Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Stanford C. Strohl
Stanford C. Strohl, 66, of Box 754, Cherryville, died Sunday in the Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of the late Bonita L. (Budihas) Strohl.
A truck driver for 40 years, he was last employed by Herman Brothers, Inc., Bath, until retiring in 1992. Prior to that, he worked for the former Matlack Trucking Co. in Northampton County.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Clinton H. and Arvilla (Smith) Strohl.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Palmerton.
Strohl was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are a daughter Kathy, wife of Andrew Pisulak of Lehighton; three sons, Larry S. of Palmerton, Edward G. of Northampton and Terry L. of Cherryville; a stepbrother, Sterling Strohl of Lehighton; a stepsister, Donna Frantz of Slatington; and eight grandchildren.
The Thomas K. Thomas Funeral Home, 145 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Eugenia Marshman
Mrs. Eugenia Marshman, 74, of Blackwood, N.J., formerly of Coaldale, died Monday, Dec. 30, in her home. She was the widow of Alfred J. Marshman, who died in 1990.
Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Wasil and Justina (Hocko) Paslawsky, and spent most of her childhood in that community.
Surviving are a daughter, Andrea Schneck of Bridgeton, N.J., a sister Theresa, wife of Edward S. Martin of Lansford; and a grandson.
A funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 3, at the Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, N.J., with the Rev. Charles D. Mitchell officiating, followed by interment in the Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown, N.J.

Virginia Ryan
Virginia Ryan, 76, of the Hometown Nursing Center, Tamaqua R.2, formerly of Wilmington, Del., died Saturday in the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale.
Before her retirement, she taught in secondary school for 38 years.
Born in Shenandoah, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Sabina (Kilker) Dean, and had lived in Shenandoah for many years.
She was educated in Shenandoah schools and received a B.A. degree from Bloomsburg University.
Surviving are a daughter, Sheila Dyson of Corona del Mar, Calif.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Gavala, Kathleen Barry and Rita Cooper.

Mrs. Edward Rusnock
Mrs. Ann Marie Y. Rusnock, 56, of 979 W. Sixth St., Hazleton, died Monday in the Hazleton-St. Joseph Medical Center. She was the wife of Edward P. Rusnock.
Born in Hazleton, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Gergotz) DeLash.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hazleton.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Ronald and Jeffrey, both of Hazleton, and Paul of Coyngham; two daughters, Deborah, wife of Anthony Grosso of Exton, and Andrea, wife of Lawrence DeBello of Vacation Village, Zion Grove; two sisters, Florence Greby and Rose Marie Kusmeder, both of Hazleton; three brothers, Joseph and Francis, both of Hazleton, and Elmer of Jim Thorpe; three grandsons and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Daniel; and two sisters, Mary Mistal and Carmella Streit.

Mrs. Harold Rodgers
Mrs. Evelyn A. Rodgers, 79, of 1429 Main St., Northampton, died Mondayh in the Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center. She was the wife of Harold Rodgers. They observed their 59th wedding anniversary in November.
Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Mamie (Huber) Kleppinger.
She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, Northampton.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Beverly A. of Northampton; two brothers, Wayne H. of Walnutport and Dale T. of Quakertown; a brother George of San Clemente, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Kroninger of Catasauqua and Mamie, wife of Robert Gaugler of Coplay; and two grandchildren.

Elmer R. Hughes
Elmer R. Hughes, 90, of Allentown, died Monday in the Muhlenberg Rehabilitation Center, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Louise M. (Link) Hughes.
A meat cutter, he worked for Acme markets in the Lehigh Valley for 42 years before retiring in 1969, and formerly had worked for the former Mohicanıs market, Allentown.
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Thomas J. and Elizabeth (Williams) Hughes.
He was a member of St. Joseph Evangelical Lutheran Church, Allentown, and was a past treasurer of the Neighbors of the East Side No. 26, Allentown.
Surviving are a son, Ernest T. of Angola, Ind.; a daughter, Emma Lee, wife of Allen A. Buck of Allentown; a brother Thomas of Bethlehem; four grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Mrs. Marion M. McGinley
Mrs. Marion M. McGinley, 84, of Jupiter, Fla., formerly of Allentown, died Monday in the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, West Palm Beach, Fla. She was the widow of John McGinley.
Prior to retiring, she was a nurse supervisor of the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
Born in Mauch Chunk, she was a daughter of the late Cornelius and Margaret (McGinley) Ferry.
She was a graduate of the Reading Hospital School of Nursing.
Surviving are a son, Michael P. of San Antonio, Tex.; a daughter Peggy, wife of Edward Skrod of Jupiter; and three grandchildren.

