Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

MARIAN FEY VIDMER
Marian Fey Vidmer, 88, of Hempfield Township, died Friday, March 10, 2000, in the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born April 4, 1911, in Duquesne, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Ann Fey. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a home economics teacher in the Duquesne and Port Vue Middle Schools. She was also a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral of Greensburg, a former den mother for the Cub Scouts, and a former football mother for Hempfield High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milam Vidmer. She is survived by two sons , Richard Fey Vidmer of Hempfield Township and Gary Charles Vidmer of Madison, Conn.; a daughter, Sarah Vandevisse of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren; two sisters , Ann Shelley of Orlando, Fla., and Ursula Kerins of Augusta, Ga.; a brother, John Fey of Bethel Park; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitations. Services and interment will be private. MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., Jeannette, in charge of arrangements.

SARA E. WOOD
Sara E. Wood, 86, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, in Baldock Health Care Centre, North Huntingdon. She was born June 4, 1913, in Elizabeth Township, a daughter of the late John B. and Stella Southern Rupert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney D. Wood. She is survived by three sons , Sidney M. Wood and his wife, Elizabeth, of North Huntingdon, John R. Wood and his wife, Virginia, of Elizabeth Township and Aldin L. Wood and his wife, Florence, of Ligonier; a daughter, Darla Schwirian and her husband, Richard, with whom she resided; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Russell Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Round Hill Cemetery.

GUY F. YERACE
Guy F. Yerace, 85, of Monroeville, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at his home. He was born Sept. 7, 1914, in Wilmerding, a son of the late Vincent and Rose Matarazzo Yerace. He was retired from the Westinghouse Electric in East Pittsburgh. He was an avid bowler for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers , Anthony, John and Ralph Yerace; and three sisters , Josephine Notaro, Millie Latella and Mary Scalise. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rose Sennec Yerace; a son, Guy A. Yerace and his wife, Rita, of Harrison City; two daughters , Mary Brown and her husband, George, of Trafford and Geraldine Powell and her husband, Merle, of Monroeville; a brother, Eli Yerace of Wall; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the JOHN M. DOBRINICK FUNERAL HOME, 429 Duquesne Ave., Trafford, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Regis Church, Trafford. Entombment will follow in the Restland Memorial Park, Monroeville. The family requests memorial donations to the Monroeville Fire Co #1, Monroeville.

LUCY M. ALTMAN

Lucy M. Altman, 89, of New Stanton RD1 (Middletown), died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Sept. 1, 1910, in Hempfield Township, a daughter of the late Isaac and Lavina Henry Fox. She was a member of the Middletown United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Fox; and four sisters , Catherine Trenney, Ellen Fox, Olive Baum and Florence Steiner. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Walter L. Altman Sr.; a son, Walter L. Altman Jr. and his wife, Rose M., of Greensburg; two daughters , Naomi Coughenour and her husband, Donald, of Belle Vernon, and Patricia Allshouse and her husband, Thomas, of New Stanton; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ira Fox of Dauphin, Philadelphia; and four sisters , Clara Etta Mensch of South Greensburg, Ruth Woodward of New Stanton, Hilda Riddle of Hemet, Calif., and Emma Baird of Greensburg. Friends will be received at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison, Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Middletown United Methodist Church with her pastor, the Rev. Kenneth L. Bossart, officiating. Interment will follow in the Middletown United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hempfield Township.

RUBY M. KING BORLAND

Ruby M. King Borland, 64, of Export, died Sunday, March 12, 2000. She was born June 14, 1935, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Wallace and Leona Bollinger King. Ruby was a member of the Delmont Presbyterian Church and the Murrysville Monday Musical. She is survived by her husband, Thomas W.S. Borland; a daughter, Linda J. Wright of England; five sons , Timothy T., William M., Stephan C., Phillip D. and Michael G. Borland, all of Export; two sisters , Mary Jane Morgan of Export and Sally M. Murray of New Alexandria; and two granddaughters, Abbey and Hannah Wright of England. Friends will be received at the EDWIN N. WOLFE FUNERAL HOME INC., Export, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Glen H. Burrows officiating. Interment will be in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Delmont Presbyterian Church Building Fund.

