observed their 36th wedding anniversary in February.
He was a presser for various Bangor area blouse mills for 17 years before becoming disabled in 1986. Previously, he was a locksmith.
Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Morris and Catherine (Snyder) Shiner.
He was of the Nazarene faith.
Shiner was an Air Force veteran.
Surviving in addition to his widow are three sons, William Jr. of Wind Gap, James of Bangor and Donald, at home; a daughter Donna of Bangor; four brothers, John of St. Louis, Mo., Morris Jr. of Freemansburg, Charles of Dubois, Clearfield County, and David of Bangor; three sisters, Constance Kunsman of Bethlehem, Jean Driesbach of Lehighton and Dolores Kauffman of Spokane, Wash.; a stepson, Albert Stout of Bangor; a stepdaughter, Linda Stout, at home; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Marion E. Gross
Mrs. Marion E. Gross, 85, of Gracedale, Upper Nazareth Township, formerly of Plainfield Township and Bath, died Saturday in the Muhlenberg Hospital, Bethlehem. She was the widow of Bruce C. Gross.
Born in Bushkill Township, she was a daughter of the late William A. and Gertrude (Miller) Reagan.
She was a member of Hope United Church of Christ, Wind Gap. At one time, she taught Sunday school at the St. Luke United Church of Christ, Belfast, and was a member of the Women's Guild.
Surviving are three sons, Robert of Wind Gap, Ronald of Bethlehem and Richard of Lehighton; two daughters, Patricia, wife of Ray Bush of Wind Gap, and Linda of New York; three brothers, Kinsey of Nazareth R.D., Paul of Lincoln, Neb., and William of Shippensburg, Cumberland County; a sister Pauline, wife of Clarence Teel of Marion, Mont.; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Jean M. Galgon
Mrs. Jean M. Galgon, 65, of 6495 Schochary Road, New Tripoli, died Friday at 8528 Rextown Road, Washington Township. She was the widow of William Galgon.
She was a co-owner and bookkeeper of the former Whitehall Landscapers, and previously had been a legal secretary for Frank and Frank, Allentown, for many years. She also worked in the kitchen of the New Tripoli Fire Company.
Born in Lehigh Township, she was a daughter of Marie (Scheckler) Leuckel-Lloyd of Slatington and the late Groman Leuckel.
The deceased was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall Township, and the Ontelaunee Lioness Club.
Surviving in addition to her mother are two sons, Ernest J. of Walnutport and Randy A. of Hazleton; and three grandchildren.
DeForrest B. Spadt
DeForrest B. Spadt, 79, of Lehighton, formerly of 525 Main St., Slatington, died Friday in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton.
He was a sewing machine operator for Paris Neckwear, Walnutport, for 30 years before retiring in 1977.
Born in Walnutport, he was a son of the late Otto and Annie (Arndt) Spadt.
He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Walnutport, and the Vigilant Fire Company, Slatington.
Surviving is a sister, Thelma W. Oncheck of Nazareth.
Oliver M. Krum
Oliver M. Krum, 84, formerly of Emerald and Kunkletown, died Friday in the Bookmont Acres Nursing Center, Effort. He was the husband of the late Thelma K. (Kuntz) Krum.
He was a foreman and scale inspector in the foundry of the former New Jersey Zinc Company, Palmerton, for 38 years before retiring in 1975.
Born in Emerald, he was a son of the late Warren P. and Mary A. (Thomas) Krum.
He was a member of the Emerald Fire Company and an Eagle Scout with the Emerald Boy Scout Troop.
Surviving is a son, Carey O. of Kunkletown R.2.
Mrs. Eleanor A. Brobst
Mrs. Eleanor A. Brobst, 73, of 201 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, died Sunday in her residence. She was the widow of Charles Brobst.
Prior to retiring, she had been employed by the former Purling Mills Garment Factory, Tamaqua.
Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Kathryn (Kaplan) Rarick.
Mrs. Brobst was a member of Primitive Methodist Church, Tamaqua.
She is survive by two sons, George C. of Tamaqua R.3 and Charles A. of Hunlock Creek; two daughters, Mabel, wife of Richard Folk of Hometown, Tamaqua R.2, and Ellie S., wife of Frank Epser of Summit Hill; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Anna Mae) Massa of Allentown and Dolores Eisenhower of Hazleton; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn M. Brobst; and a sister, Mabel Sell.

Stanley J. Dyrda
Stanley J. Dyrda, of 44 Valley St., Brockton, died Saturday in the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville. He was the husband of Susan (Bardzak) Dyrda.
Prior to retiring, he had owned and operated Stanley's Friendly Service Station.
Born in New Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Thomas and Marcella (Wallendar) Dyrda.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, participating in the Battle of Normandy and the Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. He attained the rank of technical Sergeant.
Of the Catholic faith, he was a member of the Middleport American Legion, Post 144, and the Moss Glen Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Dolores Haggerty of Lehighton; three brothers, Roman of New Ringgold, Andrew in Florida and Michael in Arizona; three sisters, Helen Wolowicz and Mary Piaskowski, both of Berlin, Conn., and Frances Shelavage of Stratford, Conn.; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Alex A. Navitsky
Alex A. Navitsky, 82, of 251 Clay St., Tamaqua, died Sunday in his residence. He was the husband of Rita (Baddick) Navitsky.
Prior to retiring in 1979, he had been employed as street foreman for the Borough of Tamaqua.
Born in Tamaqua, he was a son of the late Anthony and Anna (Yenchkowsky) Navitsky.
He was a member of St. Jerome's Roman Catholic Church, Tamaqua.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Philip of Tamaqua, Theodore of Pottsville and Daniel of New Philadelphia; one sister, Mrs. Till Cook of Paramus, N.J.; and nine grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Mollish; and a brother, Tony Navitsky.

James V. Fenimore
James V. Fenimore, 82, of Riverdale, Ga., formerly of Allentown, died Saturday in his home. He was the husband of Ruth (McDermott) Fenimore. They were married for 48 years.
He was the owner of the Palmerton Beverage Company before retiring in 1980, and previously had owned the Fenimore Hotel, Coopersburg, for eight years until 1969.' Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late Michael and Theresa (Spanelli) Fenimore.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Limeport.
Surviving in addition to his widow are five sons, Michael J. of Coopersburg, Joseph P. in New Jersey and James J., Thomas P. and Philip, all of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter Theresa, wife of Raymond Sawick of Center Valley; three brothers, Philip of Allentown, Michael of Pemberton, N.J., and Joseph of New Port Richey, Fla.; three sisters, Mary McGill and Margaret Cohen, both of New Port Richey, and Jeanette of Pemberton; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