Carl E. Montgomery
Carl E. Montgomery, 87, of 6A Pearl Lane, Doraville, Ga., formerly of Cedarview Apartments, Allentown, died Monday in his home. He was the husband of the late Geraldine F. (Diehl) Montgomery.
He was a salesman for the Paymaster Corporation, Allentown, for 30 years before retiring in 1993.
Born in Holcomb, W. Va., he was a son of the late John and Mary (Sullivan) Montgomery.
He was a member of Faith Evangelicval Free Church, Trexlertown.
Surviving are two sons, Keith A., with whom he resided, and Neil E. of Trexlertown; two daughters, Norene J., wife of John Eddy of South Daytona, Fla., and Patricia A. Reichenbach of Danielsville; a sister, Virginia Freeman of Deland, Fla.; a brother Robert of Philadelphia; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son Hugh.

Mrs. Cora S. Stein Bretz
Mrs. Cora S. Stein Bretz, 81, of 2320 Quarry St., Ormrod, died Monday in the Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center. She was the widow of John H. Bretz and William Stein.
She was a seamstress for the former Cross Country Clothes, Northampton, for 10 years before retiring in 1975, and previously was a bagger for the former Lehigh Portland Cement Company, Ormrod, for 10 years.
Born in South Whitehall Township, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Lillian A. (LeVan) Stettler.
Surviving are four sons, Roger C. Stein of Allentown, Clayton F. Stein of Walnutport, Leo B. Stein of Whitehall Township and Herbert L. Stein of Slatington; a daughter, Linda L., wife of Leon T. Fehnel of Whitehall; two sisters, Mrs. Esther Toth of Allentown and Melba, wife of Harold Stofflett of Coplay; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

George B. Titus
George Bertram Titus, 70, of Livonia, Mich., and Panama City, Fla., died Dec. 25 in Panama City. He was the husband of Helen (Laub) Titus.
Born in Rush Township, he was a son of the late Bertram and Harriet (Haldeman) Titus Derr.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Teamsters Union, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving in addition to his widow are three brothers, John Titus of Slatington and Edward Titus and Robert Derr, both of Tamaqua; a sister, Velma Kashmer of Tamaqua; and several nieces and nephews.

William M. Burnett
William M. ³Burn² Bennett, 37, of 27 Warren Road, Upton, Mass., died Dec. 29. He was the husband of Eileen (Coleman) Burnett, a native of Tuscarora.
He was a self-employed contractor.
Born in Brockton, Mass., he was a son of John J. and the late Marie F. (Towler) Burnett.
He was an Army veteran, having served from 1977-80.
Surviving in addition to his widow and father are a son Ian and daughter Lindsay, both at home; six brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Elizabeth Puklavage
Mrs. Elizabeth Puklavage, 85, of 1056 Sanderson St., Tuscarora, died this morning in Miners Memorial Geriatric Center, Coaldale. She was the widow of John Puklavage who died Dec. 19, 1957.
Born in Tuscarora, she was a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Pattay) Konecnik.
Prior to her retirement she worked as a seamstress for Tamaqua Garment Co.
She was a member of the Advent Lutheran Church, Tuscarora.
Surviving is a daughter, Elizabeth, wife of Edward Kranch of Tuscarora; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The Roche Funeral Home, 237 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, is in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence W. Heintzelman Sr.
Lawrence W. Heintzelman Sr., 67, of 7188 Gun Club Road, New Tripoli, died Tuesday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
He was a foundry worker for O.Z. Gedney Co., Inc., Shoemakersville, for 15 years before retiring in 1985 due to illness.
Born in Lynn Township, he was a son of the late Charles and Mallie (Bennighoff) Heintzelman.
He was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, New Tripoli, and the Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon L., wife of Anthony Miller of Santa Clara, Calif.; three sons, Carl W., Lawrence W. Jr. and Douglas S., all of New Tripoli; a sister, Mrs. Naomi Arndt of Allentown; two brothers, Norman of Kempton and Earl of New Tripoli; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary A. Fling
Mrs. Mary A. Fling, 88, of 308 North St., Jim Thorpe, died Tuesday in her home. She was the widow of Jesse Fling.
A registered nurse, she worked most of her life in the Washington, D.C., area.
Born in Freeland, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Winifred (Dean) McFadden.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe, the Women's Club of the church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Ryan No. 911, Jim Thorpe.
Mrs. Fling received her nursing degree from the former St. Agnes School of Nursing, Philadelphia.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Anna Helferty; and two brothers, Bernard and William.
The Edward F. Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe, is in charge of the arrangements.