ELLA MAE DAVIS CECCHETTI

Ella Mae Davis Cecchetti, 63, of Jeannette, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, in the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born May 17, 1936, in Marguerite, Pa., a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Fallat Davis. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Jeannette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dave Cecchetti; and a brother, Ralph Davis. She is survived by her husband, Avande Cecchetti; three daughters , Amy Voll and husband, Ken, of Ravenna, Ohio, Linny Waldron and husband, Roland, of Mehoopany, Pa., and Patti Antoniak and husband, Walt, of Jeannette; two sons , Tom Cecchetti and wife, Dawn, of Irwin, and Robbie Cecchetti and wife, Fran, of Jeannette; three sisters , Ruth Woolfrey of New Castle, Catherine Young and husband, Ben, and Dorothy O'Brien, all of Greensburg; two brothers , Cliff Davis and wife, Alberta, of New Castle, and Jim Davis and wife, Mary, of Sebastin, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Missy, Adam, Cara, Lindy, Roccie, Kristy, Ashley, Frangelica, Shaya and Robert; a great-grandson, Jason; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, beginning Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be private.

RUDOLPH S. KERECZ

Rudolph S. Kerecz, 77, of Plum, died Sunday, March 12, 2000. He was the husband of the late Clara M. (Reihms) Kerecz. He was the beloved Father of Mary Ann Racki; dear grandfather of Krystin Michelle Racki; brother of Carl and White y Kerecz. He was a retired employee of Fruehauf Truck and an Army veteran, having served in World War II. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the MAURICE L. KNEE LTD. FUNERAL HOME, 7663 Saltsburg Road (across from S&T Bank) in Plum. Services will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at noon.

PHYLLIS M. (BELLICH) KOVALCIK

Phyllis M. (Bellich) Kovalcik, 61, of Delmont, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, in IHS, Greensburg. She was born June 26, 1938, in Export, a daughter of the late Miller and Mollie (Altman) Bellich. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Edward C. Kovalcik; three daughters , Rebecca Urchek and husband, Peter, of Blairsville, Victoria "Vicky" Smith and husband, Cary, of North Huntingdon, and Pamela Zimmerman and husband, Nathan, of Apollo; a son, Edward Kovalcik Jr. and wife, Donna, of Greensburg; a sister, Mary Reagan and husband, Grant Jr., of Hunker; and four grandchildren, Charlie and Anastasia Urchek, Christopher Kovalcik and Josh Zimmerman. In addition, she is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Phyllis was a member of the St. John Baptist de la Salle Church of Delmont. The family will be receiving friends at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC. AT TWIN VALLEY, 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, (724) 468-1177, beginning Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Phyllis's funeral service to be announced. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Kevin P. Altman, supervisor, in charge.

ROBERT K. LOUGHRY

Robert K. Loughry, 72, of Sarasota, Fla., died Thursday, March 9, 2000, in the Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 23, 1927, in Greensburg, a son of the late George and Florence Best Loughry. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad and later as an administrator for Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Pittsburgh. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and fleet Marine during World War II. He was a member of the Westmoreland Lodge #518 F.& A.M., Greensburg, the Tebala Shrine of Rockford, Ill., the Sahib Temple in Sarasota and was a graduate of St. Vincent College, Latrobe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers , Homer `Bud' Loughry and James E. Loughry. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara (Wike) Loughry; two sons , R. Lance Loughry and Philip A. Loughry, both of Rockford, Ill.; a brother, Rush M. Loughry, of Rockford; two sisters , Mary Lou Cook of Rockford, and Judith Iris Hart of Spokane, Wash.; several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. only. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Robert A. Free officiating. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Westmoreland Hospice, 532 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601. The Westmoreland Lodge #518 F&AM will meet at the funeral home Tuesday at 7 p.m. to conduct a Masonic service.

