Salvator P. "Sam" Emanuel Sr., 74, of Connellsville, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at his home. Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Rita Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville, with the Rev. Frank Lesniowski as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Rita Cemetery. military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the American Legion and VFW Honor Guard. A parish wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Rosalind (Jack) Frederick, 83, of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., formerly of Slickville, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, in St. Johns Hospital and Medical Center, Detroit, Mich. She was born Feb. 28, 1917, in Italy, a daughter of the late Anthony and Dominica (Palarko) Jack. She was the owner/operator of Robelle's Hair Stylists for 30 years in Detroit, Mich. In addition to her parents, Rosalind was predeceased by two brothers , Frank and Louis Jack; and a sister, Mary Valore. She is survived by her husband, Melvin W. Frederick; her twin sister, Jenny (Jack) Viterbo of Roseville, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., AT TWIN VALLEY, 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, (724) 468-1177, Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Rosalind's blessing service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 10 a.m. with Father Raymond Riffle of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Slickville, officiating. Bernard D. Getto, 76, of Seabrook, Texas , formerly of Jeannette, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2000. He was born April 24, 1924. Mr. Getto was formerly employed by the National Labor Relations Board and the Hertz Corp. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the League City Symphonic Winds. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Getto; and a sister, Charlotte Getto Mikosky. He is survived by three daughters , Karen Peeples, Susan Drury and Eve Getto; and two grandsons. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 30, at the Jack Rowe Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Seabrook Cemetery.

Rosalia (Boyance) Golob, 97, of Stanton Heights, on Saturday, July 29, 2000. Mrs. Golob was a homemaker. She was the beloved wife of the late John C. Golob; mother of Helen Rosalie Golob and Marian Golob, both of Stanton Heights; and sister of late Helen Berdick. Friends received at the FRANK R. Father Alfred L. Grotzinger

Father Alfred L. Grotzinger, O.S.B., a monk of St. Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, Pa., died Sunday, July 30, 2000, after a long illness. He was 87 years old. Father Alfred was born July 5, 1913, in St. Marys, Pa., the son of the late Edward and Caroline (Gregory) Grotzinger, and was one of nine children. He attended St. Mary Parochial School in St. Marys and St. Vincent Preparatory School. He also attended St. Vincent College and Seminary. He entered the St. Vincent Monastic Community in 1934 and made simple profession of vows on July 2, 1935, and solemn profession of vows on July 11, 1938. He was ordained a priest on June 15, 1941. Father Alfred worked in several educational and pastoral apostolates. He was on the faculty of the James Barry-Robinson School and Home for Boys in Norfolk, Va., from 1941 to 1942, and was assigned to several parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Dioceses of Greensburg, Richmond and Erie. He served as pastor of Holy Trinity Church in Ligonier from 1955 to 1967; of St. Gregory the Great Church in Virginia Beach, Va., from 1967 to 1981; and of St. Mary Church in Erie, Pa., from 1981 to 1989. In 1990, he retired to St. Vincent Archabbey for reasons of health, and there he served as coordinator of Monastery Maintenance until his death. Father Alfred served on the St. Vincent College Board of Directors from 1956 to 1964 and was secretary from 1962 to 1964. He was also a member of the College's Lay Advisory Board and the Development Club for many years. Father Alfred received the "Man of the Year" award from the Jeannette Jaycees in 1954. He was also a former district governor of Toastmasters International, District #13, a past president of the Ligonier Lions Club, and a former chaplain of the Knights of Columbus, Councils #278 and #4632. Father Alfred is survived by a sister, Mrs. Alice Nescot of Jeannette; and by nieces and nephews. Father Alfred's body was received at Leander Hall at St. Vincent Archabbey Monday, July 31, at 3 p.m. A viewing for Father Alfred will be held at Leander Hall parlor, St. Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. A vigil service will be held in St. Vincent Archabbey Basilica Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent Basilica Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

Playford Hawkins, 90, of Connellsville, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, in Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Elmer Reamer officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park. The B.P.O. Elks #503 will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Christian Church, Connellsville, in memory of Mr. Hawkins.

Emma J. Heck, 90, died Monday, July 31, 2000 in Vincentian Regency Nursing Center, McCandless. Born Oct. 19, 1909 in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Julia Schultz Schuetzek. Survivors include two daughters , Helma Feather of Shaler and Norma Roughen of McCandless; a son, Ralph Heck of Dunwoody, Ga.; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Heck. There will be no visitation. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in NEELY FUNERAL HOME, 2208 Mount Royal Blvd., Shaler, with the Rev. Warren Bieber as celebrant. Burial will be in Allegheny County Memorial Park, McCandless.

Florence E. Johnson, 95, of Herminie (Keystone), died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at the Hempfield Manor, Hempfield Township. She was born Jan. 19, 1905, in Luxor, Pa., a daughter of the late William and Melinda (Hixenbaugh) Thomas. Mrs. Johnson was a piano teacher, she taught the piano in her home for over 40 years. Mrs. Johnson was the oldest member of the Herminie United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Johnson, in 1966; a brother, William Thomas; and a granddaughter, Karen Lash Coleman. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her son, George Johnson of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Lash and her husband, the Rev. Donald Lash, of Greensburg; also four grandchildren, Christopher and Daniel Lash, and Barbara and Kerri Johnson; and a great-grandson, Corey Lash. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH W.