CATHERINE LOUISE SWINK MILLER

Catherine Louise Swink Miller, 58, of Connellsville (Bullskin Township), died Saturday, March 11, 2000, in Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. She was born Aug. 6, 1941, in Connellsville, a daughter of Charles W. Swink of Bullskin Township and the late Catherine E. Baum Swink. Catherine was a graduate of Connellsville High School in 1959 and a graduate of the Westmoreland Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. She was a registered nurse, having retired from Highlands Hospital in May 1999 from the mental health unit. She previously worked at LaFayette Manor in Uniontown and she was an instructor in the CETA program, in training geriatric nurses. Catherine was a lifelong resident of Bullskin Township, and she was a member of the Mt. Olive Evangelical Church of North America. In addition to her mother , she was preceded in death by a brother, John Clifford Swink. In addition to her Father , she is survived by her husband of 37 years, Ronald E. Miller; a son, Ronald C. Miller of Somerset; a daughter, Catherine Susan Cline and her husband, Curt, of Bullskin Township; a brother, Charles Henry Swink and his wife, Carol, of Bullskin Township. Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Additional viewing will take place Wednesday in the Mt. Olive Evangelical Church of North America from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of funeral services in the church with the Rev. Robert Williams and the Rev. Robert Patton co-officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.

JESSIE MINKOVICH

Jessie Minkovich, 78, of Charleroi, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, in the Mon Valley Hospital. She was born May 4, 1921, in Charleroi, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Indorante Bondi. She was a member of Mary mother of the Church parish of Charleroi and of the Christian Mothers of the church. She was a homemaker and a retired nurse's aide at the former Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Marcia Minkovich of Belle Vernon; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and Samuel Grubich of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, L. Jeffrey Minkovich of Greensburg, Amy C. Halloran of Pittsburgh, Joseph M. Minkovich of Charleroi, Melissa Teves of Catonsville, Md., and Lara E. Seka of McLean, Va.; and two great-grandchildren, Shawn Minkovich and Jamie Christine Halloran. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Minkovich; a brother, Mario Bondi; and by two sisters , Julia Robison and Sonda Bondi. She was a devoted wife, mother , grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Mary mother of the Church. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Charleroi.

WILLIAM W. OAKS

William W. Oaks, 86, of New Derry, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Oct. 29, 1913, in Clearfield County, a son of the late George W. and Ella Owens Oaks. He was employed by the Penn Central Transportation Co. Railroad, where he had worked as an engineer, retiring in 1975. He was a life member of the Twin Maples Club. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers , Elmer, Ralph and Ellis; and two sisters , Mabel Yeager and Emma Miller. He is survived by his wife, Rose D. McCurdy Oaks, whom he married July 5, 1948; two sons , George Edward and his wife, Joyce Oaks, of Niles, Ohio, and Roger Allen and his wife, Sharon Oaks, of New Derry; a sister, Irene Johnson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Jeremy (Jennifer) Ehrmann; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Third Ave., Derry, where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor William R. Weppelman officiating. Interment will follow in Blairsville Cemetery.

JOANN PLUMMER

JoAnn Plummer, 65, of Derry RD1, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, in Latrobe. She was born May 19, 1934, in Ruffsdale, a daughter of Harriet Moore Shawley of Greensburg RD and the late Ray Shawley. She was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church of Youngstown and had been a veterinarian technician for Lakeview Animal Clinic for 45 years. Besides her Father , she was preceded in death by a brother, Wiles "Bud" Shawley; and a sister, Marion Uncapher. In addition to her mother , she is survived by her husband, James R. Plummer, whom she married June 20, 1995; three daughters , Sara "Sally" Shawley of Greensburg RD5, Mrs. Felix (Janice) Reffo of Manassas, Va., and Mrs. Len (DeAnn) Krotz of Loyalhanna; two sons : James D. and his wife, Lori, and Jerry R. and his wife, Gina Plummer, all of Latrobe; a brother, Ray Shawley of North Huntingdon; four sisters , Mrs. Richard (Lois) Moon of Youngstown, Pa., Mrs. Eugene (Valera) Uncapher of Latrobe RD2, Mrs. Leo (Susan) Henry of Latrobe, and Mrs. Roger (Lenita) Lenhart of Ligonier RD4; six grandchildren, Richard, Trishtine, Tori, Bradley, Katelyn and Anthony; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Third Ave., Derry. Additional viewing at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time funeral services will be conducted with her pastor, the Rev. David vonSchlichten, officiating. Interment will follow in Coles Cemetery, Derry.
